Such a wonderful experience with tasty food, perfect tea, and a beautiful setting. We had such a lovely time it was idyllic and just the tasty meal we needed after our walk on the Warren. Highly recommended.

We came across this lovely little cafe whilst walking the Noss Mayo/Wembury loop. We had a picnic lunch with us and wanted a coffee to go with it. We went into the cafe and the owner explained she didn't have proper take away cups with lids but could provide plastic cups - this we gladly accepted full of delicious latte (freshly ground beans) which we enjoyed with our sandwiches, sitting by the estuary. The cafe garden has a beautiful view and the food looked very good so next time we won't bother with a picnic and will stop at the cafe for lunch. It is a great pity that the Cafe is not allowed to open weekdays as the only alternative for refreshments are the local pubs.

He visitado hoy, por primera vez, mi familia había sido antes. Me encantó. Precioso hotel, excelente servicio y hospitalidad, no puedo esperar a volver!

Dropped into the tea room on Easter Monday and enjoyed a very tasty cream tea plus coffee as well. Very convivial and welcoming host, and the view across to Newton Ferries is unequalled in the South West We've visited before and had a very tasty Niçoise salad; it's a stop you cannot afford to miss, even if you've had a pint in one of the nearby pubs beforehand. Save your appetite for the tea garden!

I rowed ashore from a yacht in Yealm pool in search of milk. I should have gone to the Nexton Ferrers side of Newton Creek but luckily I got it wrong and ended up walking, early one morning, through Noss Mayo. There is no shop there but a couple I met suggested I ask at the, not open yet, tea shop. I did so and Kathryn found me an empty plastic bottle and put about a pint of milk in it for me. We agreed on 50p. We chatted for a while then Kathryn suggested I might like to take the components for a cream tea with me. I promised that we had homemade jam on board and she furnished me with 4 large scones and a pot of Devonshire clotted cream. £5. I returned to the boat with the results of my foraging and we had cream teas on our boat that day and the day after. Lovely. Kathryn made the trip ashore memorable and we've praised her on both the occasions we had the cream tea. Very friendly, I'm sure the tea room is splendid too. Don't tell anyone but we were in Cornwall by the time we ate the cream teas!

The telephone number for the Swan Inn has not been changed, it is still 07152 872333. A handy tip would be to book a table for lunch or dinner to avoid disappointment you will find the staff most helpful and friendly.

On an amble back from Cellars beach on a hot day we popped into this lovely garden and sat in the best seat....large table with an amazing view of the estuary and Newton Ferrers. We oredred 3 cream teas....the tea pot came in it's own wicker padded basket.....lovely.....scones....one small one per person - disappointing....jam and clotted cream ok. we ordered a glass of milk and an extra cup....when the bill came at the end, they asked for the equivalent of 4 cream teas...too much for what we had...dissappointing

On a walk from Newton Ferrers I just fancied an ice cream and called in with my daughter. They don't advertise ice cream as such, but a bowl of vanilla was no problem. My daughter chose the home-made elderflower cordial, and I had a taste. It was a completely natural flavour, plenty of taste without being overpowering, and was certainly the best I have ever had.

Spent the afternoon having cream tea with a friend with gorgeous views overlooking the Yealm Estuary. Very friendly and prompt service with homemade scones and jam - that and a pot of tea for only £4! What a perfect spot for a quiet afternoon... Just be warned that sadly they're only open on weekends and bank holidays! Thanks for a lovely visit. ☺️

I visited last year and really enjoyed the cream tea and the great views. The owner was really charming and happy to chat and share tips on where to visit in the area. The menu wasn't huge but how need a massive menu when you offer something for everyone and what I saw other people eating looked lovely. Give it s go, I'm sure you'll enjoy

Stumbled across this lovely little spot whilst out walking. Devon cream tea was very reasonable and tasty! All freshly prepared and in such a lovely setting overlooking the harbour. Downside is the garden could do with a bit of love here and there and .... I bumped my head quite badly on a sharp edge coming out of a shed next to our table when I got up! My fault, but a bit of padding on shed would help avoid future accidents.Love this place though. Will visit again.

Situated at the start (or the end, depending which way round you go!) of a 4-mile circular walk that starts and ends at Noss Mayo, these tea gardens are really worth a visit. The cakes and savouries are all home-made, as are the scones and jam, which together with lovely real tea served in the most exquisite china crockery, make the perfect “Devon cream tea”. The hosts, Kathryn and Andy, are very friendly, and the setting is perfect – a lovely view over the estuary to the church at Newton Ferrers and beyond. Just hope for some lovely sunshine on a weekend or bank holiday, as that, unfortunately, is the only time that it’s open!

What a wonderful place to have lunch or afternoon tea !!....the views overlooking the Yealm river are stunning and the food is delicious.....I had a tuna sandwich and my partner and I both had the best cake filed with fresh crèam and fresh strawberries.....I would return to this tea garden again just to have that outstanding cake !!!! It is a shame that due to some problems with planning approval that this tea garden is only allowed to stay open on weekends??.....this is a mystery to me since other eating establishments in Noss Mayo are allowed to be open all week long (Ship Inn)....This place is oozing with charm and has the warmth of staying in someone's private home.....there are not many unique places like this one that delight all of the senses ....we will definitely return !

Came across this lovely tea garden whilst walking out of Noss Mayo towards the estuary coast path. The view is pretty near picture-perfect: across to Newton Ferrers and on a summer's day, can't really be beaten anywhere in the countryWe ordered drinks, including a sparkling elderflower and tea, as part of a cream tea in fact, plus a delicious Niçoise salad, and shared both. Just right! Service was friendly and relaxed; it was the prefect impromptu stop-off and so much better than dropping into the pubThoroughly recommended!

The tea gardens are lovely and it was delightful to find beautiful pieces of art created by the owner. The art is made from drift wood and mosaic with a variety of lovely pieces that I would have bought if I could have carried them back to the boat. will be visiting with again as soon as possible

My Wife & I have lived in Newton Abbot (30 miles away) for many years and we are still discovering beauty spots on the spectacular South Devon Coastal Path. Noss Mayo is one of those places you think twice about recommending to anyone, for purely selfish reasons. You really want it to stay as beautiful, relaxed, peaceful and free from traffic noise as possible! We took a lovely circular walk from the Car park in Noss over to Hollicombe, on the Coast path, around Gara Point and up the Yealm estuary back to Noss. As you come in to Noss you will pass the Tea Garden - DON'T! Take time out and just soak up the lovely estuary view while supping delicious coffee and absolutely gorgeous home-made snacks (top-notch chocolate brownie). Kathryn and Andy are lovely hosts and we will certainly make this an essential stopping off place on our next trip to Noss.

Ideally located for walkers in need of some refreshment..... Home made produce to a high standard.. Only open at weekends and bank holidays. Reason for this is that the planners have refused them permission to open in the week!!!!! wake up Devon tourist board and do something about this... The place is a credit to Devon

This is a hidden gem (don't tell anyone), and you will probably need to be at the start or finish of a walk to find it, so you will have earned a treat. And this IS a treat - like being invited into someone's home for a bite to eat and a refreshing drink. In fact, you are not invited INTO the home, as you sit outside (not sure what happens when it is raining) on a raised terrace with lovely views across the river to Newton Ferrers. There is a simple menu, along with chalked-up boards promising various goodies, but it's a case of whatever is available that day is available, and for us it was delicious tuna sandwiches, elderflower cordial, and carrot cake. We'd just returned from a long walk to Wembury on a hot afternoon, and we felt like we deserved a treat - we got one.

SADLY I FOUND A HAIR IN MY CHOCOLATE BROWNIE. TOLD THE LADY IN THE CAFE WHO APOLOGISED AND SHRUGGED, BUT DIDN'T OFFER A REFUND OR A DIFFERENT PIECE OF CAKE. WON'T BOTHER TO EAT THERE AGAIN AS INCIDENT MADE FEEL SLIGHTLY NAUSEOUS.

What a delightful place to go for breakfast , we wandered in mainly because everywhere else didn’t open until 10am , We were very warmly welcomed , unfortunately I didn’t get the ladies name who looked after us , but she was friendly. Quirky nothing was to much trouble and the full English was freshly cooked ( we were told that because the sausages were freshly cooked there would be a wait ) Delicious local ingredients, the bubble and squeak was amazing . Wonderful coffee

We visit The Flavell for coffee and cake quite often, and are always happy with the service and food. On this particular day we had lunch, soup which was a bit thin and bread, but quite nice. While I was drinking a coffee after my lunch, I looked towards the preparing area and to my surprise watched one of the ladies making a sandwich, she picked up the filling with her bare hands plus the salad and put it together between the slices of bread. While you might do this at home, I would have thought preparing food for customers would necessitate wearing some sort of hand covering. This has put me off eating sandwiches at the Flavel, and will stick to coffee and cake in future. At least the cakes are served from their display with tongs.
