I went today with my children and grandchildren. The grandkids were booked in for halloween afternoon tea for £7 a head. What an excellent meal we had. The adult menu was good and moderately priced, the half parmo was excellent and more than big enough for lunch. With chips or fries. Service was excellent and friendly as was the little dog Orio who greeted everyone on arrival. The kids tea was incredible. Pizza, fries, sandwiches, brownies, muffins, ice cream all decorated with spooky halloween sweets, plus more sweets and treats. This was my first visit to the Norton Tavern and I will definitely be going back. They also have a secret garden where the children could play.

Unexpectedly our family member was able to call to see his Mam and Aunty. We picked here as it local and one of us had been before. It was Sunday lunch. We had halumi fries and potato skins for starters which was almost a meal in itself. There was plenty of choice for mains beef, turkey, pork, gammon with duo and trio options. The veggie option was extra Yorkers, stuffing and potato’s which was perhaps a little lack lustre. Some traditional pub grub was also on offer such as sausage and mash. The mains came with further veg of cabbage ,cauliflower, swede, carrots and broccoli. We were all far too full for puddings. Nice ambiance and friendly service. Will definately come back again.

We came here as a group of 7 adults and 2 children for Sunday lunch. The service was great, with a lovely friendly approach from one lady in particular (may have been the owner). The food was pretty decent, with a lot of choice for the meats, and it was all cooked to order, no carvery here. It also came very well presented. The only slight let down was the mash, which i thought tasted instant, like smash or similar. The place itself was also in need of a lick ofpaint in places. That said I would eat here again, especially given the reasonable price.

we had a celecbration in the tavern on this night with a group of famil, we have been to this place numerous times and always had a good time , food ect, this evening it seemed the manager or owner seemed to be either drunk or on some type of drug she constantly made a scene around our group and at times seemingly unsteady make strange comments and actions with certain people, this lasted for the time in there and to be honest i could not wait to get out, i have never seen a display by staff or owner like this, we left and the topic of conversation was of course her actions with us saying not to return, the staff on duty were by the faces a little horrified and embarrased, they were realy nice but the owner / manager seemed to have lost the plot.

Very very very very LOUD conversations between staff/owner shouted across the place made for a very uncomfortable, anything but quiet, afternoon tea. My friends were really embarrassed and I squirmed with regret for booking this venue as admittedly the only place locally to serve an afternoon tea as late as we needed. I booked a table for 6 adults and 2 children, to celebrate mine and my Mum’s belated birthdays. This establishment was recommended by a friend for afternoon tea, and we weren’t disappointed. The children both ordered burger & chips from the children’s menu - lovely homemade burgers arrived with chips & sweet corn, and they were even treated twice cream for dessert, all for £4.95. The afternoon tea was wonderful. Rounds of ham, egg, prawn and cheese savoury sandwiches arrived on traditional afternoon tea stands, along with plenty of quiche. The “sweet” stand contained fruit scones, cream sponge, cream meringues, rocky road and cheesecake. All washed down with lots of tea, and served on vintage crockery, there was nothing to dislike (although my brother is fussy and ordered the gammon instead which arrived as a huge portion and just meant there was more cake for the rest of us!)

Not a good experience at all. Popped in for a quick bite to eat, however the young man who took our order was polite but unsure of the menu. Food was plentiful, however poor cheap quality, I guess the landlady had a bad cold as all she did was to cough all the way though our meal. Very off-putting. A man appeared to ask us "was the food ok for you" as we left most of our food it was very obvious it wasn't, we assumed he was the chef, however we were appalled by the filthy state of his chefs outfit. We didn't wish to say anything about our experience but in hindsight we wished we did. Rest assured we will Not return or recommend this pub to any one of our friends...

Very disappointing visit. Food was lovely, however the service was much to be desired. We arrived and sat down, with drinks order taken promptly. A couple of ladies sat next to us not long after we arrived and were offered the specials menu which we were not. The waiter came and asked the couple next to us if they were ready to order, to which i asked if we had to go up to order. He proceeded to take their order before our own. Two starters of soup arrived about 10 mins later swiftly followed by the couples meals. We then had to wait at least 20 minutes for someone to realise we had finished our starters, whilst the staff seemed too busy with the coffee machine to notice we were done. There was a table of 5 ladies in at the same time who seemed to be getting all the service. Our meals arrived shortly after our starters were taken away, which is not surprising since they would then only know that we had finished. I ordered the stilton and leek chicken which was lovely, however there was nothing much 'stiltony' about the sauce my chicken was swimming in...it tasted more like the cheese sauce my mam used to make out of a packet. It was served in a round bowl, and then my chips came separately...along with a salad. I wasn't given an option when ordering if i wanted salad or vegetables and didn't know this was an option until i seen someone else being served veg. To me it seems logical to serve vegetables with a hot meal thats served with a hot sauce...i had no where to put my salad or any way to enjoy it with the main part of my meal. My nana ordered the scampi, however it was missing that tartar sauce it said it was served with however we had waited that long for our main meals that we couldn't be bothered to waste more time trying to catch the attention of the staff. Like i said the food was lovely, however i was more disappointed with the service we received. Its a local place for my grandparents to get out too for some lunch or tea, however they've tried this place several times over the years and have always left disappointed. Such a shame.

I have already submitted a review, but I have just read the blue or not blue review and what a load of rubbish. Firstly the drink, the caramel tones will have been in the gin not the mixed drink, how the hell do you want them to garnish your gin and tonic with caramel did you expect a caramac in it. Your steak how can a blue steak be warm it is literally flashed on both sides so it will never be warm, what you will experience is a steak should be at room temperature before cooking, but a blue steak will never be warm and finally no way on god's earth can you See the chef. I am a local to the tavern and know the layout like the back of my hand the door to the kitchen is beyond and round the corner from the door from the pub. If you could see the chef you want to get yourself on Britain's got talent for seeing around corners. So with this lie in mind I am unable to believe any of the other points you have raised. This pub is fantastic the staff are always welcoming and we eat there quite regularly and have never had a bad experience keep it up guys

Our party of eight visited here lastnight for our monthly get together. We choose a different place to eat each month. I booked The Norton Tavern last month. From that first initial phone call, everything was perfect. When we walked through the door we were shown straight to our table, our drinks were brought over to us, the table was already prepared and menus ready for us to look at. Our every need was attended to. The waitress was charming, nothing was too much trouble. The Landlady was delightful and full of fun. What a great atmosphere! We had to wait for our food, but it was well worth the wait. Absolutely delicious. Everyone in our party very impressed indeed. The prices are reasonable, good value for money. The portion sizes are very generous and there are no hidden charges for vegetables, chips or salad. This place is a little gem. We will be back again.

What can I say, we had high hopes for this place with alot of good reviews, was told to booked as can get pretty busy so booked for.7.30.On arrival was asked if we had booked, ordered our drinks at bar and was shown to our table our drinks was them brought over.. Menu is good select typical pub menu which is great hate massive menus that take you ages to look through, best thing about this pub was where we was sitting there was no TV with poxy football on..The Mrs has started to like these new gin drinks, so she ordered a drink with rhubarb, once she got her drink she tasted it not a hint of rhubarb or caramel or almond just lemon and lime chunks, I took it back and was told it was correct but they didn't have the correct ingredients to make it so thought it was ok to make anything.. Ordered different drink which they couldn't mess up.After that episode we received our food both ordered steak mine was blue Mrs was medium rare, looked really nice I took a bite and I know how blue steak is suppose to be this was stone cold. I complained and my food was taken back to kitchen I could see the kitchen and watched the chef touch my food and see he wasn't happy, I'm guessing it was the owner who brought my food back she then proceeded to educate me in a very condicending manner, I explained I'm not daft and know how blue steak is ment to be room temperature not freezing cold, she then stood over me while tasted my food ummmm.... By this time I was ready to pay bill and leave another member of staff was very polite and offered us a free desert I didn't want any but the Mrs had one she said it was ok but tasted abit bland...The Mrs steak was ok and she enjoyed hers..All in all the pub is very pleasant and maybe on another occasion the food would be spot on but this time it was pretty awful well mine was any..If you don't have something just say makes things so much easier as for the the manage/owner whoever she was she needs brush up on her people skills to stand and dictate to a customer and then Stand over them while they are eating is a disgrace..Such a shame as reviews suggested this place was very good on this occasion it wasn't but there ya go but was enough for us not to return...Catch ya later

Went here for a birthday meal. We booked for 6 pm and we were shown to a table for 2. This table was so close to the next table that we could hear every word of their conversation. We ordered our meals, a lamb shank and a sirloin steak. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. Our meals arrived quite quickly. We couldn't believe how many chips I had in my side dish and how many vegetables were a side dish for the lamb shank. Both meals were very tasty and well cooked.I would recommend having a meal here, especially if you are very hungry.Booking seems to be required to secure a table.

The food is lovely, but the portions can be a little on the small size, the fish pie especially. We were surprised that the meal didn't come with vegetables. The staff were friendly but a little phased out, maybe it was the end of a long shift. Having said all that we will be returning for a meal very soon.

I used to love this place, the food is good and the staff have always been and generally still are excellent with the exception of the new lady who is very unprofessional and rude and made me feel very uncomfortable when I went in recently. Being around while she spoke to staff and customers the way she did wasn't pleasant, and she clearly has no idea what she's doing. It's very chaotic in there recently, not at all the relaxing atmosphere I used to go in for. Given the rising costs I understand changes being made but putting up the price of milkshakes and cutting the quality is just cheeky, when you buy "speciality" you expect good quality.

This was our second attempt to enjoy Sunday lunch here. Sadly the experience was once again poor and we won’t be back. Waited far too long (35 minutes) for a drink. Bread stale, roast beef too fatty and vegetables tough to cut! Eton mess poor!

We had afternoon tea today and it was absolutely lovely. Our waitress Libby was very attentive and made it a very pleasurable experience. Nothing was too much trouble and the setting was perfect.

Our 2nd visit to this Excellent pub, they do 2 for £15 even on a Friday night where lots of pubs are Monday to Thursday only. They have 3 or 4 flavour thatchers on draught that I can't find anywhere else. Warm and welcoming. As a party of 4 we sat in the corner out the way and ordered food and a couple of drinks.... Very reasonable prices. The lad came over 20mins ahead of time to let us know the child in the group had to leave so no rushing about. Definitely somewhere we will be returning to. I would say the car park seems small for the size of the pub and you would expect parking issues but we have never had a problem getting parked.
