Only marked 3 stars for food cos I think it's only bar snacks. But the upstairs terrace is the place to be, on cool nights the heat lights keep it nice. If you like boxing on TV this is THE place to go. 4 screens and sound!! Fantastic crowd and able to watch with appreciative crowd. Watching the boxing, the most appreciative bunch, a safe place for all, strict check 25, checks in place , a mixed bunch of ages, not only students as in most places around here, young, middle aged and old all enjoy this place. The bar staff are attentative and will accommodate all your requirements (within reason) they are polite and you don't have to wait for service, I am running out of praise for this establishment, try it for yourself. A good night was had by all in attendance, there is something going on most days. Monday is karaoke and pop quiz with hotdogs in afternoon. Monday night is pool night for the team, Tuesday is poker night, Wednesday is poker night, Thursday is karaoke night, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are good night's out and ALL sport is shown, if there is a clash of events screens are split. If you heard of a cocktail it's available. There is no need to go outside for a smoke, there is a rooftop area for you to smoke, if you only vape then you can do so inside away from the bar. Monday karaoke gets better every week, gotta be on your Christmas to do list. Come and show your talent, even if you ain't the new elvis/Tom jones/Shakira it will be appreciated by the crowd. Entertainment at its best. KJ Oz and his lovely assistant play the tunes and you provide the voice. It's oz last set this week. They also do karaoke in bears paw. Don't miss them. Dj oz has now retired, but does cover for Janet's holidays, Thursday in Northern Way is fast becoming THE place to be on Thursday, the singers are a better class than most, you would have to pay a lot to be entertained better. Sam is one of the best singers in here and has a wide no repertoire. Ste is a good singer and has a wide variation. Tanya did a tribute song to her nanna and its was fantastic..pork pie Oz strikes back for the empire. IT'S NORTHERN SOUL NIGHT 23/08/24. should be a fantastic night. A pub that tolerates an abusive karaoke guy who’s ‘just filling in’ for someone else, that swears at you when you question why your friend hasn’t sang. When the guy who spent 2 full minutes slowly writing down ‘Willie Nelson’ in front of you was on 4 songs ago, and the woman singing now was on an hour ago when we arrived. How this place has a 4+ rating, I have no idea.

Flying visit for the first time in years. Good atmosphere and seemed friendly. Got them on a bad day and everything ran out. But the bar staff were really helpful and didn't have time for food so can't judge.

It's not really a fair review as it's 16.33pm, but it's it's as dead as a pancake on a hot day with no lemon or syrup 😜. There's more action outside. It's actually not a bad place. Staff was attentive. I'm not sure food was even served. Beer was good, fair prices.

The girl with glasses behind the bar made us feel like we weren't welcome and we left without finishing our drinks we used to come to this pub often however we will now avoid due to our service tonight x

The girl with glasses behind the bar (I think amber was her name) was so rude not just to our party but other people too. We love this pub but will not be coming in again if we know she’s on shift. So rude and so impolite we and so many other people felt so unwelcome.

Great value and we enjoyed the table at the top of the stairs near the beer garden.

The Norther way is what used to the O'Neil bar. The transformation is huge. Large bar area, lost of screens for sport lovers, pool area and plenty of tables and seats. Worth a stop off. Prices are quite good.

Bar itself isn't bad, decent enough music, decor is good. Service was good however don't order a drink when they call last orders! We stupidly bought one last round when the last orders bell was rang, within 30 seconds of sitting back down we had 3 door staff come to tell us we had 5 mins to drink up.. we pointed out we'd literally just been served to which they rudely replied well we're closing. It wasn't just ourselves that fell foul of this several others got the same treatment. If you're going to sell a drink give people enough time to drink it before constantly trying to push them out the door! Disappointed with how they treat customers

First time I’ve been in here for somewhere different, never again!!!! My friend queried the sugar free mixers as she is Type 1 diabetic!!! The bar person short, shoulder length brown hair, laughed and replied ‘water’ … I couldn’t believe it! I am sure she thought we were laughing with her, we really weren’t!!! Sarcasm isn’t her strong point!! This place has the same atmosphere as a wet fish!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!

I had left my bag here when I went in and asked the didnt look properly it and the next day they rang my aunt saying it was there after going in and asking the day before

Was busy today. When I was there.

We went to northern way on Wednesday to have a drink before heading home after my graduation. We was served by a very rude and tired (despite the pub being almost empty) bartender named Amber. We walked inside as a group and sat down. We then went to the bar and ordered drinks plus two soft drinks for the 17 year olds at our table (please bare in mind it was 4pm at this time) when she was making our drinks she seemed very annoyed and disinterested in serving us she then stated they wasn’t allowed in the pub but we could finish the drinks we had. No less than 2 minutes later she comes shouting at us saying we had to leave immediately despite seeing the two underage people had no drinks near them at all. I should add the couple next to us playing pool was an underage girl who never got asked to leave. Amber put a very sour turn on what was supposed to be a nice day with friends and family. On our walk out we then observed the door to see if there was any sign about underage people before 7pm, which there wasn’t… I suggest adding a sign to avoiding disappointing any customers.

Great place, nice pool table, didn't eat the food just had a few drinks, service is fairly good but did have to wait a fair bit to put pool cues back.

Very busy because of football final but the staff were brilliant service was great hardly any waiting Time Good on you all 😊

What a shame. A once truly respected and well run establishment tarnished by one obnoxious, loathsome Karen mad on a power trip. Absolutely horrified with the customer 'service' she was displaying this weekend. Sour attitude that made you want to avoid the bar. she picks and chooses who gets served first, one man waited patiently for a drink in front of myself, who before I could myself point out had mentioned such poor service and in return he was removed from the establishment. Good service doesn't come to anyone unless you are favourable to the 'managess' (Brown hair and short with glasses.) This would not have been an issue if the staff had a more productive and welcoming attitude to their work. They'd rather just ruin the reputation of this pub than but anymore than 50% into their work. Such a shame to see such a great pub be turned upside down by one gruesome character.

Myself and some friends were visiting a few bars in preston as we’ve not seen each other since we all qualified as nurses in 2019. We were in this bar for less then 15 minutes, it was busy due to being a sunday and the football was on. However; a short plump glass collector was extremely hostile and aggressive towards us as we were stood at a certain area of the bar, stating she would throw the drinks away. There was no indication that this area of the bar was off limits, we agreed to move but asked her not to be so hostile in the way she speaks to people. She immediately began shouting and demanding we leave. And honestly we were more then happy to leave. No one more than nhs nurses know how awful a busy shift can be, but there’s no excuse to speak to people the way she did. If you can be anything in this world, be kind.

Too noisy, even early evening. If you want a place you can chat, this isn't for you. However, for sports coverage etc, it's good

Such a brilliant pub. Lots of great beers on offer, the music is brilliant, the decor and quality of the interior are excellent and the staff of friendly and approachable. Possibly the best pub I've been to in the North West recently. Loved this pub and I'll definitely be back, during our stay in Preston.

A cavernous place that I perhaps didn’t get the best experience of due to it being a Monday night. Drinks were alright. Trip to the loo was an adventure. Not for anybody with mobility problems due to stairs and distance. Probably rocking in Freshers Week.

Nice pint on a Saturday night out

Very bad management, a glass slides off a table due to ice on the bottom of the glass and no beer mats on the table, a member of the bar staff mops the floor and cleans away the smashed glass, while he was cleaning, a glass accidentally gets knocked over by an arm movement. The manager told our party of friends that he couldn’t serve us with anymore drinks. We won’t be returning.

Fantastic venue, has 2 floors and incredible cocktails here. The open roof, outdoor heated upstairs area makes you feel like a VIP relaxing with a drink or 2, along with the absolutely incredible staff make this a definite visit on a night out!

Amazing staff. The open mic night is so much fun! We'll come back as soon as we can!

Great place to watch local talent at their open mike event each Tuesday. Cool location with lots of eye-catching interiors. The locals are friendly, the bar staff are very accommodating and the drinks are inexpensive. Their shining glory is the roof terrace which is really lovely to sit in and chat with friends.

One of the best places in Preston! There’s always friendly and helpful staff, really nice security, good vibes and their thing is quite affordable especially for a student. Couldn’t ask for a better place. Also love that the staff remember my fiancé and I’s order each time😂

Literally got kicked out for no reason , we got accused of insulting someone when we never did , I’ve asked if they have cameras with audio and they said yes , told them to re-check and see and hear for them self , just another Karen case !?😅 never going back there !

This pub treated me and my foreign mate so wrongly kicking us out us out literally no reason and no explanation. Just paid for 2 pints aswell. Fuming!!

The place is ok but not great. Anymore. Taken to having horse racing on all TVs. And at times loud horse races commentary at the expense of music. Yawn. And the music needs to be refreshed, same as it was months ago. Yawn. Seems the landlords have become complacent. The bouncer is a lightweight and appears to be only interested in socialising with the bar staff and smoking. Doesn't look trustworthy. And it's a cold pub. So not a great experience.

I went to this place with a mate for a quite drink and all of a sudden i was apporched by a guy telling me there is an incident which i did not know about he asked me to wear a face covering which i am exempt from wearing one he ask me and my mate to walk out so we asked whos wearing a face covering in this place as every single person was not wearing a face mask only the staff were he then replied as a threat saying to us " dont get fly with me " is this the service they give to customers

The lady bartender with the short blonde hair was extremely rude and shouted at me to put my mask on even though I was drinking outside on the table and had brought the drink inside. How am I supposed to put a mask when I was drinking. The other man with the beard and short hair and also the young blonde girl were very nice. It seems this elderly lady does not know how to behave with customers and is bringing the pub disrepute.

Had a couple of good nights in here, but the last time was a challenge. Bar staff were unable to recognise who had arrived at the bar first and one of the staff have a vile attitude to service. Not a great experience.

Fairly pleasant drinking experience all things considered on Saturday 26th Sept. Doorman that night absolutely wonderful, very cheerful and humorous, made us feel very welcome. Upstairs terrace beautiful with heaters which is brilliant as we slowly transition away from summer. However, when it came to ordering, I ordered myself a drink and it arrived promptly, my elderly friend was struggling to work the app, so I bought one for him too on a separate order. 15 minutes after ordering it still hadn’t arrived and I approached the bar to politely ask if the drink was still on the way or if it had been lost in the app system somewhere - to which I was told that I shouldn’t be ordering two drinks separately, that I should be more respectful with the new rules, and the bartender checked the orders and called my bluff, telling me there was only one order and putting the blame on me. It did feel rather hostile towards me, especially in the middle of a busy bar where other clientele were watching on. Ultimately, there was a second order. It was a mistake on Northern Way’s part, and I was made to feel like I was being rude, trying to get a free drink, whatever because of it. There was no apology to me or my friend who had been waiting for 20 minutes for service. Just an eventual nod when the bartender noticed the second order. Aside from that, my time in Northern Way was very pleasant. I understand that things are very stressful under the new restrictions, but a little attention to customer service is not a lot to ask. My work is heavily focused on excellent customer service, so when I come out to relax as a customer, it always really upsets me when I am shown disrespect.

Northern Way is a great pub really good value and a good atmosphere. Even with the covid restrictions the door staff were friendly and helpful and the whole process was easy and relaxed. Definitely one of the best pubs in Preston
