The Northern Den in Manchester

Update: Location seems to have changed hands, and many old menu items are missing from the menu such as burgers and sandwiches. Replaced by hot dogs which were not available when visiting. Food was not piping hot when served and barely any cheese on the cheesy chips which were not made fresh like before. I don't personally see what was wrong with the old menu, but hey, we have dumplings now for some reason??? Old review: Atmosphere is really nice and food is excellent. All food is prepared fresh.

Baaaaad cafe' ordered full english and asked could my food be piping hot 🔥 food served on big thick cold plate, if plates not warm bad start, cold eggs, lukewarm beans in cold ramiken, sent it back, 2 mins and they brought me back the same breakfast. I said I asked for piping hot, these eggs are cold you should heat the plates, he said we can't carry that through. I said use a tea towel my foods cold. Got our coffees wrong too, 2 coffees with milk, we got lattes. Kinda felt sorry for them but I can't eat cold food when I request it piping hot. Refund and left hungry. Not happy :( 👎 (See response for customer service, no apology, pure attitude. I only wanted hot food I had asked for on ordering NOT bad attitude and bad service!! BTW 2 coffees with milk is not 2 lattes, totally different thing!!)

The food was delicious, the coffee over extract. the place needed a touch of love and cleaning.

Highest end of value for money! I get sausage, egg and mushroom barm 2/3 a week. No-one else in the area does it like these guys!

Called in for Breakfast with my partner while waiting for my car to be MOT'd. 2 full English Breakfasts cooked perfectly and the presentation was amazing. Sausage were to die for !!..Lovely. At last a good fry up at a reasonable price. Lovely staff. Full marks.

I really enjoy the food here. Northenden was lacking a cafe that did a good Full English breakfast. This place is really good. They do nicely herbed and garlicked fried mushrooms and cherry tomatoes in a dressing that are nicely done. Been here a few times since it opened, friendly service and fare priced given the cost of living these days. Highly recommended.

Just enjoyed the "all American" breakfast which had bacon, sausage, eggs an hash browns with freshly made pancakes. Absolutely beautiful! Amazing butchers sausages, an quality bacon. Light fluffy pancakes with maple syrup, best breakfast I've had in ages. Well worth it, 10 out of 10

Nice all day break, reasonably priced. If I was to give criticism, the actual cafe was a bit on the cool side. I would visit again. 👍

I've been to the Northen Den a few times, and it's brilliant. Two really friendy owners, and the place inside is contemporary and pleasant. They do the best breakfast sandwiches in Northenden by a country mile, and use local produce (Grandad's sausages!) to boot. My only criticism would be it would be nice if it was open earlier than it is, but other than that it's great. Anyone in the area should frequent this place regularly.

No costumer service at all.... guy who serve in this shop looks like he cant be bother at all.... This is what you getting when you order chips cheese butty with extra ham. Its not first time when you ask for something and there is always excuse ("not enough cheese, no ham").... Again very disapointed.... do not waste your time.

It has been a while since we visited this local cafe. It is often closed as we pass, and with no opening hours displayed in the window, it’s not clear when we should visit. However last week we were passing by after a walk and - voilà! - it was open. Even better, in a sunny autumn day, there were tables outside enjoying the warmth of the late October sunshine. Plenty of positives. The service is friendly and things come out in good time. When we asked for water, it was brought out to us quickly. You may smile, but this is a real challenge in this part of the world! There is baking on display, should you want a sweet treat, but on this morning we chose bacon barms. The tea came out in a pot (big tick) and upstairs there is a clean toilet in a large space. But I have saved the best for last - the coffee is actually good, well made and a good strength on the day we visited. And this, my friends, is even rarer in this part of the world than prompt delivery of water to the table! The internet suggests that they are mainly open just around the middle of the day (10am - 2pm, closed Sunday) which means we can’t be regulars for breakfast, but will happily stop by for coffee when we are walking past later in the morning.

Lovely food, amazing cakes and generally well priced. Only down side is service can be slow at times, even when order is phoned through. Good delivery option, especially for treat boxes.

Had a lovely breakfast this morning here! Staff were very good at handling my pickyness with grace which isn't always easy! My husband had a large breakfast and it beat him so it must have been good and very good value for money. We will definately be back again soon 😀

Absolutely top notch! Had the best avocado and scrambled eggs on granary bread toast! Two big portions, and super fresh avocados! Highly recommended! 😊😉👍❤

Really good coffee, much better than a certain brand based down the road. Bacon butty was superb as well. My only recommendation would be to open a bit earlier so you can pick up the passing trade on their commutes and people waiting for the bus.

Really pleased Northenden has a smart independent cafe like this. Nice setting to sit about with the paper or a laptop. Fair prices & excellent bakery bits. Brilliant all day menu, anything you can think of. Eggs over done but they re-did. Loved it all.

Never again made an order today took over 1 hr to arrive no apology no nothing every time we phoned the shop we were lied to saying it was on its way it would have been faster for me to walk and get it then it might still of been hot when I got it the excuse was that there was a lot of traffic going though Northenden what a load of %##t

Nice and tidy place, friendly staff and great food. Couldn't ask for more. Highly recommended!
