The Flour & Flagon in Manchester

The Emmys ginger gear has changed my life. It had bestowed great happiness in my short existence on the planet.. Thank god for Emmys ginger gear 🤓

It was already a brilliant day, basking in the springtime sunshine. Already white-girl wasted, I wandered and wobbled into the cultural phenomenon that is the Flour and Flagon (or F&F for the more experienced alcoholics). Upon hitting the bar I had but one simple request "quench my thirst", and I tell ya, it was quenched alright. The bartender Emmy poured the black tar Guinness, into a silvery liquid, the finest of ginger beers, to create the concoction to end all bevvys. Emmy's ginger gear. I have no words. Only stars, 5 of them as a matter of fact. For a drink that would even make the pope cry. Flour and Flagon is the birthplace of a new revolution. All other drinks are secondary.

Told the bar staff they had no soap in the toilet. Her response. "We haven't got any soap anywhere" In a very rude tone. Top tip and how to respond to this "I'm so sorry, we have actually ran out of soap but we are sending someone asap to get some as the cleanliness of the pub is as important to us as it is to you" If the soap runs out go and get hand soap from the shop, don't be disgusting, did we just forget about covid? Also did the pub just forget they had 36000 people and all their friends and family passing by their establishment. Bar was 10 people deep and they'd ran out of soap. Very poor planning

My first ever visit on my way to a gig. Staff were spot on. Very friendly and on the ball. Can't fault the place. I would like to know more about it's history. It retains many original features. Will definitely visit again.

One of the female bar staff was quite rude to my son when he came up to the bar and asked if they do student discount. She angrily replied “this is as cheapest you’re going to get mate” as if he was trying to rip them off. Definitely not the best service I’ve had in Manchester. That being said decent draft selection and nice seating options. Shame about the service.

My review is because: the beer I was given, was undrinkable; I think the barrel needed changing. But the customer service and bar Atmosphere was good. And I'm autistic!

New management has come in as of 2025 and the new staff are extremely rude to customers. Was told to leave if I wasn’t drinking something even though all other people I was with had bought something. Extremely hostile to people who are sober. Awful attitude of the new staff. Should be ashamed to use the same name as the once beloved pub.

Good atmosphere, good vibes. The two bartenders were rude to us, especially long haired bartender. The Guinness’s were in plastic cups, but expected due to crowds.

have brough colleagues here several times over the past year for meetings, work socials and more. Consistently excellent service and very warm and courteous staff. Very reasonably priced.

I was wondering down Grosvenor street this evening with no intention of stopping on my way to the Manchester poetry library. Out of the periphery of my vision I saw a local king sitting outside the Flour and Flagon. Naturally I had to stop and pay my respects to the king... Little did I know I would also be paying my respects to not only the flour, but also the flagon. The small plates were to die for, the staff were a sensation and the company was second to none. I will be returning and long live the king!

Lovely pub. The staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond.

I am awe struck. This place is a kind where everyone and everything is welcomed. On a road where everything that's anything happens, you'll find your home. Cheers for everything.

Went for the open mic last night with a friend he asked to play and then was ignored all night and he left with out playing, very poor organisation don't recommend this open mic at all! their loss as he is a great musician and has a great following do better and be more inclusive !

Literally love this place!!! I'm here every week with a group of friends for karaoke and we can't get enough! Such friendly staff and brilliant atmosphere, everyone should be at flour and flagon on a Thursday!!!!

And don’t get me started on the £2.75 student carling, no other drink has got me through as many dark times. A really quintile student spot with a cheap beer available for those with a student card getting access to a cheap carling, what you think the food is going to be ...it is and that's not a bad thing I went for a burger and chips, the food was to be expected with fantastic service, good beer selection... Also it shows the sport and has a great atmosphere -charlotte-

Just stopped for a drink while I was waiting for a gig to start across the road. Was a tuesday evening, very welcoming and nice atmosphere. I was on my own and the bartender kindly looked after my drink when I nipped to the toilet. Dont know what the food is like but would go back again if im in the area again
