The Banyan Tree in Manchester

I’ve had a breakfast and evening meal here within the last month and I couldn’t speak highly enough of the food, service, vibe, value for money and overall experience. I had an amazing banni blue cheese burger most recently, which was absolutely fantastic, the blue cheese was complimented perfectly by a sweet onion chutney! My partner, and friends, all had a roast which also went down a treat! Strongly recommend a visit if you get the chance!

Ate here 3 times in 3 days- all excellent, including breakfast and evening meal. Such a nice atmosphere. All the staff were so friendly and service was good. In particular, Amelia could not have been more helpful when we got stranded when our taxi failed to arrive.

I had dinner there with my 11-year-old daughter and we really enjoyed ourselves! It was a Monday, and it seemed very busy for a Monday, but it was quiz night, so we reckoned that was why. The menu seems a bit confused, but all was freshly cooked and really well. We opted for 3 small plates and a side of fat cut chips, and it was plenty for us. We wanted dessert but were too full so we skipped it, sadly. The service was very friendly and prompt. The food took a bit of time, but for good reason. It is definitely worth a visit!

We really enjoyed our dinner here. Great value, friendly service and delicious food. There's really something for everyone. Food was a little under-seasoned, but totally fixable with salt on the table. Nice selection of drinks too. Would definitely come back. Parking right across the road is a bonus too.

Since recently moving nearby to this restaurant in Manchester, myself and my partner come here all the time. It's became like that café in Friends to us. Staff are incredibly friendly, kind, funny, and extremely attentive. Breakfast food and coffee is to die for. Great veggie/vegan options. The music and atmosphere is amazing, and they also allow pets to join you if you wish! It's also a small, family-run business so you know your money isn't going into some millionaire's pocket. I don't know what we'd do without this place and it's genuinely one of the reasons we both love it here in Manchester so much.

Delicious food with plenty of options to choose from, and they were very accommodating in personalising meals. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. The staff was really attentive and friendly; we were served by Ben, who was welcoming and made our experience even better. I would definitely recommend this place!

Incredible sunday roast dinner and a beautiful atmosphere. A shame for the scaffolding outside as it hides this gem of a place! Highly recommend!

Delicious poached eggs in sourdough with welcoming service. The poached eggs had plenty black pudding sprinkled over them, not just a little decoration but a proper part of the dish, and just the right amount of sriracha mayo. Eggs were cooked to perfection and the cheeky sausage I ordered on the side was tasty too. Mix of outdoor and indoor seating, including a cosy alcove made for a comfortable place that I'm sure would have been nice to spend longer in enjoying a drink.

Very nice restaurant that offers excellent food with very friendly service. There is also a pub quiz here on Mondays which is quite entertaining.

Had a lovely evening at the Banyan Tree. Very tasty happy hour cocktails, lovely food with great selection of vegan options. Special shoutout to our amazing server (I didn't catch your name!!) who was very funny, attentive and made the experience 10/10. Would definitely come back!

They do an awesome Sunday roast. I had the vegan roast (plus they let me add a yorkshire pudding). The service was good and the place is cosy. Will definitely be back!

This was the worst takeaway I’ve ever had and a complete rip off. The chef has changed 3 times and the food has deteriorated. Mac and cheese ball starter dry/ overcooked so no cheese. Chicken was the same and hard to cut! Mustard sauce was bisto gravy . Where has this chef trained ?? Save your money. It was dreadful and disappointing.

This is a great place to meet, eat, chat and chill. Don't let the scaffolding put you off - it is very much open, and has a great warm atmosphere. The staff are super friendly. The food is great with plenty of choice.

Myself and my partner have been coming here for years, and honestly can't believe it's taken me this long to leave a review. With how lovely the staff and the atmosphere always is we decided to spend our wedding anniversary here in the afternoon. Could not be happier with the excellent service of all the staff, and how special they made it for us. The food (as always) was delicious and great quality. So glad we decided to spend our afternoon here, and really can't wait to be back. Thanks so much Banyan Team, really appreciate you guys!

Came on a busy Thursday for breakfast and happy to see the place full! The food was delicious and really good value for money, the drinks selection is huge which is nice for someone who doesn’t drink coffee! Venue is cosy but spacious. Special shout out to Maddison for the friendly and helpful service, she was keeping calm while being super busy making drinks and running food, and she was really polite and professional while doing it all! Thank you!

Tremendous breakfast for a reasonable price. Definitely recommend the Banyan Breakfast; everything clean and quality produce, negated the need for lunch as staved off our hunger until 9pm. Good coffee and cocktails, too. Great friendly, small independent business. Will return.

We decided to wonder over here from town as heard good things. We arrived, were sat down but weren’t given a menu so had to ask for it. We were here for brunch and once we ordered the food arrived quickly but sadly the speed was evidently due to most parts of the meals having been sitting in the kitchen pre-prepped which made everything we had pretty dry. When the waitress came to pick up our plates she didn’t even bother asking whether it was good, or if we wanted anything else so an opportunity to give feedback was missed. The space and decor is lovely and it was a shame for it to have been let down by the poor service and food prep. I am sure the curry and dinner is much better like other people have mentioned but the brunch was below average for the price.

Welcoming staff, quick service for drinks and food (ordered and was munching my breakfast in less than 15mins). Well-seasoned and fresh food, good portions. Will certainly be back again!

Breakfast was very good here and fresh. Pancakes were thick, couldn't finish it but it was amazing. Between two people, myself getting pancakes and another getting poached egg on toast with avacode with us both getting a coffee it came to around £32 which is a good price for what you're getting.

As always, the staff are friendly and cheerful. The food was great and the price to match.

Service was excellent once seated. Just took a while waiting in a cramped space by the door to get given a table, although there was lots of space available.

We can't stop coming to Banyan! Great warm and comforting vibes, a rotation of regulars and fresh yummy food. Never too loud, never too quiet. We always come here to have a great relaxing start to our mornings. If you're into sweet treats the French Toast is especially good and the Bayan Croissant is our go too with their amazingly delicious apple jam. This place has made my stay in Manchester leagues better. Thanks to everyone working at Banyan, I love what this place brings to our day.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch here last week. 2 Sunday roasts and 1 banyan burger meals. Beautiful meat, perfect, fresh vegetables... 4! Massive Yorkshire pudding 👌 😋 So pleased with the quality. Very pleasant and friendly staff. Nice, modern surroundings. Will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone 👌

During my visit to the banyan tree, castle fields, Maddison our waitress really looked after us and had the most infectious personality. She really is an asset to your team and made our visit really enjoyable. Food was great, coffee was superb, overall a fantastic experience. Thank you ! Will definitely return soon.

Lovely vibe for a date or with friends. Really friendly and attentive service, accompanied by some really tasty food! Handy that its great value for money too.

We've been to The Banyan Tree many times in the past, but not for a while. I suspect it's changed ownership, but definitely had a bit of a refurb, which is nice. We have come to expect fab service, and tasty, easy food - a selection of loaded fries and burgers with slightly different toppings. With the change, the menu has changed. We went at about 11.30, so not sure if the menu changes later in the day - possibly there's an evening menu? Anyhow, the menu we had was mainly breakfast and other mains on the back served from 12pm. There was just one option for loaded fries - basic with cheese, spring onion and bacon - 3 burgers - chicken, Beyond Mountain and beef, with the option of adding cheese and/or bacon. Massively reduced options on these fronts. We went for nduja scrambled eggs, loaded fried and beef burger with no tomato, but added cheese and bacon. We ordered at 12pm on the dot. After chasing the food, it arrived at 12.50!! The scrambled eggs were ok, the fries were average and the burger came with tomatoes and cheese but without bacon. I want to the bar to inform them the burger was missing cheese and they seemed affronted when I said I didn't want to be charged for it! They didn't check on the meals after that, didn't ask how they were when the plates were cleared... I always try to write a fair review, and if there's been an issue, will make sure this is reflected where it's resolved well. The food at Banyan was ok, the staff were ok, but clearly didn't want to address any issues, the speed of food delivery was poor. It was a toss up between 2 or 3 stars. In summary, nice decor, but customer service as a whole needs improvement.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Banyan Tree in Castlefield, and I must say it was an absolute delight from start to finish. This is a hidden gem ! it is an independent family run bar hiding behind the converted church . The staff at Banyan Tree were the true stars of the show. From the moment I walked in, their warmth and friendliness made me feel right at home, real northern hospitality. Their attentiveness and dedication to providing great service were truly commendable. It's clear that the team at Banyan Tree takes pride in creating a welcoming atmosphere for every guest and makes them feel at home. The restaurant has undergone noticeable improvements over the years, thanks to thoughtful updates to the interior some of which has been hand built by the owners. The atmosphere is cozy, inviting and relaxing . The design reflects a commitment to creating a comfortable space for locals to enjoy their experience. The menu boasts a diverse selection of dishes, catering to a range of tastes. I had the fillet steak which I asked to switch out the truffle mash with dauphinoise potatoes ( i cant stand the flavor of truffle) which they happily did. if your in the mood for some small dishes to share they have options for that too I wholeheartedly recommend Banyan Tree to anyone seeking a relaxed space with northern hospitality and tasty food . p.s Also pet friendly inside and have a little menu for them

Our visit was a bit underwhelming, in a lovely spot with nice and relaxing decor and music, but we made a big mistake by ordering food. The menu should’ve been shorter as quality wasn’t the best here. We ordered a feta dip and it was inedible, it was like condensed milk with crumbled feta in… I mentioned this to them them at the end and they just sort of shrugged and said that’s how it comes 🥹 The rest of the food was very fatty, like it had been reheated maybe. Such a shame as the vibe was quite nice.

Breakfast, lunch or dinner, this place is one of my favourite spots in Manchester. It also hosts arguably one of the best quizzes in the city, it's an absolute riot with proper prizes and a fantastic host, and the cocktails are excellent, though pricey, but what else do you expect in a city?

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the breakfast croissant. About an inch of the sausage was overcooked, and the bacon looked like it had been re-heated from the day before. And I know what freshly cooked bacon looks like. It was after 10.30 and it arrived about a minute after I ordered. In the past, I have enjoyed their food. I hope this is just a one-off and that they have not gone the way of many a restaurant after Covid that have lowered their quality to save money, leading to poor quality food.

This place is a real gem. The food is great from breakfast through to dinner. They will tailor where they can and have a good awareness of allergens. There’s a huge range of drinks, great beer, wine and cocktails. More importantly as a single women, it’s safe - the amazing bar staff will look after your drink while you go to the loo without question. If you’re sat outside, they will do the same if they can business according. I can’t tell you how much I have appreciated it all week! The owners have a vision that makes it great for big groups, singles and everything in between. I can’t tell you how much I love it!

Waited 30 minutes before someone came to our table so we could order drinks. For some bizarre reason, I couldn’t order food at the same time. So had to wait a further 20 minutes after ordering drinks. Finally ordered food, only to be waiting for over an hour. After finally chasing it up, they said they had lost my food order. I left after that. Total waste of 2+ hours.

We went and it was some of the best food I’ve had around town actually. The cheeseburger and duck spring rolls were amazing & the mocktails too! Everything was perfect highly recommend.

Remember a day I was in the shop and a delivery driver was waiting to collect a delivery and the staff in the bar asked if the driver would like a drink while waiting,after she charged the driver for the drink! Disgusting!

I had blue cheese burger. 20% discount because it's Tuesday and we're students. Other half had watermelon salad. Both outstanding. Our server, another student, was simply delightful.

Came for the brunch, stayed for the menu and friendly vibes. Their french toasts and slow cooked ribs leave you craving for more, but everything we tried was delicious. Attentive and energetic staff make the place feel like a resort with their hard work and great personality. The Banyan Tree offers some creative fusion dishes like tofu rice vermicelli too. Keep up the good work - you guys will become the talk of the town. 👍

Very nice setting, great choices on the menu which was well set out, not too many choicrs but definitely enough choices, better to have a focis on quality not quantity. The service was great and the Vegan breakfast mushrooms, really well cooked tomatoes and avocado were awesome, plant based sausage, and hashbrowns filled the plate. The sourdough bread is good quality bread. Semi skimmed milk for coffee and teas would have been great rather the whole milk. All in all it was a great experience and recommended 👌🏼

Visited my daughter at Uni and brought the dogs along, we all went for a Sunday roast and was told the dogs could come too by friends so gave it a go, absolutely impressed I have never been anywhere serving a dog menu as well. The food was delicious and my dogs enjoyed theirs too which was great because they weren’t watching me 🤣 Absolutely will be going again next time in Manchester

Annoyingly this is my closest cafe… but it’s so bad. Food is alright but there service is soooo bad, don’t come here if your in any kind of rush. It takes the staff soo long to take your order. And it’s actually quite over priced for such poor service. Food is alright though, I’d recommend the breakfast. Never come in the evening - 0 atmosphere and I had a red wine that was clearly a bottle that had been left open for a really long time, was vile. It’s such a shame the place has potential but waiting 20 minutes for a coffee is a bit of a joke. And they’ve got my order wrong so many times before. It’s weird because there is actually a fair amount of staff yet still they struggle

I come here often when working in manchester for lunch & business meetings. i usually get the chicken and bacon ceasar salad which is USUALLY really good. it come today, no bacon, swapped for chopped up ham. i can live with… but a sliced up chicken on top, ice cold… evrey other time ive ordered this (5/6) times its been hot before and very tasty….. couldnt eat all the chicken as was too tough and a filling actually come out mid scoff !! also couldnt cut it into smaller peices as was given a butter knife to cut it up with. as always though vibe lovely in here and staff polite. not sure if theyve changed the chef or the ceasar salads are now cold. £10 for a cold sald, should have just went to subway. all in all not worth the money

The loaded fries here are literally my favourite thing - great sized portions and very tasty. They’ve had a new menu update with some great new additions. The only negative things is that they have this ‘home made’ bbq sauce which is so gross. It’s so watery and tasteless? I have no idea why they insist on using it and don’t buy/make regular bbq sauce. The service can also be a bit hit and miss at times, the server from the states should’ve been a bit more attentive on our last visit if I’m honest. Other than that we love coming here!

Just had the best afternoon at the banyan staff lovely especially our Henry couldn't do enough ,although the sun was out the wind blew my drink over and Henry just said what were you drinking and return with a fresh drink and clean up brilliant can't ask for more

Atmosphere was great, service was great, although the food looked good, it tasted terrible. We had: - Chilli loaded fries ; Tortillas were stale, the meat tasted cheap & bland. Chips were soggy. - Mac & Cheese - Blandest thing we've ever had. No seasoning,...

The staff were very accommodating and even though we hadn’t booked for a table of 6 we were soon enough seated! We all got a roast, 3 of which were vegan and we were all impressed! Really tasty food! Would definitely return!

One of the best pancakes that I've ever had! I ordered berries and cream pancake, was really tempted by the chocolate one as well, so really happy when it show up with chocolate in the plate as well. The staffs who served us were really really kind and welcoming. Definitely made the experience better than it can be. Photos are the berries and cream pancake and the skinny fries that I ordered.

Went here for some drinks at lunch and ended up eating here. Got the standard cheeseburger and it was exceptional. Sometimes there is nothing better than a classic juicy burger and this did not disappoint. Probably one of the best burgers I have eaten!

Visited in the afternoon to stock up on food before drinking later. Had "appetisers" and asked them to come out as a starter and then burgers for mains. All food was good quality and large, making it good value too. No wait for food, although...

Oh my word, Banyan Tree is my favourite place. Moving eldest son into his student accommodation and visited Banyan every day, at least once. The breakfasts are delicious and varied, the daytime menu is equally fantastic, but what made it even better was how welcoming...

Every time I’ve been here it’s been great. First time was just for drinks, second time I had food as well. The staff are friendly and hardworking. The food is tasty. Also, the happy hours are amazing! I’ll definitely be back again.
