Visiting the Newlands every week for lunch with my mum & dad . 🥰🥰 The food is always great quality and value for money. The staff are always accomodating and helpful. My dad has vascular dementia and this has become his regular outing which he looks forward to very much. All of the staff have gotten to know dad and his impatience but 1 of the staff members always goes above and beyond when dad is there, Kylie always speaks and gives dad banter making him smile and brings him back to us for a few seconds of what dad was before this horrible disease. He even shares his creme eggs with her. So a massive thank you to Kylie for letting me have my old dad back even just for a few seconds. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ You are a massive part of why we return to The Newlands every week.

Nice atmosphere very welcoming pub. Disappointmented in my food I ordered. Ordered a season salmon of the sizzler grill, when ordered from other sizzlers it came on the slate plate sizzling mine came on a normal plate on a bed of what looked like boiled in water vegetables and the prep chef went a little to happy with the seasoning and was like bathed in it

Food is amazing here. Staff very helpful and friendly. Visit alot. But the place does need a good clean. Cobwebs everywhere. Carpet needs a good Hoover table and chairs need a good clean too.

the Newlands is our local pub in and we have eaten there many times . The food is well cooked, good quality and a good price. We booked a table for 11 people and a toddler who was celebrating his 2nd Birthday. The food came out all together and was excellent. Thank you Sarah and your amazing team for looking after us as you always do.

We had a lovely family night out at the Newlands. We received a warm welcome when we arrived and were shown straight to our table. Staff were friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Our food arrived in good time, which tasty and excellent value for money.....it's definitely my Dad's favourite place to go.

Went to Newlands today 10th June 23, with my family for my birthday treat the food was delicious,well cooked and extremely good value for money unfortunately didn't take any pics as the food looked and smelted delightful we couldn't wait to get stuck in will definitely be going back soon Sarah and her team of staff were very friendly and helpful and very enjoyable experience throughout thank you guys 😊

My local is no longer my local all the staff have an extremely bad attitude with zero people skills unforgettable atmosphere and more rules than a Concertration Camp I'd advise anybody reading this to take your Custom elsewhere

I am not normally one for giving reviews unless I am really disappointed.However I have had a few meals here recently and I have been really impressed.My biggest complaint when eating out is that the food is cold or lukewarm.The meals I have had here have been perfect in presentation,quality and temperature.Keep up the good work.People will always pay more and keep coming back if the quality is right.Well done to the whole team at the Newlands.

Visited on the 14/02/23 for dinner for my son's birthday,deco is amazing and also loads of comfortable chairs.The whole place was warm and welcoming,greeted with a smile and shown to the table within seconds.We had our drinks order 2mins of sitting down and food within a reasonable time as we also had to sign a waiver due to allergies.Food came out and we super impressed everything was pipping hot and portions were great.I will be back and have also recommended a few friends!Well-done Sarah and Team!!!!

Had a fantastic half a rack of ribs and a ,5oz rump steaky partner had a gammon steak .The food was well served and presented by Sarah the manager. She runs the pub very well and keeps it all clean and tidy.We often visit on Saturday nights for some good live music. We will be back soon and enjoy some good quality food. Thanks again Chris&,Val

Can’t fault this pub at all, on arrival we were welcomed with smiley faced chatty bar staff, we were seated quickly and our food came out hot, fresh and very tasty! I had the steak and chicken combo and my boyfriend had a burger and both our meals were beautiful, the portion sizes were perfect, we wanted pudding but were far too stuffed, if you’re looking for a relaxed welcoming pub atmosphere with delicious food then this place is perfect

Haven't been to the Newlands since before the pandemic and decided to go on Saturday with hubby.Was not planning on staying all evening but was told there was a singer on so decided to stay.The place was packed with diners and drinkers and it was extremely busy in there.It was just good to be in a friendly packed pub with a live singer on after ages because of coronavirus and lock down.lt was good to see old friends in there after so long.Really good atmosphere friendly people and no trouble.The manager was working extremely hard to make sure people were being attended to regarding meals and clearing glasses off packed tables,she never stopped!Bar staff friendly to. Good pub and a good night out.

Last minute decision to walk up to The Newlands, excellent meal, ar a very good price. The atmosphere was enhanced by a delightful 19th birthday party and the excellent service provided by Lewis and his colleague.

Visited this pub/restaurant last night and was very disappointed.. as soon as we entered the premisesWe were told to wait by a member of staff quite rudelyEventually a member of staff came over to us We got asked a few questions, name and phone number etc Then eventually we were seated Then got told another member of staff would be over to serve us We waited and waited We got fed up of waiting and left We are extremely disgusted with the customer service we recieved, we will never visit again The staff need retraining, you cannot treat yours customers like this, bad reviews are not good for any business!

My partner went today he had fish and chips which was nice.Mine was a breakfast it was burnt a part from the beans and egg I mentioned it to someone they said it was done on a griddle I was not happy a bout it a man said that was how it is

Manager was busy but I noticed he kept an excellent eye on each customers hand clean each time they entered, or reentered premises. One person walked out as he did not want to be told. You missed good food, so next time you and your girlfriend sterilise your hands. Food was good and cheap. I tried the new Sri Lankan vegetable curry and it was excellent. Very tasty like a good Asian curry should be, The whole party....six of us...enjoyed our meals and get together.A special mention to lovely staff and Alex who is a delight.Best of luck with keeping customers rolling in. Enjoyed two great meals during our stay in Coventry. On the second visit however we were seated near the fire exit door which was in frequent use for smokers and those eating their meals outside. The door was continuously left open and we therefore sat in a draft. Perhaps it’s time to use this door as intended, a fire escape. The sanitising of the tables were not carried out thoroughly, i.e. the sides where elderly people pull themselves up from the table. Not one chair was sanitised when customers vacated. I agree with other customers reviews about the girl with the tattoos, it’s not everyone’s idea of good taste when dining out, may we suggest a long sleeve uniform.

Visited The Newlands for a meal a couple of nights ago. It was a good experience, all safety protocols in place, food was good, nicely cooked & well presented. All staff work well and are polite, I would single out Lewis and Hannah for a special mention having looked after us all evening. Highly recommended.

Thought I'd visit after a long while after lock down Covid19. Visited for lunch. It was well organised, sanitizer before entering and didn't seem too crowded. Tables spaced out well. We were served at the table. The food was quick to arrive, great service and tasted great. Very happy. Staff friendly. Well done Newlands.

Booked a table, was welcomed at the door and hands sanitised. Seated at table quickly and order was taken fairly quickly. Small problem with our drink not arriving however this was sorted by Lewis who also took our order and served our food. Lewis was very polite and helpful and deserves a special mention. Food was good.

Lovely lunch and even tempted to have desert. Arctic roll is to die for.COVID rules in abundance. Hand sanitizer at the door and then shown to your table. Lovely to be waited on for food and drink. Staff were working very hard in extreme heat especially when it got quite busy. Well done. It’s lovely to come out again

On arrival unwelcoming. Rude girl with neck tattoo and tattoos all over and mousy brown hair ridiculously rude intimidating, ZERO customer service or hospitality. Not sure why she is even working in this pub. A real shame as we were first timers in the pub and have lived in coventry all of our lives and will not be recommending this pub to anyone we know. My husband has parkinson's and explained it would be better if we sat at a table (which wasn't occupied) where it was easier for him to manoeuvre in and out with his condition and the young lady was short, abrupt and wanted to seat us on a table which would be difficult for my husband to sit on as its high up. after being very polite to this AWFULY RUDE young lady my husband with his condition felt embarrassed and didn't want to make a big deal so just took the table which was difficult for him to sit on because he didn't want to bring any more attention to his condition. We then wanted to have a bite to eat and asked the same girl the options to which she said they were not doing food! it said it was doing food at the pub and me and my husband only wanted a sandwich! so in the end we had to settle for just a drink ZERO food and her awful attitude!.... Its terrible to think you want to come out have a nice little drink during these awful times and you get un-welcomed and rudely spoken to like that in a pub which is supposed to bring the opposite atmosphere! I think management need to look at there staff and how they treat people! otherwise why are they in this job! Lots of young boys and girls needing and wanting work now who are most definitely more fit for the job over this RUDE girl. Just terrible! I hope this gets seen by the person in charge from what i can see by the name of Sarah! I would also like to add that I do not wish to talk to you on the phone number you are providing here as its very clear what member of staff i am talking about and that i do not wish to visit again! I just needed to bring it to your attention because you will have LOTS more complaints if this is how you and your staff operate!

Have visited the Newlands Public House for the third Sunday running, and each week we have been well looked after. We were apprehensive about going out after being in isolation for so long but our worries were soon put at ease . The staff were very friendly and all safety measures were in place .We will be back next week and thank you Sarah and staff for what you have all done in this strange situation.

They refused to serve me and my boyfriend because my boyfriend is polish! I have worked at many bars in the past and currently work at a bar and I know what to look for on a Id as they used his id as a excuse not to serve him when it had everything on it she claimed it didn’t! This is the second time it’s happened now and I am fuming with the service and the change considering we have been there in the past and have been served fine. There was six members of staff surrounding us in this situation trying to intimidate us! Do not recommend going to anyone and I know there’s a lot of witness and regulars that have told me personally they will not be coming back because they were in shock!

I came here with my family for a nice night out however instead I witnessed something that shocked me, I hear the conversation of this lovely young couple that went to order a drink, however when he handed over his ID they refused service to him because it was a polish ID to which was all in date and can be accepted at bars, the lady behind the bar kept making excuses as the lovely young couple (the girl mostly) pointed out dates, names and etc.. instead of serving them the lady behind the counter began to get rude and instructed 5 additional workers over to examine the ID all refused it despite it being valid, this to me looking a lot like she was trying to intimidate the lovely young lady to leave or ‘back’ down from this argument, all staff seemed hostile and argumentative towards the couple which hadn’t been rude simply pointing out how it was valid and the young lady had mentioned working in many bars and therefore knew what to look for on an ID, I am very upset and angry with service. This in my opinion was an act of racism and my boyfriend was very upset and the young polish man who was refused service didn’t say anything but seemed shocked and upset.

This is our local pub, always good for food and drink, decent prices and good atmosphere! Would recommend.

Went to the new lands for a family meal . The food is always delicious and great portion sizes . Definitely recommend the small plates and the chicken combo . Staff are always friendly and great atmosphere.

It was Christmas Eve and my husband and I decided to go to a pub for a pre-Christmas meal and so we decided to go to the Newlands. The atmosphere was lovely and the meal was delicious (the service was excellent as well). Thank you for another great meal.

I have been coming to the Newlands with my friends for years and I can say that I have never felt so wanted. Staff are incredibly friendly, always willing to go above and beyond to make your days and nights out as comfortable as possible. I would 100% recommend this place to people... Amazing management

This evening, my husband and I went to The Newlands for the very first time and had a mixed grill and sweet chilli beef and nachos as a starter. The meal was absolutely delicious and big enough to feed an army as well as being very quickly served. We have frequented gourmet restaurants and had meals three times the price but they could not compare to the food cooked for us tonight. A fantastic first impression and we shall definitely come again. Well done!

Food was served punctually. Standard sizzler food you get what you pay for. On several visits when ordering food at the bar there has been a terrible strong smell of urine from the disabled toilet to the left of the bar. Cleanliness really needs to be addressed.

Been here many times, really friendly large pub, busy, sometimes have live music etc, typical pub chain food, but never disappointing, always hot. friendly bar service, large garden for the children, and play corner, and has outside front of house tables with large sunshade for when it does get sunny! Always got fairy lights lit up at night,outside front, looks lovely, huge car park too...need to visit soon for a unicorn drink!

Visited with family and friends Friday evening and found the food to be lovely however there was a issue with the garden area constantly being closed off by a member of staff due to the room getting cold when the next table arrived. Small children were playing in the garden area which was made accessible by a fire exit door - this door was frequently being closed by a member of staff making it difficult for children to re-enter the building . Surely if the garden is open the door should be left on a latch or alternatively an extension built to gain access?? Apart from this annoyance and the disgusting level of poor cleanliness in the disabled/parent and baby toilet and in other areas of the pub everything was fine.

We have been to The Newlands this evening for my daughter's 16th Birthday. My mum popped in yesterday to ask for a reserved table, when We arrived the landlady had not only reserved our table but had decorated it and put up banners all around the area she had reserved for us.

Me and my partner have been going to the newlands for a while now and each time we come back the better it gets! Staff are friendly, knowledgeable of the food and drinks they sell and the wait on food is never long whatsoever. Food and drink is also reasonably priced; with many offers throughout the week.

We visited here on recommendation from a friend who is a regular and have to say we had a great time and great food.

Had low expectations for a £5 full English breakfast. Was surprised to find the excellent presentation the establishment offers. The breakfast was served on a hot plate hence the term ‘sizzling breakfast’. It was an English breakfast so obviously the flavours were excellent. Staff were also very friendly.

Management policy prevented us from ordering our dinner on arrival because of the rush on the kitchen. We had to wait until the rush had eased before we could order. Crazy - although it was a busy night we should have been allowed to order immediately on arrival with the proviso that there was a waiting time to be served. The kitchen staff should have managed the queue, after all that must be part of their job. It is wrong to pass the problem back to the customers. Bar staff were very pleasant, sympathetic and helpful but it still left us feeling that there was no focus on customer service.

We stopped here on our way into Birmingham.

This is a regular stopping place for us for a lunch time meal, I love a bargain and two meals for £8 is a great bargain, as is their burgers £4.99 including a drink. Service has always been good, friendly staff, very happy to recommend this place with no reservations whatsoever.

I wanted to treat myself to breakfast instead of going home after being out that morning. This is one of our locals and we usually absolutely love going there for the steaks and dinner and it's one of the better places to go near us but unfortunately I was really disappointed with the breakfast. The toast and sausages were burnt, the two waitresses seemed very unhappy which I can relate to because I am currently in a bad place myself, but to bring it out to customers at work is not ideal. I have bi polar and on days at work I still manage to be cheerful and happy to serve customers who would come where I worked but I just wanted to say that maybe the morale of the staff needs boosting and more encouragement to them. It's not an easy job, I've done similar work and at night's particularly there have been times where the staff are short and it's very busy but usually we still get good service despite waiting and lack of staff. There's a young blonde girl probably 20s and has been there a while and she's brilliant with her customer care, service, attention to detail and energy. Being on the front team it is so important that the welcome and service is cheery and that each person who enters is made to feel special. It makes a huge difference. I will still return but at the moment I won't go back for breakfast.... However I've had a few great breakfasts and service at the same chain on the A45.

Not a very clean or hygienic place. I used to love it, the staff aren't as trained. Good food still. I would recommend it during the day. The evenings it gets too busy and their isn't enough staff to satisfy the customer (my) needs

Visited twice recently. First visit service so poor we needed to chase parts of our order - 3 diners, 2 desserts with one liqueur coffee - both desserts arrived and were eaten before liquer coffee arrived - cimon sense says that this was for the diner not having a dessert.

Visited The Newlands at very short notice, booked a table half hour prior to arrival. There was a group of ten of us. The food was lovely, really tasty and well worth the money. Only fault was we were two families sat together and by the time our families food came out we had finished ours. New staff were being trained and the girl who served us appeared the only waitress on but she was lovely and very helpful.

i have been here a few times and everytime I have visited I have had to wait ages at the bar for a drink because they never have enough staff on and when I get my drink it tastes terrible (dirty lines). the toilets are the worst I've ever seen, you can smell them from the bar, urine all over the place and no toilet seats on any of the toilets . never going back again

Awful experience. Everyone queuing down the bar for England game. Harassed staff falling over themselves to use same taps and same till as manager won’t open while bar for some reason? 20/30min wait for drinks? Really? Only time I e ever known this practice is when books are being fiddled.

Had a wonderful time with my Husband at The Newlands today (3rd Feb 2018). We ordered a “share starter”, surf + turf, backyard bbq burger, pot of tea and a Diet Pepsi. The food arrived promptly and was delicious. The cost of £22 was excellent, the portion sizes were perfect and well worth the money. I love this pub, I always feel comfortable dining here and the staff are very efficient and friendly.

Having 'Vowed' Never To Return After Being Turned Away Abruptly Last January I Decided To Give It A 'Go' After Hearing The Staff and Menu Had Changed.

Quiet freezing cold Monday and even the bar lady was wearing a beanie.Found a seat beside a piping hot radiator and was well pleased with the Duck Salad (£7.29).Masses of well prepared salad and a good portion of roast duck.Beer was Thornbridge Jaipur which at £3.18 was a bargain compared to prices in central Coventry.

Wednesday 27th December, my birthday, seven of us visited the Newlands for a meal at 5.30 pm. Level of occupancy was decent but by no means busy. We needed a large table and other than one very large party (who may have booked) there was only one other table big enough, unfortunately it was still full of dirty dishes and glasses, and this was not the only one uncleared, could hardly see any staff, set about clearing ourselves, eventually someone did appear with a spray and cloth, looking round there seemed to be very little activity at other tables despite customers waiting. Went to place food order, two of the starters not available, two of the mains not available, and none of the sauce for two steak dishes either. Starters arrived in dribs and drabs, and yet for some people we didn't even have time to put our cutlery down before the mains arrived, while others had to wait another age before their mains came out, meaning some people had already finished. We were all eating at different times, no organisation or pacing in bringing our food out. Also found it hard to get served at the bar for drinks despite no crowds. A visit to the ladies had us shivering, they were freezing, as cold as outside, and the hand driers are totally inadequate. Will not be returning anytime soon.

4 of us were at the pub on Saturday for lunch we ordered 3 all day breakfast and one soup.

Went for Sunday lunch and the food was really good, service at the bar could have been a little better and the toilets could have done with a clean but overall, not bad.

Went for lunch yesterday about 2ish not very busy. Had to clear our table we put plates and glasses on a smaller table and they weren't cleared before we left. Ordered 1 starter and 3 dinners. Large mixed grill gammon not cooked properly chef forgot to put the sausages on to cook so they came after, the burger we had to ask for the BBQ sauce it's supposed to come with it on the side, chicken in the curry was dry. As is the norm when you need to talk to someone no-one comes to check if everything's ok. When I went to order a dessert fir my daughter I mentioned the undercooked gammon to the person behind the bar and didn't get any response but the chocolate fudge cake was good.

Un salto en el domingo para una comida. Plato principal nos llevó unos 40 minutos para venir y se olvidaron de mi plato de carne así que tuve que esperar otros 15 minutos para mi comida, pero era bastante agradable. Mis hijos querían un desierto, así que pedimos 2 postres. Después de otros 40 minutos nos cancelaron nuestros desiertos y fui a casa.

Decidimos salir 4 comida con mi mujer y niño. Comenzó bien. Normalmente se quejan en el momento pero poco 1 había tenido suficiente.
