Simply the best pub/restaurant in Derbyshire. Great food, friendly and helpful staff would strongly recommend a visit.

Popped in on a Thursday evening with no booking for a meal for 2. Lots of bookings had already been taken but we were shown to a nicely positioned table for two. We enjoyed meals from the Specials board, chicken in white wine sauce with mushrooms, mash and tender stem broccoli. Lemon and pepper chicken triple cooked chips, salad and homemade coleslaw. To finish we enjoyed Rolo’s cheesecake with ice cream. The menu items are freshly prepared and cooked not like the pub chains who reheat or microwave their menu items. The customer service was attentive but not too rushed. The atmosphere was pleasant with nicely spaced tables. I would recommend prebooking avoid disappointment for larger groups.

We booked for a party of 20 for my mums 90th birthday celebrations. The food and service was amazing. The staff went over and above for us. The food arrived at the same time all hot. Well done to the chef and the young guy who served us all was amazing, sorry I didn't get his name, but he was brilliant. They couldn't have made us more welcome. Thank you so much for a brilliant experience and you should be so proud of your staff xx

Six of us visited for an early Christmas dinner based on a recommendation of a friend who’d been the previous few years. What a great choice and also needed somewhere on a flat level for my elderly 82 year old father with mobility issues. Service was good, staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the food and portions lovely and more than enough as hopefully photos show. . My fussy 7 and 11 year olds cleared their plates no problem and we know where to go next year. Highly recommended.

This use to be our favourite place to eat but after covid had a terrible meal there meat pie salty scampi and chips tiny and frozen thin chips also table kept rocking but went last night with friends meal lovley couldt fault it had the lovley lasagne staff were brilliant table service good very clean toilets good atmosphere good so pleased will be going again now like we did before when you always know it was a good meal really enjoyed it

I have never been anywhere that is so consistently good. The staff are great there is plenty of choice where to sit and the Sunday Carvery is second to none for the price. Most similar places sell inferior roast meat, often tough and chewy with a lot of fat but not here it is always very nice.

Tried the double chicken and burger meal. Unfortunately the burger and chicken was extremely overcooked and dry. Wasn’t particularly nice at all which is a shame as the pub itself had a good atmosphere. Rest of the party I was with also has the same experience

We had a lovely family meal this evening. The food was lovely. All 9 of us all enjoyed our main meals and deserts. Jack, our waiter for the evening is a credit to the pub, what a lovely young man. we went to the Newdigate between christmas and the new year. it was our first time in the pub/restaurant. we were a party of seven that had booked in advance, from the moment we stepped in we were made to feel very welcome, we were seeted straight away and drink orders taken, drinks were served and food orders taken, when the food arrived it was all of excellent quality. we were even catered for on something that wasn't on the menu, the whole experience was a delight. and the waiting staff were a credit to whoever trained them. thank you for the evening out

Called in with my parents recently and all we could hear was lots of swearing from a small group sat at the bar area. We had to move tables from the front of the pub to the back to escape the disgusting language. My mum was upset.

Great social distancing measure implemented throughout the pub, easy to ring and book a table. Staff so friendly and welcoming even when rushed off their feet - always smiling, chatting with customers and themselves even at busy times. Had an early evening booking, shown to table within minutes of arriving and had drinks order taken whilst we looked at the paper menu. Pub fairly busy but drinks arrived within a few minutes and food order taken.Food arrived in good time and such food! Beautifully presented food - who would think a slice of greaseproof paper on a dish i fondly associate with camping could look just so good?! The newdigate burger is a work of art simply put together but with such style! The bubbling lasagne with its jauntily sliced garlic bread and salad garnish and a beautifully perfectly melt in the mouth medium steak with the surf and turf - fabulously green garden peas that tasted of pea - rather than day old boiled grey bullets that some places serve!A wonderful faultless meal served by engaging, cheerful, happy staff that look pleased to serve the food they bring. Newdigate team, whatever you are doing keep on doing it, your staff and food are a credit to you and the industry!

On Sunday 30th August, my Mum, girlfriend and myself had booked in to eat at your pub. Right from when we booked the table over the phone( the lady couldn't have been any more helpful) to when we left, everything was perfect. We were seated as soon as we got there, asked what drinks we would like, then we all said we'd like the carvery!. 5 mins later at the most, we were called up for our carveries. My Mum had the OAP carvery, me and my girlfriend had the standard plates. The lady dished all the meals up with what we wanted, and kindly a waitress carried my Mum's plate back to our table! All the plates were very very good portions( I was totally podged for the rest of the day lol! ) Overall I couldn't knock the food(nice and hot) and overall service! A lovely pub and meal and felt very safe with these Covid times that are going on. We will certainly be back soon. Thank you :-)

This is the first time I have eaten out since Covid -19 so was super anxious, but a huge we’ll done to the Newdigate, the set up and precautions in place were excellent along with the service provided.

Absolutely delighted with the service received at the Newdigate. Went for a meal with the family, feeling slightly anxious with regards Covid-19 but was instantly at ease with the precautions put in place. The service and meal was as always second to none. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Outside garden very big, seating is also comfortable. Portions are good. Food is also nice. The drinks on offer are also good there is plenty to choose from.

Sat outside and it was very busy, was told to queue at outside bar for for food and drinks, was over 20 mins in the queue, but was told food would be a hour wait, and it came within 30 mins.Drinks came quickly and the staff were very polite and friendly.Food was ok, steak and ale pie had lots of steak, but too much pastry for me and not enough ale flavour.Newdigate burger was nice, but standard burger.Over all a nice quiet meal in the sun

We tried to have a mea there yesterday 17/08. The outside area was overrun with screaming children. Parent totally ignoring their kids behaviour. There was no social distancing at all and not a face mask in sight. We asked how long it would be to wait for a meal and the staff member simply shrugged her shoulders. We left and will not be back

Called in this afternoon for meals and drinks and to take advantage of the govt’s Eat our to help out. Very impressed as usual. Busy, buzzing atmosphere which was great. Steak and kickin chicken both really good. Can’t complain at two rounds of drinks and great meals for £28.Ashley our server was really good.So good to see the place doing sooo well.

I came for food with a friend during a busy evening. Staff were absolutely fantastic, all extremely busy, but ensuring that high levels of customer service were being maintained. The pub felt very safe, yet also kept up its friendly atmosphere. Our food came within 20 minutes, and was presented beautifully. I would recommend you to book, as the pub was pretty full when we arrived.

Had lunch yesterday and it was just lovely. The food was great, the staff are excellent and the ambience was perfect.For the first time in months things felt like normal. Visited Saturday 18th July. Never been to this pub before. I have been to others since the easing of lockdown restrictions. I have to say I do have concerns that staff are not wearing protective masks or any PPE at all. They are delivering food and drinks to the table. They are having to get very close to customers. So social distancing is impossible. Not wearing a mask when handling food would suggest the kitchen staff are not doing this either. The queuing system means that customers are waiting in the main entrance again no social distancing, blocking the entry to the ladies toilets. Making it impossible to get into the toilet without squeezing past others. An adult in our party was told to sit down as he stood with his 3 year old. Which was somewhat laughable with staff walking around with no masks and queues of people elsewhere. I did not see any cleaning taking place apart from tables. No wiping of doors or surfaces touched when going to the toilet. The only nod to COVID-19 is a hand sanitiser outside the front door which is not automatic. You have to push it. A few arrows on the floor. The food itself was lovely. However, we are living in the midst of a serious pandemic. I don’t feel this establishment is taking that seriously. I will not be returning to a place that I feel puts its customers and its staff at risk.

We are regulars in the this pub/restaurant. I know it's still in lock down but one of the waitress (Died pink hair with glasses) was terrible she asked if we wanted anything with our main meal. I said yes I would like some chilli sauce & A pint & a half of Doombar. She walked off I had not finished asking for salt & vinegar. We never got the sauce, an other girl got the beers in. The lock down restrictions were well organised. Doombar Brilliant, main meals not bad. My pud a bit ropey.

Sunday lunch will never be the same again, great food great staff, unfortunately it is so popular you may have to wait half an hour to 45mins to get seated.But wow what great value .

For the first time ever we have been to the pub on Christmas Day. We enjoyed three delicious cocktails with a Christmas theme, and the pub was cosy and busy. The carvery looked delicious too and it is a serious contender for Christmas Day 2020 . All good!

Had the best time, food was lovely self serve so you see Santa first or after. I've given this 5 stars as there was no rush to see santa as he was there all morning so we could take as many pictures as we liked and the children were not rushed. It was a such a lovely experience, will definitely rebook.

I review this place so much you would think I was on commission. Can not fault The Newdigate at all. Never ever bad service, bad food or problems. My go to place regardless if it's for an occasion or just a treat. Delicious Tasty Fabulous

Amazing food! Amazing staff! Amazing atmosphere! Great for sunday lunch, pub was busy but didn’t have to wait long for a table or food. Bar staff were prompt with getting drinks when we we at the bar. My boyfriend and i literally love this place, highly recommend.

I have reviewed Sunday lunch places, but this was something else. Fantastic carvery great value for the money. It’s the best Sunday lunch I’ve had in a long time. The staff were great and very polite, didn’t wait too long to be seated. Great value on the beer as well

We’ve been here several times now for an evening meal with the family. The place is always busy but you get looked after extremely well by the attentive staff. We’ve all had various meals between us and everyone meal has been lovely. Excellent value too.

Visited this restaurant for a meal with friends. They have a good choice menu and on Wednesday they do a carvery. We went fir this option and it was lovely. We will definitely go back

Sunday lunch usually great however when really busy there is a noticeable dip in food quality. It’s not significant enough to stop me eating there still!

I always have the Carvery here, the meat and veg is great and you can have as much veg as you like, if ya into that sort of thing. Little pricey, no 2 for whatever offer which it's downside but still the quality is totally worth it.

Went in a party of 13. We were told that there would be a wait, but this was understandable as the pub was very busy. It’s very popular, and it was curry night. It was a lovely evening and families were in the garden with their dogs. Everybody looked to be having a good time. Staff were great, our meals came out together and everybody ate up. Good value, everything looked nice.

Visited with a party of 28 for my leaving do and we were all very impressed with how the kitchen managed to get all the meals out together at the same time. Everything was hot and well presented and the steaks were delicious. Pub was clean and a nice ambience so it was a lovely evening. Top marks Newdigate!

After seeing all of the great reviews online about the carvery at The Newdigate, I had to check it out. The food was amazing (as you can see from the picture) and is great value for money! All of the staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. The atmosphere was lovely- many families were there and there is an outside play area for children! If you get the chance to go, I would 10/10 recommend!

We eat here on a regular basis and the food has always been excellent however todau it was dreadful, my order was wrong and had to be sent back twice in fact the last time it was cold and tasteless and when management was approached they lacked empathy and it added to a terrible experience and when you drive from Nottingham telling your friend from Leicester this is the best place to eat it really fell short....super disappointed

We visited many times as this is close enough to walk and it cycle to with our young children. We’ve always found the staff to be friendly and the food is average chain pub stuff. It’s a little pricey but ok. Was recently redecorated and is pleasant inside. The beer is ok usually Pedigree, Doombar, Sharpes Atlantic type ales.

Decided to try the Sunday carvery and wasn't disappointed however be warned you need to arrive early, we got here at 11.30am and there was a queue and it's now 12.30 and it's a 30 minute wait...now more about the food... the meat was plentiful and delicious with 3 kinds of potatoes and I can honestly say best roasties I have ever had... with a good choice of veggies including cauliflower cheese.
