Absolutely superb!!! Gluten intolerance catered for and nothing was too much trouble ! Highly recommend a visit whether it's for afternoon tea or a full meal.

We have been to Millies at Ilkeston . And had to say how happy we were with the service and staff and of course the food and coffee. We have recommended to all Ower friends . They deserve 5 star rating. G @ P

We visited millies cafe after my nanas funeral,they put on some food for us and drinks.The food was beautiful ,everybody commented on how nice it was and that they will be coming again now they know its there.We couldn't of asked for any more ,thankyou so much to everyone at millies xx

Visited the coffee shop today. Service was ok. But the staff were talking about personal things and shouting to each other which was not very professional. The customers do not want to hear about someones personal life. We just want to have a nice coffee and a chat. Will not be going again in a hurry.

The cafe had people in but there were empty tables, first impressions .... the tables were ver sticky and the windowsills next to the tables were dirty. We were seated quickly, our order was taken, when our drinks were served we asked to pay by cash, we did not have any cash so were told there wasn't much data left on the card machine? but the card transaction when straight through anyway, We ordered one toasty and one slice of quiche (cold) after 45 minutes we enquired how much longer the food would be, we were told it is on it's way, another 10 minutes passed by and we enquired again, to be told the toasty had got burt so woul have to wait for another. When the food did eventually arrive it was very underwhelming to say the least, the salad garnish was tired, onion in the toasty wasn't cooked, quiche had more basil than tomato. All in all, from being seated to the food being served took 1 hour 5 minutes, will not be going again.

The Coffee Shop was nigh on empty but still had a wait to be seated. Smelled dreadful. Was told that chips were not available as they made the clothes (on sale on the same floor) smell. So did the fire that burst through the top of the ‘kitchen’ area and the bacon. Staff seemed nice enough, though not attentive.

I received a lovley Mother’s Day hamper from Millies today from my daughter was lovely ey plenty of sandwiches (with varied fillings) quiche and sausage roll with a separate cake box all of which was presented in a fabulous way. Thankyou Janine

I visited the restaurant today for the first time with my mum who is in my support bubble and my two young boys. The place is just lovely; really spacious which made us feel much safer in the current climate and beautifully decorated. The food was absolutely spot on - very good portion sizes for a reasonable price and really tasty. My son ordered a pizza which we were pre warned would take around 15 minutes as they are handmade from scratch. It was definitely worth the wait as the pizza looked amazing and it was all eaten. On top of this, the staff were just so friendly and accommodating; you really couldn’t ask for more. I can’t believe I have lived in the area for so long and never known about Millie’s. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for such a lovely afternoon :)

We visited Millies restaurant today (not the cafe as some people mix the 2 up) and the food was absolutely delicious. All the food was freshly made there and then and piping hot! The staff were and always are so friendly, happy and efficient! Nothing is too much trouble for any of them, including the kitchen staff! Will 100% be back and recommending Millies to people. 1/2hr to be seated, so knew it was busy, another 30mins to take our order, then a further 30mins to get our drinks another 30mins to receive food, which was then burnt. Mum enjoyed her small slice of cake, the older waitress clearly didn't stop the whole time we were there, the manager appeared when we raised a polite query, clearly ready for a row which we avoided as a scene in a tearoom is not appropriate at that was clearly what she wanted. Very rude lady, first time our mum has been out since lockdown :(Dissapointing

I get it was busy so forgive the 30 min wait to take my order and another 20 min wait to receive my drinks. I could even forgive the burnt paninnis and toasties. Perhaps even the miss advertised slice of cake (half a slice if having it in the deal apparently). But shouting at me because I dared to question this...unforgivable. trust me I did not raise my voice and was with my two primary aged children and my aged disabled mum. Questionable covid measures and extremely unpleasant staff (manager) means we will not be back and I would not recommend anyone else to go! M&S has just opened up down the road with a lovely cafe and staff!

I can highly recommend Millie's cafe. They provided us with an excellent afternoon tea for our silver wedding anniversary. Great food, excellent service, friendly staff & reasonable prices.

We have previously had lunch here which was great quality and value. This time we had cake and milkshakes which were tasty works of art. Friendly service, good quality and good value for money. Highly recommended.

I visted millies cafe with my little girl and her friend which they both had afternoon tea, it was excellent,the service was amazing, my daughter has multiple food allergies so is restricted on what she can have to eat ! but she didnt miss out at all at millies! They catered for her with everything sandwiches treats ice creams etc the kids and myself were very happy with the service and cant wait to book again! They made it an extra special day

Three people behind the counter going about their business! Not one of them acknowledged 4 of us waiting! No apologies for the delay in service, just chatting amongst themselves, milkshakes and cake was ok when we finally got them!! Only 3 other people in the place so they were hardly busy! Had to remind them to bring cake and one of the drinks over! Wouldn’t rush to go again! Staff are shocking

Today we had an excellent lunch for three in the coffee shop whilst shopping. My daughter said that the Cookie milkshake was the best she has ever had! We will definitely be back. Thanks very much.

Celebrated my baby shower in the restaurant and it was lovely! The food was amazing and there was plenty of it, welcome drinks and attentive service. Games, balloons and food all sorted by Millies so there was no stress for the organiser. Would recommend for an event!

We first discovered this little gem whilst shopping and decided to give it a try. It exceeded our expectations on quality and value for money. We have had lunch here a few times now and are always impressed with the quality of the food and generous portions. They have a varied menu and a great selection of tempting cakes. The milk shakes, which come in a wide variety of flavours, are a work of art. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Hidden gem. Afternoon buffet was excellent incorporating a wide range to suit any pallet, Nothing appeared too much trouble for the staff. Venue clean and layout was perfect for the baby shower.

Just had an amazing time celebrating Shell's baby shower. Food was fantastic plenty to choose from and the room looked lovely. Enjoyed by all thank you.

After a long walk round the various departments in Armstrong Mills this little cafe is a welcome oasis. Cakes cookies and good coffee well worth a visit.

We visit here at least once a week. The food is delicious, plenty of choice to choose from. Great menu, lovely home baked cakes, and the staff are so friendly and cheerful. Great place to go for a meal.

We visited Millie’s restaurant for a 4 course Christmas dinner and what amazing food we received! The food was delicious and everything was cooked to perfection! The staff couldn’t do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble. We go to Millie’s quite often and the food is always so tasty and home made! Big shout out to Sarah in the restaurant who works so hard every time we go and always provides such excellent service!!

Visited Millie’s last Sunday with my mum and daughter. We had the 4 course Christmas menu and it was delicious. The staff were very friendly , nothing is to much trouble . Would highly recommend, for there home cooked food or just a cup of their lovely coffee and a piece of cake!

Sam & her team were fantastic! Food was beautiful all diets catered for and plenty of it. Lots of teas and coffees flowing. Very attentive and kept us entertained with games. Excellent afternoon.

Yummy hot chocolate on a cold day with gorgeous caramel layer cake beautifully served with toffee drizzle and fresh berries. Staff were friendly, attentive and humorous.

We attended a baby shower there yesterday and it was AMAZING! Not only were the staff mega helpful with serving (extremely attentive) and inventive with games (who can forget the dummy bobbing) but the food was tasty, well served and delicious.

I have been promising my partner an afternoon tea for a couple of years now. So, on her birthday I took her to Millies. We were certainly not disappointed at all. The selection of sandwiches on the plate was exceptional, and, to be quite honest could have fed at least 3. The staff are all helpful and polite. I shall certainly be booking again.

Had a beautiful Christmas meal with work at Millies restaurant. No expense spared for the quality of the food. It makes you wonder how they make any money when you receive 3 courses plus a coffee and mince pie to finish, all for £18.95. Food outstanding quality and beautiful, Staff are very friendly too :-)

Went here for lunch yesterday on a visit to Armstrong’s Mill in Ilkeston. We had visited some months ago but only for coffee though at the time we liked the look of the menu. Yesterday I had liver and onions with plenty of vegetables, all nicely cooked, followed by a really good Eton mess. My wife had grilled sea bass fillet again with veg and a slice of carrot cake. Service was efficient and friendly and we will definitely return.

Lovely hidden gem! Great service and welcoming stuff plus great food. Would definitely recommend, especially if you’re waiting for your car to be serviced or MOT at the nearby Vauxhall!

We had great pleasure attending a Christening on 20/10/2019 followed by an outstanding luncheon party at Millie’s Restaurant Ilkeston, Derbyshire. The table and cutlery layout was very professional. The full Sunday roast was beautifully prepared and served piping hot. There was ample extra available if needed.There was a choice of 3 delicious sweets, the portions were extremely generous.Following the food and drink we enjoyed the entertainment and dancing.Altogether a most memorable experience and we highly recommend this venue.Ernest & Ann Quigley

We will definitely be back. The place had slipped previously and food had got too expensive. Now you can’t argue about the prices or the freshness of the food. We didn’t expect a lot for the price but we were pleasantly surprised.The menu looked really good. We will be back to sample more of it. Quiche and a salad, two teas and two soft drinks for £17. Today I attended a baby shower here. When I was told I was going to a restaurant inside Armstrong Mills I didn’t quite know what to expect (I thought it was just for shopping!) But what an absolute hidden gem. We couldn’t have wished for a better place. Delicious food, amazing staff, who also decorated the room and created a wonderful atmosphere. I urge everyone to visit, you won’t be disappointed.

We visited here, for lunch, meals were 2 fishcakes, 1 Steak Pie and a Jacket Potato, all meals with trimmings. Finally just 2 of us had Lemon merange pie and apple pie and custard. Excellent food, good portions. Will certainly be back, we felt sorry for the lady at the upper cafe as she had to do nearly everything on her own, but despite that, we did not have to wait too long, well done...

Visited Millie’s for the first time today and was very impressed with the service I was provided with. The menu is large and varied so there was plenty of choice and didn’t leave me disappointed. My food was short to arrive freshly cooked on my table which I thoroughly enjoyed, worth every penny.The waitresses was all lovely and made me feel welcome, the service was appreciated and I will without a doubt return again.

We called in for a break whilst wandering around Armstrong Mills. Both the coffee and the scones were good. It's little eccentric with the scone delivered on a slate as a plate and a chimney shape mug for the coffee - no problem just a comment.

Where does a man go who cannot cook and will not cook go to be looked after on a regular basis? There is no local competition. He goes to see Millie.I have been a regular attender at the restaurant since the day it opened. For lunch I am served salmon steak cooked in lemon juice with my five a day. The food is consistently excellent - and I am there twice a week - the staff look after me and there is a newspaper to read with no rush to leave. And if I am out in the evening and need something light in the day then it is bacon, brie and cranberry sandwiches with Millie in her coffee shop - all at very competitive prices. For what else could a man ask? Keep up the good work.

I've bee down to the restaurant at at Armstrong mill-- Millies -- twice in the last 3 months and the food as been excellent My friend had the lasagne and I had the tikka veg curry both looked and tasted amazing The second time with my daygter I had a salad cob and chips she had cottage pie again you got plenty and the salad cob was so fresh it was great The service was great and the restaurant is a nice place to be! I went Monday the first time and it was quite busy but nothing was too much trouble for them Thankyou Millies will deffanatly be coming back Deffanatly worth a visit

Millies coffee shop and restaurant is superb, great food, great friendly staff and brilliant food, really nice place to sit and relax without being chased from the table, I certainly intend to visit again.

I visited today with my mother for a tea and toasted teacake whilst we were looking around the Mill. We were not asked if we wanted butter/jam with our teacake and we were automatically given butter. When asked if we could change it to jam we had a tut and a role of the eyes from a very stroppy lady who took our order. It also cost £9.20 which I wouldn't pay in the south east where I live. I would not recommend this coffee shop purely on cost and the terrible attitude of staff

We booked Millie’s for 5 of us today for the Birthdays of two of my friends who I am a P.A to. Millie’s always look after us when we go ( often) but today they surpassed themselves! The afternoon tea was plentiful, fresh, varied and so tasty! The scones were home made and there was plenty of jam & clotted cream. At £15 a person it was worth every penny. Well done Millie’s and thank you.

Went to Millies for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. Good and friendly service, good food at an excellent price - lovely coffee too.They have quite an extensive menu and I would have no trouble in going there for lunch too. As far as I know they are tied in with Armstrong's Mill opening hours so I dont think they are open in the evening. There is a large car park.

Had a lovely late lunch at Millies Thursday late afternoon food very well presented, clean and reasonably priced, service very good Millies is situated in the complex of JB Armstrong Mill Ilkeston Derbyshire who sell clothes,shoes,furnature and antiques car parking is free good place to spend a few hours on a rainy day.

Came for lunch in Millie’s today while we were shopping at Armstrong’s Mill. Really nice atmosphere, tastefully decorated, clean and bright. Ordered at the counter - my Mum and I both had lasagne, chips and salad and a latte. First of all the portion size is HUGE. I’d definitely suggest coming for lunch on an empty stomach! Nicely laid out on the plate, all looked really fresh. Then, there’s the lasagne. It’s by far the best lasagne I’ve ever had! Really fresh, tasty, obviously cooked to order. Nice meaty mince, lovely creamy sauce and the topping was delicious. We will definitely be visiting again!

Food was awful, gammon tasted like purfume and the custard tasted and smelled off. It's a shame as the restaurant itself and staff are lovely. Won't be back again.

Popped in ahead of a meeting. Gorgeous bacon roll, lovely coffee and a warm and festive welcome. Sometimes you go back to a place and it’s “meh” - not this joint. It’s still a winner!

I have visited this Mill for excess of 10 yrs, but Millies Restaurant is the best its been looking and tasting for years.Such friendly people too..Dawn always have a great laugh with her.The presentation of food is brilliant and the selection is really good and would definitely recommend here Great food and great service

LOVED this place. Has a relaxed bistro style, spacious and on point decor. Our meal was very tasty and v reasonable price. The selection of desert was phenomenal. I had the salted caramel cheese cake OMG it was worth going just for that. I've live in the area for 10 yrs and REALLY wish I had known it was there. I always thought it was for older people but it's definitely not. If your early for a train pop in the breakfast is fab. They are looking to open in the evening at the weekend I hope they do as there's nothing like this in ilkeston or the surrounding area. Try it you won't be disappointed.

A train was cancelled. I was at a loss of where to kill an hour and a half... minutes from the station in an awesome old school department store, I found Millie’s. I had a tasty burger and some drinks. The proprietors were so warm and welcoming. They even offered me a paper to keep me occupy as I waited. Lovely food and warm welcoming service. If I’m back this way agin I will deffo call I’m again. Lovely little gem!

Went to Armstrong mill shopping fancied some lunch. Called at Millie restaurant, what a find. fantastic food excellent service. Obviously run by people who care a lot about there food and service. Very good value for money. Best I've had in a long time.Highly recommended.

Me, my hubby and son decided to go somewhere nice and a bit different for breakfast. Me and my hubby have been once before and really enjoyed it. the same today we had full English breakfast which was a very good portion of everything, the food is really nice and tasty too. The lady that served us was very polite and friendly too. We will be going again soon. Also in this hot weather its really nice and cool in there with the fans on. this restaurant is lovely with the nice décor, it makes it a really chilled out place to go.

There are two facilities - a coffee shop on the 2nd floor which is wheelchair accessible via a lift and a restaurant on the first floor which is only accessible via a short stairway. Both venues are run by the same friendly family. The coffee shop serves light lunches as well as drinks and snacks. The food is yummy in both and good value too. I would heartily recommend the cream teas it is so nice to have dainty sandwiches - so rare nowadays!I welcome the availability of soya milk and non dairy spread.

Now it's only recently I heard about Millies Restaurant in Armstrong Mill and the word going round is all positive, so I decided to give it a go. I was not disappointed. I ordered the pan fried sea bass. The presentation was incredibly good, The food was cooked to perfection and the surroundings were comfortable and relaxed. This place really is worth a visit.

Called in Sunday. A very warm day. Tea for two no milk. Cheese on toast, brown and Scrambled egg and salmon on toast, brown. All toast is brown. Very nice indeed. Served by Dawn and the boss. All staff very friendly and cheerful. Will go again.

I visit Millies on a regular basis with my uncle for coffee food and a catch up and we are always greeted with a smile and a friendly greeting. Nothing is too much much trouble. Lovely staff and tables always clean. Nothing is too much trouble and very welcoming atmosphere would highly recommend.

Pleasant surroundings with friendly staff serving well cooked and presented food at reasonable prices.Just wonder if its necessary for the whole order to be written out in full,letter for letter,and added up manually at the side of a cash register.This did seem to slow down the queuing and ordering process.

Really enjoy the Coffee shop & Tea rooms so decided to give the restaurant a try and so glad I did. What lovely staff they have here, a big smile and a very warm and friendly greeting welcome's you. Restaurant is very well decorated, loved the scooter display, very clean and well laid out. Breakfast cob and drink hit the spot, well worth a visit if you want a break from shopping in the Mill.

The Light English Breakfast recently sampled was just enough for the smaller appetite - and the inclusion of freshly laid eggs were delicious.The atmosphere is warm and friendly and staff very eager to help.A large choice of meals of varying size with regular changes to "specials" The tables and chairs very comfortable and well set out. Settees in the restaurant for those not partaking of a full meal.On the whole a very good experience and will be returning very soon.

Having been here a few times now, we came for a Mother’s Day special. The food was lovely as always and the staff are always very friendly. Whether it’s a lunch out or tea for 2, this place caters for you very well.

The cakes and freshly prepared food look good but I ordered vegetable soup with brown bread and a black coffee. The soup was canned, and gloupy. The bread wasn't fresh and coffe strong and bitter.i was in a hurry so didn't change it or complain. It wasn't advertised as home made soup but my meal at over £6.00 was overpriced.

Have visited Millie’s many time recently and have never been disappointed the food is always freshly prepared and tasty. It is nicely presented and served by friendly efficient staff.

Thank you.Our home cooked meal of shepherds pie, with perfectly cooked veg was delicious and very good value at £6.... I haven't been to Armstrong's Mill (in which Millies Coffee Shop is located) for quite a while, and I am very glad I returned as, besides all the good clothes and bargains within the mill, there is this excellent little café on the 2nd floor.Every time I have been before I have missed it after closing, but we were lucky this Saturday to find it open and still serving food. We ordered two plates of scrambled eggs on toast, which were priced at £2.50 each - very reasonable for what was a good sized meal that kept us going for several hours into the evening. Pots of tea are priced about £1.50 each (this might not be exact, but it is near as damn it correct) and these are reasonably sized also.There is plenty of seating and when you entire the café you are immediately greeted by a large stuffed bear wearing an apron, which is brilliant. It's very cute and every place should have one of these.You can get absolutely lost in Armstrong's Mill and so this place is absolutely invaluable. I would recommend anyone visiting the mill to stop here and refresh themselves. It is worth pointing out that I was in the Coffee Shop & Tea Room - there is an additional restaurant on the 3rd floor I believe and, whilst I haven't visited there, I am sure it is just as good.

My first visit but will definitely go back. Such a friendly welcome from all those working there . Ordered a turkey roast dinner . When it came I made a comment to my friend that it was like a Christmas dinner . Next moment a couple of Christmas crackers appeared . My meal was delicious . Well cooked ,quality food . I was even given a small pot of cranberry sauce to go with it . I was drinking a cup of coffee when a small box of quality chocolates was placed on the table for us to enjoy. Marvellous . It’s the little touches that make all the difference. 5 star service ,5 star food , 5 star value.

Place is well set out and clean. Had a reasonable cup of coffee but then decided to try a hot beef cob. Impressed they had gluten free bread for wife, but cob came with meat that did not fill the cob and gristle running through it. Cob overpriced at £3.50

Situated on the second floor Millies is a great addition to Armstrongs Mill. Tables are well set out with comfortable chairs, good decoration and a decent menu choice all at a very reasonable price. Service from the girls is welcoming, friendly and quick.
