Had food from here was disgusting, cold and dry! Staff were lovely, however the chips were cold and rock solid and the garlic bread was hard and inedible.

Only stopped in for one on the way through. Clean and tidy with friendly staff.

Went for Carvery lunch on Mother's day fantastic meal with family members 👍😊 would certainly recommend coming back.

Had a meal here because the normal pub we use was closed for refurbishment. The staff were really friendly and helpful. However the food was expensive for the quality. The only good thing was the food was warm, only just though. Husband had a steak, he said the steak was OK but the chips weren't nice. I had a lasagne which was £10.99 It looked like a cheap shop bought one with cheese grilled on the top. I paid extra for chips as I don't like garlic bread. Chips were only just warm. I spoke to a member of staff about the quality. She said that my comments would be passed on. We will not be returning.

Very nice pub grub served at a great price by very helpful friendly staff, they also went above and beyond to cater for my wife's dietary needs, will definitely be back again.

Went with my partner for Sunday lunch Carvery, won’t be going again, I went for the large, wife for regular, she got served first and came back with two of the smallest slices of beef I have ever seen, when the server was asked she replied, you only get two slices with a regular Carvery, the rest of her meal was hardly edible, roasted parsnips not cooked, roast potatoes (obviously frozen) overcooked. Mine want much better although large came with 4 slices of meat, which was over cooked and dry,rest was much the same as my wife’s withers the exception of the mashed potato, which was undercooked and lumpy! Will I be back, no, although listening to what two of the bar maids got up to last night did provide some entertainment, fortunately we were adults and had no young children with us!

I came for lunch today & had a beautiful meal of burger & chips, followed by sticky toffee pud with cream, really enjoyed it

Was 100% the worst Sunday dinner iv ever had in my life The meat was like chewing on cardboard They do not put lids or tin foil on the food when noone is there so everything either had a skin on it or was dry as anything. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone Even my pint tasted like line cleaner And to top it all off I have been being sick and had the runs all night

It was boxing day so my friend and I did not expect to find anywhere to eat, we just called in on the off chance without booking. The carvery was amazing, the staff were so helpful and it was probably the best piece of Gammon I have ever tasted, what a great place and value for money.

Well that was a busy one. We started ordering in twos so we.didnt lose our seats. Absolutely great service from all the staff, especially Eloise, Jack, Beth and Maria. Always smiling and always happy to help. Loved the Christmas get up too. Made it feel like a real party!!

Good food but a bit pricey. I go on a Sunday for a carvery but there are more options. Can get rather busy at times so it is a good idea to book in advance. Small children's play area at the rear, large car park and outdoor seating. Welcoming staff and helpful

The only disappointment was the wait but it was busy (always a good sign ) and staff were very apologetic. Food was well worth the wait.

Since it's been revamped and under new management it's amazing. The landlady is the friendliest pub lady I've met and she makes you feel so welcomed. We went for a carvery which was yummy, again the tall lady at the counter, cannot fault her, lovely with a big friendly attitude and smile, loved it! Bonus points doggies are welcome, there's a massive garden at the back too so plenty of space.

The young barman was great, welcoming & engaging...that's as good as it got! The 'regular' sized carvery was a joke! We stood waiting to be served for 10 min, a girl from the bar even walked passed us twice with desserts & didn't alert the kitchen before she went out for a vape or something, another, switched on, lady from bar finally asked if they knew we were waiting & went into the kitchen for us. The whole carvery was terrible, from the tough, dry, horrid roast meats (the worst roast joints I've ever tried!) to the soggy sitting luke warm veg, bullet peas, lumpy mash & gravy granule gravy....so disappointing & definitely not worth the price & glad we didn't pay extra for the upselling 'pigs in blankets'. As soon as we'd got our plates to serve our own veg the guy decided that was a good time to replenish the accompanying sauces so that meant we were left waiting again holding our plates! It doesn't take much to get a good carvery roast done well but don't go here for that experience! We were going to get take home puds but decided not to give them any more of our money! Shame on you The Mallard..we will never be back again after 2 awful meals there's no 3rd chance for our custom! Don't recommend any dishes.

Came here for work.....WOW This place is stunning, exceptionally high standard of cleaning throughout, the cleaning staff here should be commended... The kitchen although will used looks like new spotlessly clean !! The Halloween decorations are fantastic this venue has a huge beer garden with children's play areas and climbing frame... Huge carpark and a carvery deck. I wish this place was closer to home cause this is everything you could want from a local pub. Land lady was very welcoming and clearly takes a lot of pride in the place. What a beautiful place to spend a few hours and grab some me time with the kids. Pool table and sports for all round entertainment. Heated smoking area

We had the pizzas burger, chicken burger and sizzler. The food was amazing enjoyed every mouthful. The pizza were hand made and the kids loved them. Friendly staff and accommodating atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back

I went with the kids to the charity day. Was great fun. It was very busy at the pub lots going off. Food was great kids really enjoyed the ice cream fun

We use the Mallard every month or so, usually for the carvery. We were there about 3 weeks ago on a saturday and enjoyed a nice carvery in a quite full, lively pleasant atmosphere. BUT, today on this Saturday lunchtime I think there was only two other customers. There was no carvery, it appears to served on Thursdays and Sundays only now. So we chose two baguettes from the Specials menu. Despite the pub being virtually empty they took 30 minutes to arrive. One half of the order was incorrect and we had to ask twice for our (horrible) gravy. The baguettes were overbaked and very crunchy and the stuffing was definitely an old carvery stuffing ball chopped in two. All throughout our visit there was plenty of mirth and merriment within the kitchen including the "f" word within earshot of the eating area. We can live with most of that but the quality of food was pretty poor. Quite sad really because something has gone wrong.

Atmosphere is relaxed here. But when the sport is on its better. Been here lots of times over the years . Great place to take the family

We went to pick up menus for Christmas day and decided to stay for an evening meal on Fri 22nd sept. On ordering 2 carverys, we were told there would be ten minute wait while the food was refreshed. We sat near to the serving area and watched while they lifted a few lids of pots but nothing else was done, we waited 20 minutes expecting what little remains of meat there was to be replaced with fresh meat, this didn't happen. We were given tiny portions of the dried up meat and had to ask for Yorkshire puddings and gravy. The food was all over cooked, the potatoes were just hard shells and couldn't be cut. We aren't the type of people to make a fuss or complain but when the waitress asked was everything OK we did tell her it wasn't, to which she replied she would pass on the message. We thought we would at least get an apology but no such luck. The food was quite obviously what was left over from the lunch time, what they called refreshing the food was just warming it up. We went with the intention of looking into booking for Christmas Dinner, I'm afraid we will never eat there again. It was the worst meal I have ever had.

Charge you for a full carvery only to find they don't have everything that you have paid for, constantly waiting for one thing or another.utter chaos

Food was foul, service terrible, ate in and our orders came out wrong, carvery, potatoe lumpy peas rock hard none of it was nice .... family ordered and their food came in 2 parts half an hour after each other .... poor ... stella was foul also.

Only positive thing about this place is the friendly blonde staff member behind the bar. First time here for me and I've never been to a carvery that I don't enjoy until I came here. The meat was dry and chewy, most of the vegetables were burnt, Yorkshire puddings were burnt, pigs in blankets were burnt, gravy was lumpy, mash tasted like smash (don't know if it was or not, guessing not because it was also very lumpy). Other meals were very small and peas were tasteless. Will not be coming here again and will encourage others to avoid.

The atmosphere is nice. But that's it. Food was diabolical. Could have used the beef burgers as a Frisby they were that old and hard. Southern chicken burger came with absolutely no sauce . Not one member of staff came past to check on you and see how your food was. Definitely won't be back.

Been in for the first time for year's. Pub not very busy but staff still slow. Food was below par pub food. Tables not cleared even though there wasn't many people in staff seemed to be sitting down socialising more than working.

Drinks are pricey with average service ok for small families as there is a spacious outdoor area.

Worst Sunday carvery we've ever had!! It cost £70 and the food was inedible!! There was no cauliflower cheese, yorkshire pudding was rock hard, broccoli was hard and undercooked and mashed potatoes were lumpy!! We had to wait 20 minutes for the roast potatoes and they were inedible!! Nobody was available to complain to!! No organisation at all!! Will never go back there and 100% would NOT recommend!!!

Did originally come for a carvey and have been for a few times and it just seems that it's been getting progressively worse. It seems that the kitchen was in utter chaos. I decided to have a burger as the carvey just didn't look appealing but this burger took just over an hour to make and when it came it just looked boring and not how it looked advertised. Obviously everyone has bad days l, so I will try this place again and see if standards have improved, the issues didn't just stop at the food, the servers just didn't look happy and and you could tell there was some bad atmosphere here, I genuinely felt like we were at a Karen's restaurant but without the foul language 🤷 so I will try this place again to give it a second chance.

Delicious carvery. Only one fault.....HARD Yorkies.... Shame. Meat extremely tender. Yorkies are left out so go hard as they're standing.

We eat here a lot but was really disappointed today. We were only customers but still had to wait 45 mins for food. My sons chicken nuggets qere overcooked and rock hard. My daughters chicken new yorker burger was overcooked and my lasagne was inedible due to it being overpowered with what tasted like a whole tub of mixed herbs. Chips didnt taste very good either. None of us ate more than 2 bites of food before leaving

The bar was absolutely trashed. There was glasses half way down the bar and we was queuing 4 deep with very little bar staff on. Shocking customer service especially when the sun is shining.

Went to enjoy the nice weather over the weekend, and as much as the beer garden is great the attitude of the staff was appalling. A lady with blonde hair was making rude comments about other customers while serving other customers behind the bar. I think the lady might be the landlady can’t exactly be sure but I hope it wasn’t as that is a disgraceful attitude to have when it’s paying customers that keep the pub going. Definitely won’t be going back.

my self and my family had a carvery on the 14/5/2023 as it was my wife's birthday we had a party of 5 people in my party the time was 1:30 PM since the mallard got took over the mallard as gone down hill I GIVE THIS PUB 1 STAR and when I complained at the bar after 4 minutes the chef came to my table and he was very angry shouting what was wrong with my dinners i told him there were no veg just pees and roast spuds and parsnips was over cooked and burnt i had to tip the gravy dish on one side to get the rest of the cold gravy out WILL NOT BE GOING TO THE MALLARD ANY MOOR :(

Had the hunters chicken it was slimy and fatty it tasted funny, the peas were hard and the chips cold,it was vile!! we also had the children’s pizza meal what a rip off!!! 2 slices of pizza for £5.79 Partner had the chicken New Yorker burger and he left some of that and he never leaves anything. I would not recommend this place.

Have been here a few times used to be really good for food but went to sunday lunch last week and it was awful. They were running out of beef so had hardly any meat and what I did have was awful. They brought out some more veg it was that hard and cold so got left. It's a shame it's going downhill because the actual pub is very nice. But the food seems to be run on solely making a profit and not the quality.

Not been for along time went Tonight with wife and the food was a utter Discrace wife ordered cup of Tea and even that came quarter of a cup and she had too wait 15minutes for the Privilege we won’t be going again

Awful, waste of good money, had the carvery, no green vegetables, rest luke warm. Meat ripped rather than cut..give it a very wide berth. Queues horrendous at bar.

As a duck fan i was amused by the name and nice details like mallard etchings on the glass of the doors and other duckie items around the pub but apperances can be decieving. Nice looking pub and friendly staff but very mediocre food. Frozen chips tasted terrible and like they were cooked in old oil. The wings, while crispy had barely any sauce on them. The bacon burger was pretty pathetic but edible. There was a carvery option but by 1pm it was long closed. There were options for snacks and sandwichs but no times given for when they were available. Went for a birthday lunch, would no go again.

We visited today for a Carvery and noticed that the entire place has changed. Wow it’s all I can say. How does a little pub like this get it so right. The food was great and the atmosphere was just as good. Well done and...

Food took an age to appear and when it did was completely burnt and freezing cold. Pint of cola was completely flat. The dining area was dominated by an abandoned lit up midweek carvery. Tables and floor were dirty despite the place not being busy. The owners were having a great laugh with a table of completely trashed adults with very young children making a scene and lots of noise. I was refunded for my food with an apology and many excuses, but an excuse is just that. The fact that plate of food was put in front of me is inexcusable, the worst meal I've been served in a very long time.

Place has had a refit which has modernised it and gave it more of a family orientated place. staff are friendly food is ok however the beer selection is only basic

This was my first visit to The Mallard and I was not disappointed it was our anniversary 46 years and just wanted a carvery. I had the beef and it was delicious there were lots of vegetables to choose from carrots beans peas parsnips broccoli and cauliflower cheese (I apologise if I missed any out) and potato mash and roasts. My husband had turkey and gammon, which was also cooked to perfection. We will definitely be going back. Many thanks and the staff were amazing too.

Absolutely love this place, food is delicious and all staff are pleasant and helpful. Kids love coming and playing on the park and there's colouring to keep them entertained. Entertainment on most weekends can highly recommended

Shocking food came out at various time slots. On our table we got our food then it took 1 hour before the last main turned up. Then had to wait another 45 minutes just for ice cream avoid this place unless you have 4 hours...

Party of 20 took over 2 hrs to get food the staff are useless to say the least

Friendly venue - good entertainment.

I had the steak but it was tepid . The extra side I ordered was onion rings , when they arrived and they had been pan fried on one side with the steak ,so the batter had not expanded and gone crispy. My daughter had the fish n chip meal but the fish tasted off. I have heard the carvery is okay. Perhaps we was just unlucky. I have not been back there but I have a friend who eats the carvery and enjoys it.

Took my daughters for my birthday meal on Thursday 1st December at 6:30pm. Straight in, straight to the table. Good choice of food on the menu. Prices were great. Food was amazing no complaints. We had 2 of the fish and chips meals and 1...

Ordered a mixed grill stated it would have chicken wings. However no chicken wings were on but assumed they had replaced them with the chicken breast they’d put on Instead. We wasn’t told that it would be replaced, it just was. Our meal was also meant to come with a Cumberland sausage which it didn’t. Told the lady on the bar she said she would find out what had happened, Whilst ordering our puddings. Waited for pudding for 20 mins. Bar lady was on a break eating at a table in the middle of the pub. Partner went to ask where our pudding was she went into the kitchen and appeared with our puddings. Everyone needs a break, however there was no cover on the bar just her, who had to answer our query with a mouth full of food. When asked again about the missing sausage just get told that they was sorry but the chef had just forgot. Puddings were hard and stale. Wouldn’t go back again.

We had a really nice experience here. We were waiting for an appointment at Ilkeston Hospital and were hungry so popped in here. We were greeted by a lovely lady who got us our drink and we ordered food. Good choice and good portions. Fair prices too. Food was lovely and my partner who is veggie said the macaroni cheese was lovely!

I would give this place and avg rating Mainly because it was decorated nicely and the staff were helpful, beyond that there wernt many good points. We went for a carvery and most of the food was overdone and warm at best even the Yorkshires were tough to eat we have been here before and the food was great so it seams to be very hit and miss, were still looking for a decent place with consistent standards to the food quality. Overall at a push we would go again, hope it improves.

All good. No waiting and red hot grub. What more can you ask for in a carvery. There is a nice selection of vegetables and meat.

Ordered a mixed grill with a well done steak to have been given a medium rare steak, over cooked sausage, hard peas and soggy chips. When asked how the meal was, I told them I wasn’t happy for them to then turn round and say ‘sorry about that’ no offer of a refund or another plate to be made.

From entering The Mallard the attention to detail from the members of staff were amazing. Hannah and her male colleague were attentive, friendly and thoughtful and could not have helped more if they tried.

Lunchtime, admittedly, but zero atmosphere. Pleasant staff and decent beer, but chef completely out of her depth. Waited 40 minutes for a burger "because chef hasn't made one of those before". Not worth the wait. Won't be coming back.

Went to the Mallard with the family, and we had the carvery. Very nicley cooked. The staff were nice, our friend Yvonne really made us all feel welcome. Shes absolutely brillant, a really nice person. The food was stunning. Provably one of the best Carverys I have tasted. A special thank you. Priya and I will definitely be a returning customer.
