Bennetts Bar, Restaurant and Hotel in Erewash

Table booked for 2 of us at 7pm. Chef was off sick so the kitchen was closed. Nobody thought to contact us to save us the 1 hour drive to get there. The booking was in their diary (the guy showed us it), the boss was called and didn't answer. A complete and utter waste of time.

We booked a table over the phone for 5pm. When we arrived, we were told the chef doesn’t come until 6:30pm (we were not told this on the phone). When we then arrived at 6:30pm, we were told the chef hadn’t arrived so we had to go elsewhere. The gentleman we spoke to wasn’t apologetic at all, and we weren’t even called to be told (even though they had our number). We had pre paid for this on groupon too, ridiculous. Wont be going back.

Staff were so friendly and they made me feel very welcome. I had the Rogon Josh chicken curry and the medium spice was just perfect.

Recent poor reviews were disconcerting before our arrival. Can only speak for room 3. Large, clean, facilities equivalent or better than a Premiere Inn. Shower is magnificent. Problem with the hairdryer was sorted immediately. Car Park is good and free. Didn't dine so can't comment. Would stay again without hesitation. Cost half the price of anywhere within 20 miles on a Saturday night.

Awful Filthy room, Kettle full of mould Walls newspaper thin, heard other guests going to bed all night. Window sill filthy and full of cigarette butts, discarded by people obviously smoking in the room. Bed was lumpy, extremely uncomfortable and pillows were flat and hard. No mattress or pillow protectors. Toilet seat hanging off. Terrible nights sleep followed by a morning without a hot drink All for £87 for the night, will never return or recommend to anyone.

We came here as a family at 17:30 on a Saturday night. There was not a single soul in the restaurant or bar. The sound of silence was only disturbed by the sound of the microwave finishing just before our food was served. You could tell it had been microwaved as well. The chicken tikka starter was not very nice. My wife left hers for fear of being ill the next day. Mains were slightly better, but definitely not restaurant quality. Kids ate all theirs and weren't ill, which is the only positive to come out of our visit. Also, the 'pint' of coke that I ordered was definitely not a pint. It's safe to say that we won't be returning.

Had a takeaway on saturday night -AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL-- Chilly chicken --TOO salty-- Rice --rock hard/tasteless-- Garlic Nan --must have been out of a packet !! Absolutely waste of money ..

We had booked to stay 2 nights after going to Clifford spa. On arrival the room we were supposed to be in hadn’t been cleaned and they couldn’t find the key so we were given room 4. Very basic door frame was broken and not the cleanest. After attending the spa we wanted to clean up before going for food and the water was freezing no hot water. After contacting reception they advised they had contacted the engineer and should be back on within hour this was not the case. After another hour contacted reception again to then be told engineer is stuck on another job and no clue of when they would be attending. Not great so we decided to leave and we’re told it’s not their fault and the kitchen had hot water. When leaving other guests were also complaining and they just didn’t seem to care all they were interested in was the restaurant. Do not waste your money book somewhere else

Outstanding ! Never been made to feel so welcome and valued as we were at Bennetts Hotel in Long Eaton on 11th and 12th June 2023. The owner and staff are so friendly and kind, nothing is too much trouble, the hotel is clean and airy with everything looking like it's new or less than a year old. The homemade Indian food is totally outstanding, extremely good price too !!! We honestly could not recommend this hotel enough and will stay here again next time we go to the spa at Long Eaton which is literally 2-3 minute walk from the hotel.

Went for an impromptu overnight stay on a b&b rate. Check in was simple as pre paid and had room 2. Big room, full of potential and not much else! Big comfy bed with thin pillows and a quilt that was too small. TV was other end of the room and the remote didn’t work. Had to retune the TV to get any channels. No sugar with the tea and coffee, no iron in the iron box, no ironing board and very little storage. No info in the room, hotel or local. The radiator next to the bed would not turn off - even with the TRV turned to off it was hot, so had to open the window. Room 2 is front of the hotel so then disturbed as its on a main busy road. The highlight was the evening meal - it’s an Indian restaurant and you get 20% off as a hotel guest ( if you remind them you are staying or they ‘forget’!) Food was very tasty, service was ok and it was an enjoyable meal. After a restless night with the road noise and heat, we went down for breakfast to be told the chef hadn’t turned up (again). We were offered a cup of coffee, which was refused. Eventually told we would get a £15 refund, only for it to be £10 when actually returned. Overall a disappointing hotel that has a good small Indian restaurant. We wouldn’t stay again.

Not a great start to check in when there are children and women hanging around the reception very dated and needs a good tidy up we had room 4 which was a lovely room nice and big but freezing we tried closing the window but it was broken we did eventually get some heaters after asking several times we had a meal in the restaurant which was excellent the mint and yogurt was very spicy we informed the manager that we would be leaving early his reply was there would be a night porter which there wasn't we was hanging around reception trying all the doors and ringing the bells I eventually got through to someone on the phone to let us out which in event of fire is really bad we will not be visiting this hotel again it's got loads of potential but with 1 man trying to do everything will not work

We bought a Groupon for the restaurant wanting to try out a new place. So happy we did! Everything was beautiful from start to finish, really surprised this place wasn’t packed out. Service is fab, personal and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Food delicious, served beautifully and the portions are very generous (might not look large on the photo don’t be fooled we can eat and were absolutely stuffed) I asked for recommendations as I wanted to try a dish I hadn’t before and the lady was so helpful and very knowledgable. We felt right at home and can’t wait to come back again

Had a voucher for afternoon tea. Worst one we’ve ever had. Nothing was home made all cheap shop bought. It probably could have cost £5 between us. Even left food which you normally never do as normally take some home! Paid £34 for voucher. Probably lovely for Indian meals but avoid afternoon tea! Pictures look better than in real life.

Our family visited this venue last Saturday - we were very impressed by the restaurant, ordering was from a simple menu offering lots of different curries on offer with the management offering help if required with food choices. To start we had Poppadoms/selection of pickles, our starters included Chicken Tikka, lamb Kebabs, etc. The 5 of us all tried a different main dish enabling us to try each other’s, all of the dishes were absolutely delicious. Served with a choice of rices & Nan breads. Prices are competitive too. The actual restaurant is part is a hotel with fresh white crisp tablecloths & linens , very spacious and beautifully decorated. The only negative is that there’s not much atmosphere, but as a family we could speak amongst ourselves without too much background noise. Staff very attentive. No complaints whatsoever and will definitely be coming again.

We visited today for an afternoon tea and whilst the staff were friendly the food was disappointing and cheap in taste and quality. Our first clue should have been that the toilets absolutely stunk, there was a sewage smell and one of the toilets was leaking. A toilet roll had been chucked or it had fallen in the bowl. We should have left then. In the time we were there, they have no other customers, also never a good sign considering you have to book in advance for an afternoon tea. We ordered the afternoon tea, normally you receive a menu and the server will discuss allergies and any dietary requirements, this didn’t happen. We were asked what tea we would like but it was herbal tea sachets not loose leaf which is more common for an afternoon tea. A selection of sandwiches was presented on a platter with plain scones and pork pies! Two iced cherry topped pies in a foil casing and two bakewell slices. It was this that gave it away that the afternoon tea was unlikely to be fresh and it had simply been a shop bought selection plated up. At £14.95 per person it’s not unreasonable to expect the food to be homemade or locally sourced. The scones tasted shop bought and the sandwiches had a hard crust to them which occurs when sandwiches have been cut and exposed to the air. The bread used was the cheapest of the cheap white bread and the filling were very cheap also. Typically an afternoon tea has finger sandwiches these were cut into quarters and you could over look that if the food was tasty. The best thing about the whole experience was being able to catch up with my sister and the waiter was friendly. However overall the whole experience was a complete let down, at the price I paid I could have gone to Asda and bought a serving platter and done a better job. We would never revisit the restaurant based on our experience, stay at this hotel or recommend it to anyone we like. Sadly the whole experience was a let down and the owners really need to work on their interpretation of an afternoon tea.

Ordered an Indian takeaway tonight and for the first time we ordered from Bennetts in Long Eaton, and we can honestly say it was absolutely delicious! Past experiences haven't always been the best ordering Indian takeaways (personally I find that Indian meals taste better straight from the kitchen onto the plate).But I can honestly say the quality of the food tonight was exceptional. Brilliant flavour, well cooked and quality was not diminished in anyway with it being a home delivery. Good value for money & we will certainly order from them again!

Booked last minute on a business trip. Room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Convenient location to walk to local shops etc. I had the chicken tikka on room swervice the portion size was brilliant, it cam with naan and rice as well. The food was lovely well worth the money. Ordered a takeaway from Einstin's for the first time yesterday. Excellent first impression! Delivery was less than 40 mins from the time of ordering; I live very close by, but this was still faster than most other local takeaway services. All dishes cooked with obvious attention to detail, Lamb Makhani was a particular highlight.The couple of staff I spoke to were pleasant and helpful. On the strength of this, I'd be happy to try out their restaurant. Very pleased with the quality of the food and service overall.

5 stars doesn't justify the experience received, I have eaten in the bar numerous times and always had great experiences. Decided to order takeaway and I cam honestly say the food was amazing! I regularly eat out with a curry club when working away in Essex and have tried hundreds of dishes, this has to be the best by far.Compliments to the chef and all the staff. 5 stars well deserved.

Very polite and friendly service when ordering. Speedy delivery and the food was piping hot with wow factor presentation and delicious flavours. Would highly recommend and will definitely be ordering again soon.

Just a thank you for a lovely lunch for my mother’s 80th socially distanced of course the lady in charge was very attentive and made the day special for us thank you.

Where do I start? This is probably the worst meal I have even tasted. The portions sizes were perculiar for the starter ( one being huge and the other tiny) and the main courses were disgusting. Tinned/ frozen veg and what tasted like instant mash! I had the misfortune to order the belly pork from the a la carte menu and this was more like shoe leather, I couldn't cut it with my knife. My wife ordered a 10oz steak, which in my opinion was not this size, but she did say the chips were good? We wanted to support a local establishment and after recently being taken over, but will definitely not be going back or recommending this place. Interestingly they also advertise on social media that they do 2 for 1 on drinks, but was not mentioned within their advertised times. With the exception of my main, we were still expected to pay the rest in full. I did ask to speak to the owner/manager, but we're told that they weren't there, but would ring me ( still haven't). My advice is avoid and spend your hard earned money elsewhere. I had to give one circle, but it didn't deserve this!

First time visiting Bennett’s and would definitely go again. Service was great, staff friendly and accommodating and the food was freshly cooked and hot !!! Thank you for an enjoyable evening. See you again soon.

I went on Friday 13th March at night and have to say the waitress was outstanding! 5 stars to her all the way excellent customer service and very helpful. The parking is atrocious and actually scratched the bottom of my car as the drive in is so low when you drive in. Not good for parking as not many spaces. Clean and tidy restaurant my meal was steak it was okay nothing special but the chunky chips were great. Drinks in my opinion very expensive one shandy and a small gin was £11.20!

As far as the hotel room goes we have no criticism. We arrived to a spacious, clean and warm bedroom. The only issue was that there was one mug instead of two so we had to share a cup of tea. The bathroom was clean and we stocked with towels for us to use both in the evening and morning. Overall: the bedroom was perfectly fine for the price bracket the hotel was fixed to. However...Our issues began when we sat for our evening meal in the hotel restaurant. Service was initially fine with our drink orders taken and delivered a more than satisfactory manner. Our food order was taken and we settled ourselves into the evening. Suddenly, a wailing Welsh lady started to harass the bar staff over the condition of her hotel room. She exclaimed that her bed had been slept in and not remade and most shockingly a human turd had been left in her bathroom toilet. At this point I began to question the sanity of the person who deposits but consciously chooses to look into a full toilet bowl and walk away comforted that they’ve made the right decision. Anyway... 40 minutes passed and our starter of olives hadn’t been delivered. We were concerned at this point that we may never eat. Some couples concern turned to a reality and quickly departed the restaurant. My now slightly weary better half spoke to one of the waitresses and was surprised to hear that our order hadn’t actually been entered into the till. Another waiter hurried to our table to ask again what we had ordered. I asked for the starters to be skipped and for the mains to just be brought out when they’re ready. As our patience began to wear thin another staff member strolled in with a freshly bought kebab; what meat I do not know but if I had to guess I’d say a chicken donar. She stopped at our table to address our sunken faces. As much as we appreciated the sentiment behind her actions the kebab began to waft in our faces as her eagerness to consume her purchase meant that the sudden stop to offer some customer service created a pendulum swing of chicken, onions, mayonnaise and red cabbage. FINALLY THE FOOD! What we will say is that the quality of the food was very good. My chicken burger was very good. It was moist and tasted fresh. So when you finally get to eat we can say that the standard of the food is very yummy. The staff were fair when they realised the errors of the service and corrected their wrongs. We ordered a chocolate fudge cake pudding and a sticky toffee pudding and both were yummy and arrived in good time. We settled up and ended the evening by asking when breakfast was being served and we agreed to a time of 8:30-8:45am. Unfortunately, by Sunday morning we walked down and found that no staff was there, no breakfast was set up and no lights were turned on. We took it as a sign that breakfast wasn’t being served and decided to venture the cold Sunday morning and found a lovely cafe that opens at 9am. Overall: The owner left inexperienced staff members who were flustered and were trying their best but didn’t have the ability to execute their good intentions. We weren’t disappointed by the hotel room but the rest was unsatisfactory. I hope this was a one off.

Stayed overnight as we were visiting the spa in Long Eaton. Was very happy with the hotel. Room was large and clean, with a good sized bathroom and double bed. Staff were pleasant and bar area was nice with cocktails 2-4-£10. Didn’t eat but the food we saw brought out looked nice. Would visit again.

Sunday Lunch on 23rd February. The meat mash and parsnips came out first all were stone cold on a stone cold plate. One small veg bowl between 4 people Staff inexperienced and had to double check about every question and didn’t care when we complained.

Well where do I start . This was a disaster from start to finish . We get there and none of the rooms was ready and our rooms was given to someone else as we wNted to be by each other . We asked the young lady to sort it out which she tried to but seemed to be running the whole hotel as there was no one else there to help her which was not rite. We finaly got to our rooms and room 8 was ok but absoulutley freezing all day and nite no heating and room 3 was dirty and disgusting . No floors was cleaned the beds had been slept in and just remade not changed no tea cups or milk for a cup of tea. There was hair all in the drawers and room 6 the room was just as disgusting as room 3. ( same problems). We complained from 11 in the morning and was told I’m ringing the manager I’ll get u compensation and when we left and came back from a family gathering the young lady had gone and no luck in getting any help at all. The young kids r basically running the hotel they kept saying the rooms was cleaned . Like hell they was. They offered free drinks but that won’t cut it I’m afraid. They didn’t know how to make cocktails. We went to bed finaly in clean bedding after my husband cleaned the floor and when we checked out there was no one there to greet us it was deserted no staff just put your keys in a box . What a weird hotel and the manager didn’t even get back to theire staff as aparently they had rang her. We booked with booking .com and they took all our money instead of a deposit. What a sad stay and a waste of money but I will get our money back .

What can I say. I do not know where the bad reviews come from because myself and partner travel a lot and I am rather picky! But the food, service, entertainment and room was amazing. The staff all had such a family, fun and friendly vibe we felt like we had been there many times before. I would like to thank the owners Jo and Phil for making such an effort to make our night so special, and the chef for the best fillet steak we have had in a long time. I would recommend this place for food or an overnight stay anytime. Can’t wait to go back to try the tapas. Lindy and Jamie xx

The restaurant wasn’t busy so no atmosphere and it’s was quite cold . The food was ok, but the waitress didn’t ask if we would like a starter or any extras with our meal which we thought was strange.

My sister and I made seperate bookings for the 'hotel' on the same night. For my uncles funeral! After a long drive from london we arrived at 10.30. The website said check in was until 11.00. There was no one there. The doors were locked. Neither of the numbers we had were answered. We had to find somewhere else! No apology no compensation no explanation nothing. rubbish!

I really did not enjoy my experience. Food was awful and cold. Staff got my drink order wrong, and were rude. Will not be returning! Much nicer places for better value for money to go to!

Having been here many twice before for the Steak & Wine Deal - which was excellent, I booked a Sunday Lunch with Wine Deal and hey - what a disappointment! First we had booked for 1pm and were seated and given our drinks fairly quickly - then had to sit and watch other diners who arrived well after us get their meals and we waited for over 50 minutes for ours - which were not worth the long wait! The meat was very sparse and tasteless - the Yorkshire pud was more like a pancake and the gravy was just liquid! I changed my Roast Beef for Turkey as it was not only sparse but overdone and asked for Turkey instead - which was tasteless and when I asked for Cranberry Sauce, they didn't have any! Other diners also asked for sauces and didn't get any either! I hear there was new management - well good luck to them because we won't be going back again! The meal was for a special anniversary which was totally ruined - we could have made our own dinner in the time we had to wait for this well below par offering!

this is oneif the nicest place in long eaton if not the best, the staff made us feel very welcomed, we had a few drinks in the lounge area next to the fire, decied to have some food as we seen other guest eat and the food looked excellent and smells fantastic so we ended up dining here i was extremyl satified to with the food and service can not complain food, drinks, service and prices we very good value for money i visited with my friends from europe!! definately must visit

came to visit this place as we booked a room at this hotel, the rooms are brilliant, the staff are amazing, i read some of the negative reports but after visiting for my self i found the experience lovely, the place has had a few management changes from what the waitress told me, but the service and quality of food was surprisingly extremely ubove standards and im very very hard to please. personally i wouyld reccomend this place to anyone and dont just go by what you read dont be a sheep follow your own mind you wont be disapointed.

Would never go again. Cold food, some dishes never arrived. Very very slow service. They didn't even have any bread!!! Which is a pity as the place itself is nice,

I would honestly avoid this establishment at all costs. Since the new owners have taken over there is not one member of staff from the previous team and this is clearly a massive issue as the food and general offering is possibly one of the worst that i have ever known in all my years of eating out. How on earth can you justify charging the prices that you do for such cheaply bought produce (Iceland desserts and supermarket wine and four time the cost!!!. Clearly corners have been severely cut and we will not be returning ever again.

Paid £25 for the Prosecco Afternoon Tea, front of house was lovely and made us feel welcome, rubbish selection of sandwiches, dry bread, small scones and no cakes until asked, Front of house apologised and asked the chef to make us more sandwiches, came out much softer bread but filled with ham, cheese, chunks of tomato and seafood sauce..

Myself and a friend had a voucher for the Tapas and Gin deal, i can honestly say that there was a great choice for the food and the gins, the food was excellent, and the choice of gins were vast. The young gentleman who looked after us, was an absolute gem, couldn't do enough for us. Would definitely recommend a visit and we will definitely be returning.

Firstly, I am not one to speak badly upon a business, but this I feel is an exception as I am absolutely disgusted with the level of service and the management at this place.

My husband and I revisited Bennetts for the first time since the new owners have taking over,we both had tapas well it was the best tapas that we've had in a long time, staff were also very attentive and nothing was to much trouble definitely be returning soon .

First visit, only us in on a Saturday night!!! Sat at table 10 minutes without menus, some food not available, menu not known by waitress, water arrived late, mediocre meals. Menu is classed as 'fine dining'. Could cook better at home so very disappointed. Will not return.

We booked a table for 4 for 7pm on arrival we were seated by the owner who offered us drinks but then never came back to the table to order so had to go to the bar. I ordered a vodka and coke and told the waitress I didnt want diet so she offered me Pepsi max??

Just had a most memorable party for family and friends at Bennetts. Special mention to the new owners for their attentive service throughout and to chef for the tapas food,everyone commented on the quality(and quantity !) and the presentation.We are so glad that we chose this venue for our special celebration.

We came for a mother's day meal. Myself mum and my 3 daughters. We had great good. Staff were friendly. Table was set amazing and it was a quick service. Overall great atmosphere and great food. Would definitely recommend

I fancied trying the cocktails and they didnt disappoint Kyra served us efficiently and with great banter a real pleasure The environment was relaxed and we will definitely return

Couldn’t fault the place! Reviews can be damning but see for yourselves!! Cocktails amazing!! Tapas amazing!! And the new owners couldn’t accommodate my 87 year old mother more! General cleanliness could be better but will definitely be returning for the afternoon teas especially now they’re adding more to it.

We had a family Christmas dinner party here a group of 19, the FOOD, DRINKS & STAFF were absolutely excellent, I’m so confused with the bad reviews of what people have written! All I can say if visit and judge for your self, there are a few people that were drink to arrive for there food given the time of year but trust me you can not fault this place unless your trying to take advantage to get a free beer or discount!! I would 100% RECOMMEND!! Great atmosphere nice decor lovely environment the best long Eaton has to offer in my option!!

I rarely post critical comments on sites such as this, simply voting with my feet whenever I receive bad service. But I feel I must now make an exception, if only to try and warn others of a potentially nightmare experience.
