We visited the pub as we were looking for somewhere to have a relaxing anniversary lunch. We were not disappointed. Greeted by really friendly and welcoming staff, shown to our table immediately and served our drinks quickly. We asked for a couple of amendments to our chosen meals and this was completely agreeable to the delightful waitress who stated that it was important that our lunch was served how we wanted it. The car park is slightly small but is clearly marked with notifications about inputting your registration details. The drinks and food were both delicious. They are incredibly dog friendly and there is shade outside for those wishing to avoid the sun. Can highly recommend if you’re in the area. Thank you for making our anniversary a memorable experience. The views are amazing.

Dreadful food. So disappointed. I had dressed crab with salad and new potatoes. The crab was passable but the salad was a few leaves out of a bag made soggy with a very oily dressing. There were six small (like marbles) new potatoes which had been reheated so many times they were slimy inside. Almost inedible. For £18.50 I expected a decent salad and the new potatoes to at least be fresh. Beautiful spot but the food is an absolute rip-off. I don’t know how they get away with it!

We have never been disappointed with The Ramsholt. There’s lots of signs reminding people to put their number plate in to get free parking as well as staff reminding customers so not quite sure why some are struggling with this- also it’s not the pub that introduced the charging - it’s the Bawdsey Estate. Anyway, we have eaten here lots of times and the food has always been tasty and fresh- the crab salad and fish and chips are a favourite. We always have our 2 dogs with us and are made to feel so welcome by the very happy chap behind the bar who always makes a fuss of our dogs and brings them doggie biscuits. This really makes a difference to a visit when you are made welcome with 2 large dogs. The view is amazing and perfect for an evening drink. We will always return whenever we are in Suffolk. Thank you Ramsholt.

DON’T GET CAUGHT OUT WITH PARKING CHARGES IF YOU VISIT THIS PUB! Idyllic setting. Good beer and food. Whole experience soured by parking fine. We made a genuine mistake not to register the car. Appealed the fine. Sent the parking company a photo of us enjoying our food and drink with the location obvious - time stamped too. Also sent receipt that was clear proof. Appeal was rejected. At the time of order for those new to the location pointing out the car parking arrangements would be a minimum I would say. The pub’s brand is now associated with an aggressive parking regime. I get that the parking at the location has probably been abused but when you can clearly demonstrate money was spent at the pub, I would have hoped that reasonableness would prevail and all charges dropped.

Terrible food and overpriced. Fish and chips were a soggy bit of batter and some solid peas chucked on a plate. Rose served warm. Real shame as this could be a wonderful destination.

For a below par pub this menu was overpriced and limited .My Lasagne was a dried up triangle of a re heated dish which was barely edible and I could really have used a steak knife to dissect the sad plate put before..Only the wish to disrupt or embarrass stopped me from complaining and leaving.I was not settling the bill as this was my partners choice who was herself embarrassed by the dishes. Could have been a bad day or just chose the wrong dish but should never have left the kitchen and at £16 was awful value for money ..We will not return..

Our first visit since before Covid and so pleased we did! NB: Since our last visit, there is now a car park booking system inside the restaurant, where one is required to record the car registration number, allowing free 3 hours parking. Beware of going over this time as you will be fined heavily by the company responsible for the car park booking system. However, you do have the option of re-entering your registration number, if staying longer than 3 hours. We were warming greeted by a charming young man who showed us to our pre-booked table and took care of us beautifully throughout our lunch. We ordered a double G & T [7.90] and 2 halves of *Tolly Roger [4.80]. Although they didn't stock my partner's favourite draft Ghostship Lager, the young man recommended the Dolly Roger, which was an excellent alternative. We shared the most delicious Salt & Pepper Squid with a delicious Chilli dip and salad garnish [9.50]. We ordered 2 x 'open' Fish Pies from the blackboard [35.00]. Although my partner was totally happy with his choice, I personally felt there was far too much creamed potato in relation to the amount of fish. I had presumed the potato would be alongside the 'open pie', along with the peas. However, the 'open pie' arrived with an enormous portion of potato piled up on top of the fish, effectively negating an 'open' fish pie! I would have much preferred a classic fish pie with a small amount of nicely browned potato topping. It's saving grace was an utterly delicious chive and butter sauce. We finished with 2 delicious Affogatos [13.00] and 1 x Cappuccino [3.60]. Total bill was 73.80 + tip. We will certainly return again soon!

This has been my favourite pub since I played on its beach as a toddler. At 50 I still think it is the best location of any pub I’ve visited. This Easter Sunday, all branches of our family met here for a celebratory lunch. The lunch was great. We’d all come from different parts of the country and relished the chance to catch up in person. We were surprised to find the pub car pack had had parking meters installed. But nonetheless we singed our registrations in and thought no more of it. Can you imagine our shock, a few days later, when we received parking fines totalling £300 for taking longer than 3hours on a £270 meal! Spoke to the pub who were very apologetic. The parking meters were installed by their landlord Strutt & Parker and we needed to speak to them. To be fair Strutt & Parker did offer to ‘exceptionally’ write off the fines. But only after patronising lecture about correctly read the singage so that we remember to top up during a meal lasting longer than 3 hours. I really feel for the poor pub. It’s not their fault. But I wouldn’t risk the embarrassment of taking other people there again.

An old favourite from before the pandemic, we chose a family lunch here. Whist it was good to meet up again, the food was disappointing. The roast dinners were provided with too many vegetables, all of which were so hard that none of us could eat them. Carrots, leeks, peas, shredded cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower in a cheese? sauce. We would have preferred fewer, cooked properly. Yorkshire puddings were also hard, overcooked and the roast potatoes were not nice. The desserts were OK, but the lemon tarts had, yes 'soggy bottoms'! We agreed that it was good to see each other but the meal was very disappointing. The staff were welcoming and efficient. Remember to add your car registration to the iPad as you enter to avoid parking fines.

The food here was great if a little over priced. The problem is the parking. The car park is operated by a third party and you can get 3 hours parking by entering your registration on a device at the pub. I don't know how this device works but when I got a £60 fine because I hadn't paid for my parking there I was more than a little surprised. I appealed against the fine but the parking company said that I couldn't provide sufficient proof that I'd been in the pub they were upholding the fine. I hadn't asked for a receipt and paid with cash. When I questioned the Ramsholt Arms I was literally told that "there was nothing they could do about the situation as the car park did not belong to them". By all means try the food here but cycle or maybe ride to the pub and GET A RECEIPT

Went for a lunch yesterday. Lovely location of course but as it was pretty breezy we went inside. It all looks a bit rundown like it needs a bit of money spent on it. I like my ales so seeing 2 Soham beers I asked for a taster of the light ale - it was very, very off. Like taking a mouthful of Sarsons vinegar. I told the bar manager and he seemed unbothered by this. So I ordered a pint of the other bitter. It appeared to be OK. However, I was still trying to get the vinegar taste out of my mouth and after a little while I realised that the second bitter was on the turn as well. I just left it. Really poor beer-keeping tbh. Menu was very limited, mostly fried, mostly frozen at a guess. My wife's prawns in marie rose sauce was spicy for some reason. My fish and chips was OK but the chips tasted greasy. Small things like the fact that the pepper dispenser was stained and grubby didn't help. I really wanted to love this place but it's a definite no from us. We won't be returning.

We’ve been going to the Ramsholt Arms for years and always love the gorgeous views over the Deben, there’s no place so beautiful on a warm summer evening. Tonight was a rainy cold Wednesday and we sat in the cozy bar watching the sky turn pink over the boats as the sun set, eating mussels, sea bass and fish and chips — all really delicious and well above average for pub food. The service was warm and friendly, and the bill with pints came to about £20 per person. If there’s a nicer way to spend the evening in this part of Suffolk I haven’t yet found it.

Very disappointing visit to The Ramsholt Arms. Our fault for not checking times of food service but as it’s holiday season we wrongly assumed they would serve food all day. Frosty reception for the person at the bar to our enquiry about food so we ordered a drink but they continued to order staff around with table reorganisation for their 5 pm service whilst we were stood there making us feel extremely awkward. We sat outside to admire the view and left within 15 mins. We won’t be returning based on our experience .

We stopped off while sailing from waldringfield. Wanted to go to the ramsholt arms because last time the food was great, and it makes a change from the maybush just up the river. Service was quick and nice, but the food was mediocre; fries were cold, sea bass looked and tasted like it was from frozen, and new potatoes weren't great, burger was small, and bread was missing from 1 dish (although I'm sure they would have brought if we'd said) From past experience and the money charged I would expect more. I might try again next summer if we're passing, but I certainly won't make a special trip there. It's a shame, because such a good job had been done of it before. But nice service and great view!

The view from the pub is stunningly beautiful, and worth a visit just for that. There are plenty of signs advising you to register your vehicle at one of the screens near the bar. The staff were very welcoming and we were given a table without issue and we’d not booked. The place was clean and seating was comfortable. There were more than enough options on the menu to accommodate most eaters and it was reasonably priced at £20 a person for a main and drink. However, the food wasn’t very hot but the batter on the fish was scrumptious. The chips though were not good and none of us ate more than 2 or 3 so a huge letdown!

We were seated by the window with a gorgeous view of the river. Our server came to take our order quickly and our food came shortly after that. My husband had fish and chips (which he enjoyed very much) and I had the lasagne (which was rather greasy, but very flavourful). All staff were friendly and efficient. We have been going to this pub for years but they have bought in a parking company to monitor the car park. They have just sent the whole party, £100 fines. Apparently because we were there over three hours. We were not told of this restriction by the member of staff that asked for our registration numbers or by the waiting staff.

Your locationRamsholt ArmsDock Rd, Woodbridge IP12 3ABPubIt was closed. On a Friday. At lunchtime. In July. Without warning. Having driven over 40 miles to get there and then more than 40 miles again to go home. Not many valid reasons for going back - but how about offering those disappointed and turned away a free lunch?

Tasted awful, ate it because I was hungry. Burger was adequate. Everything should be nicer for the price. Don't go cheaper, just raise the standards.

Person greeting us to be seated very dismissive and unhelpful. Also have to pay to park. Very disappointed - went to Sorrel Horse instead which was lovely.

After a long day at work it was nice to go back here and enjoy a lovely meal with the family. As normal, the service was polite and welcoming. We were served very promptly and gluten free food clearly pointed out where necessary.Food was very tasty and presented nicely, plus there was plenty of it!!Fabulous treat for me to enjoy thoroughly.WELL DONE.

Went for lunch today as it was our anniversary. Only wish we’d read the reviews first. The burger was awful, it tasted very cheap and boiled. I think you could get better at a fairground. My husband’s ham was just about OK. Every thing had grill marks to make it look good I assume!Such a pity as the girls were all lovely and the setting is just beautiful. They have a guaranteed custom only to be spoilt by cheap tasting food which wasn’t cheap. The welcome is now marred by parking charges and signs everywhere, although you don’t have to pay if you go to the pub.Next time we’ll take a picnic and pay the parking.

What a beautiful spot! We walked here along the coast from the nearby Wild Riverside Camping, and the view and setting are absolutely gorgeous. The restaurant seems to be known for the seafood (understandably, given the location), and we'd seen a couple of vegetarian options on the sample menu on the website, but unfortunately there was only one option for the night we were there. The option was red pepper and sun-dried tomato pasta, which arrived in under 5 minutes after we had ordered, and had clearly been either kept warm for a while, or pre-cooked and re-heated. The pasta itself was well overcooked and was falling apart, so was rather disappointing for the £13 per dish it cost, plus the sauce was pretty standard. That said, the guest beer on offer was lovely, and the staff were attentive and welcoming, so I would say we would go again, but not for food.

Just returned from Ramsholt Arms - 6 of us for lunch - early Fathers Day celebration.I have been before and it was good. We decided on Ramsholt as I wanted to show the rest of the family how good it was - we are fans of another pub on the Deben river but I felt Ramsholt had been good on April 19 2021 when I went for first time with friend).Sad to say that although 2 of us had fish & chips and it was as good as I remember but at £15.00 each it should be, 3 had a cheese burger and what a complete waste of money they were. 2 patties, thin, looks like frozen box burgers on a THICK brioche roll - the top part of the roll was so thick it made the thin patties look even thinner. Dry, unappetising to look at and just as unappetising to eat. At the price the burgers were you would think they should be "homemade patties". Also, the website needs to be updated with the increases in price so that people are aware that it is not cheap to have lunch here - if my memory serves me correctly the prices have increased since 19/4/2021. Service was good, view amazing - just sad that the burgers are not worth £8.00 each let alone close to £15.00 each. Social distancing is good, track and trace good.

Great location and happy helpful staff Food is good pub grub, but it’s all about location! The evening setting sun 🌞 is to die for as the pub is set on the river Deben at Ramsholt !

The staff are very polite, friendly and efficient The only thing I have to complain about, is that the plates were ‘freezing ‘ cold, such a shame as it costs nothing to warm plates. That is why I marked the food down a star as the peas were then too cold to eatBut, we will be back, it is our favourite place

We love coming here...the views are amazing and the food is always tasty and well presented. We signed in and used hand sanitizer by the gate. We sat outside and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They wore their masks outside, which was reassuring, as they had to go in and out all the time. I can think of no better recommendation than spotting a very famous female chef at the next table.....she clearly enjoys it here too!

Prices seemed a bit steep for a fairly basic looking pub so we shared a curry but it was absolutely delicious and we were very happy to enjoy the warmth of the wood burning stove and delicious coffee afterwards. Beautiful views but a slightly echoey room. I’m sure we’ll come again

I visited with my wife for Sunday lunch. The pub is in a great location, tucked out of the way right on the river with a large terrace offering lovely views. From start to finish I must say the service from all the staff was absolutely excellent. They seemed on top of everything and enthusiastic and happy to help.Unfortunately the food did not match the service. I ordered roast beef. I like my beef done medium but was told it was only pink or well done. It came to the table very quickly but was not at all enjoyable. It’s a shame but it spoiled the occasion.

Disappointing lunch! Advised by phone and on the website that I could not reserve, that it was first come first served. We arrived early only to find reserved markers on several tables. But what was even more distressing was that no one requested information for track and trace!

Amazing views of the peaceful river and boats. Outside tables were set at safe distances, our names were listed and we felt confidant the very pleasant staff took the correct precautions. The current menu is limited to fairly basic pub staples (sausages, fish and chips, gammon steak- no steaks etc), but it was well cooked and pleasantly presented: quite expensive for what it was. The batter of the fish and chips was light and crispy and the chips excellent. We would definitely return and I recommend it to others.

Beautiful location, we stopped for a pint and a bite after a lovely hike in the countryside. Very COVID aware and you feel safe. Menu is interesting, if a little pricey. Food very good, service excellent and staff very friendly and welcoming.

After taking a 3 mile walk with the dog we enjoyed a good fish and chip late afternoon meal. They serve good quality pub grub and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Good COVID protocol was observed with only 6 people allowed on a table with sanitizer available as you enter with someone to take names as you enter. The only reason for 4 stars is The men’s toilet could have more regular checks to have paper towel bin emptied more regular to save them going all over the floor, can’t speak for the ladies.

Visited Monday and was really happy with our visit. The food was great, it was nice to see something different, there was a lot of effort put into the menu and lots of options. We ordered two soft drinks, the Mexican flatbread and fishfinger wrap, both of which were excellent and very fresh: I wouldn't be surprised if the tartare sauce was made from scratch. We sat outside with our dog and the views were lovely, toilets were clean and staff polite, I couldn't fault anything really. Will return when next in the area.

I’ve read some of the reviews and it seems that expectations have a lot to do with the comments. I know what to expect and I like it. If you want slick – don’t go. If you want real - then go. If you want a place where people go because they know each other – then go. I’ve had some good conversations about local events and places with the lady and gentleman who run it. Food and drink are fine – it might not suit everyone to see your breakfast cooked in view. Suits me fine.
