I booked the spa deal for 1 night through the website. Upon clicking this deal it takes you to your room booking. I booked this expecting the specific deal I had chosen. When I arrived to check in I was told that I had booked room only! So everything else (dinner, treatment, breakfast) was now at an additional cost! The link in the website clearly needs updated as this is very misleading as to what is actually getting booked. Our room was lovely none the less and we had the most amazing view of the falls of Clyde. What I did not expect was to find the previous guests swimming costume still hanging on the towel rail in the bathroom. At £139 for room only I do expect a better standard of cleaning from one guest to the next! We booked for dinner and the meal was lovely. We came down for breakfast which I had already checked out again on the website. This showed an all Inclusive breakfast priced at £9.95 each. When my bill arrived I was charged £15 each! When I queried this I was told that's an old menu. I really feel that the website needs a total upgrade to making sure links take you to the correct page and prices are up to date! It's all very misleading. I would absolutely stay again but would never use the website to book through. I would call and check exactly what everything costs and what's included so its not a surprise and then extra costs for everything. The staff are lovely but trying to get through to the Spa on the extension from your room is not great. No one answers the phone and no one is at the reception! Overall we had a lovely stay and the views and walks are just amazing!

Beautiful hotel beautiful scenery quiet and relaxing. Booked for breakfast which was just awful. I had a full breakfast which included 10 beens, 2 button mushrooms the thinnest slice of haggis and black pudding I have ever seen bacon like a bit of leather overcooked fried egg , sausage. My wife had eggs benidict over cooked eggs and bacon the size of a ten pence piece. Just awful. Such a shame because this is beautiful place. I also complained at the reception but they were not interested. I will go back but will not be eating breakfast in the hotel ever again L

terrible terrible terrible.....total rip off and substandard food...no choice, sandwiches hand made wrapped in cling film and thrown in a pile, avoid of you have allergies as no listing of what's in them. Scones just felt apart into crumbs the minute you cut into them. No prices shown.....that's because they are extortionate!!! I had choc fudge slice was dry as bone and like proper fudge on inside just awful. Dirty , needs a good clean and presentation of what they did have needs attention. Far too costly for a family meal or snacks. Toilets stunk of poo but we were first in and later on when using this bad smell still there so drains a problem. Avoid at all costs (pardon the pun)

Met up with family members here, waited 30 minutes for a couple toasties and soup, other tables that arrived after us were served first and when the food finally arrived it was very disappointing, £5+ for a tiny toastie with a single slice of cheese inside, chips dripping with oil, soup wasn't the type of soup that we were told, ordered a BLT on brown bread with mayo, was brought white bread with no mayo. Very overpriced for what we got. Wouldn't come back.

My husband ordered jacket potato and coronation chicken which he said was very nice but he had eaten it by the time my meal arrived which I sent back to get reheated. Prices a bit high for quality of food.

Surely to goodness we can dish up something better than this pathetic effort to greet the tourists in our “World Heritage Site”. With two hungry toddlers, we had no option but to eat in this service forsaken establishment. Exorbitant pricing for the meagre selection on offer. It was only 1:30 pm and we were advised that the kitchen had no bread with which to make the kids a plain sandwich. No hot food on offer. The soup pot was empty but they did manage to rustle up some disgusting “packet soup” that was loosely described as “Pea & Ham”…….it was served with a scone & runny butter. The two “Senior Kitchen Staff” appeared to be in crisis talks while their bewildered young serving staff were left to face our International guests, most of whom did an about turn and left the facility and most likely cut short their experience of one of Scotland’s “prime tourist attractions”. This surely cannot be a commercially viable business who fronts up this abomination? It reeks of a Council run effort……. The Lanarkshire Council Directors will no doubt be enjoying their vacations on The Riviera, meanwhile on The River Clyde, we Scots are being served a Big Riddy!

Wonderful day spent at New Lanark Mills, however badly tarnished by the appalling food offer, rip off prices and haphazard service in this so called cafe. Reading the other reviews it is clear the operator of this business (council? ) has any interest in providing a quality experience. As a Scot, I was embarrassed to see a group of overseas visitors so unimpressed they walked out! The management of the Trust need to get a grip of this situation, either improve or terminate the franchise. To continue to do nothing is simply undermining the overall visitor experience and worse by tarnishing the good reputation of Scottish food and service.

We visited your cafe on 13th July at 2pm. We had friends from Canada with us and were totally embarrassed when we ordered pizza, to be told there was no pizza left, while we watched one of your chef's cut up 2 pizza's in front of us, for another customer. We then ordered "soup of the day" to be told there was none left !!!!! My sister ordered a panini and we waited at least 15mins before she had to go up and ask if it was ready, when this was brought to the table it was literally thrown down on the table, yet another embarrassing moment. Meanwhile there was another customer who ordered paninis after her and was as handed 2 paninis. What on earth was your chef's doing that day, NOTHING by the look of things. This was not acceptable customer service and we will not be recommending anyone to visit your cafe. !!!!!

Tried to get a table in the cafe but it was full so decided on a takeaway. Our order was taken quite quickly but we then had to wait half an hour on our sandwiches being made up. My daughter had to ask several times when they were going to be ready. By the time they were my tea was cold so I was given a further cup free of charge. The sandwiches were overpriced with only two small slices of bread, egg mayo filling, a few crisps and lettuce but no coleslaw as was on the menu. As another reviewer said, this place is a shambles. Hey there, had a lovely visit around the facilities on Thursday 29th April 2021 followed by a delicious meal in the mill cafe. We into the mill cafe for a heat up with the delicious food here. Right from the start the female front of house supervisor had a face like thunder, arrogant and not very welcoming. We looked by this at first as we were wanting to get something to heat us up and we were starving. We were all going to opt for the soup until we saw the same said supervisor standing behind the kitchen counter messing about with the soup with her over the top fake nails. I have worked in enough hospitality venues to know your not allowed anything like that for food hygiene! No thank you, will not be having that! Why she was even behind there beggars belief as there was two perfectly good chefs in the kitchen and only 1 other front of house working his ass off while this said supervisor didn’t live up to expectations of leading and showing staff by example. The young man was doing everything by himself! To give credit though where credit is due, the pizza we ordered was cooked to perfection and delicious, definitely warmed us up and I would come back for that alone anytime!Would also like to thank the very welcoming young man who seemed to be doing all the work front of house and the cafe chefs for a lovely meal.New Lanark, sort your supervisor out. Apart from this lady, the experience was a really good one. If this lady doesn’t want to work here, she should leave. She is spoiling a perfectly good setup!Signing off...

First of all, the blackboard sign stating if you want to takeaway or sit in should be at the very front of the shop, we lined up for a while to discover that table service was in a different section. Once we did finally sit down, our table was sticky (obviously not sanitised) and nobody came to take our order. 3 other tables in our section (next to the ice cream stall) also were not served. Despite staff walking past, we were still ignored countless time. Perhaps more staff is needed. To top it off, we left without ordering and within 5 minutes our table was taken and not cleaned. Nobody bothered to collect the track and trace information sheets either. Really bad impression and for that I don't think we'll be returning. It's a shame as the menu on offer looked quite good.

We went at 9.30am and the cafe was still setting up. We asked for the pancakes with maple syrup and bacon and where informed there weren't any. However, on request they did make bacon on toast and a scrambled egg on toast. We were served toast with rubbery scrambled egg; and toast with one dry rasher of bacon. Not sure why the quality of the cooked items where so poor as the cakes and scones from the food on display were fine. My son, who ate the bacon was sick later on in the day, and couldn't help wondering whether it was the bacon. Pity as the rest of the visit to New Lanark was top rate.

Despite advertising that they do breakfast, I was turned away at 9:30 when I went to get some breakfast here. As they open at 9, I thought this was a bit unreasonable really. I was ignored by staff for about 10 minutes before some sighed and asked what I wanted. When I asked if there were any gluten free options for breakfast (as none were mentioned on the board) i was told they could maybe do some toast. I asked if I could have egg on toast or something and she said no. They have no eggs apparently. I asked if there was anything else I could have on the toast and she said no. So, plain dry toast for £3? No thanks. I would have just gotten a coffee but it was just from a self service rubbishy machine into non-recyclable paper cups, again costing about £3. The staff had all disappeared by this point so I just left and went to Costa on the high street. No wonder there were no customers in there! Maybe if they'd had any food or decent staff it would have been nice, but that wasn't the case.

I used to love coming here, visited today and i can honestly say i doubt i will be back! Ordered a ham salad! And thats exactly what i got! 2 slices of packet ham and a handful of packet salad! And attempted to charge me £6.50 for this!!! Baring in mind the menu said there was other things to come with this salad, so after telling them i wasnt paying £6.50 for that, and to just take it back, the manager came over, offered me a scone with it etc! To come back with a bread roll for soup! She did however apoligise for what was sent and we were told there was no cous cous left, which we werent told when we were ordering and considering the place was dead and it was 1pm i dont think they would have just run out that day. Dont know if i was supposed to make a mini bagette with it or what! Onions! And crisps! So glad i ordered soup aswell which was infact great.! Its so overpriced tho for basic food! £27.00 today for 2 soups, a ham half salad! And a panini... and to be honest i have had better pub grub for half the price. Moving on the manager did her best, the girl that was on the till was very nice and she really did go out her way to be nice to us knowing we were super annoyed by now!. Only because a very childish worker, stood with another worker from another area of the place talking about us staring at us and very clearly complaining about us complaining about the food. Which was very pathetic and childish, and not to mention very uncomfortable. The lady who served us was 100, miles an hour, hadnt a clue what she was trying to say to us, just very overall rude, and a complete joke if i am honest. Will probably never return here due to the complete lack of customer service and the fact its like paying restraunt prices for standard snacks.

The cafe is conveniently located, and much as you'd expect, unimaginative decor. We were there for a light lunch and drink after completing the walk. But when I looked in the "Grab N' Go" section I could only see one sandwich! And the filling didn't appeal. There were several high-cal cakes (not for me) and I could have had a panini at £6. But all I wanted was a sandwich and a drink, so I was disappointed. My brother had the lentil soup and he said it was nice (it looked good) but on a hot day soup didn't appeal either. I had a standard bag of crisps at 95 p and a lemonade - £2 for 500 ml, so not exactly inspiringly good value. I wouldn't rush back

We regularly visit the Mill Pantry of a weekend. My husband and myself love the homemade soup, it’s delicious. Recently the kiddies lunch goodie bags have went down hill, the usual “made up sandwiches” have been replaced with a “hard soup roll” which isn’t practical for my little one, it’s just too tough. Prices can be a little steep. We do enjoy our lunch here but a little rethink on the kids lunches wouldn’t go a miss.

We really enjoyed the heritage sight but the cafe really let's it down. We will return but might bring a packed lunch the next time!!!

we were at the mill shop for wool and popped in to the cafe here (which you walk through to get to the shop) and were pleased with the variety and quality of the tasty treats on offer. We had scones jam and butter and wished we had not just had lunch shortly before as several customers seemed to be enjoying substantial plates of food. Maybe next time we are in the area we will choose to eat here - there is free parking and you do not have to purchase tickets for the heritage centre to enjoy the facilities here.

Went on the spur of the moment to New Lanark with a friend. Haven't been in a long time. Had lunch and it was very good. The restaurant was very busy with overseas students but the staff coped well.

After visiting New Lanark and the Falls of Clyde after many years absence we decided to have coffee and bacon rolls. Shouldn't have bothered! Fatty bacon on a dry (stale even) roll - no butter or margarine. At £2.75 per roll it was about £2.50 overpriced. Not an experience we will repeat and something that makes tourists feel ripped off and is a real shame as New Lanark has otherwise improved over the years.

One hot meal only but quite good. Other lighter snacks which looked delicious. Local ice cream - many flavour - was superb. Staff friendly and helpful.

Two of us had been given an afternoon tea voucher and what a surprise we got when we used it. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The table was well laid out and the three tier afternoon cake stand boasted a range of freshly made sandwiches, scones with strawberry jam and cream, and an array of cakes. Staff kept asking us if everything was ok for us. We could not finish all the cakes and we're given a box to take our Un eaten cakes home. What an excellent experience and to think it is literally on our door step.

Located in the mill building, this eating place is well placed for a refreshing stop after visiting the heritage site. ( this part of the building has no entry charge)

The space, on a lower floor of one of the old mills, is nice - light and airy with well spaced tables. Unfortunately I don't think I have enough staff, or the staff aren't organised enough because queueing and clean up both seem unusually slow. The food is okay, basic canteen/cafe type stuff and reasonable quality. The overpriced ice cream, which is massively hyped by banners everywhere advertising its award - though note that the award was only for the vanilla - is only available in a very limited, uninteresting, uninspiring and clichéd range of flavours. We tried three and were very unimpressed. Definitely room for improvement.

I came here with my daughter on a friday afternoon. Lots of staff but no one seemed to be doing anything. There was 1 man taking orders for food and serving drinks which meant it took a while - then there was no one at the pay station for quite sometime.

We had soup and a sandwich and some drinks. Good service and tasty food. Some items were a bit pricey for what you got.

The meals are fairly expensive, but I loved most of the foods I ordered over the week. I found the restaurant is equally busy on every single day of a week which certainly gives some indication about its food quality and elegance.

Really enjoyed a cuppa and home bake after a tour of the heritage mill buildings . I had wanted to have a scotch pie and beans as a snack but they had none left

This self-service cafe is run by local people using local food. It's friendly, reasonably priced and caters from salads to hearty meals for kids and adults. The scone with the soup had a real homemade taste - the soup was good too. If you're visiting the Mill then this is a good choice to eat at. It did have a bit of a canteen feel to it but maybe that's authentic.

So 1st and last time visitor ! Was recommended to me so made a trip for lunch. Ordered soup which both came luke warm so requested that they be warmed up to eating temperature. Take 2 on return one was slightly warmer the other still luke warm. As am not one for take 3 spoke with staff to ask if I could pay as decided to go elsewhere, no charge (not eaten) but the soup "apparently" take a while to heat !! Offered to heat "again" but thought after 2 attempts, not. It should be good to go from the off otherwise why serve cool soup. A less than satisfactory experience and to be honest not a great ambiance, my wife thought seating was uncomfortable. Sorry but that's how we found the place 😐

Second visit here & was another amazing meal. We had the fish & chips, ‘boring’ burger & chips, maple & garlic siracha chicken gyros & southern poutine loaded fries. Everything was cooked well, tasted amazing, well presented & we didn’t wait long for food to arrive. Service was excellent, waitresses are lovely. Didn’t have any alcohol this time but cocktail menu looks amazing! Restaurant is really well decorated with lots of unique features & there was a great, buzzing atmosphere. Forgot to get photos of the food, was too excited to eat it!
