The Kittoch -Hungry Horse in South Lanarkshire

Used to come here often, but came in tonight and the service was disgraceful, food was awful, they sat me and my partner across from a table that had food all over it and under it plates all over it, food took ages to come out. Won’t be back

Great food great service and nice relaxed atmosphere

Tried to get food at 8.10pm to be told kitchen is closed. Advertised time for kitchen to close is 9pm. This is disappointing.

Been a while but was pleasantly surprised by the new management. Great deals on food . Will be back soon . Clean and welcoming now .

This was a much improved visit than previously, the staff were brilliant both welcoming and professional. We came in for breakfast and the food was excellent. So much choice and so nice to have such a wide variety of food. Will definitely be coming back, well done Kittoch really great experience.

Served by Ann who was really accommodating towards my food order. Have been served by her a few times and she is always super friendly and cheerful. Our food arrived promptly and was a good portion size.

Came to take advantage of the Monday Steak deal, food was good, restaurant was quite busy for a weekday. Katie was outstanding and made sure we had everything we needed. A good evening, will return!

For starters, the meal took about 40 minutes for the meals to turn up at the table. one was luke warm, the other the chicken was full of fat rather than chicken at one end of the baguette, we're offered another meal for the cool meal or money back ordered another / different meal. It came super fast , and some of that was disgusting gristle inside the chicken strip (boak). I feel a refund should have been given as the full thing wasn't good. I won't be back to the Kittoch **avoid** I have also tried to email to the reply from the company and my email pailed to send because the email address isn't correct

Food was cold and replaced by manager next meal was extremely greasy real poor quality, drinks were almost flat real disappointed have emailed greene king awaiting a response from them will not be returning waste of hard earned cash. Told they were short staffed no excuse for cold food.

The chicken we had was off all the family had food poisoning that includes my nieces who are 4 and 1. When we spoke to staff they were not interested

Came in on Saturday night for some dinner and drinks, really nice meal and attentive staff, was very busy but the meal came out quick! Will be returning

Visited on 7/2/24.early evening .ordered soup and a couple of main courses. Our soup arrived after 30 minutes, to say the soup was on the small side would be an understatement. I asked the server why we had what looked like a bowl split between us , she told us they were portioned.Which puzzled me as one was smaller than the other , 1/3 of a bowl for the price of a full bowl. I know pubs are struggling but but this us just taking the p---s. The main courses were mot much better. Worst pub grub I have had in a long time. Will not be back..

Bar staff can never do enough for you. The pub is friendly and has a good feel about it. The food is really good value for money and is always hot when received. The place could do with a paint but apart from that it’s a great wee pub!

In this evening for dinner, quiet but the girls working were very attentive and chatty. Had a Mix It Up, good value for money, and it was on a discounted deal! Food was good, only downside is the restaurant area is rather cold. Will be back!

Love it here, the burgers are fantastic - well seasoned and not dried out at all! Chips are always crispy and well seasoned. Best of all on a Friday its buy one burger get one free!!! Staff are very friendly and professional. We got an American style burger with a hot dog on top, would have loved dessert but we were too stuffed to manage one lol Has sn outdoor play area along with seating. The car park is large and no problem to find space. Highly reccomend!

The only reason 3stars for atmosphere it was just before 12 so was starting to fill up as we left.The two classics for £11.99 were delicious, fish and chips with mushy peas and Steak and ale pie with chips and garden peas ,the lad who served us was very apologetic about no Mexican pasta left but the fish n chips was a good back up...changed the atmosphere to 5 stars ,popped in at five at night for quick meal and drink b4 heading back home,although every table booked,they fitted us in and fed us delicious food..spot on...

Nice family place except when showing football can be very noisy especially if you have kids with you

Six of us attended the Kittoch hogmanay party. The staff were so accommodating. All tables had party props and the place was tastefully decorated. Ann put on a lovely buffet with a large selection of hot and cold food along with a dessert selection, this was replenished throughout the evening. The live band was amazing as was the piper. Well done team Kittoch you were all fantastic 👏

Second time trying this place. First time was about a year ago after trying a Hungry Horse in Rotherham. Two totally different experiences. Hungry Horse in Rotherham, the food was hot and rather good. Tried the one in East Kilbride, food was bland, but we all know, some places have an off day. Tried it again today 28/12/23 at 15.30 after a hospital visit with my wife.Girl behind the counter was very pleasant. Girl who brought the meals, very pleasant. Wife's meal was the sizzling steak dish. No sizzling from plate. Anywhere else she has a sizzling dish it comes out sizzling. I ordered the mixed grill. No gammon but agreed to give me extra sausages. Happy with that. Two pieces of chicken on mixed grill stone cold and pathetic onion ring. Cold and under cooked. Told the waitress about chicken and she said she would bring me two new pieces of chicken. By the time it arrived I had decided I didn't want any more chicken. The waitress did offer free coffees and puddings. My wife accepted a sticky toffee which she said was very good. Second time trying it, Second time disappointed. Will be sticking with my local restaurants in Hamilton and Blantyre from now on.

Very slow service took over an hour between servings. Due to this the kids got frustrated,tired and couldn't eat their main meal or dessert. Dishes lay on table before next serving came. My steak was extremely tough, 3 prawns on top and very little else apart from cold chips and bland coleslaw on the side. All meat and pasta looked and tasted overheated by Mr ping, the microwave. It may sound good value for money but what you get is what you pay for.

Come every week with a group of mums and our babies the staff are so warm and welcoming. Very accommodating and food is always very fresh and warm.

I went in early Sunday morning to see if they were showing the final couple hours of the DP World Golf Championship and the young waitress/barmaid couldn't have been more helpful in putting on the golf channel and then serving me breakfast. The food is decent, good value for money, pub grub and the atmosphere welcoming with a nice buzz, but it was the great customer service that really impressed, hence the 5 stars 👍

Came for meal Sunday 19th. Wee bit of a wait but was made up for by courteous friendly service and tasty food. Shout out to the manager Billy who made sure we enjoyed our meal. Definitely recommend a trip to The Kittock.

Was last here a couple of months ago. Felt more homely & welcoming. I was pretty hungry & had the gammon mix up with sweet chilli sauce. Wow. Hit the spot 👍

What a horrible experience tonight with 4 adults, a 2 year old and 1 year old. Starter chosen and main meal chosen both not available. Waited 40mins on a starter then 50mins on our mains - to make us even angrier the mains were all served seperately waiting over 5mins between each meaning by the time everything had arrived the first 2 mains were stone cold and disgusting. When we asked for our son's dessert we were rudely questioned about why we hadn't ordered one (it is included in the kids meal) and then waited 25mins for a tiny bowl of strawberries on a soggy waffle. No apology from any staff member for the wait and the manager's attitude was shockingly unhelpful when the problems were brought to her attention.

The member of staff, young guy, utterly hopeless, at the door said it was fully booked, no walk ins. We got a drink at 17.30 and then booked in for food at 6pm. Go figure. Food was absolutely awful. Dreadful. Live 500 yards away, I'll never be back. ****

Kids food fine Adult fish terrible dry and tasteless

Ordered curry with bhajis which came and were still batter in the middle, curry was a very small portion and the remainder of what I should have had was replaced with chips. Sharing platter used to be amazing, sadly seems like it's gone very downhill and was nothing special. Service was fantastic, staff friendly and vibrant!

The place has really gone down hill.All the good staff have left,the minimal staff are on.You are waiting a long time for a drink,one person behind the bar and one other for food.I don't enjoy it anymore.I miss Erin,Marc,Shannon and Jamie.Thank God we have Rebecca.

The Kittoch is a very welcoming place. We meet every Monday as a group of mums on a buggy walk. The staff welcome us with big smiles every week and set an area aside for us and and our prams. They always go over and above. Plus, the coffee is fabulous! Highly recommend a visit. It's very family friendly x

Just had my child’s birthday party here by booking a section of tables and ordering the platters for all to eat. Staff were extremely helpful and super quick service all thorough out the day. Food was delicious and so reasonably priced. Thanks again 😊

Would thoroughly recommend the kittoch, we had our daughters first birthday party here and it was brilliant. The bar staff were all excellent and a big shout out to the manager Ann for even helping us out with the set up! Food and drink was delicious will definitely be back soon.

Food is good. Strange, though, the space was closing at 8pm due to staffing issues...what does that tell us?

Wrap with guijons dry salad no dressing dry chicken no mayonnaise, I hadn't been in there for about 10yrs and I won't be back anytime soon we also waited about 25mins for meal when the place was empty.

Starter of garlic mushrooms for the price was terrible..4 small mushrooms on a slice of bread wouldn't feed a child. Cost over £5 would expect more mushrooms. Length of waiting time for main course too long. .

First time visiting the place, the staff were really lovely and accommodating BUT i hate to be that person my food was absolutely disgusting. Award winning steak pie my backside. The pastry was over cooked and brick hard to try and cut into it, it was swimming in horrible tasting gravy with very little small fatty chunks of meat inside, it wasn't even fit enough to feed to my dog. The only good thing about the food is I tried some of the food that the person I was with had and it was actually nice so if I ever go back I'll be having what they had.

Our usual Sunday dinner restaurant was fully booked tonight so we decided to try here instead, much to our disappointment. Unfortunately on arrival the general feel of cleanliness wasn’t great, the waiter that showed us to our table which was still wet from being cleaned and there was wet napkins on the seat. Unfortunately we discovered the roast beef was sold out, but we decided to try something else off the menu. We ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and the katsu banquet. The chicken on the sandwich was at best a remicrowaved frozen chicken and the ciabatta it was on was soggy. The onion rings were so pale and undercooked they blended in with the chips and covered in grease. The katsu chicken was just like frozen chicken dippers with some sliced chillis on top, doesn’t really constitute salt and chilli chicken. The curry sauce was thick and lumpy. The rice was microwaved, cold in some spots and roasting in others. Didn’t feel comfortable to complain as it seemed staff were aware of the poor standards as our table was avoided when they could see we weren’t eating the meals. Should probably get rid of chef Mic.. think his days are over!

We all had fish and chips which was lovely, fish was cooked perfectly and everything was hot. Service from Mark, Danny and Anna was excellent.

Very noisy on entering. Directed to a booth our family meal. Exactly what was required. Friendly professional staff took our orders. Drinks all correct Starters served first. All correct. Then our main courses. All correct. Overall a good visit although being busy was quite noisy.

Visited with husband . We are both regulars at the Kittoch. The reason for us being regulars is value for money, cheerful and welcoming staff and a nice atmosphere. Some of the staff we have got know quite well. In particular Shannon, Rebecca, Mark and Erin. They and colleagues make the place what it is.

We are Kittoch regulars, and on purpose too! Good value for money, polite, cheerful and helpful staff who always have a wee chat while attending to the order. Most often served by Rebecca, Mark and Erin (apologies to those whose names I don't know) who are great. And when they say "The usual?" 99% of times they get it right. If they get it wrong it's because I'm winding them up. I also watch a lot of football there and the customers are well looked after by the staff. Always a good atmosphere. The food is "pub grub" and whenever we have dined, it has been fine. However, The Kittoch does not pretend to be a Michelin starred restaurant. On a sunny day, it's very pleasant to sit outside of an evening with a chilled glass of Pinot.

Lovely dinner! The new menu was fantastic and service from Lara and Jemma in particular was excellent. Bar staff were also incredibly friendly. Alexander particularly stuck out, a very happy character. Will definitely be back!
