The New Lamplighter in Stratford-on-Avon

Such a wonderful old pub, the staff are fantastic!!! Lindsey and Emma went above and beyond to make us welcome,it was my birthday weekend,we popped in on the friday and got chatting to the girls,on our arrival again on the Saturday to watch a band I was greeted with a ballon and prosecco aswell as the Texan peacocks singing happy birthday. We had an amazing night,the locals are so friendly and the place was buzzing,We can't wait to visit again.

Miserable bar staff,beer not to bad,but need aggie and kim here!....mr loubars disregarded my 2nd visit saying it was a false review.no it wasnt.i love stratford.this pub used to be great,but skysports?.....no thanks.the staff need smile training.

Popped in for a drink, we soon popped out!! The chairs were covered in stains, the table and floor was sticky. It needs a good clean. Dont go.

Sitting within the range of the open air market is this oasis for rugby enthusiasts.We need a drink and a sit,this we got.The place was buzzing with rugby on all available screens,as the locals roared to the players tackles.The drinks were very good,staff were friendly ,and it was a great experience.

Went on a Friday evening before a meal out.A great find very friendly and extremely reasonable on drink prices ie two pints of local ale a large white wine and gin & tonic came to £12 Absolutely bargain.Oh just one thing be careful there's a big step up to the bar on entry that I missed my own fault made for a little light entertainment for the the regulars.

Dirty. Disengaged team. We were overcharged but when challenged the price of the round was instantly reduced due to their “Mistake”. Drinks unpalatable so we simple left.

In town but with a local feel but as a tourist still felt welcome. popped in early evening as a group were setting up so stayed a little longer. They were good. Board outside listed forthcoming groups for Friday and Saturday evenings.

Don’t bother going into this dive .. Went into this place for a illy coffee which was advertised outside on their board whilst visiting Stratford , 10 mins waiting to watch the bar man (young lad) who spent 9 minutes on his mobile , so our friend went up to ask about our coffees to be told the coffee machine was warming up I was sat in full view of the bar to watch him make us coffee and use a white kettle when questioned that the coffee wasn’t illy coffee but an instant the Lad decided to argue that it was from the machine and it was an Americano . I said why did I just see you use the kettle ? His reply was to top up the cups TOTAL LIE ! if I had been quick enough I would have taken a pictures even when my friend said to him don’t worry we are leaving he continued to argue so he was politely told that he needed to brush up on his customer service skills and learn to be honest .. I hope the landlord who was sat drinking at the bar reads this and enjoys the £6.90 for the worst coffee’s you could imagine having , save your money and go and find a greasy spoon to have a coffee it would probably taste better .

We are all music lovers and wanted to see a live band we had a sneaky pint in the day to check the place out. We saw a band Friday night - off the grid they were great. Decided to return Saturday night saw another band and they were awesome!! Friendly staff, good selection of beer, lager wines and spirits. Decor is a little dated and could do with a freshen up but a warm welcome and buzzing atmosphere makes up for it. Thanks all.

This looked great from the outside. It smelled and was dirty. The carpets are disgusting and the chair that my wife almost sat on was just avoided in time. One consellation was the young lady who served us our drinks and was very pleasant. Otherwise, it would have been a one star vote.

We come to Stratford Upon Avon frequently, and brought my sisterinlaw and husband for a few days break, after parking the car in the multi story and walkin down to court jester we stumbled across this friendly down to earth pub, friendly staff and prices were nothing like down the main drag, lovely outside area at the back and theres always good music with live bands at weekends, we,ll deffo be back 🍻🥂🍷🍸there is also a fab cocktail list 😃

Popped in as it was opposite our hotel and wished we hadn't bothered. It all looks a little down at heel and grubby,with loud locals and disinterested staff.

Good meals and plenty of seating choice. Children readily accepted and catered for. Place for a pint but not a great choice.

Pub is a little cracker with mixed decor and a decent pint, just be careful as there is scheduled of I think regulars who think they can tell customers where not to sit, we drank up and left, sort out your customers and you'll have a very welcoming g pub

Popped in for a quick drink. Piles of dirty glasses on the end of the bar. Smelly and unkempt. Drink ( Stella) tasted off. Left pretty sharpish.

En un viaje de un día a Stratford, caminando por el mercado y me apetecía una cerveza. Ocupado, pero no lleno, el amable personal del bar me sirvió una cerveza de verdad y una bebida a base de fruta para mi señora. El ambiente era bueno de lo que parecía ser lugareños.

Fuimos a este pub un sábado por la noche debido a la música en vivo. Gran banda tocando covers de rock moderno. Ambiente genial, muy ocupado y tuvimos una gran noche. Obviamente no conozco el pub en el día, pero estaba bien para lo que queríamos esa noche. Los baños eran terribles, sin papel higiénico, probablemente dice mucho.

Great prices, very friendly bar staff who made me feel very welcome, I would strongly recommend this bar to anyone visiting Stratford Upon Avon.

Límite de tarjeta, ridículo no sólo comprar una bebida en la tarjeta como límite de £5. Ambiente muy extraño que ha sido a veces agresiva e incómoda. Servicio lento y horrible decoración.

Have been working in Stratford for a number of weeks, stumbled upon this little pub and have been made to feel that welcome I almost feel at home. They had the Davenports top brew on, strong beer at a very reasonable price, temperature was top and taste was up to scratch! Staff very friendly and fun. Will be bringing my wife down to visit in the summer as I'm told there's loads to do here. On the overall.. pub is good, needs to a lick of paint in fewPlaces but doesn't effect the atmosphere. Staff friendly, Beers brilliant and good prices 5**

In Stratford for a weekend break at the end of November. Came in because a band was playing who sounded great from outside and atmosphere seemed good. By the end of the night the place was busy but the atmosphere got a bit tense as the alcohol flowed so we left. Later on, walking back to our hotel there was a fight going outside and police trying to break it up. Glad we left before it kicked off

We had a couple of drinks in the lamplighter prior to a gig at the art house found the place nice and relaxing good service when the gig had finished we popped back in for one for the road it started to get a bit rowdy so headed back to our hotel would drink there again next time in Stratford.

The Lamp is a great pub with friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Live music is put on every weekend, and every other Sunday there is an open mic night for musicians to come and do their stuff, a local band that plays, for free! The landlady is a lovely girl, trying her best to run a pub as well as have her own personal life. As for drugs, every pub in Stratford seems to have a problem, because the police can't be bothered to do anything about it. It's a fact of life and rife in Stratford. I would recommend the Lamp to anyone visiting Stratford.

I drink here most weekends and have done for the last 10 years it's a very friendly pub and the landlady is so friendly and the bar staff

A nice local pub in the centre of the town, Friendly staff and locals bring a welcoming atmosphere to the place. Weekends bring live music talent into the mix if you like the gig scene, finally Sundays if you fancy giving it a go you can join in with the open mic nights....

Fantastic old fashioned pub in the heart of Stratford town. On entrance was greeted with lovely, polite and welcoming staff, who looked to be enjoying themselves and had constant smiles on their faces. Whilst I was there, entertainment was on in the form of a band who were brilliant! The atmosphere was excellent and everybody looked to be having a great time. Drinks were well priced and tasted even better. Would highly recommend the pub to anyone!!

I love this pub, since the new landlady has taken it over again it's been a great place to go and it always has a lovely and friendly staff! I go here every weekend and without fail I have an awesome time. The drinks are cheap and the music is good. Couldn't think of anywhere like lovely in town. Lovely cosy little pub.

Traditional little pub, very friendly staff that are always happy to talk to you. Great pint and very reasonable prices compared to most other pubs in the town centre.

I recently visited the Lamplighter with several family members and we had a lovely time. Brilliant outdoor area perfect for sitting out in the summer. Staff that couldn't do anymore for you...so kind, friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend. Brilliant atmosphere and a great time enjoyed by all the family. Will visit again very soon.

Underage drinkers. Manager that sleeps around. Police there constantly. Lots of drugs. Approach with caution unless you're a football hooligan

Poor service and tired decor, a locals pub not for visiting tourists. a nice outside area where there was seating but felt the bar staff could have made more effort and been more hospitable .

Just opposite the Arts centre & the American fountain down the road, this is a great pub.. we had tasty latte's and found the pub quite big with an outside garden as well. T.V for those who want to see the sports etc... we enjoyed our early morning visit..

this is a nice little pub but the food can be hit and miss and the staff some times go about in a right mess not the sort of place you want to eat

At first glance there's nothing to make the Lamplighter stand out, it's just an average pub really.However, in a tourist town with designer pubs (with prices to match) in abundance it's a nice change.The seating is mostly soft furnishings - sofas etc. The small Lounge is more like a TV room but nice and cosy.It has a beer garden. There's a good selection of beers, and the usual jukebox, gaming and quiz machine etc etc. All-in-all a good olde English pub, nothing special but nothing expensive either.We visited every day we were in Stratford.

Have visited the lamplighter many times before but always forgot to get the name to write a review. This is always a busy pub whatever time of year or time of day I've visited and its location near the train station means it's ideal as a first or last pub on our annual Xmas pub crawl. Good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. The decor is looking a little tired now but it by no means takes away from the ambience of the venue.

Rather dirty and tatty. No real ales available. Such a pity, we were expecting a little more from a town centre pub in this area.

I had visited this pub after a day out at the Stratford Race Course with my family.The pub itself looks full of character and old fashioned set in the heart of Stratford town centre. Upon arrival we had ordered a round of drinks including 6 shots of Sambuca. (A bit of a tradition we have.) Now it may sound petty, commenting on the measure of the shots we was given but not only was that a bit of a joke, but the way the manager himself handled the situation. So having to pay £5.00 for 3 shots (6 shots in total) we thought it would be acceptable to comment on not getting the full measure we was paying for (all in good jest i may add.)To this the manager made a point by saying he couldn't top them up any more.He then made a rather pathetic point in pouring the shot into a shot measuring cap for it to be under the marker. Petty and immature service. Also embarrassing i might add. For the sake of topping up the shots so your customers are actually getting what they are paying for would be wise and wouldn't leave us with such a bitter taste in our mouths. Won't be coming back I'm afraid

This is a real"Locals" pub.My wife and I visited this little pub for a quick drink. The toilets were not that clean, I'm afraid and the general "feel" of the pub was that the pub could do with refurbishment. The tables were "sticky". The beer was good and the staff polite. The pub wasn't very busy at the time but the next day (Saturday) we walked past and there were doorman manning the front door. We kept away! Sorry we will not be returning.
