We stayed here 17th and 18th of May 2024. We chose this location as it was within driving distance of Skipton. Great location with gorgeous views Free parking The room was lovely clean, a very comfy bed, and an excellent shower. Coffee, Tea facilities, and a small fridge. You order and pay extra for an english breakfast, if required the night before. We ordered breakfasts at £15 pp for each of the two days of stay but cancelled the second days breakfast. The cooked breakfast was poor, very greasy and tastless, no cereal or toast was included for your £15. Take your own breakfast as there are no shops to purchase food in the village. Skipton was great well worth a visit. Park in Skipton Castle car park at £3:50 for all day, just a short walk to the amazing centre where there are ots of shops/ cafes etc there. We had a lovely short break in Appletreewick despite our breakfast disaster as this was the only negative. Would I stay there again? Yes

I booked this as somewhere to stay whilst visiting Yarndale event on 24th September Unfortunately it was the only place available and is in the middle of nowhere literally - it is a popular venue for walkers and cyclists. The pub itself requires some updating and cleaning but has all the hallmarks of a traditional pub. It was very busy and with the exception of a few people was mostly very loud locals. The room I booked was a twin bedded room overlooking the courtyard - the view was in fact over looking a dumping ground and not at all attractive - the photo on expedia is very misleading. The room was clean, the beds very comfortable and the bathroom also clean - however we were fortunately two slim women because there was no space between the beds for two people to pass. One bed was under the eaves so caution was required. The shower was very good and hot fortunately. The mini fridge served as a single bedside table, though it was well stocked with your breakfast requirements. Breakfast was a couple of rolls delivered dropped outside the door. The tea and coffee facilities was very good We hadn't realised that you MUST pre-order your meals - so that means you have to guess at what you might feel like eating later... unfortunately the menu was very uninspiring, a soup of the morning, various pies or curries, to hazard a guess the food was batch cooked and defrosted as required., so we didn't bother. The bar was very noisy and packed, there was however a good selection of beers, gins etc. And every one was very friendly. Big downside is the location from Skipton and the fact it closes at random times depending how many people were in the bar at the time.

This is the first review I have written on TripAdvisor. I would recommend anyone reading my review, to read the details below, and not to visit The New Inn. I thought it was important to share my experience to anyone visiting Appletreewick when choosing a pub, and to anyone who is local too. I visited The New Inn on 19th July 2021 in the afternoon, this was the first day that restrictions were lifted. Upon my arrival a customer in front of me was queuing wearing a mask, I also was wearing a mask out of personal choice, to protect others around me and myself. The landlord came to the corridor and asked us both why were wearing our marks, and suggested we should not be wearing them. At this stage I didn't know this was the landlord, I thought it was someone that had been drinking inside the pub, so didn't pay attention to the rude comments, and ignored him. The customer in front of me, advised he was keeping his distance to other customers ordering drinks at the bar, so I followed the same format, by distancing 2m and waiting at the door. When I arrived at the bar, the landlord asked me 'why have you got that on your face, are you going to take it off?' My response was 'I don't want to catch covid' He replied 'Are you one of those people who thinks that covid exists, then laughed at me' and suggested it was a myth and that he wouldn't serve me until I removed my mask. The punters at the pub started jeering at me, there was 3 in total, and suggested he wouldn't serve me until my mask was taken off. Then landlord then then walked to the back of the bar area and didn't take my drinks order. I was humiliated, shocked and whilst choosing what drink to order, I decided to leave, I didn't say anything. This was approximately 3.30pm, the pub was due to open at 3pm, so I wouldn't have expected anyone to be drunk either. The customer who had queued infront of me, asked if I was ok when I left, as he noticed I had arrived in the beer garden with no drinks. He had also encountered the same experience prior to me, although they served him wearing his mask. He told me the landlord charged him £7 for 2 x lemonades. From reading other TripAdvisor review for The New Inn, it appears the landlord is making the prices up to those customers he thinks are tourists. Several reviews state the shocking prices customers have been charged. It seems the landlord also picks and chooses the customers he wants to be nice to, hence the mixed reviews. For those who are looking for a pub that is COVID-safe, the landlord advised he doesn't believe that COVID exists. The locals in the village asked me who spoke to me at the bar at The New Inn, it was a gentleman with long grey hair, they confirmed this was the landlord. The landlord is also choosing to not protect both his customers and staff by asking customers to remove masks that choose to wear them out of personal choice. There is a clear reason why this pub regularly has an empty and quiet beer garden, next to The Craven Arms. Even if the Craven Arms is full, the landlord does not deserve the business for the way he speaks to customers.

If you’re looking for a ‘proper’ traditional pub then look no further. Bar staff are great and there is a terrific feel and look to the place. It’s no surprise the locals see this as the centre of the village where their day is shared with friends and neighbors.

We came to the village of cononley for our ‘mini moon’ and whilst there visited the new inn 3 times. The beer was good, the wine was good and the place very warm and welcoming with a country feel and toasty log burners. But mostly what makes this place is the lovely land lady Jayne and the array of very friendly locals. Jayne made us feel most welcome. We had some good banter with the locals who were so friendly ( even if they were Man Utd and Leeds Utd fans... haha). The welcome we received was fantastic and we will definitely go out of our way to visit again. Thank you to every one at the new inn for making our break even better than it already was!

Taken to the New Inn by my wife as a treat following her recent visit to Cononley with a group of her friends. We received a very warm welcome from the landlady. The pub is full of very friendly locals who will readily engage in conversation. A fine selection of Timothy Taylor’s which is kept very well and was delicious. Had to have several. Will definitely recommend this brilliant village pub and will visit again hopefully to dine as well.

Food is served Wed - Sunday. We went on a Sunday T time. Good menu including Sunday roast but we opted for the homemade Pie of the day - Steak and Ale. The food was excellent and there was lots of it we both struggled to clear our plates and there was no way we could manage pudding afterwards. This was one of the best pub meals we have had in along time. Good traditional home cooked food. Good friendlt service and reasonably priced given the quality and amount of food you got.

We all were getting together as friends travelling from all over Britain and our dear friend booked the new inn at Cononley a table for 10 and explained the occasion. This was done a couple of weeks in advance When we arrived at 6 .45 pm the table was full and napkins and knives and forks not yet in use so we were surprised when the lady said it would not be long !!! Then another lady behind the bar raised her eyes and while walking away described how she had “lost the will to live “, this did not inspire us !!! We bought a round of drinks and a bottle of pressecco and took it outside and waited and waited ,it was now 7.15 and I saw main course going to the table so we realised we were not going to be served anytime soon , however when a girl came with menu she told us they were just finishing their drinks ( a lie obviously ) we knew they were not being honest with us and we choose to leave it was unfortunate but when 10 people who are going to and prepared to pay approx £50 a head incl wine then you do not appreciate lies honesty would have been the best policy in this case

This is a real gem hidden in a small village - Cononly! The community feel in this pub is so amazing and the local people so warm and welcoming. We had the most 'lush' meal. Wondered if this was going to be a good experience, as when we walked in, the bar fell silent, maybe it was because we had three dogs with us. Anyway, they kindly allowed us to eat in the bar, and we are pleased to say the dogs behaved very well, much to our relief. Just felt they were not keen on the fact we had dogs with us, which is fair enough, but it sort of spoilt it a little bit for us. The staff were polite. The food, was excellent, really enjoyed it, and perhaps would go again but without the dogs.

Walked over to the pub (lovely surroundings) from a nearby B&B.; Arrived a bit early to order dinner so had a beer while I waited. Barmaid brought over a menu for me to have a look at which had a good choice of pub grub. Just before ordering time staff came over to take my order which was a nice touch. Steak, chips, onion rings etc all excellent and finished with a sticky toffee pud. Staff were very friendly and I felt very looked after. I tried 3 of the 4 different Timothy Taylors beers on offer all were excellent. Would definitely go again if I was in the area. Pub had a nice friendly atmosphere with nice village feel.

We had dinner here recently and were treated like long lost friends. The food is unpretentious good pub grub. Portions are generous and service was excellent. The pub was warm and very friendly with a lovely stove throwing out lots of heat on a grey November evening. It's a Timothy Taylor's pub so the beer was excellent and I had a good glass of Rose with my meal. The locals were chatty and welcoming too we were sorry that we were too tired to stay for the quiz. We called in this pub after a long journey to Cononley (only because we got lost). We were hungry but it was well after 2 p.m. when we got in there. We asked the landlord if food was still being served he said it was too late and everything had been switched off. His wife who was the landlady just said no its okay I will turn everything back on again, which she did and proceeded to make us a lovely meal of fish and chips obviously freshly cooked and tasted delicious, she even gave my husband some bread. The pud is really nice inside it had a roaring fire much appreciated as it was a very cold weekend, we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. Will most certainly be calling here again when next in the area.

We've visited many times and chosen from the breakfast menu which has always been first class. However today I decided to choose a punjabi lunch special which was brown lentil Dahl yogurt, salad and freshly made chapati, oh my word it was first class. Well worth the 36 mile round trip.
