Went this evening after reading the reviews and absolutely lived up to my expectations, steak was fantastic and. was cooked to perfection also made to feel so very welcome with all the locals, definitely one to visit in Wedmore

Visited The New Inn 3 times during our week long stay. It was the highlight of our trip.The food was out of this world. The best steak we have eaten. A wide selection of burgers which were very generous in portion size. We were made to feel extremely welcome in the pub. Would highly recommend.

Would give 6 stars if allowed. Sensational food, 4 x fillets and 1 x tomahawk cooked to perfection. Brilliant pub atmosphere, the only thing I’d change would be to have the pub more local to our home in Essex so we could visit more often! Going back for more food in 2 days.

We happened to be staying in the village for 2 nights and saw that Wednesday night was steak night so booked a table. We were not disappointed - we both had the steak with trimmings - my husband had the surf and turf and I had the steak , both had sauces - peppercorn and blue cheese and came with a free drink. Quality was great as was the quantity - one of the best steaks we have had in a while. Met the chef/owner who was lovely as was the bar maid. Service was excellent and everybody was very friendly.Had a wonderful few hours and would thoroughly recommend giving this place a try.

Fabulous! We popped in for a drink on our recent visit to the area and booked the tomahawk steak for the following evening. The food was truly outstanding, amazing quality and cooked to perfection. The owners were so kind to our little girl and made her feel really special, even treating her to a cookie dough ice cream. A wonderful little place and we will definitely return. Thank you 😊

First time visit to lovely old pub in Wedmore - proper locals pub, unpretentious and friendly. Called in on steak night; delicious & reasonably priced food😋 will definitely be going again!

We were camping so wanted a down to earth local pub with good food and this is where we went Limited menu but we had steak and chips sat out in the nice garden and it was really excellent at a reasonable price for steak ! Thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Amazing local pub where us two Canadians ( Jim and Sherryn ) were welcomed with open arms. Great burgers , wonderful wine and met the cutest little black cat called Max. Wonderful chat with proprietor Alex on the two nights we were there. We joined in on Trivia Night first night which was so fun!! We absolutely love The New Inn! We stayed in Wedmore for a week and this became our go to pub. Alex and Emma were awesome and couldn't be more accommodating. We chatted with Alex at length each time we were there. He regaled us with many a story and declared his affinity for"Timmies" when he found out we were not only from Canada but from Hamilton, the birthplace of Tim Hortons. This was exactly the type of pub we were looking for, friendly, local and with good basic food. The scampi and fish&chips were great and my husband had a steak and said one of the best he'd had. One afternoon we just went for a pint abd ended up chating with the locals who tried to explain the game is cricket to us. Loved the whole experience, make sure if in the area to stop in, we'll worth your time. Oh, and say hi to Max, the pub cat!🐈‍⬛

Great proper 'local' dog-friendly pub, Wednesday night is steak night so we had straight steak and a 'surf and turf'. Both (locally-sourced) sirloin steaks were excellent, cooked just as we wanted/ordered (med/rare) and so flavoursome, complete with a pint of local beer. Service was cheerful and welcoming. If you want a welcoming, unpretentious, good value food and drink - try the New Inn.

What a find on a cold night, felt very welcomed. Great choice of Ales. I had the steak, I have to say that that was the best steak I have ever had.

Fabulous pub great selection of local ales all the staff make you feel very welcome, went in on a Saturday night for a meal a small section on the menu but also had a specials board, I had a pulled pork burger that was really good.

We visited the New Inn when on holiday for a few days in Wedmore and were delighted. Alex and his wife are welcoming and the food and beer were excellent. We ate there two evenings, one of which was steak night. They accommodated our fussy child (who cleared her plate) and the food was tasty and reasonably priced. We were there when the local skittles matches were on and there was a good atmosphere, the locals were really friendly and we had a couple of great evenings. If we are back in the area again we will be sure to visit!

Once again the New Inn proves to be just outstanding. This time we went on Wednesday evening for Steak Night and no complaints whatsoever. Superbly cooked and very tender steak with salad and chips. Thanks Alex and Gem for a great evening and for getting the stronger beers, really appreciate it.

Booked a week away at Hill Crest cottage and the New Inn was a 10 minute walk away. Went on our first night and were amazed: lovely atmosphere, wonderful welcoming staff & locals and excellent food! Enjoyed it so much we ate there 5 nights out of 7! Gemma and Alex are the ultimate hosts, nothing is too much trouble, we couldn’t have asked for anything more and wish it was our local. If you want character, warmth, charm, fantastic food and a place where dogs are welcome, you can’t go wrong. We’ll definitely be back, waistlines permitting .

Cannot recommend enough. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic welcome, food was to die for and completely covid compliant. Wished it was my local. Landlord cannot do enough for you. Me and my wife both had the 8oz rump which is local beef, mouth watering and cooked to perfection (too many chips though ) very good clean beer and lager. Perfection at its best!!!!

So, the second post-covid weekend & we popped down to Wedmore for a couple of nights. Went into The New Inn for a drink late Friday afternoon & had a very pleasant pint whilst chatting to the landord. Decided to go back for food and got exactly what we wanted/ ordered. Crispy fish & chips, mushy peas, tartar sauce etc. Nice. £10 each. Drinks reasonably priced too. Good value village pub (recently refurbished & clean), nice atmosphere, glad we went.

Very disappointed to have arrived at 8:32 on Friday evening & asked for the menu. The barmaid looked carefully at the clock, & told us we were too late to eat! What’s the pint in advertising food if they close the kitchen just when people want to eat?Sorry, first visit & may well be our last.

Went in to watch the Bristol City match on the unobtrusive and we’ll-placed TV and had a fabulous time! The landlord is incredibly accommodating and friendly. Great local beers and ciders. Beautifully appointed.

After a long absence I popped into the New Inn for a lunchtime pint today and was delighted to see that the whole place has been refurbished. New floor, new furniture, fresh paint, discrete TV, no inaccurate clock (long story). A lot of time, and money, has been spent revitalising this traditional village pub.Most importantly there were lots of great choices on draft. The New Inn always kept the best beer in Wedmore and it looks like that tradition will continue.No food yet, but you can't have everything and I'm sure that will come soon.

Seen some poor reviews recently - ignore them. Excellent quality beer, lovely place. If you are in the Wedmore area, give it a go. We will be going back.

With the other two pubs in Wedmore being of the gastro variety- one of them particularly pretentious and overpriced - you might think that the market was wide open for The New Inn to clean up as the traditional value for money alternative. It’s a cosy and comfy pub that sells good beer and food, but the service at lunchtime was so slow that people were fading away as they waited for sustenance. Rumour has it that it’s on the market - I hope some bright entrepreneur sees it’s potential and snaps it up soon.

We love our trips to see Frank and Debbie. They are always really accommodating and there's always food available. A proper village pub. Great food, drinks and hosts.

Really friendly. Deb and frank greeted us. Deb was very chatty and gave us ideas on what to do whilst we stayed in wedmore. Lamb tagine was flavour some and was serred with cous cous and the best chips I have tasted for ages. All this serred with farmhouse cider. Delicious. We will return if we are in the area again.

Stayed in Wedmore for the weekend and researched what pubs were in the village before we travelled. The New Inn stood out as the most normal, friendly and down to earth local pub. We were not disappointed, lovely welcome from the owners, my husband enjoyed the choice of beer and we both had lovely meals. Would visit again.

Booked a table over the phone in advance before stayig a few days near by when I called to check the time they advised I wasnt booked in so we went somewhere else

My family visited The New Inn seeing it had a relatively high review on here. As soon as we walked in everyone stopped talking and stared at us, we asked if they were serving food and the barmaid had to go and check with the kitchen if they were. She reluctantly took us to a table and handed us dirty, crumpled up menus. There was only around 10 items on the menu and only two were vegetarian (I’m vegetarian). We decided we wouldn’t be eating there and got up to leave, letting the barmaid know that there wasn’t anything that I could eat. The chef, who I presume is the owner was also standing next to the bar and made a point of saying what vegetarian options they have. He said that there was fried halloumi, and I said I didn’t really like halloumi so we started to leave. As we left he said to my parents ‘Rather you have her than me’ and tutted. We weren’t rude to the staff at any point, and they made us feel very unwelcome and out of place. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, and should perhaps work on their manners and hospitality before they expect people to want to go there.

Habiendo examinado las opciones de fidelización de langosta, cangrejos, peces monje, lubina, mejillones o fresca eglefino, guisantes blandos y patatas fritas a Frank excelente "pescado y patatas fritas" gobernó de cabeza y corazón. Lo trajeron un maravilloso filete de abadejo recién preparado - ninguna señal de pescado cocidas aquí! Totalmente recomendado. No puedo esperar para su semana comida asiática en agosto!

Pequeño, pub atmosférico, era comida de domingo publicidad, así que nos fuimos. Inmediatamente acogidos por los propietarios pidieron sentarse en la zona de bar, dieron un menú. Really friendly hosts. The food we had was really good fresh simple pub fayre. We enjoyed very much. The locals are just great, we were made to feel very welcome. Good craic and banter. Excellent beer. Great night out. This is a proper pub.

OK, from the start let me declare an interest in as much as "The New Inn" is my Village Local. That said, this is a totally honest review of the food and services experienced during the recent "Pie Week"The "Steak & Kidney Pudding" was simply to die for!! The Homemade Pudding had a wonderful suet covering, with the inside generously filled with a beautifully seasoned and super tasty filling. Served with Chips, Peas and an individual Boat of fantastic gravy, this meal was a triumph! I choose a Pint of the outstanding "London Pride" to accompany this meal, with the price included in the "Pie Week" offer price of ....wait for it... Ten Pounds for a Pie PLUS a Glass of Wine or Beer/Cider!With plenty of competition in a small village (and I do sometimes frequent the other fine establishments all of which have good things to offer) my continued return to "The New Inn" where the food never disappoints is assured.

So many pubs doing Sunday roast which are often disappointing that you want to stand on your chair and clap when you get one like this. Four of us and no-one could find fault. Generous cuts of tender beef ( Lamb and chicken options), perfect roasties, 5 fresh veg, and all the trimmings. This is a ' real ' pub also that prides itself on its ale offerings. The house wine is also very good.The regular menu is also very varied with something for all tastes. And watch out for theme nights/weeks......fish week Nov 7 offers 6 different fish dishes. We booked!

Slightly off the beaten track in Wedmore but well worth searching out. Friendly and welcoming staff and a menu which should satisfy most people. We had an excellent meal at a not exorbitant price. I guess the New Inn comes to life in the evening - at the lunch-time we were there, we were the only patrons, so the atmosphere was quiet, to say the least.The New Inn is the home of the Turnip Prize (forget the Turner Prize, this is the real thing!) as well as the international conker championships. (though not when we were there). A real village pub, as village pubs ought to be.

This is a smashing friendly local pub. The landlord and landlady are very nice people, they serve good traditional pub food. I can recommend the steak, salad and chips, lovely and perfectly cooked. Reasonably priced food and drinks, the best pub in Wedmore.

As a regular at this small friendly, old fashioned traditional pub I always enjoy a well cooked meal - Fish & chips are the best in Somerset in my view, the mini grill is hardly mini and of excellent quality - steaks great - with curry, chilli, spicy lambburgers on the menu not forgetting the tender squid starter and syrup and ginger pudding - you will not be hungry. Importantly prices are sensible.There are more up-market gastro pubs in Wedmore but for a good meal and good beer the New Inn is the place to be!

Called in without booking and received a warm welcome We sat in garden with our dog although we could have taken him in The food was excellent home cooked and fresh and the staff lovely.

We're lucky enough to find this gem of a pub when staying in Wedmore for a week. Landlord and Lady very friendly and welcoming. Served food with a smile at 8.30pm and it was really good, fresh home cooked. Sausage, onions and mash and a chilli and rice. Both were excellent, piping hot, filling portions and good price at £26 including drinks. Came back tonight for the 2 meals with a drink for £20 Thursday special. Same food, same generous portions. The home made steak and kidney pudding melted in the mouth and the meat fell apart..... A generous dish of 4 fresh veg went with it Perfection!! There is a good choice of homemade deserts if you have room..... Do yourself a favour and wait till you can make that room.....

Lovely friendly old fashioned pub. Many homemade specialities available, we loved the the Indian spiced lamb burger on our visit. Nice big plate full, good value, a perfect casual eat.

We pop in here regularly in the week for dinner & a drink - always made welcome, and always enjoyable and reasonably priced food. Fish & Chips are exceptional, but served only from Wednesday - Saturday as only then is fresh fish available, an the spare ribs on other days are a dish to travel a long way to enjoy.This is a village pub, not "fine dining", so don't come dressed up, and be prepared for the locals to be in the bar as well as eaters, but its well worth the visit, and better than a much more "exclusive" alternative in the village.

Went to see the Beagles had a pleasant few hours in this local. Did not eat but food looked ok. Dogs allowed where no carpet, this was a games room at the end of the bar. The fun and games pub of Wedmore. Going to the regular folk night next.

We have eaten here several times in the last couple of months both as a couple and as a family and it has been consistently good. Great choice of dishes, delicious food, very reasonably priced and the owners are lovely.

Having eaten here about 18 months ago we revisited the New Inn for dinner whilst staying locally, and were disappointed with what we were served on this occasion. It seemed like we were being dished up pre-prepared / packaged meals simply heated up rather than anything freshly cooked. Maybe the way of the world in many places these days to keep costs down, but equally it's still a shame when local pubs do go down that avenue.

I left a bad review of this establishment last spring and having read some more encouraging reviews decided to try it again. Nothing had improved, discourteous service, a 40 minute wait and cold food eventually arrived. On complaining to the owner or manager I was told to take it or leave it, I left it and will never return.

We visited the restaurant last week as a group of 8 for dinner. I chose the Spinach and Feta Filo Pie as the battered fish had run out. I was very disappointed as it was unpleasant, tasteless and far too much pastry, in fact I left a large portion of it. Not wanting to cause a fuss on the evening, I telephoned a day later and spoke to the manager to give my comments on my meal. He thanked me for my feedback and offered nothing to compensate for the poor quality food or to entice me back. We are locals and regularly eat out, we wont be going back.

Cute, low beamed ceilings and a real feel for how local pubs used to be (showing my age here) before the 'chains' took over. I believe this is an owner run pub and it shows in the care they take with their food! Chef came out to meet us and check everything was ok with meals, service etc. Food was delicious, kids totally celared their plates, always a good sign. We had arrived in Wedmore on the Friday and we decided to find a. Local restaurant for our evening meal. One where the price a was reasonable. The New Inn is a typical village pub but the food and service was excellent. We were made welcome and my wife's gluten and dairy intolerance was accommodated. The food was tasty and well served reasonably quickly but without rushing. We would recommend this eatery to anyone who requires plain and homely food but very enjoyable too.

Just had a super meal. Landlord and Landlady couldn't do more. Beer was beautiful, our food great. The landlord talked us through the best choices and altered dishes to suit my daughter who has special dietary needs. The locals are inclusive and the place feels warm and welcoming. I had ribs and they were fantastic.

Visited during a stay in nearby Theale in April 2015. Food was very good and well priced. There were only a handful of people in during my visit, but the previous night they apparently had to turn 16 people away as it was completely full. Would very much recommend if you can get in!

This was our third visit for lunch, and each time the food has been excellent. The fish is particularly good. The Landlord and his wife are very friendly and helpful, he doing the cooking and she running the bar. A slight wait for food as it is all freshly cooked to order. Real ale was good, and this pub is one of the best around this part of Somerset?

Excellent Good Friday Meal! Fish was huge and perfectly cooked, batter fantastic, light and crispy which complimented the fish as opposed to over-powering it as is often the case! & all washed down with a cold/crisp pint of Thatchers Gold - Sadly no room for desert.

I do not recommend this pub at all. The beer is disgusting, the lines are never cleaned. We had sausages which were cold and uncooked. The owners are very rude and not welcoming at all!! Don't waste your money on coming here...
