The New Inn managed to fit us in at 24hrs notice for Sunday lunch. Quite tricky as we were a table of 8. The setting is lovely and only just off the Strawberry Line which was perfect as we were cycling though. Sunday lunch was lovely, tender meat, perfect sized portions with lots of sides. Kids and adults all equally satisfied. Will definitely recommend and return soon.

It's a very nice country pub with a lovely beer garden. I can't comment on the food as I was just a passing by and needed a pint. The staff are very friendly and from what I understand is that the bar gets very busy from 16.30 in the afternoons when the locals start coming in.

Absolute gem of a place that we stumbled upon almost by accident. We were there early (4.45ish) so we're able to get a table without having booked. The menu is excellent and the specials all sounded delicious. Our party had the lamb and mint burger, Tuna with risotto and fish & chips and all meals were really tasty and beautifully presented. We are not local but would definitely make a point of going for food again when anywhere near.

Just popped over there to have a big ol' meal for the family at lunchtime - 50th birthday for m' aunt. Everybody's dinners looked amazing and it was thumbs up all round! I had a late breakfast so had the baked camembert from the specials menu - it was either that or I was going to go for the focacia starter with the soup. The menu made that sound a lot nicer than my basic explanation! Other option for me was to go for the soup with some seasoned fries and piece of mature cheddar. Cheddar of course being... just down the road! I trust and hope it was local, hey! So uhh, yeah another great looking dish that caught my eye and my cousins, was a mint lamb burger with haloumi, c'orr it looked bloody great. My bread with the camembert was baked and super fresh! Very good bread indeed. Could've done with more butter, but still - great dish! The prices are a little steep for my student butt, but the food goes to show for that - big time! The atmosphere is surely nice enough and I was engulfed in the nostalgia of seeing the play park with its iconic tree face play thing, and the swing set. The kiddies seemed entertained! So uhhm, yeah - highly recommend - nice owner, nice bar lady, waitress took photos for the family with a smile on her face, waiter seemed a little pressured or something - ended up knocking some bits over and the pickle that fell behind me had me made a joke of. No it didn't come out me pants, uncle! Hehe hehe. Nah it was great there, and I can't wait to go back!

I have visited this pub regularly over the last couple of years and always had excellent food but I have never had the Sunday lunch before until today and my goodness it was the best roast I have ever eaten out! Title: Exquisite Sunday Roast Experience at The New Inn Cross Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently had the pleasure of indulging in a delightful Sunday roast at The New Inn Cross, and I must say it was a truly exceptional experience from start to finish. From the warm and inviting ambiance of the pub to the mouthwatering dishes served, every aspect of my visit exceeded my expectations. The roast itself was a culinary masterpiece - the perfectly cooked meats were succulent and flavorful, accompanied by a generous selection of seasonal vegetables that were cooked to perfection. The crispy roast potatoes and fluffy Yorkshire pudding were the cherry on top of this delectable meal. What truly stood out to me was the impeccable service provided by the staff. They were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of perfect. The cozy atmosphere of the pub added to the overall charm of the meal, making it a truly memorable Sunday afternoon. I highly recommend The New Inn Cross for anyone looking to enjoy a traditional Sunday roast in a welcoming and cozy setting. Whether you're a local looking for a new favorite spot or a visitor passing through, this pub is a must-visit for food enthusiasts and casual diners alike. I cannot wait to return for another unforgettable dining experience.

Hi, we went to this restraunt on a Sunday and was expecting a nice roast dinner. We went around 5pm and HAD RAN OUT. This was really upsetting for us. We then ordered some drinks and they had no glasses that were washed so the bar tender had to go wash some up. I then received my drink and it was bassically half full. I personally think that it is very expensive for what it was. My burger was 15 quid and has to wait 30minutes for it. It was a medium burger with around 6 chips. I’m not being a Karen I’m just being honest. I don’t think I will be returning

A mix of locals at the bar/seating area, and tourists dining. Probably best to book ahead, since seating is limited and there are not too many independent restaurants in the locale. Parking is opposite the Inn, with on road parking available. A little tight, but okay. Food portions are large, so value is good. Everything was tasty too. Vegetarian options were limited. The New Inn, in Cross, is a fantastic example of Ye Olde English Pub - quintessentially charming and choke full of historic character. Strategically located just off the A38, the New Inn stands as yet another quaint jewel on the string of beautiful hills known as the Mendips - one of Somerset's many Areas of Natural Beauty (AoB). On this occasion, a gloriously sunny day, my daughter and I stopped by for some lunch. We were greeted warmly and personably by staff. We hadn't made a reservation, regardless, we were accommodated at a lovely bay windowed table. The menu, updated weekly, was an eclectic mix of meals all made with locally sourced ingredients. Our mains, lasagne and a revelationary vegetarian curry, were stellar. Our dessert, a very posh bread pudding was, in a word, sublime. We retired, with a couple of pints, to the rear garden and enjoyed the sites, the suds, and the sun. So, whether you're on route somewhere or you've chosen the Mendips as your destination, The New Inn is a great watering hole. With paths up into the hills and along the famous Strawberry Line, you're not short of things to do. Kids? They will love the play area out back. Just remember to book ahead, it can get busy on the weekends. If you haven't booked, don't let that put you off, head on over - they will gladly do their best to accommodate you. Here's hoping you enjoy your next outing there. Let me know when you do. 😊🤞👍👌

Lovely country pub, with friendly staff, nice beer garden with lovely views (sun trap!) and top notch food! The kids (4 & 6yrs) loved the outside play area, it’s worth noting that they are quite a few steps up to the garden and it is quite steep on the grass play area. The food was lovely, freshly cooked and so tasty. Highly recommend the chicken breast with bacon, chive mash and Boursin cheesy sauce! The chips were also super tasty and were a bit like roast potato chips (stole some of the kids 😂). The car park isn’t very big but we managed to get parked ok on the road a little bit further down in the village. We will definitely visit again.

My wife and I enjoyed a very nice carnival day lunch at the Tudor. Bridgwater, on carnival day, was heaving, but here we found a comfortable, peaceful retreat from the bustle outside. It being a very busy day, we ate from a restricted menu. There was plenty to choose from for a meat eater, but my wife, who suffers from that terrible affliction, vegetarianism. had, as usual, a more limited choise. Fortunately, a very nice fish & chips came to the rescue. (I am not sure what she has got against fish). The staff, from the senior hands to the junior trainees, were a joy - as good as it gets. All were very friendly, happy and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. A former native of Bridgwater, I have visited the Tudor many times. It has it all. Premises steeped in history, lovely food, resonable prices and, above all, superb staff. I really cannot reccomend a visir to the Tudor highly enougth.

I am reviewing 2 visits. Our first visit was for a lunchtime sandwich. Our second was for a Sunday lunch. Our lunchtime sandwich was a lovely experience. We sat in the main area of the cafe which was calm, light and airy, nice atmosphere and service. The sandwich was very good, fresh and plentiful. The Sunday lunch was served in what I would call the conservatory. It was very cramped and busy. The air conditioning was turned up way too high, but was turned off on request. The Pynes roast beef was very nicely presented but ruined by over use of garlic. The cutlery wasn't suitable as the knife didn't really cope with the beef, even though it was perfectly cooked. The dessert was delicious, I had blackberry and apple pie. On payment, we tried to use a voucher which had been given as a present. There had been a problem with the system back in June, which had cost The Levels a considerable amount of money. They said that they had sent emails to everyone explaining the problem. Our son checked, but found no trace of any email. He had however had the amount of the voucher refunded a few days after purchase. We paid for the meal, but felt a bit let down by the whole experience. Also one W.C. for male and female for a whole restaurant is not adequate.
