Best takeaway around. Remember it's cash only but it's really good always hot. We had everything on the menu.

Love this Chinese. Great food that you can see them cook. Staff are lovely and friendly. Would highly recommend. Update: 8/09/24 food still great, no complaints from us. Always fresh and cooked, the review about raw chicken I think is wrong too anx would not take any notice of it.

Hard to explain how good the food is here. I live in Portsmouth with dozens of Chinese restaurants/takeaways but will happily drive here every time as it's simply better than the rest. Recommended anything, really, but the crispy shredded beef, Singapore chow mein, salt and pepper chicken and any of the ribs are our favourites. Reasonably priced, good portions, great food.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! You do not want to order from here we got served up raw chicken and got very ill, also missing items after spending over £50 with them! Highly recommend going elsewhere. Phoned back in about missing items before realising the poor quality of food and they did not care just said we should drive back if we wanted them as they forgot to put in the bag??? Will never order from here again.

Dont waste your time going here the service is horrible, food is stale, especially the chicken balls and prawn crackers are near in yellow and prices are extortionate. Lins Wok so much better and they deliver.

Takeaway only. Back to it's best. Went downhill for a while but had last 4 takeaways from here and can't beat the chicken curry, ribs and sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style.

I've been going to this place since I was a kid, 30 odd years. Since ownership has changed hands there is a definitely noticeable drop in quality. I ordered my usual order for a treat takeawakr (we are limiting them to one per month rather than one per week, cost of living etc) and when I got home I was so shocked by the quality of almost every dish we ordered that I phoned up to see what had happened. The fried rice (a basic! Got to get this right!) was awful, stodgy, and uncooked! The chips were dripping with grease and raw. Again, these are basics you should be getting right. The chap on the phone refused to do anything about it there and then, they don't offer refunds and they couldn't deliver any fresh food. I see no reason to go back to NGL.

The BEST Chinese we have had. Pricing is good and food is consistently excellent. Their spicy duck chow mein is super addictive - an excellent meal.

Spring rolls Incredible, not greasy, perfect!.....main meal review to come... Missus didn't wash the cutlery so just had the chicken balls and rice with sweet n sour sauce. Was lush. I'm sure the bbq duck woulda been good if I'd had clean cutlery. Well let's find out what it's like for brekkie! Let you know what hungover me thinks! To be continued........

Best Chinese takeaway in a 5 mile radius, don't go anywhere else. It is cash only though, no cards accepted.

We ordered a takeaway from here. The food was pretty good, portion sizes were generous and it was nice and busy which is always a good sign. I thought it was good value for the money it cost.

Great takeaway lovely food not the cheapest around and a pain as will not take cards got out of the habit of cash though the COVID period means stopping at a cash point on route. Still lovely food and easy parking outside shop.

My favourite place for a takeaway. We often buy this for our monthly club lunch & never had anything wrong - be it Chinese or English. The English part is very cheap and although the Chinese has risen in price (where hasn't?) l would carry on coming here.

Had funny taste to chicken balls chips tasted like they had been cooked already before order so was dry normally my go to place will be looking for other places

Have had some excellent meals here over the years & this was first time all the purchased meals were really lacklustre, bland & not worth it - maybe just a bad day? Don't really know...

This take away restaurant is excellent. They are very efficient preparing your order, the food is tasty and the portions are plentiful. The only inconvenience is they do not accept card payments, however apart from this they are superior to other take away restaurants in the area.

Wouldn't go anywhere else and haven't for the past 15 years. Definitely the best Chinese around and never disappointed.

Been using the New Golden lead for nigh since 1987 before the regeneration of the precinct. It was then the best Chinese take away in the area. Disappointingly it's now churning out heavily salted food with handfuls of what tastes like Mono sodium glutamate chucked in Obviously over time personnel change but the quality seems to to off the mark. Disappointing now but sadly won't be going back Living on past glories I think Drop the additives and get the real flavours back please

Used the Golden Leaf for the first time tonight after it was recommended. Really pleased with the portion sizes and what we ordered was really tasty. Will be using this Chinese again soon.

We had 13 people round on New Years Eve for a take away and decided to get it from here. Had not been here for about 8 years after moving house! They were open during the day 12pm-2pm so I was able to go into the shop and pre order and pay for our food to collect later at 5pm. The lady was great and triple checked everything was correct. No issue with any food missing etc. All our guests said it was lovely and big portion sizes too. Will def be returning. Thank you!

This was a very delicious meal. The prawns were the best I ever had with crispy water chestnuts and bamboo shoots. Others said the chicken was delicious. They were very kind in recooking without msg. Remember to order food without msg. I do wish they had tofu options. Very clean.

I have not eaten from this incredible Chinese takeaway for more than a decade but still when I thought of the chips, chicken and BBQ sauce I am convinced that I have not enjoyed a single meal from a Chinese since. So after paying a visit down this neck of the woods I decided I would take the opportunity. The food was incredible it felt like I'd gone in a time warp back 12 years. The chips, chicken and BBQ sauce were great quality and price aswell. It cost me less than £5 and yet the chicken had so much meat. I am and always will be a massive fan of Ted.... he is a culinary genius and so are his family. Great job.

Was recommended by a friend and the fact the place was busy and the phone didn’t stop ringing was a great sign. Short wait for food but well worth it. Nice you could see all the staff in the kitchen who were very busy. Good also to see the five star food safety award. Food was fresh and very tasty (unlike our usual local). A bit of a drive for us but well worth it.

Really not good. I’m not picky when it comes to Chinese, but this was unacceptable. Dry, tasteless, very expensive, none of us ate even half of our dish. Don’t take card, hands down the worst Chinese I’ve ever been to, and I’ve had many Chinese’s! Only reason it got 1 Star is because it wouldn’t let me give it none...

I have always enjoyed the meals from here, and the food is excellent and reasonable price.

Very average..if not below average with regards to the quality of food. Singapore noodles were utterly tasteless and looked terrible..no colour or smell. Plain rice was dry clumpy and also tasteless. Crispy shredded beef was okay, as was the Hong Kong style sweet and sour chicken, but you could tell that it was full of msg and/or artificial flavours. The king prawns in batter were again ok at best..but all in all very under whelming, generally tasteless, full of grease and artificial flavours and just not very good. The location was in the middle of a council estate, had to wait 30mins for the food when I got there despite being told it would be ready in 10mins after calling to order. felt a bit like being an animal on a farm waiting in line for my turn to eat from the trough. Will not be going there again..ever, and would strongly advise against going..unless you're into cheap tasteless overcooked rubbish sold disguised as Chinese food.

Good Duck pancakes. Chicken with cashews and chilli sauce was inedible. Satay chicken was creamy and bland.

Best Chinese on the planet ted is god and has been since I was young, friendly staff food is good not as greasy as some chinese restaurants and is 2 mins down the road from us, only downside is that they do not deliver they would make a killin.

This is by far the best Chinese takeaway in the area, always busy. Good flavor to meals and reasonable quantity. Somehow they normally manage to get the meals out in about 10 minutes, so you don't have to wait long!

Excellent value for money, Prawn balls(12 of the biggest I have seen) & pancake roll will feed 2 people.
