Went here when I was starving after watching Alty FC,got my self fish and chips crossed the road to the Market tavern pub, got myself a nice pint and sat outside in the sunshine with my pint and fish and chips and I am happy to report that the fish and chips were excellent, really tasty .Top Chippy.

First time ordering from The Don through Delivaroo. I was very disappointed.☹️ The chips were very nice, real chippy chips. However......the sausage had no taste at all. It tasted like it had been boiled as it was solid and rubbery. (Nevermind I said I have the fishcake.) OMG it was so overcooked, tuff around the edges. I made a chip buttey and then everything else was chucked in the bin. What a waste of my money and food. I called the chippie ( this has to be some mistake surely I said to myself???) The lady was nice who I spoke to ( no name provided) she was apologetic and it was mentioned the manager would call me. Needless to say the call never happened!! The name of this chippy is The New Don. Formely known as The Don. There is nothing new about this chippy. It should have been named Take a chance at The Don. Mr Manager your business will go bust quick time if you do not care about your customers!!

Lovely fresh fish and a good size. We drive to this chippy just for the fish.

Chips were horrible, the meat and potato pie was stale and rank , would not go back, sorry it was Wednesday just before 12 , £5.20 if I remember right, nothing fake I’m sorry was truly dissatisfied didn’t eat it!!!

Came all the way from sydney for this, fish was fresh and they managed to fry it without making the meat dry. Chips was nice and the portion was insane. Would say they do a much better job then ppl at the sydney fish market. Staff was insanely friendly and we had a great chat, highly recommend this place🤟🏿BEST fish and chips in town for sure!

I’ve written a few reviews here recently but for some reason, they haven’t been uploaded! Having been a regular customer at Navigation Fish Bar for multiple years, they have since changed owners and the quality is diabolical. I decided to come to the New Don Chippy and so glad I did! The service is exceptional and so friendly. As for the food and portion sizes…. WOW! There’s no comparison. Absolutely love everything about this place. I will never look back ! So easy, efficient and well priced! Thank you all !

We've had meals delivered the last 2 Fridays for a Friday treat building on a site. Both have been amazing but today's mixed kebab was the best one I've ever had, incredible food.

Called in for chips. Very disappointed. Asked for a regular portion, given and charged for a large portion. Food was hot but chips were too dry for chippy chips and had clearly been refried. Cash only sign by the till should have been a warning!

First visit in 3 years at this very long established chippy and was very pleased with the excellent quality of fresh food. Perfect chips: slight crispiness outside with delicious softness. Interesting mild curry and tasty peas. Spotlessly clean premises and friendly helpful service. Can highly recommend a visit for Great British Traditional Food.

29 members of Altrincham Methodist Church gathered for a lunch supplied by the New Don on Sat 4th March 2023. The quality of the fish and chips, service from the staff and value for money were excellent and we would recommend the New Don very highly

Overbearing woman spoke to assistant like rubbish ordered a sausage dinner sausage chips peas and gravy asked for the peas and gravy separate she said no it’s only a special offer as it has to be all together at around £5.00 didn’t seem that cheap what do the tubs cost about 2p each got home to find a tiny amount of gravy and peas didn’t even cover the chips with gravy not edible just dry only waited about 30 minutes service so slow don’t go near the place asked for cone of chips no cone about 10 chips wrapped in paper £1.50 joke

Great service and staff and always good food I use this place atleast 5 or 6 times a month its clean and tidy I wouldn't use it if it wasn't consistent in the service and food 10 stars

Slow service considering we didn't order much and they weren't busy. Chips tasted like they had been refried. Bit disappointing given it's always been alright every other time. Possibly they were winding down to closing time?

Sometimes you need a naughty lunch and this place always satisfies the craving. Even go for a burger some days and all affordable for 4 quid chips and drink.

I called in last night and Eddie (the owner) was talking about how much better his Zinger Burger was than KFC. Being a fan of KFC I thought I'd put his claim to the test ..... I can honestly say that it was indeed better than KFC. At only £4.00 it comes with Two Slices of Cheese and also a delicious hash brown (like a Zinger Tower Burger) With onions, lettuce mayo on chilli sauce. You also get chips and a cold can of your choice. It was delicious, so tender and juicy .... Way better than KFC, try one, you want be disappointed !!

Great food, great people, just what you want in a chippy

Ive been going here a few weeks on friday lunch times and I've been very impressed. Despite being busy the service is fast and accurate, and friendly too. Food is very nice, and IMO better than other takeaways in the area. The double cheeseburger was especially tasty.

A different experience than it was 55 years years ago, then it was good now I'm pleased to say it was excellent, I only had a battered fish but I believe it was the best I've ever had.... Many many thanks.... Definitely recommend even though its approximately 90miles from where I live... Going to Manchester Airport is a convenient excuse.

Not even worthy of a star. Absolutley terrible food. Worst chips iv ever had. Sausage was over cooked and dry and the gravy was like water. Wont be returning here again. Genuinley terrible

on my way home from work, late in the evenings, normally get 'a small cone of chips' but this member of staff decides to increase the amount I should pay after my order was agreed and made up! outrageous!

Not been to the Don for years but went last night and had the BEST fish, chips an mushy peas that I have had for years. This has to be the best chippy in Altrincham. Fish cooked to order, beautifully fresh and lovely batter. Chips and peas were very tasty. Give them a try and you won't regret it.

Popped in for the first time in years last night and had the best fish, chips and peas I have had for years. This is now the only chippy I'll be going to in the future. Like the cardboard boxes as well instead of the horrible plastic trays that make all your food all sweaty. Try it out and you won't regret going

This was a favourite with my husband when he lived in Altrincham some years ago but he was very disappointed by the poor quality of the fish and chips which were slimy and really unpleasant.

Bit of a landmark in the area, been here for years under a few owners I believe. Can't fault it really, been here loads of times and never an issue. Prices and menu are about standard, they usually cook the fish to order, staff always been friendly enough when I've been there. Can't say it's amazing, just a decent local chippy that I'd always return to with parking usually outside.

Always go here. He cooks my lightly battered fish really well. My boys have the chicken nuggets, the chips are well cooked, and really nice. Very friendly staff, easy parking

He comido desde este Llevar en varias ocasiones recientemente y Alucino consistente por la calidad de su comida. Hacen un especial para almorzar de pescado, patatas fritas y Guisantes por £4.50 , es tan sabroso, el pescado es cocinado a la perfección, las patatas fritas son deliciosos (no se quema o grasiento). Sus tartas caseras son siempre frescos, no duro como en algunas tiendas de chocolate. Tienen una gran variedad de pinchos y su Donner carne es de muy alta calidad. Pruébalo, no te defraudará!!

Stopped here for fish and chips last night, fish cooked to order so expecting decent fresh meal, the fish was broken up and full of fat, he did offerto cook another but I did not have time to stop, it was wrapped and put in a tray, on eating it found it was full of fat, chips bitty and green, left it , will not buy from there again, the staff/owners did not seem to have any customers skills and it was in such contrast to the chippy that was there previously, disgusting, they won't be there for long if they don't sort it out..

Horrible good chips are always greasy and soggy and always burnt staff are very aggressive and rude would never use again because was spoken to disgracefully by the rude man behind the counter who threw my money at me because I asked for another portion of chips that weren't burnt DO NOT USE THIS CHIPPY vile horrible place

The chips are of a good quality, but there are quite a few bitty and green chips. The price isn't too bad, better than some places. They do good kebabs, and they do ok children's meals

I've been here a few times now , just for takeaway lunch, and the staff have always been friendly, food lovely and at a very reasonable price! The chippy is well situated for Altrincham centre, and I've got to say that it has always been immaculately clean when I've been in, and I would definitely recommend if you are in or visiting the Altrincham area!
