Haven't been in years but welcome atmosphere

Food nice , although sunday dinner not the best , staff welcoming and kind and good bar . Update . Went again 20 aug . Very nice food , nice staff once again . Soup , chicken wings , Marconi cheese was delicious !

The children's party's are just the best at The New Crown, great staff go above and beyond, excellent entertainment, children are entertained from start to finish, Thank You to all involved, it was a great day 🥳

Attended the Dance Party on Saturday 17th August and have to say the team done amazing, in this current climate it was great that the pub put this whole afternoon on for free, there was face painting, bouncy castle, games, pizza making, dressed up characters and great prizes! I brought my 3 year old granddaughter and 15 year old disabled great-nephew, the entertainment team were fab with both, aswell as all the other kids! A massive well done to Grace and her team, u’s definitely pulled it out the bag

Attended a family birthday celebration last night. Booked tables in advance with ease, ordered food which was all lovely and very reasonably priced. Staff very polite and the pub had a great atmosphere. Special thanks to Meg for arranging this who was helpful as always, she checked to see that everyone was enjoying themselves and had what we needed etc 😊

Great atmosphere attention to detail and super friendly staff who are so helpful and nothing is a problem to them entertained our little one whilst waiting for his meal fabulous views and staff making this a pleasure experience and value for money with panoramic views will be back soon

I found the QR code website ‘order at table’ hopeless. I went to the bar and ordered there instead, as I was unable to view my basket and tried again; but there was just a total with double the items! It didn’t work with one of the bar staff trying - so our food was ordered at the till. Their card reader wouldn’t read my card in my Apple Wallet, so I used my debit card. We got our food relatively quickly. The steak was surprisingly good and the salad okay. The Jam Rolly Poly is bit small for £4.99, but hits the spot! Coffee is not bad - but the black is awful: like dishwater! Ladies toilets are terrible - no ventilation: the floor is damp with condensation. The sink overflows are all dirty with black mould. The main toilet door desperately needs painting. The toilet seats are all loose! Cigarette bins outside are over flowing and there’s broken glass in the car park…

It’s ok. Never changed over the years . Hand dryers don’t work in the Gents Toilets . Not great.

Me and my family went in on Sunday to watch the England game. My mam was with us who isn't great on her feet. I asked staff if they had and spare seats, not only did they bring seats but they brought a table out so 8 of us all got to sit. Can't thank you enough for your hospitality especially as you were all so busy. Thanks again James.

The online order/menu was difficult to use because the search function was bugged and disappearing when clicked, and 3-4 meals we wanted weren't available (that may have been because they have a reduced menu on a Sunday as they do a Sunday roast, but that was unclear at the time). The food itself was very nice, worth the money. The desserts especially were very nice. The staff were polite if not a little distracted. Designated drivers beware, £3.70 for a soft drink is a little steep.

Inflated prices and shrinking portions. Disappointed that one of our favourite places to eat has decided to increase prices and shrink portions. Had a "light bite" and although I don't eat much I was taken aback by how much the portions had shrunk and the price had increased. The daily offers no long exist on the menu either.

Booked a table prior to our visit as there were 7 of us, including a 3 year old. Menu has all the classics for pub grub. I wasn't particularly hungry so ordered from the children's menu which was good as I hate food waste. All the meals looked very appetizing. My meal I'd asked for fries but they brought chips (probably hubby's,fault) When my daughter mentioned it to the very pleasant waitress she immediately went and brought fries The chips were shared between the men so they were happy. Lovely relaxing family meal , will certainly visit again when visiting South Shields

Popped in for a drink after a meal tonight and had a lovely time. The bar staff were really friendly and chatty and the atmosphere was great. Quick service.

Went in with a friend for a spot of dinner, food was delicious and very well priced for the large portion size we got, good atmosphere and attentive service, I’m fussy and asked for a few things to be removed before cooking and it was all spot on. Quick service, I expected to wait longer than we did.

Lucy was very attentive with our order and checked several times on if the food was acceptable. She never stopped the whole time we were in the pub. We are here 3 or 4 times per week and all staff are always great.

Staff very friendly and good with the kids. Love that dogs are allowed in. Put candles in my sons dessert and sang happy birthday to him. He was delighted!!!!!

Meg was our server and she was fab, she was so friendly and helpful from the minute we walked in. We had the chicken kebab and it was gorgeous.

First time I've been here, food was very good,I would definitely be going back.

I ordered the lasagne which was lovely, but unfortunately the salad was horrible + the garlic bread was burnt. So overall I would not recommend this establishment although on a positive the staff were lovely.

This was the first time I have ordered food here, I ordered hunters chicken the chicken was hard or was overcooked, the rocket was slimy, chips were fine. I would never order food or recommend food from here again. My friend ordered lasagne her salad was absolutely disgusting slimy and her garlic bread was burnt to a crisp. 2 very disappointed customers 😡

I had my 60th birthday here. The food was excellent, lots of it and beautifully arranged. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I would strongly recommend this place for any occasion.

Best sea front pub and eatery on the beautiful South Shields coast-line. Lucy as always was the best hostess in serving our scran and drinks. She enquired about how our meal was and as per we replied positively as it was lush.

Lucy is a fab member of staff and very friendly and attentive as is the lovely lad with his hair in a pony tail who is THE BEST table cleaner and glass collector in the business. The New Crown has turned in to a really popular pub with a great atmosphere and lovely staff.

After a coastal walk, myself and partner came in for shelter, warmth and hydration. As soon as we came in we were greeted by the the most wonderful and sweetest barmaid - Lucy. She was full of smiles and joy, carefully asking our order and paid attention to our requirements. Lucy’s customer service was excellent and engaging. A wonderful experience and young girl to had met this evening. We will definitely be back.

Lovely staff excellent food, staff member Kaitlin /Caitlin was more than helpful assisted us by the table as we were eating so we didn’t need to disturb our date, went above and beyond to bring out a sharing plate for us both to pick at with extra plates for less mess, was honestly perfect couldn’t fault it and she is constantly checking on customers and cleaning round Made the evening extra perfect without even realising

Large, nicely decorated room with various places to sit. Many with nice views of the sea and the park. Pub menu. Several beers on tap. Friendly staff. Good coffee. Screens showing sports.

Been a few times. Been on Steak nights etc. But last night popped in with friends for a bite to eat. 4 meals. Scampi, Lasagne, Hunters Chicken and Steak and Ale pie. The Hunters Chicken on my friends plate looked very dry and over cooked. My wife's Beef lasagne was overcooked, pasta sheets were very dry, salad was soggy. My friends wife had Scampi but left about 6 pieces, she just didn't enjoy it, watery Scampi, poor quality. I had Steak and Ale pie which was just OK, nothing special. Hope this helps with the future of meals going forward. Regards Arthur

A party of 6 of us dine out every Thursday. We look for somewhere new and travel. On entering at 12:45 we thought “lovely it’s nice and warm”. These days that’s not always the case. We should have realised at that point and taken the hint to make a swift exit. It was deserted which is why I rated atmosphere so low. We ordered a variety of meals. The gammon was ok but the rest of the meals were poor. The steak pie was tasty but consisted of pastry and gravy. There were just a few minuscule pieces of steak. The lite bite was a lot smaller than expected. Having read the positive reviews I can only conclude that evenings are the best choice. Lunchtimes are to be avoided. It certainly gets written off our location list.

Well Served by Lucy. Had beef dinner - couldn’t taste any horseradish in the sauce and too much broccoli. Maybe two stuffing balls per portion would be better. But overall it was a good dinner.

We’ve been coming to The New Crown for a while now and the service and atmosphere is second to none. Lucy usually serves us, a lovely girl who always has a smile on her face and who is always up for a laugh.

Fantastic experience from start to finish! Made much more enjoyable by Lucy who had a brilliant knowledge of all the draft beers available. Could not speak more highly of her!!! She’s a keeper x
