The Neville Arms in Rushcliffe

On arrival the pub was empty (1pm) Sunday lunch, no warm welcome. We ordered our Sunday lunch which came very quickly I suspect pre plated like warm food and jug of nuclear hot gravy. Small portion minimal veg and no mash as advertised. We asked for a side of stuffing but they had none, we got 2 carrots and 2 roast potatoes on the plate, then 10 min later we got a bowl of boiled cabbage and more boiled carrots. Very basic food we didn’t stay for pudding.

We came here for the first time as a family for fathers day. How disappointing it was. When entering the restaurant there was no smiles/warm welcome, so our first impression did not feel good. The restaurant wasn't busy but had to wait a while for the waitress to come and take our food order. When our food came we wasn't asked by the waitress at all how our food was on both our starters and mains. Mushroom soup was bland, thick and powdery. Chicken fillet, roast potatoes were dry. The waitress didn't ask us if there was anything else we would like. We had to ask for more gravy and salt. We also had to ask for more drinks. They couldn't even get my sons latte right, It came without milk, my son said this wasn't what he asked for and the waitress was rude with her reply so he cancelled it. I made a complaint about the bill because we were still charged for the soups that wasn't eaten [I would like to say a young waiter was polite and sorted out our complaint, but we still had to pay for one of the soups because it was half eaten, we didn't pay for the service charge}. The restaurant is a lovely place in the country side but unfortunately disappointed with the overall service and food. Such a shame.

The food and drinks were amazing and the service was warm and friendly, the restaurant and the pub itself was very clean. My wife got the wrong meat but they were very kind and brought her a brand new dish. The staff were so friendly we really enjoyed it and we will be coming back!

We recently visited this lovely little place for the fixed three course lunch menu. As a large group (14 adults) who's original booking elsewhere was cancelled with almost no notice this wonderful pub stepped up and saved the day for our lunch plans. They gave us a wonderful area to sit with plenty of space. The fixed lunch time menu was an absolute bargain (£11 for two course or £15 for three) and was clearly designed to offer quality and carefully crafted food in mind. There were three possible options for each course which allowed the chef to really make the meals special and there was something for everyone's tastes. The service staff were great really friendly, efficient, and accomodating - nothing seemed too much trouble for them. I think if you're looking for a peaceful country pub with high quality food at great prices I would sincerely recommend this venue. Very warm and inviting atmosphere and a lovely experience.

A very fortuitous find for Sunday Lunch. We were looking for somewhere different within 30 minutes of Nottingham. How my wife stumbled across the Neville I will never know but it was faultless. Not quite ready when we arrived a little early we were brilliantly dealt with. A drink sorted (Timothy Taylor, brilliant). We were seated and looked after, the barman recommended our meals and they could not have been better. The first review I’ve left in many a year but the Nevile is a must visit. I only wish it could be transported to my home village.

Lovely Sunday lunch for the extended family - nothing too much trouble - great service and the food was sublime. Obviously had a busy weekend as they had ran out of cask ale but the lager offered was pretty good.

We used to love the food and service here, so decided to book in for Saturday night with friends. The pub was pretty empty, only 3 tables full in the restaurant and we were shown to our table. The staff were all new and they definitely need some more training as they didn't know the menu, or the drinks on draft (Manager: Just write it on the back of your order pad to help them out a little) No wine menu or drinks menu on the tables so the waitress came and we ordered drinks. They came promptly although they had no Sauv Blanc... This is pretty much a must for a pub serving food as many people drink it, but hey, we moved onto the starters. Starters were nice. One of the party ordered the languistine which came out with no finger bowl. The bowl then arrives with scalding hot water so we had to decant it into the shell bowl and pour in the table water to cool it down. We were offered bread which we all had but we're given two slices of rock hard butter for the whole table. We asked 3 extra times for more butter and they came out 3 separate times with a thimble of butter which made us all laugh. The mains came but all one by one, and the table service was sloppy, leaning over people to place plates down, putting them in wrong places. We also didn't have any cutlery until all. 4 plates had come out and then there was no real urgency so left waiting. The food was the saving grace here, lamb was excellent and chicken was really nice too. The food has always been good here however the service has gone down hill. The above are all simple things that can be fixed with training and attention to detail which you used to have as a pub/restaurant. Put some love back into the Neville Arms

We read a social media posting which told us that, after some difficulties, the new-ish Nevile management think they have got their act together, and they hope they can now win local customers back. So we gave the Nevile another try. They're right! They now have a really top-class chef, and we had a great evening. The only downside was that there weren't many people there. So come on Kinoulton, give the Nevile a chance, use it or lose it!

Food was of a reasonable standard , starters very small in size, the pub is a pretty place but lacked atmosphere it needs a good front of house person Staff training definite ly needed! Asked six times if everything was alright I won't list the other mistakes but it needs to be more polished Would I try again? Not sure as this stage !

This is our first visit for Sunday lunch having heard how good it is and it didn't disappoint. The service was excellent and so was the food-the beef was delicious. We will definitely be back soon.

we had another truly amazing meal at The Nevile Arms today. Thankyou Michelle Guildford and Darren Gilly Guildford and as stated on the fb page it really is worth the journey ❤️ had a lovely time with friends in this cozy, friendly pub with great staff and ate one of the best Sunday roasts which had tasty roast potatoes, mash, tender roast beef,lots of vegetables a huge Yorkshire pudding and lots of lovely gravy thanks to Michelle bringing out a big gravy boat of extra gravy and then finished off with a delicious dessert after of lemon and orange eton mess which i would definitely go back just for that. Our friends hadn’t been before and they absolutely loved it ! They’ll definitely be returning with their family 10/10 x

Wow what an awesome Sunday lunch. I am very fussy about the quality of meat and choices of veg and boy this was outstanding! The dessert was delicious too. The service was first class, courteous and polite . The decor and surroundings beautifully done , even the ladies toilet ! So pretty ! We can’t wait to visit again - it was well worth the 30 minute drive and locals who have this on their doorstep should take heed …… use it or lose it !

Stumbled across this pub purely by chance. Decided to pop in just for a quick rest/drink and it was just so friendly and cosy that we ended staying for dinner! (And a few drinks!!) One of the most relaxing, welcoming pubs I’ve ever been to. The owners and staff were so friendly, we felt we had known them for years by the time we left! If ever we are in the area again, we wouldn’t hesitate to visit this pub as the food and the whole atmosphere is absolutely perfect!! Thank you all for such a lovely, unplanned afternoon! I would highly recommended the steak night. Fabulous steak with a side of garlic mushrooms which were to die for. Excellent service, nothing was too much trouble. Really good value. The background music was just right, which all added to a lovely evening.

We ate an amazing Sat evening meal in the snug. Our dog was welcomed too. We all loved our starters and mains and one person even managed the delicious rice pud for desert. We had another excellent Sunday Lunch yesterday at the Nevile Arms. The Staff were friendly and really attentive. My husbands favourite meal ‘in the world’ is their Lentil Roast and his first choice whenever we have Sunday lunch out. The chef had made a selection of homemade breads to nibble on. There was a great choice of starters and desserts, we had a cheese board which was delicious. The figs were a great addition. Everything on the Menu was great value too. We will certainly be returning.

This really is the best Sunday Roast in the Vale!
