Ci tornerei volentieri. Complimenti!

First time I’ve been here in a while. I always think this is a quirky little hotel, if steps are an issue this one isn’t for you but if not it’s perfectly suitable. Food was excellent as it always has been previously positions were not large but are perfectly adequate. Bed was perfect and I slept fantastic and had a fantastic shower, apart from the squeaky and not particularly level floors due to the buildings age the decoration etc are absolutely fine. It was clean and has had decorative work done to keep it up. Good job everyone. Happily return again.

Very nice, friendly family run hotel in Wick. Room was clean a good size. Good pub on the ground floor. We had drinks and dinner there, and a friendly crowd. Food was very good. Breakfast was good as well. I had the smoked haddock and it was hanging off both sides of the plate !! As mentioned by a previous guest, nobody asked to see a credit card on arrival. A very pleasant stay.

Stopped for 2 nights whilst doing the NC500 A very clean hotel, we ate in one night & had lasagne the next night we ate out. We had fresh towels on the second day even though we hadn’t asked for them, I had toast for breakfast & my husband had porridge, there is full Scottish on offer & plenty of cereal & fruit. The shower is very powerful. There is free parking over the road from the hotel.

We stayed here recently on our NC500 trip and was very happy with the hotel. We received a warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our rooms which were spacious, very clean and nice and quiet. There was tea and coffee making facilities and very good WiFi. We ate in the hotel that night and the food was good, it was plentiful, well presented and delicious as was the breakfast the following morning. The hotel has a bar which is really nice and the locals were very friendly and made you feel welcome. There is free parking right across the road from the hotel which was very handy. Also the hotel has lovely gardens at the rear and a path that leads into town. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again if the need arose.

This pub hotel was in a good location. We were made to feel welcome on arrival and had an excellent dinner with good choices. The room was quite large and had everything we needed. A small but very welcoming place to visit. The landlord and landlady always with a smile and always happy to help. Our order was promptly taken and the food delivered quickly. The food was just perfect. Not only perfectly cooked but it tasted great and there was good portions provided. Tea was provided with a couple of pieces of beautiful home made shortbread and I opted to have a cheeky wee dram afterwards too. The owner Mervin was happy to provide details of a few different whisky's from the array of splendid and exciting drams available. I opted for the Malt of the Month, which was the Aberlour single malt. Absolute bargain! The popularity of the family run establishment is very clear and you can see how the owners are held in high esteem by the locals. The family are very supportive of the locals and local causes and this obviously pays dividends from the regular events held at the hotel. I believe we missed out on a splendid Ceilidh dance but we did manage to fare well in a fun quiz night, The hotel also has magnificent facilities including a smokie hut for BBQs which I am told by locals is an excellent new addition to the hotel and the gardens are simply a stunning setting for an afternoon tea or refreshing pint or two. This was our first visit but will not be our last.

I stayed here for two nights as I was working in Wick. I arrived late evening to a warm welcome and was quickly shown to my room. Bedroom 4, very spacious and warm. Good sized bathroom, decent wardrobe and drawers for my stuff. My only criticisms? I’d add some softer lighting, perhaps a table lamp or two and there is a huge gap under the main door which lets in loads of light! I had to block it off with a pillow!!! ( I am a light sleeper though!).Breakfast was very good - you must try the fruit salad! I ordered poached eggs on toast and they were cooked perfectly. Bedroom was refreshed during the day with new tea and coffee and towels replaced. They also put in shampoo and shower gel with little individual soaps. Despite negative comments on here, I found a good Wifi reception In the bedroom. No issues for me.Day 1 evening meal- I ate in the bar. Bit busy as the football was on but I got a table without issue. Tried the cottage pie followed by cheesecake. Both were perfectly acceptable. Not first class but kept me happy. Day 2 breakfast and I went for the fried! Again, very good and very well presented.I must add a thank you to the young lady who works in the restaurant in the mornings - she was first class and nothing was too much trouble for her. Very good service and always a smile. There are two local car parks which are free. Very handy location and close to the centre. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel - dated but I think that’s part of the charm. Very homely feel to it. Staff are extremely pleasant and easy to talk to. I’d happily recommend this hotel and, being a seasoned motorcyclist, this would be ideal for anyone on the NC500.

Breakfast was freshly cooked to order fresh toast and coffee. Everyone was more than friendly and nothing was a bother. Very poor experience to the point we would never consider a meal at this 'restaurant' again. Vegetarian dish was served as a vegetable pasta bake which was a very small portion served in a desert bowl (meant to be a main course). Could make better myself at home. Beef curry was awful - served as beef meatballs in a curry sauce, looked like it was thrown together. My husband actually choked on it it was that dry. Unfriendly service overall - would avoid at all costs, Don't waste your money.

This hotel has 2 entrances. If you arrive by car (2 free parking areas) next to hotel, you may find the entrance a bit dull. Once at reception, this is a classic interior to be kept. It feels like going back in time. Service is very friendly. Rooms are compact and equipped with WiFi. On the ground floor is a (hidden) pub. We called in at this hotel for dinner on a Saturday night, having stayed at the hotel previously. The food is adequate, and the steaks are probably the safest dish to go for, as I have not experienced a poor steak at this hotel yet. The green vegetables were a bit on the sparse side, and the wines by the glass very limited, and so it best probably best to stick with local (well Orkney) beers, or similar. The value is very reasonable. The service is average, and if they are busy, it can be a bit on the slow side. There are better places to eat in Wick, but you will probably pay a lot more.

Before I start, the hotel was adequate, the room ok, the service fine and the food reasonably nice, but five days after staying there I am still awake at night trying not to scratch the nearly 100 beg bug bites I have all over my body. I was prepared to let it go (After all it's not their fault if they get an infestation) but having read up on the life cycle of bed bugs (Last night while laying awake again) I can confirm that the bugs I saw were definitely Adult bed bugs and it appears that they need to feed numerous times to get to be adults so this must be an ongoing issue. By all means stay there but check that they have actually done something about it, or suffer the consequences.

The NetherCliffe Hotel has a lot of local history within Wick. The rooms were nice, the bathrooms definitely updated in the last couple of years and very spacious. We could not access the Wi-Fi from our room and had to go down to the common room. All of the staff were friendly and for the majority the place is family run. The meals were good, nothing to rave about. The dining room was filled up though with guests and locals. Service didn't really run smoothly for dinner but there was only one person (likely their teenage son) waiting the tables in the dining room.

I arrived here late, in the dark and pouring with rain. The entrance didn't do much to lift the gloom, there was a shivering huddle of smokers stood with their cigarettes on the doorstep. So after fighting my way through clouds of smoke I made my way to reception where I rang the bell. I was met by a very friendly owner, she made me feel really welcome and after a short conversation about how far I'd driven and where I was working she must have seen i was tired so she kindly upgraded me to a double room. The room is lovely, clean, warm and very comfortable. The big bed with soft and fluffy white bedding looked very welcoming, the furniture is of a high standard and is good quality. As of most hotels but not all it has a large flat screen wall mounted TV with freeview. But best of all is the en suite which is large and sparkling, you could hold a party in the shower. It's the walk in type and has a abundance of hot water, so after the long day I'd had it was a god sent, I must have spent half a hour just stood under the jets of relaxing got water. The towels are plentiful and large ish and there a good selection of soaps, shower gels and shampoos. The only thing the bathroom needs is a blind at the widow. So if you ever in this neck of the woods do yourself a favour and book a room at this little gem, you like me won't be disappointed.
