One of the best places in St Ives to have a drink and a dance to some good music on a Sunday afternoon !

A great little pub with a superb variety of beer.

I haven't been in there for 37 years as i moved away, but its still as good as i remember.

Last time i was in the nags head was about 1983 had to go in for old times sake was not disappointed still good beer .but bar staff a lot younger

Popped in on Saturday for a few drinks and returned Sunday where a band was there making it very busy and music not to our liking,staff friendly and accommodating but just not for us

Saw a punk band here, it was rammed but no one cared, the bar staff did a sterling job in keeping us all refreshed

Lovely atmosphere, friendly locals and great beer. The pub has a cosy indoors and modern outdoor area. If you are in town this is the pub to go to.

After a disappointing try at another pub in the town, we came across the Lord Nelson., proper beer and wine, and a relaxed lunch.

Went in with a local for a few beers, great atmosphere! Everyone friendly, and love the involvement of "shut the door"! As well as take your glasses back to the bar

Popped in at lunch for a bit of much needed liquid refreshment on a hot day. Friendly welcome from barstaff, nice garden to sit in and the toasties were lush - served with a nice salad too. Food menu was limited but ended up meeting our needs just fine.

This is a great traditional pub in the centre of St Ives with a fantastic revampoed garden. Is also nice to have a pub that still has a juke box. Andy does a great job as do all the bar staff Chloe, Connor, Daisy, both Emily, Karolina, Ryan, Suzie who are very efficient and professional. Would recommend a visit.

Fabulous music from The Barefoot Doctors and great, friendly atmosphere. Loved it!

My friend and I visited for 1st time and probably will not be returning!! Was busy Saturday night, but person who served me when I ordered drinks was dismissive and rude!! 😔 We had our drinks and left very quickly. Returned to anything pub in town where we got the best service, was welcomed warmly and then enjoyed rest of our night 😊

Very good service and beer was good

Despite this being market day, the pub is just far enough away to be peaceful although they would probably like it to be busier. My dog and I were very pleased to get out of the chill. I had an excellent burger and Guinness I could probably have settled in for the whole afternoon. Not my 1st visit, I normally drop in when passing through and would recommend others do the same

Great for live music. No sport in the pub which isn’t a bad thing. The bad was great especially as it was an off chance visit whilst I was in the area. Great sandwich shop opposite too.

A friendly, local pub that retains the character of an old school persona without looking tired or dated. It’s difficult to ask for more than reasonably priced drinks, well cared for beers, friendly staff and locals who will have a chat with you while you’re there. Live music every Sunday afternoon is a throwback that everyone else seems to have lost. Yet the size of the crowd that attends it shows how much people appreciate it still.

Second time I’ve been here and there’s always good live music in and a really good atmosphere. Had a good singalong with friends .

Cracking pint of Guinness...rule of thumb is that if the Guinness is good then everything else is.

Range of ales goes from great to disappointing, food ok but bit pricey for what's on offer. Latest opinion £6.50 for a glass of average wine is way over the top, other bars are avaiable.

Great family friendly traditional pub atmosphere, excellent range of drinks and lovely pub food - dogs welcome too! You must try the amazing stone baked pizzas!

Worth a visit. If you want food go elsewhere basically a bloke's pub. Try going when there's music on.

This pub serves good beer but is severely let down by the absolutely disgusting toilets. The smell diffuses out into the pub whenever the door is open.

Fantastic! I don't get to come here often ( and I'm only a 5 minute walk away) but when I do, I love it. If, like me, you enjoy listening to a live band and of a mature age ( I'm 58 ) then this is the place to come. You will not be out of place as the majority punters are of the mature age. It's a friendly pub with a fantastic atmosphere. Live music is twice weekly Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoon. Bar staff are friendly. Highly recommend.

Looking for a pub lunch would recommend trying here ! The staff were all really friendly and attentive the service was fast and of a good standard. We had the chicken burger and the halloumi and chips, both were large portions, and tasted lovely. Overall a nice experience !

Top spot. Ale and food. Plus is totally dog friendly

Good beer, Greene King's Abbot ale and Timothy Taylor's Landlord ale sold there as well a variety other pasteurized beers. All seemed to be well kept and popular. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Great beer, always spot on. Bar staff very friendly and efficient.

Wanna see the football match, great. Wanna grab a pint, fine. Nevertheless, anything else is overpriced and not a great deal. I had the pizza and it was like a 1.65 Tesco pizza. The garden is great, though.

Excellent pub a little expensive but worth it for the ambience

We called in here on two nights for a last drink after meals at local restaurants, to begin with because it was the closest pub to our hotel and the weather was a bit iffy. Having found it to be a nice friendly comfortable pub with a good choice of beers and wines, we called again the following evening.

Lovely local pub with very friendly and helpful staff. Currently coping with Tier 2 restrictions very responsibly and serving stone baked pizzas as a substantial meal. Support this this little gem during these difficult time, it deserves it.

Great pub, amazing Cheesy Chips enjoyed on a Tier 2 tip :-) Fingers crossed it survives the governments arcane and pointless attack on the pub industry.

Lovely pub, nice staff all set in a very oldie pub.

This is a nice little pub to come to for lunch. It is clean and tidy and the staff are friendly and professional. There is a good selection of drink at the bar. Due to the current situation the menu is smaller than usual, but the meal I had was very nice. But it’s not the pub’s fault for the smaller menu. I will come again.

This was only my second visit to The Nelsons Head but I rank it as certainly one of St Ives’ best pubs. Cosy surroundings, conventional pub elements and friendly service. Enjoyed a couple of pints at a good price too.

Known as The nellies to locals its a pub at the heart of the town and love it here.. pandemic measures taken at the moment but still a welcoming atmosphere brilliant 😍

Fantastic drinking hole... been my local for a few years... albeit a good few miles for me to walk to...(well worth it) Out of all the boozers in St.Ives it's far more spit and sawdust with a mindful bunch of fellow drinkers! No trouble..great staff..great booze...great atmosphere 5*

Just off the main square is this pub which was very nice inside with coal fire and friendly welcome. Nice lunch menu options at sensible prices . Music in the background but quite so people actually go there to talk.

I really like this place on a Monday afternoon. Quiet, relaxed, friendly staff, great food and a good selection of beer on draft/tap. The bangers and mash (comes with pease) and a couple of pints will run you £16, but is easily worth £20 or more. The Monday crowd has been light on the two occasions I've been and is perfect for me to sit and write. The space is cozy, but not crowded. And is replete with tables, benches, and bar stools.
