Aromi in Cambridge

The worst dining experience ever! We went as a family of five, each ordering a slice/main, a drink, and dessert. After 30 minutes, while we were still eating, a waiter came and took everything away, making loud, sharp clanking noises right by my 8-year-old daughter’s ear.

Pathetic seating. I've never had a restaurant give me seats right outside the restroom. Horrible.

Service was quite bad, pizza came burnt

Simply loved the pistacchio and almond cake!! The choco lava cake was heaven! Must try! The margherita pizza was basic nothing too special.. also had so less veggie options on the day!

The table was wet and dirty from previous customers, so I asked the staff if they could tidy up the table and I waited for 10+ minutes but they didn’t show up again. I know this place is popular and they are all busy but it would have been better if I could eat my pizza on a clean table.

Always loved a good slice of pizza from Aromi’s and the welcoming atmosphere. However, the new team seems quite inefficient and impatient, especially given the sheer amount of customers attracted. I was demanded to wait outside bluntly, twice. Some extra staff training could help. Hope it gets better :)

It's always super crowded and there is no space. The people before us got a table and we were told takeaways only. And the ones after us got a table because a table got cleared within minutes. Despite being told we can wait for a table for a couple minutes, we were told to wait out it the cold for the order to arrive which took ages. Really poor service

I ordered an item of food where there were plenty on display and no-one in front of me in the queue had ordered. However, after making me wait for 10 minutes, they told me they'd run out meaning they'd likely given it to people who came to the restaurant after I did. Doesn't seem like that was the best choice service-wise...

The Zucca pizza might have been one of the most delicious things I’ve eaten. Really. Great food and friendly atmosphere

We've never been before as put off by the big queues. Today, having decided to see what the queues are all about, we tried it.... Three words: O M and G. The food is mindblowing. Shared a couple of their fresh focaccia sandwiches and a Pistachio-creme-filled croissant. Absolutely unbelievable. I have a new favourite food now 😂 11 out of 10.

Bigger Cafe, Smaller Toilets I went to FitzroyAromi most of the time. Why not try this one as well? Because I always thought it was not a comfortable environment. Looking from outside the tables and seats are so close to each other. Overall it was okay, there are extra tables and seats downstairs too. Everything was clean. It was a surprise that the toilets are much smaller than the Fitzroy Aromi. But still, it got most of the stuff. Coffee and pistachio cake tastes good. It's so nice that Aromi provides more than the Nutella option. Being different is good. Because not everyone prefers caramel flavoured or dessert with icing. But it's not a good place to stay long. As it's a popular cafe without very much social distance between tables.

I was looking for food that I could take on board for a picnic and accidentally came across this restaurant. I accidentally found a restaurant that is highly recommended. The pizza is very delicious and authentic. Even if it gets cold when taken out, it still tastes delicious. I chose a few flavors and they were all very good👍highly recommended. The locals said that I had chosen a great store! There are many flavors. It is said that the tiramisu is also delicious. I didn’t order it this time. I hope I have the opportunity to try it again. There is a toilet downstairs and it is very clean. The store is very popular and often crowded, but it is definitely worth the wait.

I love the service they provide. ,especially the staff were very friendly, especially the guy called Aman Very accommodating and friendly , would really recommend this☺️

Sorry to say but this place first time I eat was ok , but last weekend very bad experience, long queue, 30 minute wait for a slice of pizza and I got it cold

Authentic and cozy atmosphere with hand crafted yummy pizza served. 🍕🥐Amazing pastries and assured freshness. I regularly pop in to the one at Fitzroy street but this was my first time in this branch. They are also open on Boxing day as well which made my day!! I tried Cornetto Pistacchio, was amazing.

Used to love the food here - servings are generous; esp pizzas are very filling. However, I feel that the staff are very over-worked here, it shows with how the service tends to be a downer. They are almost always rude all the time, and looking really unhappy... and I don't blame them !!! For how long the queue is, there seems to be lack of staff to manage the orders, etc.

Decidimos ir a Aromi para nuestra comida anual de Navidad. Llamamos de antemano y nos dijeron que no podíamos reservar y asientos estaba disponible hasta las 10 pm. Después de haber pedido nuestra comida, nos dijeron que teníamos 20 minutos para irnos. La comida llegó y luego tuvimos apenas 10 minutos para comer. Luego nos dijeron cada minuto durante esos 10 minutos que teníamos que irnos. Tuve que explicar que se trataba de una organización benéfica de salud mental y dejar de angustiar a los miembros con los constantes recordatorios y prisas. Una vez que estuvimos afuera, sentaron a otras personas que estaban esperando afuera. Todo era increíblemente confuso y yo mismo había viajado desde Londres para asistir. Había oído cosas buenas sobre Aromi, pero desafortunadamente esta fue una experiencia terrible y arruinó la comida de Navidad para la caridad de salud mental.

Wish I could give you 6 stars for the coffee! And those mini pistachio tartlettes…Eccellente!

I don’t know how the food tastes because it’s been 40 mins since I ordered and only my cocktail is here lol. The servers are rude and lowkey racist towards Asians or South East Asians. Saw them serving to white people with efficiency and smiles and yet every Asian person in this restaurant is sitting with a sad face as they wait to be served. Worst eating experience in Cambridge, should’ve gone to Honest Burgers again lol.

One of the best pizzas I've ever had.

Llegó a las 5: 30 pm con mis dos hijos pequeños y me dijeron que no podía tomar asiento ya que estaban empezando a “cenar bien” a las 6 : 00 pm. El personal me dijo que solo podía hacer comida para llevar, pero no había comida disponible para llevar (solo pasteles) Nunca volverá.

We went in and my wife accidentally hit her card on a contactless tip machine that is placed right by the till. It did have a small sign but think we all know what they are doing with this placement. I would wager good money on the fact that it has been placed right next to the till deliberately as a tactic to trick people. We were told this couldn’t be refunded even though we ended up not eating there. Whilst we were in the shop one person also complained about the food being uneatable. Would probably avoid, especially given all the great restaurants in the city.

Food was good but service was poor. Rude service and asked us to pay whilst we were still eating. We felt rushed and weren’t told that we needed to be out of the restaurant by a certain time. Hadn’t finished our meal and were told to leave.

Highly recommend their parmigiana focaccia and pistachio croissant! Service may be slow for dining in at peak times and it’s hard to find a table. Also be prepared to queue at lunchtimes. Would suggest early weekend morning takeaways (the pastries are warm and fresh out of the oven and no queues!)

Had a slice of margherita pizza and a slice of pistachio cake. The pizza was made from low-quality ingredients and executed poorly. Soggy, greasy and tasting of cheap oil. Worse than pizza hut, no match to proper Italian-style pizzerias. The cake was somewhat bitter and tasted more of walnuts than pistachios. You can get a better cake in most supermarkets. Overall, a very disappointing and annoying experience. Avoid!

Amazing sandwiches and pizza but none are gluten free

Experience: Unfortunately there is always a huge queue here; the service is on the slower side because people who eat in make their orders at the same place as the people who are trying to do takeaway. The staff have to do everything, juggling preparing the food, taking the orders, preparing hot drinks, serving to the people eating in etc. which makes the customer experience a little taxing. I wonder if there’s a smoother way of doing it. Food: Outstanding. I had the piccante pizza slice and the bread was light, fluffy, crunchy on the edges and pillowy in the centre. The toppings were delicious and tasted fresh. For the price (around £7), it’s very reasonable. My only criticism is the packaging - it’s given to you in a paper bag, so it’ll sweat a little if you’re not planning to eat it immediately, a box may have worked a little better but I assume most people eat theirs straight away. Regardless of this, a beautiful pizza slice that I would happily get again and again. I also bought a chocolate cornetto (croissant), which was also incredible. It was stuffed to the brim with a delicious hazelnut spread and the pastry was soft and/or crunchy in the right areas and not overly flakey. Another item I’d happily buy again. Overall: It feels harsh to take a star away for the long queues but it’s the only significant thing taking away from an otherwise superb experience.

I am a regular at Aromi as I work opposite and pop in for a regular cappuccino and arancini. I ADORE Aromi. I first visited the venue in Catania, Sicily and my love affair has continued. Everyone is so friendly and the food and drinks are exceptional. Aromi has been a fabulous addition to the Cambridge food scene and I have loved seeing it go for strength to strength. Grazie mille per tutti Aromi!!

We were there at 5:30 p.m. and there wasn't much food left. We got pizza, which was okay, but we were supposed to leave at 5:45 p.m., which I didn't like. Positive: Clean toilets.

I am Korean. This is my favorite bakery. Chocolate-filled croissants If you like chocolate, be sure to try it. It's like the taste of heaven. I eat it sometimes because it's so evil... There's a pizza with Mahagrita cheese on top and it's really delicious. However, I tried eating it at the store and taking it out, but when I ate it at the store, the quality of the knife was not good. I think the temperature of the oven was too high that day, as it seemed to be slightly overcooked when it was heated. It was really, really delicious when I ate it packaged. The price is cheap and the portion size is large enough for two people to share. The price and taste are both good. I confidently recommend this restaurant as a must-eat when you come to Cambridge. Take it out and eat it while sitting in the square 👍🏻👍🏻

My wife and I visited Aromi in Cambridge for the first time yesterday. We were joined by friends who had highly recommended this restaurant and bakery for a place to eat. I have to say that the food was exceptional. I also wish to add that one of the managers, named Abbie, was so polite, considerate and helpful. She went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was pleasant and memorable. I would highly recommend Aromi in Cambridge as a place to eat at.

Terrible service. Staff were unfriendly, did not ask at any point if we wanted anymore drinks or dessert. Had to wait 30+ minutes for a takeaway box and our bill despite asking twice. Non-optional 12.5% service charge was added to our final bill without any receipt given to see the breakdown of cost which was definitely not deserved. The food however was lovely but will not be going back due to poor service.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to our waitress on Saturday (I’m afraid we didn’t catch her name, but she had red lipstick, a nose ring and a North American (?) accent) who went above and beyond to accommodate our group, was professional without sacrificing her personality and anticipated our needs perfectly. We were grateful to have been able to celebrate our friend’s birthday so easily:)

I love this place and was looking forward to visiting all day. Unfortunately the incorrect drink came out and another one was missed off the order. Not the end of the world but there was no attempt to replace the incorrect drink - instead the waiter insisted it was the drink that I had ordered and instead chose to argue with me. I didn’t even bother to chase the drink that didn’t arrive. Very disappointing experience.

I urge you not to order takeout from this place. The cheese consistently sticks to the top of the paper bag, even when foil-lined bags are used, which has happened on two separate occasions. This issue really ruins from the enjoyment of the pizzas. I'm very disappointed and hope that this problem can be fixed. While the pizzas are generally very nice, the takeout experience needs improvement. Additionally, the lack of staff often leads to long wait times for both placing and receiving orders - sometimes up to 15 minutes or more. All they need to do is give takeaway pizzas in boxes it fixes the issue.

There are two entries one for take away and one for staying in but it wasn’t clearly marked and we were told not super nicely when we got through the wrong side. The food in the take away are different from the sit down and we weren’t able to order the item we saw a the take away when we sat down. My pizza was burned on the top and saggy on the bottom (you can’t tell from the picture because I purposely cropped the burnt bits out). When I mentioned it to the staff they were rude and quickly walked away. The unburnt bits of crust was delicious tho. My rice balls were tough on the outside and overly cheesy on the inside. The cakes we got were good tho. We were sitting downstairs and couldn’t get anyone to bring us the check and we had to go upstairs to hunt them down.

Great to see that Aromi has maintained the quality, reasonable price and amazing thick chocolate despite having expanded and grown. It was great to be back here!

Aromi sullied catering for our work event at the Language Centre at a very short notice and were a pleasure to deal with. Fantastic service and food. Highly recommended!

This is probably the best Italian snack food i have had outside italy. The choice is really good, it's all really fresh as you can see them cooking and restocking. It beats any other coffee shop easily. Not too expensive, not cheap, but worth the money. Well worth a visit.

Totally not recommended. The food is okay. Pizzas are fine, but not exceptional. It took 20 minutes for two pizzas, but they arrived cold! Service was average. The tables are small and very close to each other. The worst part: a 12.5% service charge (£4.65). I did not know that an £11.30 pizza did not include table service. Should I collect my order at the counter when there are waitresses available? The menu lists pizza, drinks, and starters, but not the service charge. They did not even ask if we wanted to leave a tip, they just included after "Sub Total". Was that service charge taxed? Luckily, I requested the receipt and checked it just now. Now I can tell others the truth. Totally not recommended. P.S.: The toilet is downstairs, so if you have mobility issues, this is not the place for you.

Aromi is a must visit in Cambridge. Their sourdough pizza is amazing and ever since we tasted their pistachio cake no birthday for my daughter is complete without it...also they serve a rich and bold Italian espresso to lighten up your day ;) And don`t get me started on their gelato...

Came here with a couple of friends on a weekday evening to grab some dinner before seeing a show at the nearby Cambridge Arts Theatre. The restaurant is like a tardis, way bigger on the inside than it looks as there’s downstairs seating too so don’t be put off if you look through the window and it seems full - you may still be able to get a table! It has a cosy ambience and the staff were warm and welcoming upon arrival. Two of us chose pizzas while the other ordered some arancini from the antipasti menu as their main. Unfortunately this did not seem to be communicated to the kitchen as the arancini was brought out a long time before the pizzas, meaning my friend had to eat her food first and then watch us eat ours. The pizzas were absolutely delicious, although they are served unsliced and the knives are very blunt so my hands were aching by the time I’d finished. It took a while to pay our bill as the restaurant only has one card machine and the waitress seemed a bit flustered when we said we each wanted to pay for what we’d ordered. Ordinarily this wouldn’t have been a problem but due to the misunderstanding with my friend’s meal being served as a starter, we were tight for time and in a hurry to leave, so this was a little frustrating. All in all we had a really nice meal - the food was top notch, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great - so if the little niggles I mentioned get sorted, this place would get 5/5 from me.

Got a takeaway ‘zucchine’ pizza and was blown away. They taste even better than they look (and they look good!). Super fresh and fluffy dough. Very impressed. Went back the next day to sit in this time and got the Caponata pizza which definitely topped the zucchini pizza, it was absolutely delicious. We also got a coffee, a soft biscuit filled with chocolate creme, and a ricotta cannolo (the ricotta one has a slight orangey flavour). I’m no cannoli expert, but I had a couple in Sicily and have never found them the same in the UK until now, the light orange flavour was perfect. I also spotted a jar of crema di pistacchi (it’s like a green nutella made with pistachios instead of hazelnut), which I’ve been missing ever since I was in Sicily on holiday. I can’t wait to open it.

The Italian pizza is the best. The margarita and with vegetables are delicious. Very nice atmosphere. Very good attention.

Good food, but the ordering and takeaway set-up is an utter shambles. Shouldn't take 25 minutes to get a takeaway sandwich.

Zucchine pizza is divine! Inefficient ordering system though.

They had tasty pizzas , but I would never go again. My experience in this pizzeria is so bad. They don’t give us a single table for eating in, even though they still have available ones downstairs. The staff was asking the guy in front of me if he wanna take out or eat in; But when it came to me, she said it was too crowded to eat in! We ended up taking a hot pizza, sitting somewhere beside to the street and eating it without a fork. It was terribly difficult to finish it without any tableware. All the toppings fell in the bottom of the bag…😤😮‍💨 I guess no need to explain more.

All tables outside were messy when we arrived but got cleaned after we asked the waitress. The lady serving pastries was polite and friendly and the food was nice. But waited about 15 minutes for our coffee and it was cold. When we said it was cold, the waiter was rude and blamed it on the ‘government regulations’? Must have missed the news announcement that UK residents are no longer allowed coffees above room temperature. They took the coffees inside, came back with them 2 mins later and they were exactly the same- if not colder.

It takes too long for people to wait in line. In particular, there is no notification even after waiting for a long time. I waited about 20 minutes for my order and 20 more minutes after paying, and there was no apology. One out of three dishes didn't come out. There is no explanation during the rebuilding process. It took 50 minutes to prepare everything. The pizza came out tangled inside the wrapper and the toppings were battered. It sticks to the packaging, so you have to tear it, then remove the paper and eat it. It was difficult to eat because all the toppings spilled out. Don't do takeout. no. Don't go to this restaurant.

It was a nice place! I definitely should've looked at the menu beforehand, I didn't see any pasta but their Margherita is good!

I've noticed significant cross-contamination between veg and non-veg pizza slices here. While standing in the queue, I saw slices of meat falling onto the veg pizzas. The staff simply picked them up and placed them back onto the meat pizzas. Although they're wearing gloves, they don't change them between handling veg and non-veg items, which is very concerning. This needs to be addressed to ensure proper hygiene and respect for dietary preferences for vegetarians. I come to this place for their pizza slices and coffee and witnessing this has really put me off now buying the veg options. Adding insult to injury, my coffee was served using the same gloves. The level of carelessness observed here is unacceptable. Adhering to basic hygiene standards is essential for maintaining a safe and enjoyable dining experience for all customers

Cosy & authentic Italian Pizzas &Aranchini place. Kind of hard to get a free table on the ground floor, but more seats are downstairs. Great place to have a lunch break between the classes in Cambridge. During student-times we in here often, mainly as a take-out (~20 pence cheaper ). You get free water here. Place is still great, have more small fancy bakery-style sweets and finger-food now. If you have a car, there is also big underground parking around.

An extremely bad dining experience. I followed the navigation for a long time and found this store. When I walked in, I saw that the environment was very average. I ordered a pasta. Dining in the store was one pound more expensive than taking it away. Before serving, I wanted to replace the hollow noodles with pasta, but I was refused. And this is a quick-frozen product taken out of the refrigerator, heated and defrosted and sold to customers! When served, it looks like this in Figure 1. . The dining environment is very poor and there are flies! ! The waiter's attitude was also very bad, saying "no" indifferently without smiling! ! The taste is very bad! !

The queue to order is very - very - long. Will dine-in be about 0.3 pounds more expensive than takeout? The service is better than nothing, but the pizza is really delicious. I recommend the eggplant pizza (it tastes like fish-flavored eggplant) and the Margherita pizza. Tiramisu is delicious

Really good pastries but the staff are so rude! Particularly the taller girl behind the counter with black hair, I didn't see her smile, she didn't say thank you when placing my coffee down. In fact barely even spoke! It's sad that such a good cafe is ruined by poor service. NOTE: there are other reviews that say the same.

The food was solid! The aranchini was nice, but the pizza was slightlyyyy underwhelming, and got cold very quickly. Taste wise, it was pretty basic/mid - nothing crazy or stand out. The portions, however, are worthwhile, and definitely give you a bang for your buck! Servers were lovely and thorough, and the restaurant has two floors, so plenty of seating :)

Very light sourdough makes you want even more! Came twice in a day to get another slice! Had the plain croissant and chocolate croissant, oh my the chocolate was overloaded! Worth the long queue! Highly recommended.

Always a nice experience coming here. Be prepared for the queue because their pizzas are famous here! The coffee and the arancinis are also very good.

Overpriced terrible place with the worst service in Cambridge. Try to avoid it.

Flatbread was good but the pistachio croissant was not! Way too much filling, tasted unpleasant. A light amount of real pistachios would have been much better.

The place is nice when you first get in, but then the food isn't 5 stars, and the service is slow and not too professional. We ordered coffee, after some wait, they have forgotten that there was an order. The place tells you it's Italian but I don't think so, This is my opinion having been to different places in Italy.

The food taste plain. The service is awful… My friend was taking a picture of this restaurant and the waitress was shouting like ‘what r u looking for?’ for at least three times at my friend after she apologized. If you don’t want people taking photos of your restaurant, just simply give a label there instead of shouting at your customers. I feel totally disrespected and I won’t recommend this place at all.

Had to wait 20 minutes in line just to wait 25 minutes for one pizza. It's not worth it for small orders, not for this level of food

I arrived at 9 and I couldn't order until 30 min later. If you are not going to be ready at opening time, just change your schedule to adjust to your capacity. Otherwise it feels like false advertising to open doors at 9 and not having anything ready til one hour later.

Recommend the pizza with aubergine was so delicious!

We entered in the shop area of this bar asking if dogs were allowed (we have a basset hound). The lady said that small dogs were allowed indeed, she took a look at the dog and confirmed that we could get in. We waited in line for about ten minutes to be served. When we were eventually about to order, one other employee of the bar showed up and said in a rude way “dogs are not allowed here” acting as we just got in without any permission. We explained the situation and he went on saying that we were not allowed in with an extremely unpleasant attitude. At that point, in a decent place, they would just take the order explaining that there was an error from their side and asking in a polite way if we were ok with take away instead of eating in. I don’t know about the food here, but I can say that your customer service is dreadful. Good money requires decent customer service.

Service is suck. Staff are extremely rude. Racism. I took a seat while my fried is ordering, the staff told me that I can only take seat after ordering and not allow me to sit. Fine I go wait for my friend , but after ordering when we try to find some seat, some white girls already sitting there even they have NOT YET order! Last but not least, the WORST coffee here! Even worst than Starbucks!

Pizza, Arancini and croissants were lovely, although fairly pricey. Seemed to be suffering a lack of staff, inefficient process for ordering/seating etc. and a particularly rude member of staff who clearly hadn’t been on the customer service training course - unnecessarily short with visitors, particularly tourists, which does the atmosphere no favours at all!
