Had great meal at lunch time very friendly cosy pub and food was fresh hot and yummy recommend it landlord was very kind nothing to much trouble

Went for a roast on our holiday, the staff were super friendly, helpful and made our experience enjoyable. Unfortunately the food made me ill later on that day, and didn't seem the freshest. Apart from that the rest of our experience was good.

Well a very good pint of Guinness for sure & if you turn up on a Sunday at 15.00 then you could very well be singing along as it is an open mic afternoon & it's not bad at all.A friendly atmosphere certainly worth a visit if your out for a Sunday walk along PZ seafront it's just behind the lugger inn

For mains, we had the mussels and the seafood marinara. The mussels were absolutely delicious. It was the best mussels we have had, especially since we like a creamy wine, and garlic sauce with it. The main's portion for the mussels is huge

Walked in from walking by wasn’t planning welcoming and nice staff. got the muscles and couldn’t be better 2 beers and shared the muscles with my wife she was delighted excellent service

Popped in on spec one Sunday evening with my son recently before getting the Riviera Express to London. Menu limited to some specials and Sunday roast. We took the roast. Very tasty. Glad we didnt order the large, the small was well big enough.

On holiday in Cornwall and I was desperate for a Sunda Roast y Dinner. Found The Navy Inn on line and booked a table. Initially I thought that I had made a mistake as it was quite quiet, however we were just before it got busy. The Roast was GORGEOUS, the beef cooked to perfection, lovely roast potato's and a piping hot cauliflower cheese , definable better than my own ! Would recommend and we will be going back.

A pub for all locals,visitor,dogs. Excellent trade ale on offer, and keg. Love to call in. Excellent sunday lunch at good price.

Service was friendly but the food was disappointing. The marinara was pretty awful, completely tasteless it did not seem to have any flavouring at all. The sauce, if it can be called that was very runny. At £17.95 it's hardly cheap. The burger had missing ingredients, though the meat itself was good. Not sure what went wrong, tempted to think we did not get the usual chef. To be honest, whoever cooked this does not merit being called a chef. Most of the reviews here are positive, so perhaps we just got unlucky. Not sure.we would risk returning though.

Situated just off the Promenade this is a great "proper pub". Fabulous Moules and excellent Sunday Roast.

We had eaten here before a year ago or so, this holiday we’ve had two meals here, in this traditional pub/restaurant. We’ve concentrated on fish, my husband had Seafood Marinara, I had fish pie. Both terrific, beautifully cooked. Despite being understaffed, the service was great, it’s a lovely friendly place.

What a gem, great pub and a very good landlord. Lovely location. Recommended.

Ate there this evening, can't understand the rating, guess there has been a change of ownership. Food was tasteless, the mussels were swimming in cream, the pasta was almost unseasoned. Regarding the service, the girl kindly apologized that it was her first day, but received very little support from the boss. The boss himself is difficult to understand and has to ask twice despite the fact that he has written down the order. It's fine for drinking a beer.

We called in for New Year's Eve drinks and were made to feel very welcome and included in all the festivities. Staff were fabulous. The place clean and well organised. Just off the promenade, will defo go again and sample the food too.

Wonderful and welcoming service by the staff and stu the landlord. Food was delicious, me and my friend had the goats cheese and the chicken liver pate and I cannot fault it. Atmosphere is fantastic with a good vibe about the place. I 100% recommend coming to this place.

We called several times at the Navy and got to know the landlord, Stuart, He keeps a good pint and is knowledgeable about Penzance and the local scene. Nice cosy pub with friendly locals and food.

Went on a day when the chef was resting..... Beer was excellent, staff amazingly friendly and a lovely chat with the owner. Going back for a food tasting later in the week. Great place for a pint after shopping on a Monday

This pub is ideal for a simple drink and chat, if you are hungry the food is spot on. Staff very welcoming and helpful. It is our local when we come to Cornwall, reliable and friendly.

Called in for a few pints. Sat at the bar waiting for the bar staff to finish talking to customers. Made myself known I was waiting, he looked straight through me as if wasn’t there. Unbelievable, so I walked out to take my money somewhere else.

Just had the most amazing Sunday roast. The food was fantastic, portions were the perfect amount, the service was great. An absolute find and so glad we found it. Will be returning on a future visit soon to sample some of the specials.

Great little local pub and served lovely food. I had the mussels and others in our group had chicken burgers and beef burgers. The portion of mussels was huge and it was all really tasty. The staff were really friendly and helpful too. We'd most definitely go back when we're next down in Penzance.

Down to earth pub with excellent fresh, local food just back from the Penzance seafront. Cosy, characterful interior with some local art on the walls and clearly used by locals who were friendly. Food was good value at between £13 and £18 for most main courses but much better quality than many more expensive places. All the meals we had were excellent and our older kids enjoyed their burger and fish pie whilst we had fish dishes from the specials board. These were absolutely delicious - wonderfully fresh and well prepared. The hake with samphire and caper butter sauce was possibly the best such dish I've had and exactly what I love to find on holiday near a fishing port. Staff were very friendly and helpful and food came quickly despite them being pretty stretched. The atmosphere in the bar area where we ate was a traditional, busy pub with music and bustle. If you are after a delicious, good value meal in a lively classic pub setting a few steps from the sea then the Navy Inn is perfect.

We called on a whim tonight as we forgot it was Sunday and forgot to go shopping. They managed to fit us in as a family of 4. When we arrived the reception was friendly and the atmosphere as you would expect in a pub. It was Sunday so there was a roast on as well as some meals in the specials board. The menu wasn't overly extensive but there was enough of a choice. The kids both had a beef roast, according to my son the Yorkies were better than mine but not as good as his uncles, this is a very high accolade, the beef was nice but a little chewy and they roasties and veg were a good compliment. My husband had the Cajun chicken burger which was lovely and I had the Hake, this was really outstanding, my compliments to the chef. This was follow by a round of brownies and cheesecake, which were all tasty. Overall, it was reasonably priced with drinks and deserts it came to around £95 and hit the spot. Thank you for a lovely meal.

We went for lunch with two small children. The staff were very attentive. They had a good selection of beers, I enjoyed the Cornish IPA 'Proper Job'. Food was excellent, delicious homemade pie. Good kids menu. Child-friendly pub. Would go again!

What a find. Stopped by for drinks one night. And had a bit of food. Wow, it was fantastic. We came back the next day again. Lovely, old place. Staff are friendly which made up for missing a few things. But we didn't mind at all and enjoyed both of our stays. Honestly, great food. Can highly recommend! A hidden gem.

Absolutely great pub which serves restaurant food. Clearly used by locals, two great cask ales tried & very well kept. Well stocked small bar & friendly staff ( what more could you want!) Pub has live music occasionally The food we tried see photo was delicious! Well worth seeking out!

Not impressed. The coke was not cold and both were flat. Asked for an aperol spritz got a apple juice with soda. Offered an Aperol Spritz without prosecco as none available. Made in a small glass,, normally served in a bigger glass with lots of ice.. The glass was not a pint glass even though we did remark for the cokes. All three steaks were very tough. To send back all 3 would have been embarassing. The chips were reheated wedges. No option of having new potatoes instead of chips but they were on other dishes. Such a shame really. Hope this helps....

My mate and I called in whilst on a motorbike tour of Cornwall. Reasonably priced food. Tasted excellent. Steak & Ale Pie had loads of large pieces of tender steak and the mixed grill was great. Friendly staff and brilliant Landlord. Well worth a visit.

The food was great and very reasonably priced. The 2 front of house people were fab - it was very busy however they were attentive, friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend and return.

We went for dinner on Saturday the 8th of July and had a wonderful time! The staff were incredibly friendly to us and our dog, and they went above and beyond to cater for our food allergies. The fish of the day was we’ve ever had, and we received the largest amount of mussels I’ve ever seen! My only note would be that I wish I could of finished this generous portion. If you’re ever in Penzance please consider paying this venue a visit

Just happened to come across this pub while visiting Penzance and what a find. A simple pub menu executed with 5 stars. Very friendly staff, good value. We all had something different of the menu and all dishes where very tasty. Well done chef and all the staff. A perfect finish to our day.

Stopped in for lunch, both of us chose the special, gammon steak, egg, peas and chips, it was freshly cooked and tasted great. Interior was comfortable and we enjoyed our lunch

We went to The Navy 3 times during our stay in Penzance. The food was excellent, beer was kept well and service was good. Worth booking but on our last night, the table we had booked was occupied! Not worth dropping the ranking for thatm

struggled with the scoring here - the pub has a good selection of ales and there were several locals here drinking only, reminiscing a very recent and lively session. I would suggest this to be an excellent venue for drinking - 5 star. The food we had was very good and they also have a specials board - 4 star. But the pub has not the most comfortable wooden tables and chairs and the music in the background was a little loud and there playlist of songs at 1830hrs in the evening included some with swearing in the lyrics - not ideal if we had had the children with us - 3 star. Friendly, cheerful staff.

Back at The Navy Inn again. One word describes the whole experience from service to the food and drink: "Excellent". I strongly recommend you visit. Open mike on Sunday is fun. Atmosphere electric. Thank you to everyone at the Navy Inn for making our experience a brilliant one. :)
