On our spring trip, we came across this great bar venue on the banks of the Trent..Good helpful bar staff, reasonably priced and saw a great band ‘Soul Solutions’.. Great use of a classic building, Good vibe excellent place to go for a fun night.. recommend it

Lovely land lord and staff. So helpful. We had lunch as we had broken down. They were all amazing. Food was tasty and very reasonably priced.

Judging by the wall art and past visits the bar is generally rock type music. Today Saturday 14.00 we went in only briefly as the ‘banging tunes’ were club vibe so spoilt the visit. No one was in so I guess it is the staff choice of music. Nice pleasant girls but setting the wrong impression. On another day with a different playlist it gets a 5 rating all day long.

Nice location with view on River Trent canal. Perfect cold lager and live music. Need I write anything more?

Great hidden gem. Fabulous location. We had the Sunday lunch, which for £12.00 was OK but a bit on the small side and quite a small portion of separate vegetables - burgers looked great though. Would definitely return

Great atmosphere with equal views of the trent but on our last visit we was hoping to enjoy Tapas but was out of stock and a lot on the menu was not on but did not spoil a great evening out !

Great place for music but ive not eaten there.

Seemed like a lovely location . Asked staff it was okay to move a table by the window as the band wasn't starting till 9pm . Owner decided to come over and harass us claiming we were being rude and difficult to staff.....bizarre.....you have a lovely pub nice location why scare away customers who simply ask if they can move a table.

Dog friendly. Warm. Welcoming. Friendly. Great beers/wines etc. Wonderful feeling. Plenty of places to sit. Very relaxed/ chilled atmosphere. Parking. Absolutely lovely.

To noisey, acoustics make it difficult to hear when there is a crowd. Ended up moving to the Ram.

Superb food, generous portions clearly cooked by a chef that loves this style of food. Bar staff on it, made us and a little boy very welcome. First visit but definitely not the last! Thankyou

Amazing venue, great people, totally recommend 💯

We had two tapas dishes for a shared starter and one main course from the specials board between the two of us. Very tasty ribs and chicken wings for the main and tempura prawns for the starter were amazing. Lovely evening sitting watching boats sail past right in front of us. Obviously very conscious of needs for Covid - cleaning the tables thoroughly between customers and one only in the toilets with a clear sign on the ladies door. Slightly off the beaten track so need to know it's there.

What a wonderful hidden gem of a place. Brilliant food, fantastic location alongside the river, good selection of drinks and very reasonable prices. 6 of is ate and had several drinks for less than £110. We'll be back!

Love this pub. Great for visiting for food with the family and fantastic live music every weekend, all weekend. The chef offers some really interesting choices, with specials on top of a high quality but also very reasonably priced menu.

Went in for a meal in the evening with my girlfriend, good selection of tapas avaliable (6), my girlfriend had a Asian chicken burger and loved it, I had the Boa Bun special which was hoisin chicken it was amazing. Staff are really helpful too :) would highly recommend.

Really nice pub with great views and an excellent Bar person on visit last Saturday 21/5/22. The beer was very nice and okay selection downside no food available that day. It's was a little annoying as my group would of eaten before if we know.

Visited on Sat 21st May and a had fantastic night of music and entertainment from a brilliant band - the ‘ex-kittens’ who hail from the Lincoln area playing covers. From the moment they started playing the whole place was alive and ‘buzzing’. Great Bar staff working hard and very helpful. Evidently the Saturday night live bands is a regular event and I will definitely visit again

Nice spot by the river. I didn't eat but the food looked ok. The visit was spoilt by the "musak" obviously chosen by the young staff,a hideous nonstop drone of rap and lord knows what.no thought given to the age or preferences of the clientele.

As this was my first visit to Newark, this pub did take a bit of finding, situated right at the back of a yard. Interesting architecture, directly adjacent to the Trent, with the occasional boat passing the window. Exposed brickwork and timber beams were nice. Seemed to be trying to be a traditional pub and a modern bar at the same time. I had a pint of Harvest Pale, which was a nice light drink. Prices typical for the area.

Keep an eye out for their live music sessions as the cavernous interior provides perfectly for an atmospheric gig night. An appreciative music crowd frequents and there’s friendly staff. Enjoy!

This pub was the making of our night in Newark, the band they had on was fantastic and for a night venue I was surprised to find the Guinness excellent. It was a little bit pricy but there was no cover charge on the door so we didn't mind paying a bit extra. There was such a well behaved friendly respectable bunch there also.

We were visiting the area for the night on the 9th August 20, and happened upon The Navigation as they had an outdoor musician playing. We dropped in thinking they would not have space for us, but with a little shuffling around we were presented with a table and chairs grabbed from inside. Great safe and friendly service, would definitely go back again.

Lovely canal side bar, with bare brickwork and low arched ceilings... Great selection of bears, Ciders and spirits, also has regular live music. A lovely find on our first night in Newark.
