Had a lovely meal here with family & friends on Saturday night & were made to feel very welcome. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals-but the homemade steak & ale pie my other half had-he said was one of the best pies he’d ever tasted. Will look forward to returning again one day so my Dad can try the faggots- which had unfortunately run out. Would definitely recommend this traditional pub for proper grub.

Great canalside pub. Really good food and super helpful staff. We were late arriving on a boat and called ahead to make sure they would still serve us. They took our order over the phone and the food was cooked and ready just as we arrived. So helpful and a great atmosphere. We had a great night and big thanks to Alex, a real credit to the place!

We promised ourselves a Sunday Lunch here based on previous visits. We were not disappointed! We both had the roast lamb which came at a £2 premium over the other roasts on offer. The lamb was excellent and there was a good selection of vegetables on the plate including roast potatoes and boiled new potatoes. This made rather more potato than either of us wanted but I'm not going to knock anyone for putting too much on my plate! We were quite glad that we didn't have a starter and didn't feel like a dessert after. We both drank an excellent pint of Enville Bitter (or 2 in some cases).

This is a really smashing traditional pub and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening here. We will definitely be back for more. Very friendly pub with attentive staff and excellent theme nights. Particularly enjoyed the pub quiz and the curry and side for £5 offer was delicious - all home cooked by a very funny and sweet in house chef who delivered the food to the table themselves! The staff are amazing and will help you with any query you need support with. A huge wide range of things to drink for children and staff. The FOOD is AMAZING. Nice setting close to the canal and Ashwood nursery but really run down outside. Rubbish and weeds everywhere, needs a really good tidy up. Dissappointing visit today. Glasses were filthy, with mouth and lipstick marks around the rim (frightening when covid continues) and filled cobs were mouldy. Ham looked nice however cheese had no flavour, but we couldn't eat after spotting the mould! Presume it was the manager behind the bar, he wasn't at all interested, leaving the poor bar staff obviously embarrassed but the young girl dealt with it the best she could. The refurbished toilets were spotless though.

My elderly parents were regular visitors prior to the pandemic so were looking forward to visiting again. The Navigation is doing menu limited to Sandwiches & chips which was fine. Unfortunately the waitress severely overcharged us & wouldn’t accept that she had. Not wanting to upset Mum & Dad I had to accept her word but it left a nasty taste & we agreed we wouldn’t be going again even if the food had been great but it wasn’t - cheap chips, stale cob & a limp bit of lettuce.

After donning my mask and scanning my NHS App, I was seated and served very swiftly and efficiently by the solitary bar staff. The pub was occupied by approximately 20-30 customers and the lone server was keeping up with orders, despite the fact that customers were not permitted to approach the bar to order drinks. Then, the shift change! I had finished the first pint and was trying to attract the attention of the bar staff, which now consisted of a young lady and a young man. The server was only interested in serving the locals and regulars. It was absolutely impossible for her to miss my waving arms and signaling from my table. In fact, on one visit to the adjacent room to serve the locals, she seemed to acknowledge my empty beer glass waving by waving back at me in an exaggerated fashion. At first I thought it was a sign that she had seen me and was intending to serve me, but I was wrong, it was a sarcastic gesture, as if to say, "don't wave at me, I will serve who I want".Terrible place, at least after evening shift change.

We booked for an evening meal last night at 7pm. We chose to sit outside for a drink first as had arrived early. Whilst queuing with at least 10 others at the bar for drinks which did block the doorway, a young blonde girl at the bar started shouting saying if people expected to get table service outside then it was tough, they would have to queue with everyone else because they were far too busy! thought we were supposed to be socially distancing where possible? They were very busy due to the eat out scheme which is understandable but after waiting an hour for food with no updates and not being initially told there would be a delay, we got a refund and left. Disappointing as is a lovely place with a fab location

I visit this pub all the time and have never had any problems at all any other time. But I decided to visit with my friends and before we ordered our drinks we decided to use the toilets, after this we went out and went to sit down outside, shortly after this we were greeted by a short on the larger side man saying we either needed to buy a drink or leave which was obviously why we were there in the first place (obviously to have a drink) which we replied to him saying yes we were planning on having a drink we just were going to find seating and then ask what everyone wanted. We felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable by this so not long after we decided to just leave so we walked back to our cars to leave as we thought it was completely out of order for someone to be speaking to us in such a disgusting manner so we should go somewhere else as we were clearly not welcome her. we decided to leave but as we were leaving an older woman came walking over to the car park and stood there with her hands on her hips demanding we leave so me and my friends simply asked what her problem was but she couldn’t give us a reason as to why she was demanding that we leave. The worst experience I’ve ever had at any pub EVER obviously they just didn’t want younger people drinking in the pub that night but if this was the case then they should make that more clear there is simply no need for the horrible attitude that we received from the two people. Will never be going there again they need to learn a simple trait called RESPECT and simple MANNERS.(Would give zero stars if I could)

Had a ride out here as hadn't visited for a while and wanted to make the most of a lunch out on a well earnt rare day off. Wished I had gone elsewhere. Cold outside so had hoped the logged fires would be lit as it is a traditional country pub. Not only was none of the three log fires lit the heating wasn't on. Had we not ordered food we would have left after one drink. My partner asked if the heating could be put on and he was told it was on. He reassured them it was freezing and could they check. Again told it was on. They eventually came and felt all the radiators...guess what not on. Shock horror the customer was right. The member of staff after walking away then said loud enough for us to here they are still 'moaning' about the heating. Sorry if as a customer I was sat in your pub with my coat and gloves on dithering waiting for food. Shame on the staff for not not being more proactive immediately and offering to light a fire or a free hot drink?? No I was clearly just moaning! Eventually you came over said it was now on and it was obviously another customers fault because they apparently turn the radiators off all the time!! If you know they do this...you should check. It was that cold my napkin wrapped around my knife and fork was damp! Finally our fiod arrived, we had gammon and steak n ale pie. The food was nice and good portions. We didn't stay for a pudding or another drink we decided to go outside for a warm in the 10 degrees. A gem of a pub but lacking in customer service no wonder it was quiet on a Friday lunchtime. Shame.

The Navigation Inn is a very friendly pub in a tranquil setting. It is also (apparently) the only place in England that you can get hand pulled Guinness according to our friends who took us there. The Guinness is good but so is the Golden Ale. The pub's garden was lovely overlooking the cannel. It is a great place for a drink. We stopped in after doing the walk to Baddeley Clinton and then on to Packwood House and then walking back on the cannel path to the pub where we had left car for a very welcome pint. The Navigation is a friendly place with a good mix of local and travelling patrons. The travellers are a combination of Boat people from the adjacent canal or a fair few walkers or cyclists who use the pub as a watering hole to sweeten their journey. Service is both friendly and excellent and the owner Rosco is front of house on numerous occasions to make sure things flow as they should. The food available is normal pub fare but to a good standard and reasonably priced too. For the real ale lovers there are a number of local ales to choose from notably Bathams and Enville ale ( unique in that it is brewed using bees honey as one of its major ingredients. Their are a number of typical pub benches outside if you prefer to eat or drink out there and watch the boats trundle along the canal. Otherwise inside there is an open plan clean and tidy pub with decent seating plus the benefit of Two log fires in winter months

Fantastic location and lovely pub. I went to buy 2 drinks to be told under £20.00 is a £1.00 charge. A new law came in this year that no card charges. Plus under £20.00 is harsh as most people paying by card for just drinks probably wouldn’t spend more than £20.00.

Called for lunch whilst taking a winter walk along the canal. The food was hot, servings were ample and very reasonably priced. The locals were all friendly so everything met the bill.

Rosco runs a classic and homely pub near the canal on the edge of Enville, Greensforge lane being just round the corner. Great beer and pub grub, sometimes lovely fires raging either side

After walking out of a nearby restaurant because the service was awful we went to The Navigation. Despite being packed we were seated within minutes and our food which was freshly cooked and hot came within minutes. The staff care, are always smiling and all in all we haven't had a single bad experience going back years. All in all a great place and the food is always top notch.

'Dog friendly' isn't for me. No animals should be allowed in any restaurant dining area. The table tops - we tried 2 of them, need a thorough clean . They are greasy.

Visited today, welcomed by friendly bar woman. Ordered drinks but as there was only one person clearing tables and taking orders so service was a bit slow. Food was hot, fairly tasty and reasonably priced. I had soup with a roll and butter and my friend had an egg and bacon sarni with a side of cheesy chips. She couldn't finish the chips as the portion was fairly large. Nice inn, good atmosphere but in need of revamp and tlc.

In the right hands this little pub could be amazing .....always popular in the summer months due to its location .....but today when I drove passed .... i felt quite queasy ... seeing the chef (lady)with a blue and white tabbard on, coming out of the pub with a lit cigarette .... collecting glasses and plates ... such a shame ... not a good impression ....

Lovely pub sitting along the canal, decent pub grub and friendly staff make it popular. Dogs are welcome which is a major plus. Lovely beer gardens although a very busy road right out the front so safer keeping dogs on the leash. Family live close by so we always try and get a visit in when we are down South

Visited here with some friends, eight of us in total. We had a variety of main courses, all of which were good value, including scampi, lasagna and salmon.

Of you want to revisit the pubs of your childhood (in the 1960s?) the Navigation is the place to go. An apparently greasy and beer soaked carpet. An odd selection of not very clean tables. A wide variety of old and decrepit chairs with dirty and worn seats. Crumpled and greasy menus. First impressions were not good. The piped music didn't help either. The menu was old fashioned and not very inspiring but I can't telly comment on moist of the food since we had sandwiches. These were served on uninteresting sliced bread but were all right as far as they went. The salad garnish was sparse. Three beer on the other hand was good and the location is greasy. The other ameliorating factor was the staff who were welcoming and friendly. I was not very impressed and won't be going back. Sorry.

Passed it a few times had a sandwich once which was cracking. Returned with friends for lunch BIG mistake. No mash potatoes. Fish cooked to within an inch of its life. Batter was more like scratchings.Beef lasagne was more tomatoe sauce than beef.Service was bad. Waitress was unfreindly.Think the chef spent most of her time sitting in doorway smoking. Will not go back again

My family and I went to Lunch at the Inn on a Sunday, the atmosphere was excellent. The Inn is located alongside a canal lock on the South Staffs canal so you can watch the narrow boats pass through the lock whilst you drink your beer.Having had lunch and a few beers, a walk along the towpath was most enjoyable.

Saturday 8th July. Had planned a trip especially from north wales. Always been on my bucket list. Checked website and Facebook page. Sorry to hear about the break in. Information stated should be open again 6th or 7th July. Tried to phone before visit to check if open. No answer. Should've been open 8th but no updates or information. Arrived at 12:15. Five cars parked by locked gate. Nobody knew What was happening. Walked down the lane. Fantastic house. Unfortunatly we had a wasted trip. Blackboard outside 'closed until further notice' people arriving after us who we informed they were closed. Had we known we wouldn't have wasted a journey.

Popped for lunch after dog walking. A good selection of choices on the menu and a lovely atmosphere in this canalside pub. Dogs are welcome - there's a couple of dog-free areas as well - and this makes a good spot for refreshments (or more) after walking along the canal towpath. We'll definitely be back!

Love this restaurant. Use it for personal as well as business and it’s always superb. The daytime/Prixe Fixe is such good value during daytimes and what I love is they are not small portions! The cod loin is delicious as are a whole host of other dishes. Goats cheese is unbelievable too. Drinks are also good value and an excellent choice of wines and spirits. All in all, it’s a cracking restaurant with really warm and welcoming staff. Nothing is too much trouble, even at the busiest times. Special mention to Tonya as she is excellent and very friendly & warm. A real credit to you. Keep on doing what you’re doing, well done guys & thank you.
