We live very close to London and are used to high prices in pubs but almost £16 for a pint and medium glass of wine seems exorbitant! In an almost empty pub that was lacking in atmosphere to say the least. We are staying just a few hundred metres from this place and had the prices been more reasonable we’d have used it every night of our holiday, but after last evening’s experience we will never darken its door step again.

Such an atmospheric and friendly pub. Food was very good but quite a lot kept running out just before we ordered - could be a good sign and just our bad luck. We returned on Tuesday and thoroughly enjoyed the singing and banter of the Boscombe Buoys. Dog friendly and you need to book.

Very disappointing. Went for evening meal. Very welcoming but unfortunately food not good. Both had burgers - burger basic, overcooked bacon, hardly any cheese and burnt chips. One piece of lettuce and tomato at bottom of burger which was warm and limp. No onion ring as stated on menu. For the price should have side salad/coleslaw. Knew it wasn't very good as husband left chips and quarter of burger (normally eats everything up). Did mention and took 10% off bill but would have preferred good meal. Quite pricey pub especially compared to Cobweb Inn in main part of Boscastle - usually touristy part more expensive.

What a fantastic find! Whilst on holiday we decided to pop somewhere for Sunday lunch. Having seen the great reviews on here, we opted to book a table. So glad we did! It’s a lovely, old pub, tucked away up the hill in Boscastle with a little handy car park to the side. The staff were welcoming & friendly. The food was delicious. 3 of us had the roast and it was quite honestly one of the nicest pub roasts we’ve ever had. Tasty, plenty of it, well cooked, hot & full of flavour. The fish & chips were also really nice. Fresh, light, crispy batter with the most delicious chips. We all really enjoyed the food & would highly recommend a visit.

Lovely pub with excellent atmosphere. Busy crowd of locals and visitors and a roaring fire. Only negative is the sparkly 'art' dotted around the pub - really not a good look in such a traditional place; way too 'GCSE Art Project' for such a nice venue (red lips and sea horses etc with glitter :-( )

We’ve been coming the the Napoleon for years whenever we visit Boscastle. My wife and I were staying around the corner for Christmas this year and popped into the Nap a couple of times during our visit. I heard that it recently changed hands but I have to say, the food was incredible (as always) and the atmosphere was just as warm and welcoming as before. Seriously , did I say the food was incredible ! Sunday roast was amazing and the second night I had a stake. Damn , those chips were good. I can’t wait to return.

We went for a Sunday roast on a cold wet May afternoon, roast beef, beautifully roasted potatoes, vegetables seasoned with garlic and herbs and such a lot of flavour so no need for the salt and pepper provided. We only had to wait about 10 mins for a table to clear and be disinfected for us. I had the nut roast and my other half the lamb and both were stunning. The nut roast was especially incredible. Roast spuds and veggies were a highlight and very nicely flavoured and roasted (not your usual boiled veg). We tried a local larger that was on tap which was very tasty.Highly recommend. Must book in advance. Good one way system in place. Only downside was having to park a few mins walk away and the pub was very noisy as there were a few families with young children but that did not take away from the great food and atmosphere.

Have visited this pub before so know it’s a gemAs a fussy eater I always I look at the menu online before visiting and pick out what I want (pan seared chicken) followed by a back up (ribs) in case it’s sold outUpon arrival were given a much reduced menu and neither of my choices were on it, which was very disappointing but I did manage to find something to eat. The staff were very pleasant but I was slightly annoyed that my consent was not asked for the track and trace (as it’s optional) I was told my details had already been entered The one way system was ok but if the weather is bad you have to go outside to go to the loo - not ideal Also not suitable for really young families as no baby change facilities and the kids menu is aimed at 5+ I would say with only ice cream as a dessert choiceMy son had fish and we found a few bones in it which is not what you want for a 2 year oldDessert was small in comparison to what we have had already on our holiday but priced similarly. I really dislike it when chefs put icing sugar on as decoration as I’m allergic to dust so it makes me cough and sneeze- however as my son demolished my fudge cake before I got the chance it didn’t really matter Will come again when children are older and pandemic is over, it would be nice to see the staff’s smiles

Well done to the Nap Team. When you book you can take great delight and reassurance that their Covid preventative measures are in place. One way systems, track & trace and clear instructions are all apparent. The staff comply, some customers don’t - get a grip public, it’s for your safety. If you’re fed up with Covid and bored with following instructions don’t go to the Nap. If you want to the comfort of knowing you’re in safe hands in these difficult times - the Nap is the place to go.P&L

Visited here as a family of 4 (children age 8 and 3) for dinner after a day in Tintagel and a wander around Boscastle. Had pre booked and was the Eat Out to Help Out scheme when we visited. We were advised our table was only until 7pm but as we had young children this didn’t matter. Good COVId one way system and staff friendly. We just had the one course as the portions were pretty large and we were all tired after a busy day but all enjoyed the food. I had the lasagna which was delicious and my husband had the prawn linguine. The children had the veg pasta and the ham egg and chips. The later was a great size and wish I’d ordered two of those as the pasta was very chunky and not that suitable for my 3 year old as it was full of courgette which she doesn’t eat. She loved the garlic bread though as did we all! Lovely Cornish gin and beer too. Pretty setting, would recommend.

In general, I want this review to be positive due to the huge effort the management and staff have gone to to make Corvid measures work in this small, quaint old pub. We pre-booked our table knowing that the "Eat out to Help Out" scheme would mean it would be busy and we arrived early to have a drink and a game of cards in the garden. The pub was busy and the "one-way" system was adhered to by the staff and "most" of the customers. However, you always get the one who thinks Corvid doesn't apply to him. Complete plonker, probably a local cider or lager waller who completely ignores the rules of engagement. Staff were apologetic when I got served.

Absolutely gutted we wasted one of our evenings eating at this place, first thing that hit us was the strong smell of disinfectant and not in a nice way. They didn't really seem to know what they were doing with the covid situation, they wouldn't want to collect the dirty items from around our table but were then happy to lean all over us to deliver the food(other places we have been to have sides or little tables set up to minimise the risk). Now for the food menu very limited especially starters which I get in this climate, but then there's no place to hide with the cooking. The nachos were bland and not worth the money they expect for them but in fairness the whitebait was nice. The cornish pasty was awful just full of potato and no meat the linguine just look like it had a pot of cream tipped on it and little bits of shell on it and the steaks weren't cooked to how we asked. We were so disappointed we didn't want to stay for dessert, and to top it off was the state of the toilet it was horrendous. The one plus for the napoleon was the little young waitress who tried her best to get everything write and was very polite a real asset. Would never go back again!!!

We booked a table at the Napoleon for dinner on the night we arrived in Boscastle. When we arrived the waitress couldn’t find our booking, but found us somewhere to sit and eat anyway, with massive apologies for it not being in the diary. (It later transpired it was booked in my first name not my surname which I’d given when we arrived) Drinks were served promptly. The food order was also done without having to wait too long. The food arrived in good time and was all nice. We had some desserts which again were all done without any messing around. We had to ask for salt and vinegar with our mains, but it arrived straight away. All in all a very nice evening meal (although we probably ruined everyone else’s meal because the baby was tired and fed up by the end of it, so my husband took him home before desserts). The staff were all really good, efficient and friendly. The COVID process was explained to us when we sat down and we were politely reminded to sit the little one down when he was getting off his seat. This was done professionally and courteously. We would definitely recommend the Napoleon and will try and make it there again during our stay in Boscastle.

I was told it was all fine and booked in for the following weekend.Arriving at the pub early for a drink I let the staff member know we had arrived and were booked in for Sunday roast. Again all was fine we were told. However when the meal time arrived we were handed a bar meal menu and told that all the roasts had been sold! We explained our disappointment and the staff member went off and spoke to the manageress who just shrugged and w walked off with not a word of explanation offered. Needless to say we said no thanks to the bar meal and went elsewhere. It has spoiled a perception of a place where we have had m any happy visits.

Friendly welcome, but the waitress ignored to help us with the wobbly table, which wasn't easy to fix given the uneven floor!Really not impressed by their food, the falafel burger tasted cumin, that's not a falafel!!! Hardly any crab or any other fish in the Crab linguine and our daughter fish was really undercooked!!!Oh and thank you for having to wash my clothes and rucksack after visiting your place, the white walls left serious stains on my clothes and rucksack!

Lovely pub at the top of Boscastle a way up from the harbour and unfortunately easily missed if you are not looking for it. We googled where to eat in Boscastle before our day trip there and found this pub had good reviews so booked a table. So glad we did! The waitress was so lovely, friendly and very professional despite having to enforce all the new social distancing rules etc. The waitress had blue hair and was a credit to the pub. We had the cod and salmon fish cakes which were delicious and the presentation was so appealing. Great pub experience and would certainly visit again.

We stayed at the Bottreaux guest house which is literally 20 yards away and we ate here four nights out of the seven that we stayed. The food is very good and they have a varied choice on the menu. The pub is "Book Only" due to Covid-19 and there is hand sanitiser on the way in and all the tables are socially distanced. The staff are great and they have the service is very good, plus they have strawberry Absolute vodka...A MUST TRY !!We loved this place and highly recommend it. 5 stars.

Me and my partner went for a Sunday roast and it was amazing. We sat in the sunny courtyard which was very nice. They had hand sanitiser available and a good system post lockdown. The best thing was the food, they gave you loads of yummy roasted veg and potatoes and plenty of gravy, along with a homemade Yorkshire. Also really nice stuffing with beef which you never get but you should! It was great and the best roast we’ve had in ages. Staff were very friendly too.

We had booked a six night break in Boscastle last October before the world changed. We visited the Napoleon Inn three times during our stay. The pub is 16th century but had been adapted well to meet Covid 19 guidance. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food excellent particularly the rump steak and tomato pasta/roasted vegetable dish. Table service for drinks. Well done everyone on getting things up and running!

We stayed in a beautiful cottage 200 yards away from The Napoleon Inn, early March 2020. We booked a table for Sunday Roast, it was absolutely delicious...so much so we all decided to order dessert. We will definitely be back as soon as we are allowed to visit Boscastle again!

The nap is the original boscastle pub, up in the old part of boscastle, it can be a bit of a climb, but the reward is worth it, great atmosphere, food, ale. A must

We just popped in on the off-chance they were doing food - and they were. I had a great falafel burger and a couple of pints of cider and we were good to go. Cosy, comfortable pub.

This is one of the oldest pubs in Boscastle and the food is great. Some of the bar staff not so friendly but look past that and it is a pub to visit. All food is very good and their New Year’s Eve Party is definitely worth going to !!

We visited for lunch, completely unannounced, with our big herding dog and had the most fabulous time here. The lady behind the bar made us feel really welcome, took the time to talk to us and petted our dog- all very appreciated! What astonished us was how good the food was for the price. The chips and onion rings really were to die for. Little touches, such as the black pepper on the clearly homemade chips, and the lovely dressing on the salad, make such a difference. The onion rings were light and crispy and beautifully cooked and seasoned. The only improvement I could suggest would be to use thick-cut high quality bakery bread, as it was the only part of the meal that was less than superb. The building itself is gorgeous and has an interesting history, and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. I could spend many happy hours here whiling away the time, and when I move to the area in the near future, I hope to do so. Many thanks for the lovely time we spent at your pub!

This becomes our local when we visit boscastle this pub is a gem of a place and a must to visit if you go to boscastle, the food is always great and we have got to know the staff and they are always very pleasant and will always go out of there way to help if you need it, me and the wife have tried nearly everything on the menu and we can honestly say it’s always been amazing, they have plenty of live music on throughout the week and the boscastle bouys are always great on a Tuesday evening well worth a visit when they are there cannot fault this pub in any way.

This was a great find, as it was out of season evening restaurants were very limited, only found the pub on our last night in Boscastle. A warm welcome and a great open fire in the eating area. Good selection of food all at reasonable prices.

My friend was left upset tonight, after trying to come in with his dog. He was told no dogs, then he asked if he could sit outside (which I've seen people loads of times with dogs) He was told no, he understood and left. He asked if he could sit outside, there was no response. He then asked if it was because he was black (which he's really black) but the barmaid didn't respond yes or no. If you weren't a racist you'd say no, "it's because we're not allowed dogs in here" instead she just looked at him absolutely disgusted and said nothing. He was really placid and said he gets it all the time. I've lived here for over 20 years but not particularly impressed.

Great family pub owned by Haven. Stunning sea views looking over to St Ives. Huge carpark which is pay and display and free if you are staying in the caravan site. Huge beer garden with lots of seating loads to choose from on the menu and kids eat for only £1 off the kids menu. Sport is regularly played so attracts a diverse amount of people unfortunately this place is closed during the winter inline with the caravan site opening dates. Carpark is still available to use throughout the year.

Got a lovely hot cheese and onion pasty for my lunch. Used my rewards APP. I've also brought a few bacon & cheese turnovers over the past few weeks - cooked perfectly. Lovely friendly staff, lady and Man have served me on several different occasions.
