Nice little pub in the heart of Covent Garden, beautiful interior, had a tasty sausage roll and very nice IPA. Nice bonus is that it's not one of the cookie cutter Nicholson's pubs 😉

I highly recommend it. A traditional pub with good draft beer. The food is also excellent. It has a beer garden for outdoor seating.

I tried to order a vegan sandwich at the place... they asked if I was allergic to any item... I said I was allergic to eggplant... which is NOT described on the burger... they came up with a story that it could have traces of eggplant... even so I wanted to place the order... right after that they said they didn't have the burger for sale... Look for another place to have your meals...

Staff are pretty awesome, foods great, had a good few pints.. Very welcoming.. A stunning, and classic British boozer that sadly we don't see so much of here in Wales anymore.

The best meat pie I've ever had. The steak & ale pie was full of tender chunks of beef. Gravy & mash were just perfect. I was able to add a side of carrots & parnsips as well, which made me very happy. We didn’t have any room for dessert on this visit - maybe next time. Service was quick and attentive.

Well after being turned away with Panda Jr (u18) it was a welcome relief for two weary travellers to flop down in the plush seats and cosy environs of a famously named pub (even if it isn't off of only fools). They have a kids menu and for central London the prices almost bordered on reasonable. This makes it a must visit if you're in need of refreshment in these parts. A clean well lit interior awaits, plenty tables and chairs, and bar staff who are polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. We're happy to answer questions and check for answers to one's they couldn't answer. Hats off to the landlord - they have a well trained team. Food wise the portions are immense and my poor little soldier was defeated by the kids fish chips and peas. I tackled a decent pie that was really rather good. Pint of the house lager and I can confirm it's a decent enough drop. All in all I am very happy to recommend this place and will return next time I'm in the area.

A public house called The Nag's Head has occupied this site on James Street since 1670, so it’s safe to say, there is some history here. Located right at the heart of London's Covent Garden, opposite the London Underground tube. It’s decorated to an old traditional style British pub, with beautiful tiled floors, and coloured glass tiles on the windows. Good choice of food on the menu, something for everyone, you can get a burger, a curry or just a simple sandwich. No parking, obviously, it’s Covent Garden. Massive choice of wines, beers and spirits, all at “london prices” but no higher than expected. The outside is the Nags Head, featured in the TV comedy show Only Fools and Horses, so if it looks familiar that is why!

Company Reunion with 80 People - Perfect Venue ! I recently hosted a company reunion in the upstairs Sapphire Room of the Nag's Head for 80 people which was perfect. Excellent communication before the event from Maria and Will - made sure everything was taken care of and the night went very smoothly. Lots of great feedback on the food (platter buffet + desserts). Easy to reach location - heart of covent Garden, great sized venue which with 80 people had a lovely atmosphere. We'll be back next year!

This is one of my favorite pubs in the city both for its location (Covent Garden) and its ambience. Large selection of beers and other drinks. Good prices.

Me and my family booked a table here before we went to the theatre. The staff were lovely and very attentive. I had the trio of pie's and they were lovely, the cheddar cheese, potato and leek pie was my favourite and I loved the gravy. The prawn cocktail was pretty standard but the tomato and basil soup was lovely and so was the sourdough crumpet rarebit. Me and my mother in law enjoyed the pinot grigio and me and my daughter had a perfect pornstar martini.

After a couple of drinks downstairs, went upstairs to eat. Quiet restaurant atmosphere, attentive service and very good food. You have to give it a go if you're in the area.

Great food (pies, fish & chips and pasta - all top!) and a great atmosphere. Special praise to Alana and Kacy - super friendly, attentive and simply great waiters. We'd love to come back!

Would Like to add that my rating is based on the fact that we only stayed for one drinkand had no food, so I'd say this is a very good rating.

We went to eat here by chance. We received such a warm welcome from Maria! She is a hard worker with a passion for the catering profession. Ate an English pie for the first time. A tasting of 3 flavors. How wonderful that was. Especially the one filled with meat. If I come back to London I will definitely go back here. And Maria, your smile and your 'being' makes every guest feel welcome.

El pub es muy agradable con un buen ambiente. Comimos arriba en el restaurante y los dos tenían pollo, jamón y pastel de fugas y puré. Fue horrible. Sabía como si se hubiera calentado en un microondas. La pastelería era suave y desagradable (como lo sería si se calentara en un microondas) y la carne dentro del pastel era muy escasa. El pastel había sido desplumado encima de la pequeña cantidad de puré de patata extrañamente pegajoso y el brócoli duro estaba debajo de todo. La salsa parecía que se había calentado más en algunos lugares que en otros, lo que le daba un aspecto extraño. Sin duda volveré a visitar el pub para tomar algo de nuevo, pero no voy a comer. Qué pena.

Upstairs there was lots of room even though downstairs was crowded out. We had some nachos for a snack they were nice but nothing outstanding. Be careful they add a 10% service charge automatically and when you pay the card machine also asks for a tip. So it's very easy to accidentally double tip.

Hemos estado en el Nags Head en muchas ocasiones para comer y beber. Es un gran pub el ambiente también es bueno. El personal es amable y la comida es buena y a un precio razonable. Hemos estado visitando desde el verano y siempre tenemos comida y bebida en el gran jardín del pub en la parte trasera, que es muy agradable. Hay un DJ e incluso logramos tener un baile anoche en la pista de baile. Recomiendo para una visita.

Este pub fue la primera parada de nuestro viaje de reunión escolar. Es parte de la cadena de pubs McMullen. Estaba deseando tener una o dos pintas de su AK Mild, que no había tenido durante más de 30 años después de dejar mi ciudad natal. Es bastante pequeño y el día que visitamos no había ningún AK disponible, lo que fue decepcionante - sin embargo McMullens eran muy sensibles y serviciales cuando les planteé esto. Sin embargo, el amargo alternativo era bastante sabroso. No pude ver ninguna señal para un inodoro para discapacitados y el caballero está bajando una larga escalera empinada.

Fuimos aquí para una cena pre-teatro temprano y esto funcionó muy bien. Es un lugar conveniente para el distrito de teatros. Dicho esto, está completamente mimado para elegir entre pubs y restaurantes por aquí.

We popped in here after an amazing day wandering around Covent Garden. Its a really lovely venue, plenty of space so not too crowded like some of the older pubs in the area. Its a Mc Mullens pub the perfect stop before getting on the tube which is situated directly opposite

I visited on Saturday as a group of 6 people, after seeing a show in Central London. The time was roughly 9.30pm when my boyfriend and I headed outside for a cigarette. Whilst outside, we shared a quick kiss (it's worth pointing out at this point that my boyfriend and I are both male). Then, when we tried to head back into the pub to join our friends the bouncer denied our entry due to "inappropriate behaviour". When we asked the bouncer exactly what it was that we had done that was inappropriate, he was unable to answer the question and kept stumbling over his words, whilst just explaining that we could not re-enter and that we had been "inappropriate". We asked the bouncer to speak to the manager - he said we were not allowed to, however said that we could come inside to collect our belongings. When we got back inside the pub, our group of friends (2 x straight couples) couldn't believe that we had to leave the pub and demanded to speak to the bar staff. After talking to the 2 straight men in our group, the bar staff then ensured that we could remain within the pub and eventually the bouncer came to apologise to my boyfriend and I. We declined his apology and further requested to know what we did which was so "inappropriate". He still couldn't answer. It's shocking & gross to see a how such a popular establishment in one of the most cosmopolitan areas in London can be so openly homophobic, especially in this day and age. It was super disappointing and sad - this event had quite an impact on our night.

Very busy when we visited but centre of London so it's what you'd expect.

Real old traditional English pub

Still a "proper" London pub, with a great atmosphere. 4 of us went there yesterday evening, and went upstairs for a meal. My wife has Coeliac Disease, we checked in advance if there was a gluten free option, there was. When we saw the gluten free menu, we were pleasantly surprised, it was very comprehensive. The staff were great, very helpful and attentive. The food was excellent. All in all, we had a wonderful time. Thank you all at the Nags Head.

One of the upstairs bar staff was rude and didn’t seem bothered in in acknowledging us as customers.

A good pub close to Covent Garden; I got “Steak & Ale Pie” and I liked it. The cider wasn't bad and the cost was low. From the second floor you can enjoy a beautiful view.

We book a large group for an evening meal at the Nags Head on the strength of our last accidental visit where the food and service was 5 stars plus. Sadly this time the service and food was extremely lacking. The service was very haphazard. We were seated incorrectly and had to move. The food was OK, but not a patch on our first visit hence the low rating.

Busy pub opposite Covent Garden tube station. The dining area is upstairs, and the bar is downstairs. Eaten here once before and enjoyed my meal very much. I've been in since for a drink, and although very busy, I managed to get served fairly quickly. There is a good choice of beers here.

Came for the first time upstairs nice seated area staff were excellent we had 2 pints of IPA half cider and espresso Martini Fish and Chips very big and Steak pie food was delicious will be back.

One employee didn't know what he was doing and the other was incredibly unfriendly. Full English was good, pancakes for breakfast tasted like they came straight from the freezer, dry and sometimes hard. 6 people £80 Breakfast tea/coffee

The restaurant is above this thriving west end pub. Good seating an great service at reasonable prices. The food was excellent.

Nice spacious pub in Covent Garden with a wide range of food and drinks. On our visit, late on a Saturday evening, staff were very unpleasant and unprofessional. Woman that served (Dark hair, hispanic / latino looking) was talking to someone the whole time whilst pouring our drinks, then just dumped the card machine on to the bar whilst walking off and carried on with her conversation. Returned to collect the machine, no acknowledgement whatsoever, utter rudeness and we certainly made our feelings felt. 2nd round served by possibly the Landlord / Manager....beers poured in to glasses (Not completely full to brim), only to be issued 2 minutes later with plastic glasses and told we need to pour our drinks in to them. 🤷🏼‍♂️ A real shame but then it's not known as a "Local" to retain regular custom so there's probably no interest of customer service.

Used this as a meeting point when coming out of Covent Garden station. As you come out the station it is opposite side to the right corner. Convenient location had a couple of drinks with friends.

The service awful. They told us there weren't available tables when actually the restaurant was half empty. 15 min waiting for one. Then we ordered 2 fish and chips, 30 min of waiting cause they "forgot" the note. When we finished the dish we wanted some dessert, guess what? It was too late, cause the kitchen was closed. A shame as the place is nice but the employees fair unqualified. Ohh and they have mainly Spanish and Italian beers. Wtf??

Visited for an early pre-theatre dinner, the central location in Covent Garden just across from the underground station makes The Nags Head perfect for this. We were seated upstairs in the dining room and table service was provided. We ordered the fish and chips and a pie. Meals arrived quickly and were very good. The drinks selection is extensive and has something for everyone. It got increasingly busy over the course of the evening and walk-ins were being turned away so I'd suggest making a reservation like we did. Keep in mind there is a £10 deposit if you reserve online and they credit this against your bill, just be sure to check this as initially they didn't include it and we had to get it adjusted, they were very apologetic and I think it was an honest mistake. All in all an enjoyable traditional pub experience in the heart of the action. Would recommend!

Stopped here for a spot of lunch. I had the beef pie, chunky chips and gravy, my partner had the sausage and mash. Both portions were excellent in both size and flavour. Staff (Stella and Alby) were friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food. We almost missed out as the pub (downstairs) was very busy but we discovered the dining room upstairs. If you're in the area it's well worth popping in!

A complete shame! These guys forgot to put forward our order with an empty restaurant. After 30 minutes we asked and only then they realised it. We asked to do it asap and after 20 minutes no food had arrived. We were forced to leave the place and they didn’t even apologise! I completely discourage you to go there. Waiters are an absolute joke and don’t give a damn about their customers.

Cosy, warm atmosphere, friendly helpful staff. First impression was of an old pub, (which we liked) and when the food came out it was beautiful highly recommended the Sunday roast, we didn't have a sides and we were pleased we didn't as we were full.

Sunday this weekend at the nags head was lovely, great pub, beautiful roast beef and the staff were absolutely brilliant, especially Maria, she made feel so welcome and her knowledge of the menu was extensive. If you find yourself in Covent Garden the Nags Head is a must visit

I ordered 2 Irish coffees, 1 cup ok, the second one was half filled, I didn't even taste the whiskey, the bartender just offered to add more coffee for £23, a shame.
