Wow! Genuinely one of the best pies I’ve ever had AND with a pint for £12! Great ale choice and such a lovely atmosphere. Proper dropped on a quintessential Yorkshire boozer on our walk around Dam Flask. Will certainly look to return.

Booked a table and although it wasn't busy we were kept waiting for ages after food had been ordered. Food was extremely disappointing in fact I've had much better food (and a lot cheaper) food in transport cafes.

Became unwell along with 4 other of our party after Sunday lunch last weekend at the Nags Head. A real shame as the staff are so lovely and so is the pub & beer. I had heard so much good about the food here too but it is the only place that we had all met and eaten at. Hoping this happens to no one else

What a local.... would be proud and a regular attendee if this was my local... not a vast menu but the dishes they serve are beautiful... Good varied drinks menu... including a beautiful Slo Gin and light Stout.... we'll be back.

Having spent a week in a nearby AirBnB we've visited nearly every evening. Such friendly staff and locals, excellent food and a great selection of beers, plus very reasonable prices. A great little pub.

It is a really friendly country pub supplying local ales and down to earth lovely food.Would definitely recommend

Food is lovely, kids always ask to come here for their tea and the sticky toffee pudding comes highly you recommended by my 7 year old son! The sharing bowl is my favourite but the pie firmly remains the hubbys choice.

Very disappointing steak pie which was a 4cm slab of cardboard pastry with 8 chunks of the hardest, overcooked steak I have ever seen. Good job I was very hungry and have good teeth otherwise I wouldn't have eaten it. Our meal was further soured by the bar maid's inability to smile. When she begrudgingly asked if we needed her to bring anything else I nearly said "A smile". In addition, another member of bar staff attempted to hand over enough cutlery to restock their stock on the condiments table. Funnily enough we declined to accept this unpaid labour. Also, don't go to lunch too starving. Portions mediocre. However, pub looked very popular at lunchtime on a Saturday. I must assume the beer's good

Staff made me feel very at ease / welcome (which is just what I needed as unbeknownst to them it was my first venture into a pub *on my own*) Prices were decent and the food was exceptional!

Normally go to old horns but struggled to park so tried here and glad we did! Only down side was smoking is allowed outside / undercover area not great really especially when we had our little one with Us. On Sundays in my experience the pies don’t seem fresh , the meat is very hard and chewy.

Used to be our go to place for pies and pints but food offer unfortunately seems to have gone down hill rapidly. Previous visit arrived hungry only to be informed no kitchen staff on. This time the meat pies were inedible and the prices have gone up alarmingly

The locals congregate around the bar with their dogs, making it really difficult to get past. They seem resentful when you try to pass them, making you feel like an outsider trying to get in for a drink.

Popped in for my usual pint or two and had a delicious beef sandwich and chips . Absolutely delicious. They usually do food Thursday to Sunday now, so was delighted to see they were doing snacks during the Easter holiday. The beef was delicious, best Iv had for sometime . Perfect with the Brown Cow Ale . Delicious thank you

Beer is always good...BUT...unbelievably, the new menu does not include traditional sandwiches...had to make do with crappy Walls sausage sandwich ...on sliced bread !!

Great little pub, pies are always fabulous. Very meaty and tasty. Always welcoming staff and friendly . We had the roast ham and stuffing pie this week, it was delicious! Bar staff excellent and efficient. Little gem of a place we love to visit weekly .

Just been to nags head after a lovely walk around Bradfield had a roast ham and sage stuffing pie and steak and ale pie plus a pint good selection of pies on offer lovely welcoming pub staff are all great nice roaring fire after a lovely walk well done Sam for keeping the fire going while we was they

We attended a whiskey tasting here this week and it was fantastic. Joshua hosted the evening in a professional, friendly manner wowing us all with his knowledge. A great time had by all.

Went last night with my son Had the Steak and Ale pie and chips ,I’m 62 had a few pies in my life lol but this was the best The staff were very kind and helpful,Dont hesitate to visit

Terrible food. They should be ashamed to serve this. The menu only contains a couple of choices, which is not a problem. The steak in the steak pie was dry and hard and had been reheated at least once, hence it was completely inedible. We had visited for their Pie and a Pint lunch numerous times before the pub was refurbished and were not surprised that the prices had gone up considerably, at £12 for pie and pint it’s still reasonable value. But the quality was ridiculously poor. They did knock £9 off our £48 bill. We will not be going back and would advise anyone going there to immediately send their meal back if it doesn’t look good. We should have done that. Instead we will just never go back.

If it weren't for the fact that we got milk instead of coffee, it would have been perfect. Despite this incident, I leave a good review. The food is good, the desserts are recommended, but the coffee, which we received after a considerable delay, was not good anyway. Nice service.

Great country pub, local beers, real fire etc.

Was recommended to pay the Nags Head a visit by my son who's been previously. All five of our party loved our home made pies and the value for money of the pie and pint deal! The Londoners amongst the party were visibly shocked at the excellent beers being only £3 a pint.

Food service is very disorgsnised....no cutlery. We had our clearly unfinished meals taken away and then received a lot of attitude when we asked for food back. Staff all appear to be 15 years old and act as such. Beer is cheap with a good choice, patrons are sexist, grumpy old men. The pies are pretty good, chips spot on and the peas a bit watery.

Love this place. Great value, about £3 for most pints and all Bradfield Brewery gorgeous beers!

This pub is 5 star all round . Food brilliant .

Bradfield Brewery beer is fantastic and the pie, chips and peas devine. Finish off with some treacle sponge and custard for the perfect meal out. There's also a snooker table and oodles of outdoor seating, much of it under cover with space heaters. I should also mention the excellent service. Great pub!!! Update Nov 2023 Another fantastic meal, and still very good value. Very accommodating of our dog who joined us this time! There was quite a wait in-between courses, but we weren't in a rush so a very enjoyable lunch.

A gr8 local pub and meeting place

First time we've been since a change of management. Place looks tidier, good atmosphere and quiz was entertaining and well thought out. Beer cheaper than other places but still very good. They have also kept the pie and pint deal.

Didn't eat but had a pint of Yorkshire farmers ale. Very good pint 6 others on pump from Bradfield Brewery just up the road

Very nice establishment selling tasty home cooked food and excellent quality locally brewed ales. Had a lovely evening their with the family. Staff made us really welcome too ! Update 02.05.22 : went back for first time since before wretched covid. Still good. Update on 22.08.23...had another excellent meal there to-night.

Excellent staff and service for party of 27. All organised by email for a family get together. Lunch was pre-ordered which is quite sensible.

Food and services are always excellent as we have come to expect from the Nags Head . Fairly priced with a reasonable selection of beer available . Outdoor seating is available but this pub is also dog friendly . Perfect for walkers/hikers .

Our local and we are glad it is! We would come every week if we could and occasionally we do. Good value for money food and beer! Think a pie & pint has just increased to £12. Good homely heart pie, loads of gravy, peas and chips! Topped with a bradfield brewery beer which are all lovely! My personal favourite is steak and Stilton but I’ve had them all multiple times! Cajun chips are also very good for when you fancy just a beer and bowl while out walking or just a quick one! Very local pub, normally see the same people and it’s very friendly. The more dogs the merrier also 😃 Only thing I think would be good… to stock Our Cow Molly ice cream as you can basically see their farm and it would be a good local combo! Plus would save me walking up the hill 😉

We went for Sunday lunch Booked in and we got seated early We all ordered Sunday roast Then we had a 55 min wait for the food to be delivered to the table as they were serving all the other non bookings firstly We would have had a dessert but we got told it would be yet another 40+ min wait as they only had one chef on If the food hadn't been so nice it would have had a lower score But the front of house staff were polite and friendly

Bustling and friendly multi roomed boozer, somewhat off the beaten path. Awesome selection of Bradfield beers.

Smashing pub, great staff. The bar staff went above and beyond when our taxi failed to turn up.

We go here at least twice a week mostly for drinks, but we do have the pie every couple of weeks and meet friends for food. How ever to day was a sad day not only has the price gone up but the size has gone down you couldn't rea see any pastry on the pies. We had 3 pies and a Sunday dinner. The quality is good but from what we had last week to this was disappointing. We did mention when asked if everything was ok our disappointment to two people, but didn't get an explanation for the lack of pie. So will only be drinking her from now on.

Popped in to the Nags head for lunch after a local walk. It was very busy at the bar & lots of people sat on the under cover outdoor area, enjoying a pint of Bradfield brewery. We picked up a menu, and there was also a specials board. The queue went down very fast, and the service was great. I noticed a new beer on pump & was offered a taster, which was lovely. The food arrived prompt & was tasty and filling. A definite revisit next time we're walking in the area again!

Pe booked a meal at this venue and I must say the food was very good. Not your usual pre made and microwave stuff. Decent meat and fresh tasty vegetables , Everyone enjoyed there main course and pudding that along with a excellent selection of beers made a enjoyable afternoon.

Brilliant food but very slow service

Been here for lunch today. A pie and a pint, amazing value, gorgeous food, lovely staff and the best beer. The landlord was very friendly, gave us beer mats and fridge magnets. Thank you. We will be back. Lovely local pub in a great area. Went last year too. Deborah booked for1pm. 👏🎄😘

My family and friends went for a Christmas meal but found the landlord to be very abrupt and passive aggressive in his tone when serving us our food and drinks. As I understand, this landlord has just taken over but he will be losing regular customers if he continues with this same attitude, he put a real dampener on the Christmas spirit.

The Stout is absolutely gorgeous!

Amazing pub! Pie and a pint for £10 - can't go wrong at all but then, when the pint is superb and it's a proper homemade pie it's just amazing!

We had a dinner at Nags while on holiday in the area. Staff members friendly enough, this a locals pub, not very touristy, so they will serve you and leave you alone, which is perfect for us. Food arrived quickly and turned out much better than we were expecting. My partner tried some local beer that he enjoyed very much. We had a pleasant meal at a very affordable price, what's not to like. If you are 'foodie' or fussy you may want to go somewhere else. We had a very good idea what we will be getting and to be fair it was much better than expected. Good, hearty, pub meal, perfect for us.

This is a brilliant pub. All the food is local produce and most of the beers are Bradfield Brewery which is very good. At £2.50 a pint is probably the cheapest around. All of the staff are friendly and helpful and it’s a pretty decent crowd that gets in. We love this place and come here often. Definitely recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Was walking close by so decided to visit here unannounced on Sunday lunchtime. Decided on the steak and ale pie and pint for £8.50. 3 Pies to choose from and also a choise of chips and mushys or mash and veg. Can't go wrong! Super yummy and warming, steak pieces large and tender. Only negative the plate was swamped with gravy, not everybody's cup of tea, maybe better in a jug? Also cider not included in the offer but a handful of ales to choose from. I enjoyed the Farmers blonde. Cute and cosey, friendly locals and very good value for money.

Really friendly staff/owners, who put on a barrel of seasonal beer just for our group as we said we'd heard of it. Very reasonable prices with good old fashioned service (free sandwiches offered round towards the end of the evening). Always a good pint too.

Great pub near Damflask Reservoir. Food is all home made and delicious,and the offer a pie Meal and a pint for under a tenner. Great value and super quick service too.Car park has been converted into outdoor eating area , but Cara can still park on the road. Great way to relax after a walk round the reservoir 🍺👍

Great place for a decent pie and pint meal the burgers are top notch also, can't beat the price of the beer anywhere locally either at £2.50 or there abouts for a pint lovely place to call if you have been walking around dam flask or the surrounding area...
