This place is a gem. A warm, welcoming, inclusive vibe and amazing beer selection. Looking forward to trying what looks like a great food menu next time.

This how how pubs are meant to be! Clearly a very authentic, non corporate type boring pub like so many you get these days. Grimy and lived in in a good way...like your favourite pair of old tracksuit bottoms. Beautiful exterior too if you take the time to look. Their Rutine dish is probably one of the greatest things I've ever eaten!

One of my favorite spots in Sheffield, boasting excellent beers, exceptional food at a great price, and a friendly eclectic atmosphere! Service is always brilliant and friendly too. My only points for improvement would be replacing the old benches in the rear beer garden as they are a tad bit rickety these days and perhaps suggest some ambient music in the beer garden!

I visit every few weeks or so for the steak sarni, which is brilliant! The beer choices are great if a bit over priced! Staff sometimes leave ya stood for a while until they've finished their conversation with regulars! Really bloody annoying 😑 once attention is gained 🙄 ya get treated well. Atmosphere, sometimes a bit stuck up, otherwise mostly friendly. Just need to adjust my Yorkshire accent and dress sense to fit in!

Sat in the beer garden for an hour or so and enjoyed the plumage of the trees, the fig tree is especially beautiful! Great service and good vibes all round 👌🏿

Probably one of the better pubs in Sheffield. Nice vibes, great service and good food. Most important is wide selection of different ales, bitter and beer.

Saturday 29th June 2024 This pub near Sheffield train station is an essential visit for real ale drinkers to drink in when in Sheffield tonight. This proper victoriana real ale pub had a plethora of really good small brewery real ales on hand pumps there was a lively feel in here with the customers mainly real ale drinkers a good background music and good bar staff added to this pubs feeling of goodness

Excellent range of quality beer. Nice also to find a pub with a duke-box. Unfortunately, though, said duke-box comes with a very long list of banned bands and tunes - which are not played but you are still charged for if you select having not fully scrutinised the extensive list. With such musical prescriptivism it makes you wonder why have a duke-box at all and not just take charge of your own playlist. When asked about the ban list, staff were miserable, snobby, defensive and dismissive. It was very strange to find such hostility/inhospitality in what otherwise would be an outstanding pub.

What a great pub. Superb choice of beers and lunch was superb. I had the chip butte and it was perfect. Staff were very friendly and the whole place felt Tory unfriendly. Perfect.

In Sheffield for the first time, worked in beer and breweries and pubs and taps for a really long time so when I asked for recommendations for Sheffield I got an overwhelming response from my fellow beer nerds about this place. What they failed to mention was not only do they have a vast, eclectic, and high quality beer list, but they also have a wonderful inclusive and fun atmosphere..and INCREDIBLE food. I only wish I could pick this place up and pop it down in my own Bristol neighbourhood. What a pub! Absolutely fantastic. If I could give it more stars I bloody would

I've never put on any of the "forbidden music" yet it keeps getting skipped. Bro is over here skipping vengaboys and spice girls??? Ach but in all seriousness, a bit student-poisoned for me but still ok. A nice pub with great beers, chill staff, and nice food, but very studenty and can get extremely busy - so come early. I've found myself coming here less and less recently because of this.

And If You Are Into Very Fine Craft Beer And Cider They Change There Drinks Every Fortnight So More More More To Try Dogs Are Also Allowed And The Beer Garden Is Great And The Bar Looks Like The One From The Queen Vic In Eastenders. Also It Near The Showroon Cinema Synonymous woth Arthouse And Indie Cinema And And Special Q&A Screenings. Also Rutland Arms is Near The Really Great Sidney & Matilda Nightclub That has Showcases Up And Coming Bands From Everywhere Not Just Yorkshire

Visited because of a recommendation, maybe because it was match day, but service took a long time, the lady serving was polite (and that was the best part of the visit) - the place looks tired, the beer "garden" needs retitling "empty barrels yard!" and needs a complete overhaul. Didn't finish my stout, wife didn't finish her wine. We will visit again (recommender normally gets it right) when back in Sheffield and hope we caught them on a bad day

Very friendly pub. Can be busy inside, but usually space in the Beer Garden which is very nice in warm weather. Always an interesting range of beers on tap. Food is available to order at times throughout the day. Restrooms are also worth a visit! 😜

After walking with frirends around the center of Sheffield we adjourned to the Rutland Arms for a couple of beers. The pub is definitely old school with an old-fashioned décor and somewhat down at heel ambiance (the carpet it the give away). But the beer is great, the pub although having music does not prevent conversation and so it is a pleasant experience. To cap it all the chip butty was outstanding. I will probably return the next time that I am in Sheffield

I bloody love the Rutland. My favourite pub in Sheffield. Always an interesting range of beer on both cask and keg. The food is of a quality so much higher than you will find in any pub. The place has bags of character. The decor, the jukebox rules and the funny little jokes they have...that mostly confuse customers but I expect make the staff laugh at our baffled faces.

Best Sunday dinner in Sheffield. Absolute gem in the city centre.

We had 3 drinks in here on a Friday afternoon. It's a brilliant, old fashioned pub with lots of different beers and ales. A friendly pub with a mix of different ages of clients.

Ate here last night. Had halibut in cider & leek cream sauce with mash and vegetables. My partner had a pork chop in a mustard sauce. Finished off with a beautiful chocloate/ice cream desert. All were well presented and tasted delicious. The craft ale drinks were so excellent too. On leaving I thanked the bar persons and told them I'd possibly see them in another 5yrs as we actually live in the West Midlands and were just on a short trip to Sheffield. I mean the food and drink here was fantastic. We've dined in places like MPW in B'ham and it's not as good as this!

This is an awesome little place, I've never seen it not busy! Great selection of beers and the food is lovely too! It is small, so getting a table isn't always easy, but there is a large outdoor area, some of which is covered.

Don't like the political views posters etc

Absolute extremes of culinary excellence and appalling decor. A juxtaposition that is a marvel to behold. Well worth a visit.

It's definitely a good place to quench the first,although sometimes the prices can be a little more than some of the other real ale pubs,bars in Sheffield. Saying that,great service,good place to chill,From what I hear, the food is really good.and the pub itself is,really cool

I honestly can't work out the reviews on here. Really confused. I've not been here for 10+ years. I decided to visit the pub again because of the reviews. The welcome wasn't great, the service wasn't great too, and the place really needs a clean. Sorry but I will have to leave it for another 10+ years before I return.

Proper pub! Real ales on offer, think 6 hand pumps with differing styles and sourced from around the country. Craft beer as well in a friendly atmosphere.

A country pub in the city. Such a lovely pub and one of the best in Sheffield. They always have an interesting and varied selection of beers. The staff are great and very dog friendly. They always bring out some meat for our dog which he loves, or course! There's plenty of outdoor seating and in the winter it's nice and cozy inside. I've not had the pleasure of eating here yet but the ”Rutty Butty" is famous and the food always looks appetising. Highly recommended!

A great pub with more character than dozens of chain pubs put together. Interesting range of cask and craft beer and good food which mixes classics with the slightly more adventurous.It's clear they love what they do. Well worth a visit.

Brilliant old school style real pub serving a huge selection of fine beers of many different varieties. Has been about 10 yrs in-between visits for me unfortunately but I'm pleased to report it is still as good as I remember.

There are fewer and fewer boozers that have that selection of ales. This is a place to be applauded.

A great corner pub, off the main drag. A superb range of ales and ciders, quality pub food, juke box and good atmosphere. A must stop off for anyone sampling Sheffield's better boozers.

Iy a proper boozer with great beers and staff. It's a traditional city centre pub that caters for everyone and thankfully, it hasn't changed in years.

Very disappointed I have never been served by such a rude person. This is a good pub but one of the bar staff tonight seriously let it down, from being dismissive about not having any cold alcohol free beers to actually laughing in my face when I asked if they were still serving roast dinners. Despite being told a few minutes earlier that they were serving food until 6pm they just stated at 5:15 that the kitchen was closed. When I asked why they offhandedly said the kitchen had run out of food. A simple apology would have been all it took but no. Again such rudeness is just unbelievable and lets this otherwise great place down sorely.
