Tonight was our first time dining at The Nags Head. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting. The staff, including the landlady were absolutely charming. The food was delicious!

Very good service but mediocre food

Took a trip out with my mum for one of her mother day presents and on the way back decided to pop in the nags head Stapleton. Very clean and friendly staff. Had a fish chips and peas dinner . Very tasty and very fresh . Looking at others eating no one dish looked bad. Definitely going there again soon

The Sunday lunch was freshly made, very tasty and we thought grest value. Service was prompt. Really enjoyed it.

After reading great reviews my wife and I had breakfast at the Nags Head but it was disappointing as my wife didn't enjoy it at all because the eggs were undercooked. Parts of the egg white were clear and gooey just as a raw egg is before cooking. We aren't the kind of people to cause a fuss and we thanked the staff but I don't think that we will be going back for breakfast in the future.

Ordered lasagne. Veggi and meat option. Tasted ok but dish more of a pasta bake. Very small portion size, the meal made more by a good potion if chips and garlic Bread and side salad. Guess it depends what your used to having chips with a side of pasta bake . Or pasta bake with a side of fries.

My son called ahead as I’m not well at the moment and we required soft seating. The lady was very helpful. When we arrived our table had been reserved and extra cushions were placed in our seating area. I was blown away and so thankful. Service was exceptional and food also very good. Will definitely return here . Thank you 🙏

It was good service, but I watched a few people leave as it was busy, took over 40 minutes for the food Maybe you need a front of house to keep people happy but the two young staff worked hard

Really strange experience at the Nags head. Had to wait 15 minutes for the chap behind the bar to find the lunch menu. Ordered 3 baguettes that never arrived, requested a refund after waiting nearly an hour. Didn’t receive an apology from any of the staff. Would definitely not recommend & will not be returning

Food was very good portion sizes are huge, they seem a tad short staffed with staff prioritising cleaning empty tables instead of seating people or cleaning away main courses and taking dessert orders can be a bit loud especially due to the pub part being open to the restaurant part but over all a good place to go.

Mother in law’s birthday last weekend so family meal was booked for Sunday lunchtime and everyone had a great time with Sunday lunch and drinks at great prices and quality food, time spent in the garden afterwards on a lovely day

The food was decent and the staff were friendly and attentive. The menu is rather small but l think it caters to most people's wants for pub food. The only tiny issue is the play equipment in the beer garden looks like it desperately needs replacing.

Not the best experience booked a table for the evening went in no greeting then a women said sit anywhere, eventually a young girl came to the table we asked what drinks there was and she replied" I don't know Anything " Came to order meals no rump steaks ran out only 7pm. Meals came they were OK Because you are open to the bar areahad to listen to some blokes f-ing and blinding as we ate. In the end had to go to the bar to get the bill. If you want a nice evening meal give the Nags a miss.

Exactly the kind of pub I'd come back to again and again if I was local - cracking honest food (the vegan cottage pie was so delicious I had to check I'd not ordered the meat one 😂), lovely service, good solid drinks. A good value for money pub. Good choice from the set menu given the current circumstances. Well organised for social distancing rules and staff friendly and welcoming. The best sitting area is in the front section of the pub.

Visited today for our first Sunday dinner at the nags. We had eaten before during the week and after tasting that menu we thought we definitely needed to try the Sunday menu. We weren’t disappointed! My beef was absolutely incredible, as was my partners turkey, not to mention the broccoli and stilton soup of the day. Both waitresses who served us were very attentive and polite. We may have found our new local for Sunday lunch. And 2 courses for under £15.00 just made it even better! As a restaurant this place is bang on, but also just as somewhere for a drink in the garden or the beautifully decorated pub. Thanks a bunch and we’ll see you again very soon!

Stumbled in after a trip to the nearby water park. Sensible distancing in place and a cosy atmosphere. In all honesty the welcome and service nearly had me walk out unserved. It’s not big and was definitely not overrun. Very, very glad we didn’t leave. The food is fantastic. Some of the best pub food I’ve ever eaten. The chips were possibly the best I’ve had anywhere and it’s unbelievably good value. I’d go again in a heart beat but hoping the service was down to a bad day at the office.

I arranged our wedding anniversary surprise lunch here and I could not have been happier with the results- I asked for our favorite foods and they were cooked to perfection and the Black Forest cake home made for us was to die for - nothing was too much trouble and l can say it was one of the best eating out experiences we have had - thank you for a great day and we will be back soon for another similar experience

There was five of us having lunch at the Nags on Saturday, it was as always very good home cooked food , the staff are great cant do enough for you very friendly, the social distancing was in place & we felt very safe , thank you for a really lovely time & beautiful food ,cant wait to go back

I meet up with my aunt who has recently moved out this way and we, and the family, can’t here for lunch. It is well prepared for the latest epidemic, with a one way system and hand sanitiser.Originally I think we were all just going to have sandwiches but the lunch menu is incredible, so we went large. Steak and faggots being the clinchers. We had a long wait but the women (I imagine the owner) was on her own and it did seem overly busy for a Thursday lunchtime.Excellent food and she did apologise fo wait. Definitely a nice place to go when this part of the country.

First Sunday Lunch out in such a long time... on arrival the guidelines are easy to follow and understand. Hand sanitizers are placed at the correct places . The staff explain how things work and what will happen during your meal. The food was delicious as usual. The one way system worked well. All in all Jane,Dawn,Hannah,Sammy and the team are working so very hard to help us feel safe and comfortable in these uncertain times we live in at this time. Had a most enjoyable 3 course lunch. Great value and quality. I liked the recent refurbishment; giving the pub a fresh and contemporary look but still retaining its charm and character. I also felt totally comfortable with their covid safe arrangements; such as hand sanitiser, one way system, table service and ample spaces between the tables. Our host Hannah was excellent. Great experience I will be returning soon.

Had the most excellent Sunday lunch takeaway from the Nags head. The food was beyond gorgeous. The portion sizes were as good as always and the cost was good, it was certainly better than having all the hassle of cooking it yourself. Well Worth waiting for lockdown to end.

This little gem of a pub is just amazing the staff are wonderful the chef is amazing the food is the best we have had in a long time the starters were very tasty the Brie & cranberry was great, the beef just melts in your mouth, great size portions, stuffed to bursting but had to have the treacle pudding mmmm yummy. Having past this pub numerous times we decided to book Sunday lunch for 4pm. It speaks for the quality of the food when they are still full at that time and we had to wait for our table. the food appeared to be all home cooked with huge yorkshires and carrots of all shapes and sizes. The staff were freindly and helpful and we will definately be returning.

A good relaxing atmosphere combined with pretty much the entire cast of Animal Farm on the food menu makes for a cracking meal out! I personally opted for the garlic mushrooms feat. decorative side salad followed by the Katsu chicken burger - suffice to say cutlery was needed to ensure I wasn’t wearing 40% of the meal by the end, but it was delicious! Quite a fan of the rectangular plate selection, but I am easily pleased when it comes to tableware.This was topped off by a pint from the cornucopia of available ales. All in all good food, good service and a reasonable price.

This is a perfect place for a Sunday lunch, the staff were really friendly and helpful. We were glad we had made reservations as it got really busy around 1pm. The food was absolutely fantastic and there was lots of it and very reasonably priced. A great friendly relaxed atmosphere where you’re not rushed. Will definitely be going back.

After recommendations by a number of a number of people, we took a friend to Sunday lunch here recently.Although our reservation had been ‘lost’ the manager recovered the situation well and found us a table. Service was quick, the food was very good value and the drinks were also good (a good selection of real ales, and a well-priced offer on wine by the bottle).Service afterwards was a little disappointing - empty glasses need removing quickly, for example - probably due to the pressure of the numbers in the restaurant and bar and the relative inexperience of some of the staff.However, this is a very promising addition to the range of quality pub restaurants in the area and the new management deserve every success.

We decided to give the nags head a try after reading excellent things about the place in the hinckley times. We walked in and was welcomed with a smile needless to say that made us feel very comfortable.

I booked a table for 2 for Sunday lunch and was advised to book outside of a 12.30 - 2.30 window as there was a large party there at that time, so I booked for 3pm.

Village public house on main road. Real ales available. Wide menu choice. Food is good and service is friendly but slow.

The nags head have had several owners been closed for a time reopened several months ago so we decided to go there on our wedding anniversary and I’m very surprised it was good and the staff was great service good it was a Wednesday which was pie night which we did not know and it was very good will go back again and yes I would recommend the nags head

Came for lunch with friends, we all had the 2 courses for £10 deal, 2 had fish and chips 2 had cottage pie plus desert or starter, all were generous portions, and good value, and friendly staff, would recommend

We visited for Fathers Day. Our roast dinners were very nice, there was plenty of it and all very well cooked. My personal preference would be the addition of cauliflower cheese!. My only criticism is that I ordered the profiteroles and chocolate pot for desert and was very disappointed that I only received one profiterole. For £5.50 I would have expected multiple to be served. It was gone in 10 seconds and had to leave all the chocolate sauce. I did mention it to the waitress but she just seemed to laugh it off. We also waited ages for our bill after asking for it and ended up having to go to the bar to pay and even then we had to wait again unnecessarily. Unfortunately we left feeling a little disappointed.

Nice and cosy place. I had the fish and chips, the fish was excellent light and full of flavour. Had the fruit crumble for desert. We all had great food, the service and staff were great. Would definitely recommend to other friends and family. Will definitely be coming back.

Staying in the area locally and thought we would give this pub a try based on previous reviews and we weren’t disappointed! Seated really quickly and also served really quickly by a lovely waitress. We both ordered the gourmet burger which we highly recommend, it was very tasty and piping hot. Would definitely visit again if we are visiting :)

Visited twice in three days whilst staying in nearby Kirkby Mallory. Have nothing negative to say. Beer was lovely and the food was of exceptional quality and very well priced. Would thoroughly recommend if you are in the area.

Hi guys. Just paid a visit to the Nags Head. After trolling around looking for somewhere for dinner to celebrate my Birthday. I decided on a nice bit of pub grub.

Took my mum for lunch, 2 courses for£10, excelent value & well cooked with a good very friendly service. So impressed recommended to my bowls club for pre-season lunch, 2 committee members tried it, enjoyed it & booked for club, resulting in 30 members going for lunch! Meals arrived promptly & all happy with food, the service was excellent despite there being another table of 12, as well as others. The only minor hiccup was the till decided to play up so caused initial backlog at bar, but once rebooted

We had not been here for a number of years, we used to go regularly, then it got taken over and we felt wasn't as good then it closed for a while. Anyway it was suggested by friends for an evening out and yes it was excellent. There was about 12 in our group all having a variety of meals, I had an excellent steak my wife had pork and everyone else had various other choices and we were all very happy with our meals and the service by very friendly and accommodating staff. Keep up the good work we will be back very soon.

After visiting this place earlier in the year (and writing a positive review), we we’re looking forward to eating there again on a recent visit to the area. Called in on a Thursday evening around 6.15 and managed to get a table. There were only two other tables occupied and one table for four reserved. The two other tables ordered their food and seemed to be served pretty quickly. We ordered one meal from the specials (monkfish) and mine was a chicken dish from the main menu. The table for four arrived and their orders were duly taken. Another couple arrived and again their orders taken. We waited and waited and waited, watched the table of four get their starters. Waited some more. Were told by the waitress our food wouldn’t be long. After waiting for an hour our food arrived at the same time as the last couple who had arrived at around 30 minutes after us. Neither dish looked very appetising but my chicken was like rubber and the thickest part still pink in the middle. I had to go in search of a waitress to make my complaint. She apologised and asked if she could get me something else. My response was that I didn’t want to wait another hour. Having seen the food on my husband’s plate I had no confidence in what might be forthcoming. My husband finished his food and I asked him to go to the bar and pay for his meal and our drinks. The person at the bar had not been made aware of the returned food as she was expecting payment for two meals until clarification with her colleague. The waitress asked the couple whose food had been served at the same time as ours if the food was ok and the lady made a big deal of say it was “superb” which almost seemed like a criticism of my complaint. Her meal might have been ok. The service she received was certainly better than ours as she hadn’t endured an hour’s wait. Every experience is different and on this occasion ours was very disappointing. The waitress really didn’t seem to know how to handle the problem and the customer service bearing in mind an hour’s wait and inedible food indicated a lack of training and or interest.

Visited for lunch Tuesday 16th April at 1.15pm to find a full car park and a Very full restaurant and bar always a very good sign. Invited to wait in the small snug area whilst awaiting a table becoming free, staff were so friendly and attentive. Lunchtime menu was comprehensive and 2 courses £10.00 and 3 courses £13.00 was excellent value. Had starters and main course and none of us could manage a pudding. Servings really were generous. Only one minor negative comment I can make was the gammon & chips, the gammon was a slice of thin cooked ham which had been sliced from a cooked Gammon joint, not really what we expected. I queried this and the waitress said that was what was served at lunchtime. It would best be described as ham and chips. That said we would highly recommend the wonderful pub with great staff.

We have not been here for years after taking a walk here with dogs and land lord making us sit in the car park. So after hearing it had changed hands and some good reports we gave it a gone on Tue 23rd April. Very warm welcome and was happy to see that on Mon & Tues they lunch time deals of 2 courses for £10 is on offer. I had the cottage pie and hubby had the gammon. It was very very good. fresh, loved that the green were not boiled into the water. A nice treat and as we only live a few miles away I am sure we will be back. PS DOG are now welcome

Ordered sweet chilli chicken salad with sweet potato chips. I was expecting and hoping for a chicken salad. There were about 5 pieces of chicken covered in sauce, sitting on top of the poor sweltering salad leaves underneath! I didn't even realise where the salad was, to start with. Maybe the menu should have read, "with salad garnish", not "chicken salad". The sweet potato chips didn't appear. (remembered them after I'd got home). So my "specials" meal on Sunday consisted of chicken nuggets with a tiny bit of wilted salad for a price of £13!!

To celebrate our 70th b'days my old school friend and I together with our wives wanted to try a different eatery,as we do every year.None of us had been to the "Nags" for many many years however I had been told the new owners had really made a difference.

Had a lovely afternoon celebrating a 60th birthday. Food and service were excellent, would definitely recommend the Nags Head!

Have now eaten here on three occasions, the last being a couple of nights ago. The atmosphere is lovely, so warm and welcoming. The staff are brilliant and the food is fantastic. We bought our neighbours on the last occasion and they loved it too, vowing to return soon. Cannot recommend highly enough.

This was a dinner celebration for my mum's 50th birthday which was a treat from myself & my brother. The lady who served us for our food was actually polite and helpful. Also food was lovely. The problem was the service when we went to pay for our meal at the bar. The card machine was not working unfortunately however instead of contacting the card machine company to get the machine fixed, the owner decided to make it feel it was our fault as we did not carry cash. She said can you not go to cash point to get cash out or do online banking/paypal, she even said can you come in tomorrow to pay & to put our name and address on a piece of paper for them.
