Hansom Cab, Hungry Horse in Hinckley and Bosworth

Went for a family meal. Normally the food is great but this time it was a bit of a let down. The stakes were grisselly, and the coleslaw tasted off so I didn't eat anymore. There was a mix up with the gluten free deserts. 3 were ordered and when they did come round they said they didn't have that option left so they could have crumble instead. Only one was brought out and said there wasn't any more ordered. They corrected it for us in the end. I had the donut for pudding and it was DELICIOUS. Overall the staff are nice, the place is clean and this is the first of many times going and never had any problems at all. The prices are great for food and drinks. Had some lovely cocktails.

I come in for a few drinks quite regularly and I must say Sydney and Denise go above and beyond whenever I am here. Always great service. Will always come here:)

I would have given five stars if it wasn’t for the fact that when ordering two Aperol Spritz from the drinks menu at £5.99 each we were told that they were not available because they couldn’t open a bottle of Prosecco for two drinks - we would have to buy the whole bottle. What nonsense!

I can see from their tracking page that my Amazon delivery has been stuck in the parking lot for over an hour, so I guess the food/drink must be good.

Me and family come to the hansom cab quite often and we've never had a bad experience. The food is quite cheap and is also very nice, the staff have also been very friendly everytime we visit. I've also had 2 parking fines when visiting as I'd forgotten to register my car at the bar, and each time they have rang to squish my parking fine without any hassle saving me alot of money.

Great service for a family breakfast. Really good value food and the team even managed to squeeze our little girl in the for the kids Easter bunny experience at last minute which was very much appreciated, thank you!

Previously have rated this place highly, and was always the place to go when we went out on a date or with friends or family. However since the new menu... I've been disappointed over and over. First it started with the halloumi mix it up being a smaller portion, which was upsetting but not the end of the world, so I've tried a few other things on the menu. The wraps /baguettes are not worth even having on the menu, the chicken and bacon one had such a tiny amount of filling, and the "melted cheese" was a cold piece of American square cheese. (The Korean BBQ burger is great though) The most recent time I went back to the halloumi mix it up, not realising they've actually changed the deep fried halloumi to 5 halloumi fries which have come out of a freezer bag. Alongside some undercooked freezer bag onion rings, the only bit I enjoyed was the sweet potato fries. The previous experience with the wrap, and this experience with the halloumi, I did bring up my dissatisfaction with the meal when it was bought out, however I was told this time "they've changed it it used to be amazing now it's naff" but no actual offer of a fix which was upsetting. The app describes them as crispy halloumi sticks now, while I didn't notice the change of phrase to "sticks" which is my own fault I should have queried, but I can't remember what they labeled the halloumi as previously, these also weren't crispy. Soggy halloumi fries? It didn't make a meal, I was dissatisfied and there was a lack of customer service/care when we voiced that, which makes me assume they have got that feedback a lot and are bored of it or are not being listened to in the bigger scheme of things. Service is hit or miss, staff are always friendly and never rude, however as stated above, not always useful problem solvers, or as we've experienced in the past waiting 45 minutes for our plates to be cleared and pre ordered desert to come out (and only when we eventually got up and asked) Go back to the old menu, even if it means I lose my Korean BBQ 🤣 Edit: shows you don't read the review... Where I stated the issue was voiced at the time and not resolved, simply told yeah that's what they're like now. Haven't been back since when we had previously gone at least monthly.

Have visited a couple of times before has been good i came yesterday I had chicken new yorker the chicken was slightly rubberier and there was hardly any bbq sauce i am on a gluten free diet i just eat white meat and fish it would be good to have more choice maybe salmon or another chicken dish on menu the jacket potato and vegetables I had was nice

The staff are friendly and helpful. The manager was lovely, very chatty and the pub like to raise money for charity which is really nice. The pub was clean and tidy. My daughter and I had a breakfast and it was perfectly cooked. The prices of the meals were really good. I would highly recommend this pub.

Good pub, great food and atmosphere. Just make sure you pay attention to the parking rules as I ended up getting a £100 fine but I rang up and they were more than happy to clear it.

Booked a table for Saturday night which is recommended as it's gets busy all tables reserved the food was amazing and tasty and nice and hot also good choice of drinks on tap.

We recently had our father's wake at the Hansom Cab. The staff were very caring and the service was brilliant. Excellent food, a good selection of hot and cold options plus a self service tea and coffee station. A section of the pub was closed off for our privacy. Highly recommend if you're looking for a venue for a wake.

We settled for some 'small plates' to share between us this time. Previously, I used to go for the sizzling plate with sides and make my own 'fajita' wraps but for some reason they don't have tortilla wraps as an option anymore. For the price, food is good and it was served quickly.

Had chicken and 2 sides this afternoon. It was freshly cooked but unfortunately undercooked. It was not raw but the chicken was pale skinned not any crispiness and the onion rings and fries were also pale and undercooked and had a strange smell. Seeing the chicken on a bed of Mediterranean vegetables wasn't nice either.

I recently had the misfortune of dealing with the landlord at Hansom Cab, and I can honestly say it was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. The landlord’s attitude was nothing short of appalling. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that I was an inconvenience. Rather than offering a warm welcome or even basic politeness, he seemed irritated by my presence. When I asked a simple question, he responded with sarcasm and a dismissive tone, as if I was wasting his time. It’s not just the rudeness—it’s the total lack of respect for patrons or employees. It was uncomfortable to watch how he treated the staff, barking orders at them in front of customers, making everyone around him tense and uneasy. I understand that running a business can be stressful, but there’s absolutely no excuse for treating people this way. A bad attitude and poor customer service go a long way in driving people away, and I won’t be returning to Hanson Cab as long as this landlord is in charge. If you’re looking for a place with decent hospitality, I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

Fantastic evening. We always go Christmas Eve, a big family of 14 for family festivities before the big day and this year Hinckley excelled themselves and everything was great! Super table decorations, food, service and environment, super. Keep up the good work.

Booked for Christmas Lunch & they did not disappoint. Very attentive from walking in the door. We were offered Prosecco on arrival and shown to our table. There were place cards with our names and confirmation of our pre-booked order. Our Starters came out quickly and was to die for, wonderful and very tasty. We were asked once finished if we wanted our Mains straight away or wished to leave it 10 minutes. A good question as not everyone eats at the same pace. Wow…. The Christmas Dinner was amazing and huge. No scrimping on portions here, in fact two people could have ate one dinner as they were enormous, not many cleared their plates purely due to the generous portions. Again we were asked if we wanted to wait or have our Pudding straight away. We waited and had a drink to make room for the delicious Christmas pudding and Brandy custard, in fact I had my pudding packed up to take home as I was fit to burst. An exceptional Christmas dinner with a wonderful atmosphere at a reasonable price. Most certainly will be booking for next year, just need to remember not to eat breakfast on the day! Well done to everyone who worked so hard to give us a Christmas to cherish.

I am absolutely disappointed with the "Dinner with Santa" experience. My two girls, aged 1 and 3, had been eagerly looking forward to this event since we booked it weeks ago. There weren't many other bookings, possibly due to previous negative experiences, with only three tables present. When Santa first arrived, he introduced himself to the girls but seemed annoyed when the waitress brought the food to our table. He huffed and puffed, then informed us that once we finished eating, the girls could sit on his sleigh to receive their presents. After waiting quite a while for our meal, we finally went to see Santa. To our shock, he was no longer in costume. The "Santa" we encountered was actually the landlord, now dressed in normal clothes and drinking at the bar. It was still within the event's time frame—16:30, and the event ran from 15:00 to 17:00, so there should have been plenty of time left. I spoke with one of the bar staff, and while she didn’t seem too surprised, she assured me she would sort it out. Thirty minutes later, a replacement Santa appeared—this time a lady, not the landlord. The stand-in appeared disoriented and rushed through what was supposed to be a magical moment for the children. While my girls are too young to notice, the older kids at other tables did, and for all we know, this may have taken away some of the magic of Christmas for them. What truly matters is that the magic of Christmas is fleeting, and moments like these are precious. The landlord should be deeply ashamed of how this was handled.

We had our team Christmas meal here,the staff where friendly and accommodating, we had a few changes but they where handled very well. the food was good. maybe could be a little warmer, but we enjoyed thank you for the service.☺️

The staff were very welcoming. I am pleased that they are able to make my adult autistic son feel at ease. They listen well give him time. We were given time and space to order drinks and settle into our seats. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Our meals were great and offered really good value for money. The portion size was large and we had to leave some main course to allow for pudding. All in all an enjoyable evening.

The amazing food we go regularly never had any issues with the service manager is lovely when i was taking photos he came over and said sit in the sleigh and he took an amazing photo . t;hey get a lot of bad reviews but i cannot see why all our meals have been served well presented and hot. except the ice cream lol well done hansom cab rugby road (Hungry horse )

The Hansom cab is a hungry horse pub but when my dinner came with the garlic bread ordered as an extra 1/2 a slice cut in 1/2 again. When we complained we were told the portion sizes had been reduced. No mention of this on the menu and the cost was still the same. More like Hungry sparrow

Food decent enough and nobody seemed to mind my noisy 3 year old so felt more relaxed. Little to no interaction from staff though and a little slow. Not the worse thing but just my opinion.

Disgusting rude barmaid Sydney was a massive disappointment to the rest of the friendly staff. Sydney the barmaid was extremely rude and told me that I was being rude. I ordered the children’s meal deal which included a desert. At the time of ordering I was not asked choice of desert. When I went back to order adult deserts and the child dessert I was told I had to pay again as I didn’t choose at the time of ordering. Which I was annoyed at and agreed to pay again but suggested with a low voice and no attitude that maybe at the point of ordering the staff should flag this and promt the dessert choice. She instantly told me I was being rude and refused to serve me. I have worked in hospitality and Retail for 25 years and I was in no way rude. She was clearly understaffed and looked very miserable in her work Me and my wider family visit regularly and after the indication with Sydney I will not return and will advise everyone I know not to which is a shame as all other staff were so pilote and helpful and she ruined our lunch and any future visits. She would not even listen to reason when I was trying to tell her I was not being rude just mentioning a customer point of review for future reference to make the situation clear and she kept rudely shutting me down and not letting me speak. I will take this further if she is not disciplined as I work very high in HR and now the process inside out.

Tip… do not try the new Southern comfort Texas toast. The weirdest thing I ate, mac and Cheese and crispy chicken together in a sandwich. Dry, weird, not tasty.

We were let down by our usual pub for a meet we have every last Monday of the month so called the Hansom Cab who warmly welcomed us ,and it was a Bank Holiday , Great pub ,atmosphere,service and food ..highly recommend

We ordered shot sets and one of the glasses had a chip on it. We asked to replace a glass. Then we find out that another one has actual shard in it. All they proposed is to replace the drink. No apologies whatsoever Strictly not recommended.

Had a couple of Guinness zero's 2 for £5 and watched the first half of the football. Good atmospheric and good service 👍

Me and my husband went there this evening, we both had steak one was ordered a a medium the other well done. The well done was more like a medium with a smallish amount of blood, the medium was still mooing, as soon as the folk was put on the surface blood came oozing out. I could have made a decent pair of shoes out of it, both were that tough. Won’t be using again,
