Lacks atmosphere - feels forced and cringey. Landlady is painfully unwelcoming - heard her moaning about other customers that had just left which was very unprofessional and constantly was complaining that nobody uses the pub anymore. Locals are not friendly - big tall guy called John kept glaring at us when we were laughing and made us feel unwelcome. Drinks a bit on the expensive side, bar lady was very friendly. Nice looking traditional style pub in a pretty little village. Would recommend them putting some music on low level volume for a bit of atmosphere.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Beef and Turkey both very tasty and an excellent choice of veg. Current offer to include puddings means great value meal

Recommended this place by a friend so had 2 try...and wasn't disappointed,very welcoming country pub and the food was dare I say but some of the best we've had in a long time..(and we eat out regular) the Wootton welly pie is highly recommended couldn't manage pudding but we took one home 4 later and that was also fab..deffo worth the drive from Grimsby and be visiting again 😋

Arrived at the pub to be met by extremely friendly staff. We had a drink first from a good selection of real ales, then asked for the menu. A good selection of food on offer, my partner is a vegetarian and there was plenty for her to choose from. I had the Wootton Welly pie, which the landlord told us the history of. When the food arrived, the chef asked us if we required anything else. The staff were so attentive it was a pleasure to eat there. There was a lovely log burner knocking out some heat on a cold day. We were planning on having a dessert but to be honest we were both full from the main course. We were also given a booklet listing future events and acts that were coming to the pub. Would we go again, yes definitely a nice good old country pub.

My very first visit was last Friday and even though Its over the bridge I hope to visit it again soon. Very friendly staff and the villagers. Great inexpensive food cooked from scratch definitely not precooked. I ordered the curry which was fabulous. I was asked what curry and what meat and a huge plate arrived. Great place to visit summer and winter. Give it a try you will not be sorry. They have their own newspaper detailing all the things going on present and the future, ie: alternative Miss Wooten, sounds hilarious.

A friendly country pub with decent lagers and bitters plus's a guest bitter changing weekly. A great menu cooked by a bloody good chef at a decent price. You are treated as a regular from the minute you step foot in the Pub!

Tried this pub for the first time for Sunday lunch. We were not disappointed. The meats were cooked beautifully, a good selection of vegetables, big yorkies and a boat of lovely gravy. For desert we had the Nags Head tart. Similar to a Manchester tart but oh so much better. Served with delicious chantilly cream which was to die for. Loved it. The other thing that made it special for us, was that the waitress was lovely, the owner came to check that everything was okay with us. Then the chef came and chatted to make sure we were happy with our food. How nice is that. Will certainly be making more visits to this special pub. Thank you.

Great food esp the veggie curry, which was beautifuly presented on a hot plate. They are happy to accomodate your needs and to adapt Their menu items. Lovely friendly staff who made us feel at home even though we are not local. So good ... we intend to return for their music festival !! 10/10

Lovely pub/restaurant. We are staying in the Wootton area and we wanted somewhere within walking distance. It’s a locals pub but we were made to feel at home straight away. Owner is very friendly as we’re all the staff, helpful for things to do in the area with children. We all ate from the main menu, was expecting normal pub food but it was so much better. The Wootton welly pie (steak) was the pie I’ve had in ages, chicken burgers looked amazing too! And for the kids pink custard for desert made us smile. Brilliant place, if we were staying longer we’d have definitely stopped in for Sunday lunch

Out for a ride, stopped in The Nags Head, I had swordfish and the wife had salmon & dill fishcake. Both were excellent, and the chips, well I've never tasted chips like it before, I asked what was the coating on the chips, but that is the chefs secret . Though it's a 20 mile trip, we will be back and give something else a try, but it has to have the chips with it ! I found both the owner and his wife very pleasant and helpful. The review asks if you have any photos, I'm at that age where we don't take photo's of our meals. While we were there, a funeral group cane in , so they do cater for parties.

Wow 🤩 what an amazing meal! I would throughly recommend The Nags Head at Wootton. What a lovely friendly and very hospitable pub. Nothing is too much trouble for the landlord and land lady. The food is second to none and very good value for money. I would well recommend the salmon wellington with dill sauce this was very tasty 😋 my husband also throughly enjoyed the very popular Wootton welly pie. Give this lovely pub a try, you really will not regret it!!

We feel so lucky to have the Nags in the village. It's such a friendly, welcoming pub which serves up superb food including the best chips ever! Fab menu and good range of beers.

Great Food, Great Staff but the pub was absolutely freezing! There are five or six of us old fellers who meet up on a more or less regular basis for Lunch in different pubs.In total fairness, we all really like the Nags Head, and the food is great, but today (Nov 22) the pub was absolutely freezing, The log Heater was only fired up at 12 o'clock opening time..When we were shown through into the dining room we were the only customers and it was cold in there we asked the very helpful barmaid to turn the heating on and she said that the boss wouldn't allow it! So we moved into the bar where it was slightly warmer and finished our meal there!Everyone that came in remarked how cold it was in the bar, So it want just us!Now I don't pretend to be an expert on pub filling but I'm positive that a cold pub is not going to attract custom! We have been in this pub a few times over the last three years or so, and the food has really improved since the last licensee left.But i really cannot get over how cold it was in the pub...WE (The old fellers and I ) will return there but only in the summer!I really wanted to give less star rating but the food and staff made an extra star!

Visited mid week with a friend. We both had veg lasagne which was excellent. It came with a really good side salad(not just a bit of wilted lettuce!) and crispy garlic bread. We then had Bakewell tart which was yummy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back.

I had the chance to try the sizzling mixed grill today, the steak was perfectly cooked and exactly how I asked for it, the chicken was beautifully done and not dry like some other places. The tomato was grilled lightly and when eaten it added a nice refreshing taste which contrasted perfectly to the meats. When ordering the sizzler the chef kindly offered to add her own blend of garlic and mixed herbed butter to the dish, this added a whole new dimension of flavour and really set it apart from the average mixed grill. Would definitely recommend, the service was also second to none. absolutely stunning.

The first time I’ve sat and enjoyed a meal for a very long time, the food was amazing and the chef Shaun is one in a million nothing was to big or to small he even made a dish for my son that was not even on the menu the garden work they have done makes the place pop so to speak the place is very clean the lady behind the bar always knows when your drink is low amazing I will definitely come again and I will be telling others how amazing this place is the home cooked food cooked very well thank you so much see you soon

Excellent meal again. Visited for the carvery and it was luvly. Fresh veg and looked after very well. Just had another meal there and excellent again. Good children's menu and the syrup sponge was yummy and best I've eaten and I've eaten plenty in my time. Landlady and landlord were so accomidating and friendly we even stayed for the quiz.. Perfectly cooked beef and Lamb. Fresh vegetables and potatoes also prepared well. I'm sure if we could have managed a second course it would have been of the same high standard. Excellent friendly service extending as far as rearranging seating at a moments notice to accommodate a slightly warm mother in law. ( far warmer where she's heading) Can only highly recommend .

Decided to treat ourselves to sunday lunch out, so visited the Nags Head , was definitely not disappointed, the two meats were lamb and beef , the lamb just melted my husband had the beef and he said that was lovely . this is our first time visiting this pub and will definitely be returning

I am always nervous about eating roast dinners out as my own are always well received by my family and no where seems to meet my standards for them! However being mothers day I was treated to a meal at the Nags Head and can say I was not disappointed (and neither were my family!). The portion of meat and yorkshire puddings were generous and the choice of vegetables were good but limited for those who are fussy! Staff were attentive and even though they were rushed off their feet they still ensured everything was ok and provided a good service. All in all, a great meal, great atmosphere and great pub!

We came here for a bite to eat and we ordered the Cajun chicken wrap each. The chef came and took our order and explained that whilst the food on this particular dish is usually spicy, she can alter it to suit our needs, no problem! This friendly pub never fails to deliver. Food is amazing, the staff are brilliant and they’ve got the customer in view of everything that they do. Absolutely love coming here, it’s our go to place to eat out.

As always a good selection on the menu and on the Specials Board, from which we selected the sizzling beef in Black Bean sauce and the Turkey wrapped in Yorkshire Pudding. Both really delicious, served with a smile and followed by two super puddings.

We visited the Nags Head last week for a family party. The staff was very accommodating for the amount of people that was there. The buffet was lovely! Plenty of selection and more than enough for everyone. 2 particular favourites of mine was the Egg mayo sandwiches and sausage rolls. Would definitely recommend! I spoke to the kitchen staff once they had finished up for the night. The head chef was lovely to talk to, very approachable and it was clear is very passionate about her job and wanted us to have the best experience possible which you can’t say for many pubs around here!

If anyone wants a party The Nags Head is the place to go. Jo and Paul went above and beyond to make sure we had a great night and we did. The bar staff coped well with the amount of people that came. The buffet was great and plenty of it. Thank you for a great 60th birthday party.

This was our first meal here since the new chef started and it was fantastic. We had swordfish which was very tasty and the gammon was great too. Kids portions are a good size and children are made welcome here. Everything is reasonably priced including the excellent selection of drinks. We would definitely recommend and we will be back soon.

My wife and I had heard and seen great reviews so we decided to go there for lunch yesterday (30/08/18). As it was quiet we chose to have our meal in the pub rather than the restaurant. The owners, bar and kitchen staff were very friendly and welcoming, which helps greatly on a first visit.

Best carvery I've had in this area for a while. Fanastic trip back in time, delicious traditional chocolate concrete and pink custard. Definitely recommend calling in at The Nags Head, great friendly helpful staff & excellent service. Also has guest beers & gin lovers paradise, twenty five plus selection.

Came on bank holiday Monday for a quick dinner - well what a lovely surprise, full menu and what a choice, fish & chips and a chicken curry were ordered and didn’t disappoint! Curry was freshly cooked chicken in a lovely madras sauce. Fish was beautiful, the batter was amazing! Good sized portions too. Lovely friendly landlord. Back tomorrow with the family.

Read nice reviews about this place so we decided as a family to try somewhere different to our usual haunt. First impressions were encouraging, quaint little village pub with park for the kids. Didn’t use as the weather was a bit naff.Friendly staff. Reasonably priced. HOWEVER... and here’s the disappointing bit, I’m sorry to have to leave a less than good review but the taste of the food was very average. The gravy was thin and watery, the beef was tough as old boots, and there was big lumps in the mash potato. I could eat it, I cleared my plate, but it wasn’t very enjoyable and I’m sorry to say I probably won’t return. The size of those joints you need to slow cook from evening before, the meat and gravy are the bedrock of Sunday lunch, very Disappointing.

Visited here as we went to see a group that we have seen a couple of times. Decided to book a meal here too and I’m glad we did. I’m always in search of the perfect pie and this met a lot of the criteria. There was plenty of meat, it was nice and tender and the crust was well cooked and crispy. I ordered it with chips and veg, chips were nice and crispy and veg was tasty and cooked just right. I had garlic mushrooms to start and these were delicious! I would definitely eat here again and recommend to anyone who wants good pub food and a nice friendly atmosphere with good service. Only down side was they were out of sorbet which I love after a meal to cleanse the palate.

I cannot reccomend Jo, Paul and Toni enough for the fantastic service they provided for my little boys birthday and christening celebrations. They erected a marquee, obtained chairs, and served a delicious buffet. All of this for a very reasonable price.

We called in on a Friday evening and the food smell that good we decided to have something to eat. We had the chicken goujon starter which was lovely followed by the fish and chips. The and chips was amazing and because it was Friday it was only £14 for 2 fish and chip meals. Absolutely fantastic meal and excellent price. The staff although young were very attentive. We will definitely be back!

We visited the Nags Head for the first time under new management, enjoyed the Wednesday carvery meal (April special). We were welcomed by very friendly bar staff and enjoyed a delicious, well-cooked meal in the cosy dining room. In the course of conversation, we learned that the chef is known to us from a previous venue, which leads us to expect a consistently good quality of meals.We will definitely return again in the near future.

We have just had a very tasty meal at the Nags Head in Wootton.

My husband, son and I recently visited for a family meal. We had lost faith with the pub despite it being within a stones throw from our house. However, I am really pleased to say that The Nags Head is back on top form. I had the surf and turf which was very well presented and tasty. My husband had the healthy option mixed grill (he likes to kid himself) which he really enjoyed and my son had the Wootton Welly meat pie which he said was amazing; with particular praise for the gravy and nice to see it was served with fresh vegetables that were not just the ubiquitous peas and carrots. But, special mention has to go to the chips which were outstanding. Well done Jo, Paul and team for serving great food well.

Visited last night to try the food for the first time after new owners Jo and Paul reopened the restaurant! The whole pub feels so much fresher and brighter now and is always warm and welcoming! We both had gammon and egg which came with chips, peas, mushrooms,onions rings and salad and they were both delicious, very juicy and lean. We shared a walnut roulade for dessert which was really lovely - would try to save room another time to have one to myself as it was so tasty!

New owners to the nags head are just what it needed.paul and jo are great host's in this lovely pub. Food is devine...steaks done to perfection what more can u ask for. Pre booking is advised on sundays as the carvery is extremely busy .

when we walked in it kind of felt like the slaughtered lamb.the barmaid was almost put out as we asked for a table and was begrudgingly given table 3. we walked into a half empty restaurant and sat ourselves down.. after 5 mins I got up and asked a passing waitress what the protocol was for ordering food as there was no menus on the table. not knowing she went away and on return informed me it was a carvery only. we were very hungry at this point and went to que for our food..the meats were dry and overcooked and the yorkshire pudding was just awful. the selection of veg was quite good and you had the chance to help yourself..the gravy was lovely. before I sat down I made a unpopular request of asking for english mustard. but it arrived at the table promptly..we knew we were newcomers as we were the only table to have a checkback and were occasionally watched by the waitress..while waiting to pay the bill I had a look around the place is quite drab but there is a charming fireplace to the right hand side of the room. the barmaid who gave us our table and was the only person dealing with our drinks and informed us there was only sunday roast..after giving us table 3 still needed to make a point of asking what table we sat at.. no points for best barmaid there..We wont rush back..

Visited this pub a few times years on the way back from family camping trips in Lincolnshire, always a good place to stop with a large beer garden.Found ourselves looking for food in the area, and needed to be close to Humberside Airport - this proved to be a welcome return to the pub.Although we don't normally go for a carvery, this one was in our opinion particularly good - as mentioned by others the beef is a real highlight, and they are not shy with the portions.Super friendly staff, quaint pub with none of that 'pub chain' feel, we'll be eating there again.

Being one of a group of old guys who regularly meet up for a meal,a pint and a good laugh.we were delighted to eat here, the food was brilliant,the service was second to none and the staff were helpful,friendly and attentive....We only had one complaint and that was that the 'Meg Mixed Grill' was too large for one of our group (I have to say here that this particular old feller can eat for England and he still couldn't finish it!)It was that good that I have just booked us in for a return visit...Cant wait!
