The staff were lovely. But the food was well below par, onion rings absolutely dripping in fat, Cajun veg wrap was a very odd combination, chips only tasted fatty as well, one of our party asked for a mushroom sauce and was served what can only be described as hot milk with lumps of cheese in it...we ate the food, but we had been out all day and we were absolutely starving, but disappointed and unlikely to return, such a shame.

We had had a late breakfast before our long walk. We only wanted a snack, but then decided on desert when we saw apple and Berry crumble with custard 😋. It was washed down well with an IPA beer. The staff were friendly and polite, and the manager was helpful with our choices. It was a lovely sunny day and we were able to sit in the well kept beer garden. I would highly recommend

Food was very good, tasty, though slightly overpriced for the standard in comparison with equivalent establishments. However we thoroughly enjoyed it. On slight negative is the location of the ashtray on the wall at the back entrance. This means non smokers have to walk through smoke to enter. This is by no means a problem at just the Nags Head, but I found it particularly bad tonight.

Lovely pub and the staff were very attentive and friendly. We had the Sunday roast. I had the beef and unfortunately it was so tough I couldn’t eat it. Everything else was lovely, oh apart from the crackling they had decided to put on the plate which really wasn’t crackling just rubbery skin even our dogs when we got home and shared the doggy bag found it hard to eat,

Came to this pub as a friend suggested it for me to try. The place is very cozy, friendly and welcoming. The food that we had was fresh and delicious, and didn't take long to wait. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, made me feel as a visitor from the far east, felt very welcomed. And since the location is very close to the "Wirral Circular Trail", give it a go when you are in Willaston for a break

We decided on a whim to visit here for an early dinner and wow! The food was outstanding. The size of the portions and quality was 5star. The food was freshly prepared and tasted delicious. You can tell it is proper authentic cooked fresh food. The prices are lower than they should be, the food is worth more than we paid! Compliments to the chef! Will come again.

We were on a walk down the Wirral way from Hooton station and this is a really nice handy place to stop for lunch as it is on a crossroads and there are numerous walks in different directions that can be done from here. They have a great menu and I tried out the pulled lamb baguette. It was a great tasty meal at a reasonable price. They also have a good range of beers. Service was excellent and efficient.

A local village pub. We went in on a Friday night, and it was busy. We waited about 5 minutes to be served at the bar. On ordering drinks, my daughter (nearly 21) was not asked for ID, but later, a bartender came over and asked her for ID? I understand that it is challenge 25, but please ask for ID at the point of sale as it brings attention to us and especially her in the middle of a very busy pub. I just hope that this wasn't linked to being the only people of colour in here... We have drank and eaten lunch in here before, so we will be back, but it will be something I will be mindful of. A lovely atmosphere and the evening food looked amazing. We are looking forward to eating in here for dinner in the near future.

Fantastic local pub in the lovely village of Willaston! As a local and semi regular visitor, the Staff are always friendly and helpful. Great selection of drinks including beers from local breweries and a variety of guest ales. Food is also great, but be sure to get there early on a Sunday if you want a roast as they are popular and can sell out! There are dog friendly areas to the pub and a supply of treats on the bar!

6/12/23 . 2pm .. Popped in for a quick drink on the way home with no real intention of anything else . Took a look at the menu though and we decided we were hungry ! The starters arrived promptly and were both very tasty but that was nothing compared to the mains . My wife agreed with me that it was probably the best and tastiest roast dinner we have ever had in a pub , and believe me we eat out quite a lot . Everything was cooked to perfection and we would not hesitate to eat here again in passing . A big thumbs up to the chef ... but also to the bar staff . I didn't get their names , but the man and the woman serving us were friendly and polite without being intrusive during our meal . All round .. a great experience ! 👍👍

I took my family to the restaurant to celebrate my birthday. The service was slow, and all of the meals except for one were fine. One meal was terrible, the Sea bream which was ordered with a side of cauliflower cheese. The sea bream is set upon a bed of whipped chick peas. The chick peas were cold and ‘gloopy’, the fish was cold and the cauliflower cheese we were told had been made inadvertently with smoked cheese. We made them aware of the issues, and instead of accepting the problem they decided to argue that in their opinion the meal was adequate, they stated that the manager and chef had tasted it and it was fine. They didn’t offer to replace the meal. At the end they said that the majority of the meal had been eaten and therefore they were charging the full amount for the dish. This is despite all of it being left. They agreed they would not charge for the cauliflower cheese. The management were adamant that everything was fine and rather than end up in an embarrassing argument in the middle of the restaurant In the end I paid the full amount, only to find afterwards when checking the bill fully they had not only charged a fixed fee for service but also for an extra meal we had not ordered. My birthday meal was ruined, the experience left one of my party hungry and very un- happy.

Visited this pub after a nice walk on sunny day. We approached the bar just before a fleet of others arrived. Bar women walked length of bar to collect glasses , blanked us, returned a second time and as she went to walk past us again I said hello and asked to order drinks, her reply I’m not serving, no smile, no mention of getting someone else. Then a barman came and asked who was next. Got served as she had started serving other visitors. Food order was taken by a warm and welcoming blonde lady . Unfortunately was delivered by the rude barmaid, served with no smile. Seriously small potions and definitely not value for money . Did express our disappointment to the nice waitress on leaving who gave apologies for the rude women. Won’t be visiting again. Warmer welcomes await In many other lovely pubs on the Wirral.

I've had better elsewhere and this was quite pricey for a very average Sunday roast. The beef was on the tough side and I left the carrots. They weren't horrible exactly but had a strange 'twang' to them a bit like they'd been cooked in Star Anise Spice. When the waitress cleared our plates, I said I'd left the carrots as they tasted weird. She agreed they were an acquired taste and lots of people left them. Says it all really! I made the reservation in advance and had requested a table in the main bar but instead, we were escorted out to a very bland back section of the building which looked like an overflow room, totally lacking in ambience and nothing like the main area. Doubt we'll return as the CH64 area isn't short of other places to try.

Our initial reception was not very welcoming, 5 staff stood in the bar area and no-one smiled or spoke. We'd booked a table for an early meal and after ordering a drink we were told our table was in the dining area on the left . Subsequent service seemed to improve as evening progressed. Tables so disenfected glasses and menus stuck to them, not a bad thing but not comfortable either. Food average. Couple of years since this experience, changed a bit. Staff welcoming and pleasant, table in the pub area not a problem. Problem was that the table wasn't clean, manager did wipe it after I asked, food awful, couldn't tell where pastry and chicken differed just a hard lump which could have been either ,mash ok,mushy peas oddly seemed to have two varieties one brighter green than the other. Never a good pub but at least it felt cleaner than today

Now the Bella Chimes. The food is good but the place is run worse than Fawlty Towers. There were 6 of us celebrating my birthday on a Friday night. My wife booked the table via their website which states that the table is booked for 1.5hrs. The confirmation states the table is booked for 2.5hrs. When she checked, the table is actually booked for 2 hrs. That should have given us a clue. We were booking a taxi so it's good to know. We were put on a table next to the main door which we were not happy about as people were coming in and out constantly. They wrote us off at that point. The tables were so close together that the waitress struggled to get through. There were not enough menus to go around and no jugs available for water albeit they did provide pints of water. Eventually, our drinks order was taken and we gave the food order at the same time. It was about 1hr before the starters arrived. No reason for the delay was offered. To be fair, the Maitre D' did offer the drinks free of charge due to the wait and the starters were lovely. It took a lot longer for the mains to arrive. Nobody had checked on us in the meantime, nobody came to see if we needed more drinks. 5 of the 6 mains arrived. The waitress said she would check on the missing meal. She never returned. Eventually the missing food arrived with the Maitre D' some time afterwards. Two of the original 5 dishes were only warm. They had obviously been sitting in the kitchen for a while and my order had either been missed or messed up. Again to be fair, the food was lovely. As nobody offered dessert menus, we had had enough by this point and asked for the bill. When we asked for it to be split we were told the till couldn't cope with splitting the bill. It is sad as the food is nice. If they had stuck to the 2hrs we wouldn't have barely eaten at all within the time. The Maitre D' needs to step up and manage the restaurant instead of being a waiter. They need to reduce the number of tables and the table near the door should be restricted to two people at most or supply blankets! It was chaos. Never going back.
