Not a great experience, sadly standards have dropped, spending 43 pound on lunch that what not up to the standard of wetherspoons is sad. We will not be returning. Something has gone wrong with the food standard.

Lovely location for a night out with friends….however….I’m afraid to say that the occasion was marred by the disappointing quality of the food. I do not like to post negative reviews but in this instance it is justified ….we spent well over a hundred pounds for four main meals, four desserts and only 3 drinks. This would not be an issue except that it was certainly not value for money. One of us is vegetarian so opted for the veggie burger, it sat there within a plain cheap bun with a tiny bit of lettuce, slice of tomato and a handful of horrible chips. My partner said it was the worst burger he’d ever tasted, it resembled the cheap ones you get from a budget supermarket at best. The rest of us had pretty average food and the desserts were presented in a bland way which wasn’t expected at the price charged. It was a Saturday Bank holiday but come on guys the standard should not be affected, no-one came over to ask us about our food, even though we overheard someone telling the waitresses to do so. So I’m really sorry to post this but I feel strongly that we did not get value for money on this occasion. We did mention our feelings after paying and the gentleman apologized and said he would relay our comments to the chef. He said we should have mentioned it earlier but as no-one came over to check whether we were happy with the food this opportunity did not arise.

Excellent service and food. Also nice location right on the riverside. We ate in covered garden area, which is pleasingly a non smoking area. 🙂

Cannot recommend the mug house highly enough!! The food is wonderful, and the staff are amazing. We were there for a week and it was truly fantastic. Plus, I had a silly nasty accident which required a trip to hospital. To say that Hossey and his team went above and beyond would be an understatement! We will be going again, and again! Thankyou to everyone at the Mug House xx

The review is for the restaurant. We arrived two families with kids on Sunday 5.50pm. All people were eating with food just brought to the tables. We have been told kitchen now closed as it closing at 6pm, no exception even for baby food. but there is pizza! We agreed to remain and have pizza. They came again in 5 min telling us there is no pizza left as well. Here we go, nice inexistent service. A cheap fake apology to us and good evening! Hence the rating, hence not recommending to waste your time if you are in the area after a long day visiting the safari and tired with tte kids hungry, especially if you have not got an english accent and dare to ask twice for baby food.

We had a nice time here but there were a couple on things that were frustrating. Firstly that 2 of the things I personally ordered were not available - coffee (machine was broken) but also and mosr annoyingly the vegan burger, particularly as veggie options are limited. Also service was slow and one of our side dishes and one of our desserts were forgotten and then had to be chased.. One of our table ate their dessert after everyone else had long finished and there wasn't an apology for the delay.

Lovely pub by the river. Nice and welcoming service. We had delicious pizzas and the 4 of us enjoyed it very much.

Today we had a delicious vegan and gluten free Sunday roast lunch with lots of very tasty veggies. There is also the option for a vegan Yorkshire pudding that isn’t gluten free. The staff were very friendly and professional, highly recommended in a perfect location overlooking the river.

Nice quiet Wednesday night. It was nice to have a hot chocolate instead of a cold drink. Shame it was lukewarm but it was lovely and chocolatey. Good friendly service. Always good to drink next to the beautiful River Severn.

Just stopped at the mug house for a bite to eat and a drink but walked out again after waiting at the bar and being ignored by an incompetent waitress trying to pull a pint of bear. Won't be back again

An absolute gem. Staff were lovely, food presented beautifully and very tasty. The covered garden area at the back is a fabulous place to relax and enjoy your meal.

Fantastic food, great and attentive staff, great disco tunes. Highly recommend. Good variety on the menu and the specials were actually a bit special (unlike most pubs). Good selection of beers. All round a bit of a diamond.

This place serves really lovely food so tasty--the staff are young and a credit to the proprietor their courteous friendly and fast and this pub has a lovely setting right high above the river with wheelchair access to the pub and children and dog friendly so long as their kept on a lead 👍and some of the kids😂

Lovely place, dog friendly a big plus, just one little note’ the chips or fries whatever you call them aren’t up to scratch with the quality of the fish and peas, they looked like pre cooked and warmed up, very dry ,looking around we weren’t the only ones that left the basket half full.

Made a reservation for Sunday lunch! Food was very bland. No seasoning. Not impressed with the quality either. Shame as it was a celebration meal!

A delightful friendly restaurant in a superb location. Excellent food and presentation. So good we went twice on our short break.

The five stars would've been for the food i can't fault it at all, the service however unfortunately seemed to be money orientated our table was next to a large table of 10 who seemed to order individually from the main menu, we got served really quickly with our starters and mains which was off the light bites menu and when asked about a pudding we said we would choose later this was accepted, after finishing our mains they collected our plates and gave us time for our dinner to go down, we all had decided on the same pudding (but they were busy as well which we understood) it took us 30 mins plus before we got 3 peoples attention (short of shouting) to ask about our desserts only to be told the pudding had run out 10 mins previous. Normally I wouldn't complain but on this occasion we were made feel like the poor relations. I would recommend this place for the food however don't order the light bites if you want full service!!!!

UPDATE after 1st visit we didn't enjoy. Returned for a complimentary meal & was greeted by Ed the manager a really lovely guy. I opted for the large fish & chips, too big for me but managed to clear it as it was so good! My partner had the steak which was so tender & tasted amazing. Definitely going back.

Absolutely awful, loved popping in for a pint and a cob 😜 was really disappointed today 😭 outside area is now covered over with perspex so extremely hot, no option to see it in the garden as it was closed off and almost £10 for a pork baguette??? The pub is ruined

Yards from the River Severn this pub is everything you can wish for. We first came to the Mug Inn one Sunday during winter with elderly relatives. Not having booked there were no tables. Seeing the disappointment on our faces the landlord came up with a creative solution and showed us to a room not being used upstairs. Service that time was timely and regular and the food was spot on. A return visit for a birthday didn't disappoint. Being a Sunday we headed for the roast dinners. Beautifully cooked the roast potatoes were spot on as was my chicken. I'm told the Timothy Taylor Landlord was well kept. Perfect. But book ahead for the food if you can. Expect about £15 a head for main courses. The building itself looks late 18th or early 19th century and I'll bet the wood fire gets plenty of customers in cold weather.

Fabulous fish sharing platter for 2 people, which included good size fish goujons, mussels in a wine sauce, prawn cocktail, calamari and mackerel pate. All served with warm baguettes and a delicious salad...😋 Waiting staff were lovely and all food was exceptional and very good value. Definitely worth a visit

This time I attended with my 6 month old Puppy and an older pup. The mug house was very accommodating for my pups. Even when all she wanted was cuddles! My server Sydney, immediately accommodated for my dogs by providing us with a slightly bigger table, which then meant that they were not getting under everyone’s feet! She even asked if they could have a treat! Which of course both of the pups loved. I then proceeded to ask for advice on the food. I must say, Sydney’s advice was spot on. The food she recommended was amazing and was delicious. The tomato and garlic soup was very delectable. I would recommend for when that is their special. I would go back again. The Mug House is a great place to stay, the rooms are very clean and homely. The pub is awesome, real cozy with the fire going when cold. The food is wholesome and really good. The Timothy Taylor's Landlord is first rate, great ale. The staff are great when we stayed Sydney greeted us, she was friendly and welcoming.

I’ve been working away and regularly staying at The Mug House for the last few months. The rooms, food and service are always exceptional and the staff are all extremely friendly and welcoming; specifically Ed & Jo who always go that extra mile to provide the best service!

We enjoyed the hospitality of this little pub during our stay in Bewdley, delighted to find plenty of vegetarian and vegan options on a great menu. I think most people will find this pub serves good, hearty food. Plenty for the traditionalist too. We were served by Victoria, who ensured we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Good for the price, popular little eatery.

This is our 2nd visit with friends. It was a packed Wednesday night. I would strongly recommend booking as they were turning people away. We were shocked how busy it was for a Wednesday night. The atmosphere is just delightful, so bustling and lovely background 80s music playing. Really happy to see the same members of staff on who remembered us and our drinks from a previous visit. Joe has a very lively personality and clearly loves her job, along with I think Eddie?? a lovely chap, what a great combination. So many places you eat at the staff are miserable and really don't want to be there. This is certainly not the case with this duo, their connection is obvious and they clearly enjoy working together. The food was amazing. A bit of a wait for our main courses as you could see they were under pressure. I really recommend the fish menu, so expertly cooked and the risotto was perfect. They clearly have a very talented chef or chefs. We got talking to a neighbouring table who said they come weekly and not another place that consistently serves great food. Their steak and the liver looked fantastic. I cannot recommend this place enough, I have tried a couple of other local places but the food is simply not a patch on the Mughouse and therefore we wouldn't return to either. What a shame you can't bottle the magic of this place, alot of places could learn alot. This is hospitality at it's finest. A real find.

We all had a wonderful meal last night, served by Eddie and his helpful team. Their service was prompt, continual and thorough with a smile at all times. The food was delicious and beautifully cooked - would recommend the rump steak and pork loin. Excellently located right on the river for a meal after a refreshing walk along the riverside. Atmosphere in the Mug House is warm and welcoming, particularly with an open fire and surrounding tables and chairs. Dog friendly too. What more could you ask!

Dined here with 2 friends, we all had excellent food, very tasty and well prepared fish dishes, extremely friendly service (from Charlie) - also very reasonably priced. Definitely would recommend

Only visited once but the food was really good, both from a quality and a value point of view. Also the beer was great. It was a really busy Friday lunchtime but the staff were fabulous in informing us that there may be a slightly longer wait, but it wasn't long at all and they were friendly and attentive throughout our visit. All the other food we saw looked amazing too, so we can't wait to go back.

Lovely dog friendly pub, with excellent food. we popped in for lunch, I had a chicken burger, that was so big I struggled to finish it, my partner had a hake risotto and was again impressed by the portion, both were very good, & we'd happily recommend the place to friends and family (& the internet).

Had bacon liver and onions unfortunately these were all cooked separately then added to the plate then gravy poured on. Making it a strange dish. I then had a cheese board which was served on a plate without a cheese knife so very difficult to eat. Staff seemed to be interested in seating new customers instead of serving the already seated. Bit disappointed to say the least. Ale kept exceptionally well.

Headline | gr8 food but not much choice Turned up without a reservation, but they were able to accommodate us in the covered outdoor area. It was quite cold despite having loads of gas heaters outside. None were turned on. They did warn us of a 40-minute wait for food, but we were starving 😫, so we ordered, we thought if we had starters, it would come quicker, but it did take 40 minutes. Food and drinks were good, it filled a hole, not sure it was memorable and the choice was limited. Staff were polite and friendly, we ordered alcoholic drinks for our teo boys 13 and 14 to have with a meal and bar maid wasn't happy, concerned about loosing there licence, so I had extra drinks and we got the boys a coke each no drama. Having done some reasurch the age is 16 with a meal. I can't rate the rooms ad we didn't stay

Mid week visit. We ate from the lite bites menu which was great value, & frankly more than adequate portion sizes. Because of my food alergy they made me a special pasta dish which was delicious. The staff were attentive & friendly. We will be back!

Went for a lovely relaxed Sunday lunch - staff were wonderfully friendly as always and quickly found us a table - the roasted sirloin special was absolutely perfect- beautifully medium rare - paired with the cauliflower cheese which was equally as delicious - vegetables were clearly very freshly cooked - simply beautiful

We visited as a group of six on a Friday evening. The staff were very friendly and we felt welcome. We had quite a few requests and the staff were very helpful and accommodating and were able to help with advice with food intolerances. The food was delicious and great value. We will definitely be returning.

Visited for Valentine’s Day. Started off well with the starter. Unfortunately went downhill from there. Other couples had come in and while we were one of the first to order our mains took ages to come out as other tables got their food first. It was acknowledged by the staff who could see I was clearly frustrated. I ordered the surf and turf which was a disappointment as the surf was missing and the homemade onion rings were crispy and over cooked. To note I ordered this as saw what was served on another table and mine looked nothing like what theirs did. Two hours in we decided it wasn’t worth a longer wait for desert so paid up and left. Overall it was ok. Would I go back again probably not. Might be better when it’s a quieter time.

Called in on off chance for Sunday lunch, was given a warm welcome. A bit of a wait for lunch, which was explained and we were in no rush, so no problem. Service from our waitress was superb. Could not fault service or food. We look forward to returning.

First time at The Mug house for a family meal what a lovely place right on the river fantastic food and drinks staff really friendly and helpful log fire going in the center just what you need on a wet winters night. We could not beleive the menu choice we will definitely be returning here soon

Had coffee and lunch, the service was friendly and efficient. I had the pork and stuffing baguette which was excellent, my wife had a ham sandwich which also very good. We will definitely return on our next visit to Bewdley

Best chef in Bewdley; greatest waiting staff, always prompt, always polite, always friendly. Good choice of beers. What else could you ask for? A Full 5 Stars, wish I could give more. Update: Roast Lamb Sunday Lunch, the best, and Butterscotch Bread and Butter Pudding, who wouldn't have that. Still the best food in Bewdley and for many miles around; why they don't have a Michelin Star is bewildering.

Dropped in for lunch with my 2 year old grandson. We sat in the restaurant, we were looked after wonderfully by all the staff. The food was excellent- I had a pie and chips, my grandson the child's branded chicken meal. Pudding was an ice cream for him, Baileys bread and butter pudding for me, washed down by a pint of London Pride. Thank you, it was lovely. A very child friendly place.

Best Restuarant In Bewdley! (Plus best service 🎉) This is my favourite restaurant in bewdley! The staff are always friendly, they love having dogs and the pub is so cosy. I love how they have done up out the back as a beautiful outdoor dining space and with the heaters it's even great in winter! The reason it's my favourite is that there are healthier options on the menu as well as classics and usually something a bit different too. I have dietary requirements and I've never had a problem with that there, they do good vegan options etc. Food has always been high quality and the one and only time we had an issue (we've been there a lot!) the general manager Ed sorted it out straight away without any problems! He's served us a few times and he is always the friendliest one there, and makes you really feel welcome. Last time he even brought a treat for our dog! 10/10 service.

Having just returned from a vacation we took the opportunity to have an early dinner here last night. As always the menu was extensive and well thought out, using only ingredients from local suppliers. I have to say, the food was fabulous and we couldn’t have asked for more attentive service (mainly from Charlie). It really is fabulous to have this independently owned restaurant right on our doorstep.

Great service and food for Sunday lunch with a nice view of the river. There is a vegetarian option plus a special roast. If you don’t fancy this there are other options too. Service is good but as the lunches are so substantial I can never manade a pudding even though they look great.

Dropped in for a spontaneous Sunday lunch after a dog walk. Always a warm welcome here, including for the dog who was offered a comfy bed to lie on. Had the roast which was delicious - my only negative comment would be for the price of £16.95 (I think) cauliflower cheese should be included. I do resent paying extra for something that costs very little to supply and elevates a roast from “very good” to “superb”!

Wonderful meal tonight, with great, friendly and attentive service. The dining room was lit with candles and created a lovely atmoshere. I enjoyed options from the wonderful fish menu; scallops, followed by Trout. Both were the best dishes I have had at a restaurant for some time. My husband enjoyed a mushroom starter followed by a rib eye steak, cooked perfectly, from the Autumn menu. The October 20% off food and drink, was applied to our bill reulting in a fab meal at very reasonable cost. Definitely recommend. Outstanding.

Walking around Bewdley and decided to go somewhere for lunch and came across The Mug House. The staff were immediately attentive and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and drinks order taken straight away and arrived without delay. Ordered 2 main meals and these were prepared from fresh. Quality was brilliant. Really pleasant venue overlooking river.Great experience and would highly recommend.

Great lunch and service. Well done to Hossey and the team. Our 51st wedding anniversary was celebrated at the Mug. We will be back soon.

have visited twice in the month , for lunch and dinner a week apart . both times excellent food and sevice . definitely will visit again especially now the have a new autumn menu and a dedicated fish menu . a must book place as it is quite small and very busy ( easy to book online )

Although my wife and I have had several excellent lunches in the past, we took my son a s fiancée for Sunday lunch. It was excellent - service was really good and the host made sure on a couple of occasions that all was well. Highly recommended for food, location and service. 10/10. We will most certainly be returning....

We only had enough time for a couple of drinks, that was long enough to impress us and want to revisit .. and recommend to others. A fantastic location, whether river or people watching. The serving crew were delightful, helpful and professional … most importantly both rounds of our beer and lagers were really good and reasonably priced.

We stayed two nights and had dinner on one evening, We had breakfast on two days. Very pleasant room. The dinner was excellent as were the breakfasts - the latter are freshly cooked and very tasty! Staff most hospitable. So a great place to be based in all respects.

Stayed at the Mug House the night before a visit to the Safari Park. We were in the Daffodil room and had a evening meal and breakfast. Great room overlooking the river and food and service were first class.

Just wanted to sit out and maybe have pizza with wife. But extractor spewing hazy kitchen residue over us put us off really so finished drinks and left. £23 for a steak so shouldn't really have to suck in kitchen grease with meal. Was offered...

We visited here based on previous reviews & were not disappointed. We shared a fish platter (photo attached) & it was very tasty (I particularly loved the smoked mackerel pate). The pub has a lovely atmosphere, staff were welcoming & friendly. We will definitely revisit...
