The Mousetrap Inn Restaurant in Cotswold

Very good food here. Cosy and intimate, but great for casual dining for anyone or group. I had the chicken, which was delicious, and very happy the bar stocked Frangelico for an after dinner tipple.

What a friendly, warm and inviting atmosphere! I was visiting the area with friends and we had a fantastic meal and service. That in itself would be enough for 5 stars, but then I had car trouble and the staff went above and beyond to help me and my friends out. This extended into breakfast the next day (also very good!) and I cant thank them enough for their kindness at a time of minor crisis, Lovely place, great food, and excellent staff 😊

Stayed 2 nights in a dog friendly room. Room was fairly basic but had all we needed & was clean. Breakfast was included and was good. Had an evening meal. The braised shin of beef was excellent. The best thing were the staff who were all very friendly & helpful. 5 minute walk to the centre of Bourton so we'll located. Great for dogs (ours helping welcome visitors below.

Mediocre. Very small portions.and for that reason overpriced, dont think mash costs a lot and 11 (yes I counted) small / tiny pieces of gnocchi is a starter not a main (the greens in the dish were a bit slimy). Gnocchi dosnt cost a lot either...and I did say to the server that it was nice just not enough of it.

The restaurant was full and service could have been much better. I had ordered chicken supreme which was a roast chicken portion with a ver small splash of sauce on top. One of our drinks didn’t arrive and was credited when the bill arrived. My partners fish was overcooked. Unfortunately we were both disappointed

An absolute must visit! We came for a full English breakfast, the food was superb. Fresh ingredients & a generous portion size! The landlord was so kind to us, it was raining and he allowed us to leave our car on his car park and borrow an umbrella to keep dry. The Mousetrap in is beautifully decorated with. Cosy country feel. We will definitely return & recommend it to anyone visiting the village!

We were debating about where to have dinner on our last night in the area and ended up booking dinner at Mousetrap. We were not disappointed! The building itself is very cute and we loved the subtle mouse related decor; it as fun to spot them. The food was generous and hearty with a very nice job in the plating creating a lovely first impression. I ordered the spinach and mushroom Pithivier and it was delicious..definitely not something I can get back home. My better half very much enjoyed his chicken. We had just enough room left to share a delicious dessert which also looked great.

Wonderful Sunday lunch, it gets very busy so recommend booking in advance. Big portions but can order a childs portion. The prawn starter was delicious and the roast beef very 😋 tasty.

Room was lovely, modern and bright with a spacious bathroom, breakfast was amazing and well worth the price. Staff are a credit to the place, especially Amelia, and the lady who makes and serves breakfast. Beautiful picturesque village within walking distance.

Arrived ten min late for our 8.30pm meal only to be told by an unfriendly waitress that the kitchen had closed. After much deliberation had to settle for a pie on a plate and a side Ceasars salad for 45pounds. The waitress left the premisis after dropping our order off. The pie was very average Unfriendly staff. Higher than average prices, and a pretty ordinary beef pie. There a way better places to eat in this charming village.

Went for Sunday roast dinner, went at 5pm & had pre booked. We had the roast beef - delicious! So so tasty. I had crumble & custard for dessert & my husband had cheese & biscuits.

Cosy fire. Superb service from Ruben and his little black mothball puppy :) We celebrated my wife’s birthday with crisp, dry, chilled pink Prosecco, well seasoned garlic Scottish shrimp and a cote du bouf that was cooked to perfection. Would have been ideal of the potatoes were more rustic, ie. Thick cut or oven baked wedges, but aside from this we had an amazing time and meal. Thank you!

Family get-together in the Cotswolds. Chose a late-pm Sunday Lunch. One of our group has Gluten and Vegan issues. Michelle very helpful and made our group happy with our visit and ensured we all were happy visiting. Good beer and roasts available and GF/Vegan dish tasty and fulfilling. Amazing hospitality, front of house were attentive from the moment we walked in. Michelle’s bright and friendly welcoming made us feel at home. Food was excellent, ambient and decor was quaint and I would highly recommend you plan a visit. Bourton by the Water is a beautiful place, beautiful cottages, river that runs through the village, with lots to see and soak up middle England culture. We just popped in for a drink but we’re lucky enough to find really welcoming staff and landlady who told us about their special village curry night. Live music and great 2 or 3 course meal for £19 or £23 a head. Great food (do try the spicy fried pigeon) and excellent beer. The live music along with a pub full of locals made it a really wholesome and tasty experience. If this is happening whilst you are here, do walk beyond the normal touristy part of the village to this lovely pub/restaurant. The walk there and back through the village is beautiful anyway but with this place as the reward, do put in the extra effort.

Me and my partner visited The Mousetrap Inn for drinks during our stay in The Cotswolds. We were warmly greeted by Michelle (fellow northerner). She was lovely and very helpful, definitely recommend a visit here and would definitely return!☺️

We stayed here for a night as a little weekend away just the two of us. Overall felt it was very expensive for what it was (£190 for one night B&B). The bedroom was out the back in the car park and there is currently construction work (not their fault) so to get to the rooms you have to go through the back, past the kitchens, walking through the construction. The bed was comfy and room clean but needed repainting and the bathroom was very basic and outdated. Staff lovely. Drinks good price. Food overly priced but nice. Service was a bit hit and miss. Suspect it is the nicest of the places to stay in Bourton but probably wouldn’t rush back.

A lovely village / town to start with and worth a visit. Then to celebrate my 70th birthday our family attended for Sunday lunch at this pub ' restaurant. While it is stupid to say 'it was the best meal we have ever had' it certainly was up there with the best and good value. Pleasant surroundings, good food and staff (especially Nikita) who interacted and were a delight. If ever back in the area this would be a high on the list to visit.

We went for a family Sunday Lunch. One of the best roast dinners we have ever had. Well portioned and perfectly cooked beef with all the trimmings.

We had not booked but we got a table, it was early evening. The food was incredible, we both had roast beef and it was delicious. The staff were lovely and welcoming. The wine was delicious and the banana toffee cake pudding was incredible. The restaurant is a must if you are visiting Bourton-on-the-water. We will definitely be back xx

I travelled to Bourton-on-the-Water recently from South Wales with my friends, and visited The Mousetrap Inn for dinner. Both the service and food were both excellent, and there was just a lovely atmosphere all evening. Staff were very knowledgeable and helpful with menu queries, and couldn’t do enough for us. Food portions were BIG, so didn’t have room for dessert this time- but definitely will try next time! Looking forward to returning next week in half term with my family. I was delighted to hear that our pooch is welcome to come too!.

Well! The person serving us was friendly and polite. However, we ordered three dishes and asked for them all to come at once. My husband’s arrived and he had to eat it or it would have gone cold. I had to chase mine up and one of them came as a full main course instead of a side! They did only charge for a side. The food was slow coming. Hopefully this doesn’t happen too often though the couple next to us were heard to say ‘but we ordered them to come together. Neither them nor us bothered to have a dessert.

The lady went to walk off and I had to call her back for our drinks. The food looked like it had been thrown together and was the scraps of the day. The mash was cold and the roast potatoes tasted stale. No staff came over to us during our meal so I could tell them about my issues. I had to go to the bar and pay and the man asked me how my meal was I told him and he didn’t seem interested in the slightest. For £24 per person it was terrible. Would not recommend.

Honestly the best roast I think we’ve EVER had… and we’ve had some good ones. The food was absolutely delicious, staff were friendly and attentive and the place has a lovely atmosphere. It was particularly nice that the chef came out to check on people with their food and asks for feedback directly. Very impressed and would be back like a shot!

One of my most depressing dining events during my four-day stay at Bourton OTW. Service was slow and spotty (restaurant was half empty and there were plenty of servers yet they couldn't follow up on orders soon enough). My entree looked like it was thrown together with leftovers. I left feeling disappointed. I suggest you avoid my experience by avoiding this place.

Just returned from a short stay at the lovely Mousetrap Inn. Just what you expect from the Cotswolds a unique and quirky Inn. Great friendly welcome from all the staff as soon as we arrived. We were shown to our room by a lovely polite member of staff. We had booked to have our evening meal we either and can highly recommend the beef bourguignon it just melts in your mouth delicious. The chef even came to speak to guests. The young lady who served the breakfast is delightful and makes your morning start off well along with their delicious full English. The rooms are clean and cosy. Bed pillows are unfortunately very flat ! But this tiny thing did not spoil our stay. Thank you we will return.

You will find the Mousetrap in the most picture perfect quintessential part of the Cotswolds. The atmosphere on arrival is charming! Servers are inviting and well informed on all that the Mousetrap has to offer. We sampled excellent wine and lunch from the new menu. We could not recommend the Grilled 3 cheese sandwich enough! Delicious.

A beauty of Bourton on the Water with food to match. This stunning pub had just re-opened and you wouldn’t tell that they had be closed. The pub was bustling with people and it set a lovely warm and cosy vibe. The service was excellent and all the staff made you feel very welcome as soon as you entered the premises.
