Visited here for a cream tea & couldn’t have made a better choice. The scones were warm & delicious with plenty of jam & cream given. The surroundings are really lovely & the staff could not have been more friendly. Service was very efficient. Highly recommend

Called in here in the past and never had any issues, sadly this time around we had several. Signs outside and in the windows advertising sandwiches when we ordered we was told by the very young staff that none was on offer. after a quick look at what was on offer rather than confusing the youngsters any more we just decided to have a sausage roll and a steak bake, sadly this took almost 10-15 minutes and all they had to do was warm it up. unfortunately the steak bake appeared to be a Cornish pasty or that's what it tasted and looked like so just ended up putting in the bin as we had eft the area. As I say i don't blame the youngsters who was in the store as they clearly lacked any leadership or management

Nice location and layout. We sat in the conservatory area out back, but could have sat in their small garden or in the front, so plenty of choice. When we went in, they told us that the kitchen had stopped cooking, so only cake and pasties available. I was ok with that because they told us up front. They were ok with us taking the dogs in too. They were friendly enough, but nobody looked like they really enjoyed their job or cared for it, or the customers. They took our orders after we waited several minutes (there was hardly anyone else there). My missus ordered the afternoon tea and I ordered pasty, chips and a coke. They didn’t ask if we had any allergies or offer the dogs any water. My food came after not many minutes, but after approx 15 mins, I had to ask for the other meal and both our drinks. They said they’d processed it wrong. Once it finally did arrive, we had to call them back as there was no cutlery on the table. The missus’ scone was ok, but not great. It was on the old side. My pasty was dry, there was no dressing for the salad and they omitted to put the chutney on the plate, despite it being specifically mentioned on the menu. Overall, the place is nice, the food is expensive and below average, and the staff don’t seem to care. Such a shame!

Stopped here for lunch to refuel as we walked the Cheddar Gorge Cliff Top walk. Cheddar was very busy in the middle of summer hols but we had no issues getting a table going early around 12. Service was quick and helpful; the waitress was able to advise on allergens in the sauces for me. Food was uncomplicated and enjoyable, chips were cooked nice and crispy. Cakes looked very good although we didn’t have a second course on this occasion. We noticed there were kids, dogs and wheelchair users dining so this seems like a welcoming cafe for all.

I’m sorry to leave a 1⭐️r review - I wish I could’ve left a 0 star review. My gluten free scones arrived still frozen - they were brought back after a blast in the microwave. Parts were popping hot - other parts were crispy and hard. My pot of tea was cold before my gluten free tea arrived. My son ordered a pasty and chips - after 32 minutes it arrived - we were about to leave. There weren’t many customers in the cafe either. Not impressed - don’t make the same mistake with others as you’ve done with us

Visited this cafe at 3.40 on a bitterly cold Friday afternoon. There were another 3 couples in the cafe all eating. Went to the counter and ordered 2 teas. We were told that as they close at 4pm we couldn’t sit inside they could only do takeaway and we could sit in the courtyard. Asked if any more cafes in Cheddar would be open we were told no they would all be closed. We took our teas into the garden despite it being freezing and the chairs were filthy. We could see the customers inside in the warm. When we’d finished at 3.55 we went back inside the cafe to use the toilets as it was still open and still had customers. On my way out I expressed my opinion that we could easily have enjoyed our tea in the warm as there were still customers inside and was told that the couple eating was the owners son and family and they were allowed to be there. The owner was very rude to me. Why have closing hours advertised on Facebook as 4.45pm? On walking further into Cheddar we passed 4 cafes all still open, very busy and serving so despite being told there would be nowhere open there were actually plenty we could have gone to.

Myself and my partner wanted a lunch out as it was our first time visiting cheddar. We took a menu to look at the lunch selection, but didn’t feel it was what we wanted. We settled on wanting a coffee as an alternative. When going up to order our coffees, before I had even gotten a chance to speak, I was told by a staff member to sit down and someone would be with me (in a very abrupt manner). I waited 10 minutes and in that space saw 5 people served and spoken to kindly. I left the cafe and did not order as I felt the way I was spoken to was very rude and out of order for a cafe.

We popped in about 2pm for some afternoon tea. We were sat opposite the kitchen on a sofa with a coffee table, but we did agree to this on the way in as there was no other seating. After being given menus, we settled on afternoon tea for 2 at a cost of £28. Our server told us she’d grab a menu for afternoon tea so we knew our options but she never did, she just started reeling sandwich/cake options off the top of her head. We put in our order and waited. Please be advised that if you’re offered this sofa, you do not want to sit there!! We had a line of waitresses opposite us, who were staring around the room who we locked eyes with several times and this made us feel really uncomfortable. From this particular seat you can also see straight into the kitchen where we witnessed a waitress with super long acrylic nails adding salad to plates after touching her note book and pen etc. she didn’t appear to wash her hands afterwards. Food then arrives, and at this point we’re quite put off. The tea arrived 15 mins after ordering along with the food, so was incredibly stewed. Sandwiches were fine (they got the bread mixed up but hey ho). We took our scones and cakes home as we didn’t feel comfortable. Scones were delicious however cakes didn’t taste overly fresh out, raspberry Bakewell quite dry. We asked for some takeaway boxes, and the bill and sat and waited patiently. In the end we were charged £36 when the menu price states £28! £36 to take half of it home, some stewed tea and the most uncomfortable experience?! Absolutely not. I decided I wanted to try this cafe as I’ve tried most of the rest up the gorge however I would definitely swing towards the lion rock next time! Gutted we didn’t just pop in there instead.

Chose this place because of its outside seating area in a pleasant square. The service was appallingly slow. My husband didn't enjoy his coffee - it was bitter. Average cake. Claggy scones. My pot of tea didn't arrive till ten minutes after everything else. It had clearly been forgotten and was luke warm and stewed by the time I got it. Wouldn't eat here again. There are far better places in Cheddar.

VERY DISAPPOINTED , WE ATTENDED LAST SUNDAY FOR AN AFTERNOON CREAM TEA AND DRINKS WHILST ON A VISIT TO CHEDDAR. THE WARNING SIGNS WERE THERE AS WE SAW PEOPLE RECEVING THE WRONG ORDERS AND OTHERS LEAVING BEFORE THEIR ORDERS ARRIVED. SO WE ORDERED OUR ONE CREAM TEA AND SOME HOT CHOCOLATES. ABOUT HALF AN HOUR LATE 3 CREAM TEAS ARRIVED AND I EXPLAINED THAT I HAD ONLY ORDERED 1 AND SO THEY WERE TAKEN AWAY. THE HOT CHOCOLATES ARRIVED AND THEY WERE VERY WEAK AND THEN THE ONE CREAM TEA ARRIVED. THE SCONE WAS LIKE A BISCUIT IT WAS SO THIN THAT YOU COULDN'T CUT IT IN HALF TO PUT THE CREAM AND JAM IN. SO WE THEN ASKED FOR THE BILL AND THE YOUNG LADY BROUGHT IT OVER TO US , I CHECKED AND EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS WRONG SHE SAID NO ITS BEEN CHECKED BY HER MANAGER. I EXPLAINED AGAIN WHY IT WAS WRONG AND SHE JUST ROLLED HER EYES AT ME AND WENT OFF TO RE CHECK THE AMOUNT. WHEN SHE RETURNED SHE CONFIRMED THAT I WAS RIGHT AND MY WIFE ASKED IF SHE WAS GOING TO APOLOGISE BUT SHE IGNORED THE COMMENT. WE COULDN'T WAIT TO GET OUT AND WON'T BE GOING BACK.

Passed this spot many times whilst being in Cheddar and finally visited on Sunday 19th March. Whilst we waited for our food to be cooked, we had to listen to a 'manager' giving the staff members (who all seemed young) a right telling off. Whilst I appriciate you may need to do this, it's embarassing to do this in front of customers. Felt really sorry for them and the talking down the received. We waited around 30 minutes for our 2 toasted sandwiches - not worth the wait or the £8 price tag per sandwich. Won't be returning in a hurry.

Following visiting the caves looking for somewhere to have a afternoon treat came across this lovely looking place. As we entered and asked if they were still serving food at 15:30, particularly pancakes which were advertised outside. They didn’t look impressed and advised that they were due to shut at 16:00. Our 2 year old son chose a table and as we sat we weren’t provided with a menu or asked if we wanted a drink. About 5/10 minutes later we asked if we could see a menu to which the response was the kitchen is closed we can only do pancakes and maple syrup. At this point we should have left the place. However we stayed and ordered them. When the pancakes came they were cold after being covered in maple syrup. They were just reheated in the microwave. We felt rushed in eating our food and not welcome at all. Overall disappointed wish they said no in the first place.

This restaurant/cafe is located near the start of the Gorge at Cheddar. It appears to be run by young staff, who, on the whole are quick and efficient. However they were somewhat let down by a male member of staff who after sweeping the floor around and under a table, proceeded to clean the top of the table with the same brush. We noted that there was no attempt to sanitise the table after his actions, so can only assume that it is normal practice. A shame really because the food was fine. We were just glad we had completed our meal before witnessing this act.

A very good Pasty, reluctant to say it was a fantastic Cornish Pasty due to the possibility of inciting inter borough/County violence but it was a Pasty I would put in the top 2% of pasties because: 1) It was warm-hot 2) they actaully cooked the beef nicely and was tender. 3) a very perfect balance of crust versus filling. 4) a great balance of potato and beef, and I was driving... so lucky to not be pulled by a Cop whilst attempting to shove the Pasty down my throat as quickly as possible. Highly recommended. Mousehole Staff...you will never be forgotten. Tim.

Very poor service from the staff. All looked miserable. It Would have been a better choice having chips from the chippy next door the sausages served were burnt. Wouldn't recommend eating here and we are quite local.

Just had a couple of panini's and the kids had sausage and chips. The portions were quite large and the quality very good. Price was also very good. Would recommend.

We decided to visit this cafe today for Coffee, and all of us could not finish the drink as it was terrible, I told the staff, however, they did not appear to be interested and still took my money!

We had been here before for lunch and enjoyed it, but not this time. Two of us had Cornish pasties which are served with chips, coleslaw and salad. The pasties had been microwaved and the edges of the pastry were too hard to cut, the chips were overcooked and hard, the coleslaw was really poor quality and not homemade, but the salad was ok. The other two of us had a sandwich and a panini which were ok, but not spectacular. We each had one soft drink and the bill was nearly £40, I don't think we will be returning in a hurry.

We visited here for breakfast yesterday, my poached egg on toast was delicious and the full english were enjoyed by the others too. Apparently the pancake portion was quite small. I blinked and missed it so it must have been small (had to nip to the car for something).

The young girl who greeted us was lovely and friendly. I took our menus up to the front to order (not realising they would come over to us, this wasn't mentioned) and a VERY rude woman, perhaps the owner or a manager, snapped at me that they would be over when they were ready. Another young girl too our order, very lovely again and we ordered 2 paninis for a quick lunch. After 25mins of waiting, I overheard a table being told there as a half an hour wait, why weren't we told this? So after 30mins I asked the rude lady from before if they would be long and snapped at me yet again that they were busy and there was a long wait. No smile, no appology, just rudenes. I was so angry that we left without our food. Better cusomer service is needed. Half hour for a couple of paninis is not good enough but with a smile and an appology we would have waited.

Whilst on a family holiday, we decided to pop in here for breakfast, the sign said pancakes and waffles. The kids said yes! Although neither had that once they saw the menu lol

Called in for breakfast, the first thing I would like to say is PLEASE if you are offering bacon or sausage sandwiches ask your client if they want butter on the sandwich! For some people this is very important.

I was a single tourist and went in late on Saturday the 13th July this year - arriving only about 10 minutes before the ladies were going to close. They insisted it was no trouble and I said I wouldn't be long, and I was served the most delicious cream tea sitting outside through the back of the Restaurant. I wasn't rushed at all - used the Toilet facilities before I left. Just wished I had arrived earlier and experienced more of what the chef - who I did bump into - could have provided me with - no doubt - a delicious lunch too ! I was made to feel very welcome by both ladies when I left - everything was very clean - and I am planning on returning next year.

I like Blackmore Farm tearooms usually but today service was poor. Ordered 2 flat white coffees both lukewarm. Also ordered 2 cream teas, since when does a ceram tea come with no tea? If the assistant had said I needed to order tea separately I would have. I'd finished my scone before knowing. Spoilt the experience.
