This is the best cafe in Cheddar and it has allot of heart! Very cosy and cute! Love the furnishings very quirky and welcoming. Food really delicious and wholesome. Great art work as well.

A fantastic local cafe run by lovely staff who help provide opportunities to those in the community who really need it. Come here if you want to give something back to society whilst enjoying a great atmosphere, food and drink.

We parked up in Cheddar on a brief visit and asked the locals where we could buy breakfast. We were directed to The Café and were not disappointed. We ordered the small breakfast. It was beautifully cooked and presented. The toast was so good I asked the staff where they got their bread from. We were really pleased we found this little gem.

We were visiting for a few days and spotted the Cafe as we first walked into town. It was later in the afternoon and we fancied a coffee so popped in, after first having checked that they allowed dogs in. I ordered a cream tea and my partner had the homemade carrot cake. Which were both excellent. The staff made such a fuss of our little dog and gave her some treats, she loved it. This cafe is clearly a local community favourite, away from the commercial area of the Gorge. We will go back if we are in Cheddar again.

The team that run this place are some of the nicest people I have ever met. They sell you the most wonderful cakes sandwiches and treats served with real love and NO guilt.

Called in for lunch and had a very tasty burger with lots of fresh salad and the bowl of cheesy chips was a lot larger than we thought it would be. Fresh cooked food and at a very reasonable price in pleasant surroundings.

Arrived at midday, wasnt busy (its January, and raining!) Clean and light. Toilets very clean. Staff friendly. Food and coffee came quickly and were hot. Happy with the prices, and noticed there were gluten free and vegan cakes also!

Went here for coffee and were surprised at how good the coffee and cakes were. Very friendly staff and good service. Furniture was quite tied and needs replacing.

Super service, incredible food. I have been here on other occassions in the day time but this was a special event that brought foods from different parts of the world and it was a taster menu. I was not expecting so much for the price and it definitely exceeded our expectations in quality and quantity. Compliments to the chef!

We were stating nearby and popped in for breakfast- we ordered 2 coffees, a full monty hot chocolate, 2 full English & 1 mini breakfast. We got to the counter and realised they do not accept card payments so had to pop down the road to the cash point. The lady on the counter said it’s because they’re a charity and they cant justify the cost which seemed reasonable to me! The food and drinks arrived quickly and the portions were a good size. Everything was reasonably priced and the staff friendly- thats all you need really!

Stopped for a mid morning coffee. Drinks came swiftly, two out of four spilled in the saucers, bucket seat area needs to be replaced along with some of the decorating that is worn and could easily be upgraded. Coffee was good.

Stayed at nearby Petruth Paddocks Campsite and The Cafe was within walking distance. Very friendly and helpful staff and a yummy plentiful brunch. We will definitely return on our next trip to Cheddar.

We stopped at The Cafe for a cream tea. There was plenty of room to sit down, but we had to wait at the service desk for a while to order because the "lad" taking orders seemed to be a bit in a fluster. We waited half an hour, when eventually our scones arrived, but without the tea. Having waited a little while longer, we then decided to ask about the tea. We had to ask three times until it was finally brought to our table. Meanwhile the scones had gone cold - we did not complain about that. However, we were not impressed with the cleanliness of the to cups supplied to us, which looked as if they'd only been swirled out with cold water. Going to the service desk once more to ask for clean cups, we were told they didn't have any. However, we spotted a whole set of coffee cups which looked sparkling clean. Having asked for one of those, the young member of staff reluctantly gave us two clean cups. We agree with "emjayjay" who wrote in their review: "The staff seemed like teenage boys [and girls] 'playing' at running a café rather than people doing it for a living."

Ordered twoadult and one mini veg breakfasts at 12 ish. The staff were more concerned about saving me money than actually getting the orders right. Took about 35 minutes for the food and drinks to arrive, and then they forgot my son's mini veg breakfast. People who arrived after us were served quicker and it was disappointing to have to wait so long. The staff seemed like teenage boys 'playing' at running a café rather than people doing it for a living.

Eight of us went here for coffee on a cycle ride. There were four empty tables and despite this, the service was very slow. The drinks were tasted good and were at reasonable prices, so we might go again. There were not enough places to park our cycles.

I was leading a walk and went in with the walkers as we did not have enough time to walk to the touristy area and then get the bus at 4 pm - this is the main part of "town" away from the hub of all the tourist shops and tourist prices.

The back door to the cafe was open as it was a sunny day ,the smoke from staff and customer smoking entered the cafe.I watched two members of staff wipe the tables both of them wiped around the things on the table not lifting them ,the food was ok ,4 staff member took 20 minutes to make 2 teas and 1 coffee ,serving us with items missing from the tray,a lack of listening and walking away when I was talking to them made the visit unpleasant

Came in just after 9 am to kill time before my doctors appointment that was in an hours time. Well what a waste of time that was. The place was half empty. Ordered two bacon baps and a kids beans on toast and waited almost an hour for them. Absolutely ridiculous. It was literally two pieces of bacon chucked in a roll that took almost an hour. Can't believe it. Won't be coming back.

Left wookey hole and decided to venture some place else for breakfast.WH, did not cater for our vegetation needs. There was a lot on offer, but I personally would rather not eat cereals, I felt like a hot breakfast. We drove to cheddar and managed to park just of Bath street, I could see my car whilst in the cafe, we arrived at 9am, left at ten and the place was full. They only take cash, so I paid for food and ran 50 metres up the road to a cash point. Then ordered drinks too.Our food was perfect, only problem, to large! The vegetarian sausage was just that, vegetables, no added dairy, perfect for us.They even have the option of gluten free bread, perfect! The menu states soya milk if requested, rice milk would be the perfect option, but this option worked for us. Really good value money, lovely staff, very relaxed atmosphere and lovely place. We had a tropical smoothie, WOW, full of flavour and perfect with out breakfast!!If we are in this area again we will stop in.

Odd that the main photo shown on this site is NOT of the cafe in question as it it is located on the main road through the town and thus very central!! I had an all-day breakfast which was cheap, pleasantly served and with better-than-average sausages which is always a good test for a cafe i.e. .........is there more bread in them that the toast! The cafe is nicely decorated and although of an unusual shape is quite spacious. Worth a visit.

Popped into the cafe for a coffee and bite to eat on a rainy afternoon. Prices were decent, however despite a notice informing that hot food stopped at 4.45, we were told that they didn't serve hot food after 3. This was after a walk in the rain to the cash point as they don't take cards. So, after that business, we had our drinks, which tasted awful. The hot chocolate tasted watery, the coffee was vile. Won't be going back!

We went for a tasting menu to the Café at Porlock Weir and I was apprehensive as I am not a great fish eater. I came away amazed at how much I enjoyed this meal. I can honestly say that it was the best meal that I had ever had. I am longing to go back. The whole plaice was so fresh it could have just been caught. The scallops were divine and I was seen mopping up the delicious sauce with my bread (not something I usually do). It was all so beautiful. The wines were very well priced and we had an absolutely fantastic Marlborough Sauvignon blanc. This is first class for quality and service.

This cafe is a community cafe, run by one of the local churches. It is a great focal point in the community and helps to promote local activities and services as well. The food is all freshly made to order - and is really good value for what you get.Whilst the menu is not extensive, it is creative : and as I said the quality and value are superb.

I like Blackmore Farm tearooms usually but today service was poor. Ordered 2 flat white coffees both lukewarm. Also ordered 2 cream teas, since when does a ceram tea come with no tea? If the assistant had said I needed to order tea separately I would have. I'd finished my scone before knowing. Spoilt the experience.
