The Mount Tavern in Birmingham

Had a family meal for my Nan’s birthday, there was 8 of us and the food came out so hot and fresh still sizzling on the table. The food is 11/10 really recommend this place.

If you’re craving an Indian mixed grill and you want to eat at a place that serves really good authentic Indian food then try this place out. The mixed grill includes lamb chops, kebabs, chicken tikka/wings, fish and prawns. All taste decent and the portion is big! The curries are above average. Naans are fresh!

Great food and drink. Reasonably priced. Great service. Enjoy it every time we come here. Toni always greets us with a smile and when we leave always says thank you for coming.

Quiet - it was a Sunday evening

We visited here on a Saturday evening with our friends, food was beautiful, fresh and large portions. We ordered the large mixed grill, and there was enough to feed both me and my husband. The staff were lovely and nothing seemed too much trouble. Prices are really reasonable. I would recommend giving it a try. We will definitely be returning.

Excellent place to visit. Food is brilliant, huge portions, tasty and great price. Photo attached is of the mini grill and was definitely bigger than mini, which is great. They even give you a takeaway box so you can take what you don't eat home. The staff are always friendly too.

Really impressed with the food and the service. Huge thank you to Fran who helped us choose our dishes. We had the veggie sizzler which was so tasty followed by a couple of veggie curries. This place is child friendly and Fran even went to the effort to make sure our curries were mild. Olivia was helpful and checked in on us which was lovely. Thanks to the awesome chefs we’ll certainly come back again!!

what an amazing place this is. There was just so much food we ended up bring 5 portions back with nan breads. Six of us ordered various meals including the large grill and vegetarian grill. Everything was absolutely amazing, service was excellent, staff were friendly highly suggest giving them a try you will not be disappointed. thank you

I only live about 2 miles from the Mount Tavern but didnt know about it until an indian friend suggested i give it a try. We decided to order a takeaway and whilst waiting we had a nice cool pint of cobra. I ordered a medium grill and a chicken tikka balti with keema nan. As the weather was lovely we ate the meal outside in our garden. The food was beautiful where the grill was plentiful and well cooked with plenty of meat. The star of the show was the fish pakora. The balti was the right heat and was made with fresh ingredients There was too much for two so we put what was left in the fridge. I have been to all the indian grill pubs in the locality an this ranks as one of the best. Enjoy

Went here this evening for food. Had chicken tikka that was inedible, left the lot. If you like scrag pieces of chicken then you may enjoy it. Popadoms had been cooked in dirty oil very disappointing

Great little pub, definitely better than what it used to be, with a nice pint of guiness too!

The food is alright. The chicken tikka is thigh meat, not breast, you can definitely tell the difference. Starters will arrive with the main so you have to pick which one you’ll eat cold. Portion sizes are generous though. Staff are all polite. The lady running it (blonde & loud) is nice enough but sits at tables her friends are at and forgetting other people are paying money to eat there, is very, very loud (swearing too). Not very professional or welcoming.

Ordered starter& main came out altogether,so by the time finished starter(which was cold)anyway, curry was sitting there getting cold too..definitely won't be going back!!

After numerous visits we find the food is consistently of a high standard and good value for money. The bar staff friendly and efficient.

This is the 2nd time I have been here for a meal. The service is amazing and the food is to die for. Toni the manager is very welcoming and has great customer service skills. The wait time for our food was 10mins. Will definitely be going back again.

Was my 1st time visiting here food and service was amazing staff are lovely and friendly food came out quick drinks are reasonably price would definitely recommend. Went with family for birthday celebration think would be great if they used the space out the back for children a play area or something would be great as children get bored and not many places have anything for children to do so it would be perfect if they did 😀

Great food at a reasonable price and friendly service, it was very noisy so probably not the best place for younger people.

Very welcoming staff, the food was excellent and the service very good. A large beer garden at the back is a bonus. Will happily return in the near future.

This is a little gem of a place. Decent mixed grill, vegetarian and meat ones. Their curries and naan were pretty good too. First time here so tried the 'medium' spiciness option for lamb bhuna, which was very tasty but just a little tame. Next time I will go for the 'hotter' one. Nice atmosphere, and great service. Will be back soon.

Lovely experience, first time here, went with my son , the staff member behind the bar was lovely friendly and very helpful and polite. The service was 💯. The large mixed grill was fire 🔥......................... loved the lamb biryani and the chilli chips best by far. Premises were clean and fresh definitely will be going back with the family and friends................................. 🍲

Couldn't wait to try this place after reading the great reviews. Easy to review...not that cheap, not that good. Positives - Genious portions and service is good. Also, I appreciate the idea of serving Indian food away from an restaurant setting. I wish you good luck.

We came here to watch the football a couple of weeks ago. It was a nice place and the grill was decent. Other customers in at that time were friendly and we ended up having a laugh together! Can't knock it, would deffo come back if I'm in the area.

Food so spicy I can't eat it, I have eaten there earlier and quality was better, I ordered from them today and I will not come back

Me my family visited for the first time, on Saturday,was absolutely beautiful , there was 14 of us , there was no mistakes with orders , food came out all together, beautiful food could not believe how much chicken was in my balti was really impressed, Toni was a excellent host very friendly. Probably a bit unfair to rate a 4 on food but it wasn't all to our taste. I did love that you could choose how hot your meal was and the chilli chips were to die for! I will be back for those alone. Looking forward to trying other bits on the menu and seeing what else we like there

Our first visit for my birthday. I was a little sceptical at first due to previous repution. I need not have worried. We had a fab night. Toni and her team were lovely. Food was excellent. Very generous portions. I had my go to favourite of chicken pathia and can honestly say it was the best I've tasted. Will definitely be back. Thank you

4.5 rating for me, fabulous food, plenty of options for vegetarians, arguably the veg-mix grill is better than the meat one. Nice creamy veg butter chicken and veg chilli soya. I must say Mount Tavern is better in food and service than Hamptons Soho Tavern. Nothing beats the original Soho Tavern in Hockley though ;)

Been here many times with friends and family .and the foods been great .staff are friendly and helpful. unfortunately had a takeaway last night and it really was dreadful. chicken tikka was grisly and certainly not tilka and keema nan which is normally lovely was lacking keema .did ring to explain so hopefully just a one of certainly will try again .thanks

Really Rude Manager , killed the atmosphere on what should have been a good night. You have pay per person up front for the food. Apologies , however the young people serving were really helpful and excellent.

What a great place, its a pub that is also an Indian resteraunt which serves some amazing food. The large cheese and tikka naan bread is amazing on its own but add a mixed grill, which is huge BTW, and you wouldnt believe its a pub. Excellent prices and well worth a visit.

Good quality food and very quick service

Apart from the chips tasting reheated and stale. The food was of decent quality. Nothing to write home about. Worked out to apprx £24 each not including drinks and one of us being a child,(children's menu is nuggets/fish fingers and chips), who doesn't eat processed meats so ordered from the main menu.

Brilliant indian grill. Our new favorite place to eat as a family of 5 (2 adults + 3 kids) Large mix grill is more than enough for 2 or 3 to share with extras on top (naan, chip, rice etc)

Took my mom and my family members to try this place for the first time and they was all so impressed the food is so tasty and the staff are lovely and friendly Highly recommend this place is the best curry I have had in a long time

Love this place as its within walking distance for me and my family. The food is exceptional and they always cater for my very mild palet. The staff are lovely and very chatty. You don't have to eat you can just go and have a relaxing drink. Best place around.

Excellent quality, very tasty Indian food , massive portions fed four of us and the take home "doggy bag" ample for three more! Lovely friendly courteous staff. Especially the Boss lady and two very polite pretty girls one blond one and one from Nepal. Exceptional value and service.

was recommended to go by some friends of ours and popped up there on a Monday night. The pub was very quiet and there was 3-4 staff available. Anyway, food came and the Indian girl serving didn't have a clue what dish was what, the onion bhaji was disgusting and uneaten. The currys weren't to bad but nothing to write home about. Chips were frozen and undercooked. Service wise, we ordered dessert and they hadn't cleared the table whilst they were bringing over desserts. We had to ask to clear them or move tables. A couple were eating across the room from us and they left probably 45 minutes before anyone cleared there table. Look it wasn't terrible and it's a great idea but it's not for me I'm afraid and I won't be going again. There are far more better eating places than this. Good luck with it though. Thank you Update: our friends convinced us to go again so we tried it and have to say it was much better than the first time. I still don't think it's quite as good as other local places but whatever went wrong the first time we went, it improved 200% the second time. Only thing I'll say, the Buttered Chicken is very bland and frankly horrible. Other than that, the Pathia I had was nice, naan bread were delicious and they do a great selection of beers at the bar. Staff were great, food was quick. Much better experience. Try it.

Recently had a take away from this place, the food was okay. I only ordered a mixed grill with garlic naan and have to say the food arrived fresh and hot. However the quality is so so, it was very greasy and oily for a mixed grill which you don’t expect. As a result of oily dish this caused me a few issues. In general it was okay, I’m going to go to the restaurant to try it out properly! One suggestion is please use sustainable containers, plastic is no good!

A local eatery & bar that we hadn't tried before, but we'll definitely be going back to, for sure. The food was fantastic and there was plenty of it. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the service was spot on. Given it's also a tavern, I can say the beers are also well looked after and the bar is well stocked. It's a hidden gem that you'll be glad to find.

Bar staff was great but food average at best. No salard or dips with fish / chicken pakora?? Only with a mixed grill? That's crazy. So had a plate of fryed food with no sides? Just tight lol and salard (fresh) makes all the difference. Every other grill serves fresh salard with starters!

Visited on a Tuesday evening, wasn't very busy but plenty of food was being served, which was a good sign. We ordered a large mix grill, garlic naans, masla chips and a kids meal. All the food was cooked perfectly and season well. The service and welcome from the staff and assistant manager was great, and we will definitely be returning.

My grandma took me , the misses and daughter out for my daughters birthday meal and the food was amazing the one bar staff member Cheryl went above and beyond to make our meal amazing she was lovely , the Asian bird that worked in the kitchen was lovely also , amazing food will be coming again definitely

Been there tonight 6 people could not knock any thing, would highly recommend it.

Tonight was our first time ordering from here after MANY recommendations! We ordered a Large Grill, Tikka Starter, Chips, 3 x Naan Breads, and a Chicken Pathia. When it arrived the delivery driver asked if we were having a Party to which I (mildly confused) said no. After unpacking the meal I then understood what he meant! If this review was as big as the order we received you would be reading it for the next month! It was AMAZING. My partner is currently having a lie down attempting to come to terms with the meaty experience he has just had. Excellent value for money. Food was immense. And I asked for a bit of salad for my little boy which they provided with a little note which was a lovely touch. Will definitely be ordering again. Next time we will most likely come to the restaurant to get the full experience. When my partner has got over the meat sweats of course! Banging Food! Highly Recommend.

Popped in on a random spur of the moment. So glad we did. The food was amazing. Didn’t expect the amount we got. We ordered poppadoms and prawns for starters. I had a korma and egg fried rice and my friend had the medium grill and friend rice. Couldn’t believe the amount of food that came out and the quality was outstanding. Left feeling so full. The staff are amazing as well. The landlady Toni was really welcoming and her bar staff was always ready to help. Looking at when we can go again! Thank you mount tavern.

Visited the mount tavern for the first time on the 10/04/23 with a family of 8 and can’t fault a single thing, the service was perfect the curry’s were absolutely beautiful and staff more than happy to provide us with doggy bags to take home the surplus food, portions were fab, food was piping hot and overall a great friendly team and lovely tasting authentic food :) will return again 100% Well done everyone that was working for our visit

At last a local worthy of a visit on our doorstep! The food is simply beautiful, ordered chilli fish and a chicken balti and it was superb! Huge portions so we know for next time! Glad to see the local pub open and improved. Wonderful staff as well, very friendly and helpful. The whole family enjoyed it. We will be back =)

We visited yesterday, Saturday afternoon. The food was delicious and the portions were great. The staff was very nice and the chef came out to meet with us and got our feedback. There's ample parking space for all patrons.

First time here tonight. Food was amazing. Portions a good size and very tasty. Had medium grill for starter which could easily feed 4 people. Mains very tasty. Chicken Tikka, Butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. Really was value for money and very tasty. Highly recommended.

5 star all the was through. The food was AMAZING, the staff were brilliant, chatty and really engaged with us. The chilli paneer was incredible. Decent prices. Will definitely become a regular here.

There is a distinct lack of tables here. There only seems to be one till and only one place you can order food. The food is not fantastic. We had onion bhaji starter, medium curry and a chicken tikka curry. In all fairness, mine was ok. The Tikka left a lot to be desired. The massala chips seem to be just chips with a bit of shake on them. Will I be returning? I won't rush back and I know my wife and son won't return. Shame really, as it could be really good there.

What an experience! I will 100% be returning. Me and my partner came last night for a meal and drinks. We didn't book and it was very busy but we still managed to get a table. The food was ordered and on our table within 15 minutes. It was absolutely beautiful, so full of flavour. The staff are so friendly and willing to go out of there way to help you. It's a hidden gem and we will be making regular visits here, I already can't wait to go again to try something else of the menu.
