Excellent food and dink and amazing place to eat

This was an unplanned random visit and we were lucky enough to be accommodated a table. Therefore, we didn't mind waiting a while to be served. Nice ambience and relaxing atmosphere. Service was really pleasant, and nothing too over powering and accommodating. Food was pretty decent. Really enjoyed it. All starters were spot on, and the mains were very good too. Prices were reasonable and overall very pleased. We use to go here when it was the old single front narrow and long, but since the renovation we had not been, and now would definitely go again. Went again within 3 weeks, this time with parents (you know how fussy they can be) well everyone from my nephew to my parents and my fussy sisters all enjoyed everything we ordered. Now I changed my star rating as this time I remembered to take pictures! Will be definitely returning back to carry on trying different items from menu.

Wonderful top end Indian cuisine.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Raj Monkey Restaurant, and I must say, the experience was delightful. The beef biryani was incredibly flavorful, perfectly cooked, and the spices were just right. The mutton chops were tender, juicy, and packed with mouthwatering goodness. As for dessert, it was the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal. However, I must admit that the prices were a bit on the higher side. Despite that, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience definitely made it worth it. I highly recommend trying out Raj Monkey Restaurant for a taste of authentic and delicious Indian cuisine!

Excellent food and excellent service. We visited for the first time this evening for my Wife's birthday and was given a quiet table as requested. Very attentive and friendly staff. The food was excellent quality and very tasty. I would definitely recommend this place.

Been a while since I have returned, and the menu has changed. It has truly developed to another amazing level. The dishes are better than before, the flavours are exceptionally outstanding and the presentation is, well, it’s on a Michelin standard. They do deserve the star! Came from Manchester, and never regret stopping here for a fine experience. 10/10.

This is a hidden gem and as a Bangladeshi I truly appreciated the flavours and aroma of the food. It was truly authentic and I feel like the food in itself was a work of art. I loved the attention to detail and the mutton chops were out of this world. I particulary enjoyed the jalfrezi, the buttery naan and the somosa chaat. We tried the monkfish and it was different but a tasty Thai infused treat. The only reason why I gave them one less star is because I would have appreciated more chicken in the curry madras, although the sauce in itself was inquisitive. Bigger portion sizes would be great but the service was fantastic.

Tasty food.Arrived for 6 ish so early and we were the only ones in there, on a week day.Hyderabadi curry and roti is yummy and spicy.

What a great restaurant and no need to even go into town! Really impressed with the range of food, flavours and staff, would highly recommend.

Decided on a whim to have curry for lunch… bit of research and an hour later we were in Hall Green. Parking around the corner easy, attentive and friendly prompt service and great food. The samosa chat was just ok but the rest of the food was great, excellent authentic flavours!

The food we had was so good , full of flavour and worth the price. The menu was excellent there was something for everyone. The only complaint was that the service could have been better. When we were seated we wasn't given a menu and after over 10 mins someone came over to take our order but we hadn't even been given a menu ! It was 7 30 on a Saturday night so maybe that was why but we felt were waiting quite a while , then had to wait a while to order then had to wait a while to then order more drinks during our meal as no one seemed to come by our table. There was a large party at the back of the restaurant so maybe that was why. We will still come again as food was top notch just maybe a little earlier next time.

Went last night for an anniversary meal. Booked a booth away from the door, arrived 15 mins early. Elected to go to Hall Green rather than the far closer Harborne, simply because being on crutches, parking is a consideration. The best thing about Harborne, is the roads out of it! We were met with warmth, and seated immediately. Given time to peruse the very different menu, over our drinks, a most informed member of staff, interpreted the unfamiliar choices? My partner, not favouring too much heat, was able to have a more temperate meal, cooked especially for her. I chose the stuffed crab in Madras sauce, quite exceptional! The staff were attentive, but not intrusive, and our booth, adjacent to the open kitchen, allowed us to watch our meals being cooked with complete transparency. Would I recommend this place? 100% yes. Would I object to waiting at busy times? Never, its worth waiting for. I checked in on FB before departing, and got glowing reviews from many of my friends that had visited, notably, one from the US, and another from Jamaica, and another from darkest Black Country! Can't believe this place has eluded me till now? Yes, we went on a valued recommendation!

Poppadoms and sauces great. Dosa OK. Chicken curry fair. Nans good. Service lacking due to staff shortages. Expensive for what we got.

The service was slow at the beginning considering we’d booked for 7 had to wait 15 mins until they got us a table. That’s after we’d been told you weren’t on the bookings list but we still found a table for you. Food was average my husbands chicken Malai tikka was slightly pink and the chaat was ok. Thank god the mains were better. Overall an average experience

The food is incredible!! A friend of mine suggested I go here as the food is great and so I booked a table. We arrived and the service was amazing (they even opened the door for us!) and the food really stole the show - we had a paneer makhani and a beef biriyani and it was incredible! Definitely recommend 100%! And a lovely chat at the end - we’ll definitely be back!

Truly the finest Indian restaurant in Birmingham, the selection of Pakistani Indian and Bangladeshi food was exemplary. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of service cleanliness and attention to detail. I would highly recommend the shrimp curry. Initially I thought about getting a takeaway order but the pleasant ambience made me change my mind and I decided to eat in with my guests. Located in Hall Green will definitely be returning to this very fine Indian restaurant

Don't really know what to say (to do this place justice). The staff were very tentative and had great advice and guidance on their products. It had a lovely atmosphere and was extremely friendly. The open plan kitchen was amazing and sooooo clean and it was fabulous to watch them work their magic 👍👏👏👏

This place is bangin.... having extreme renovation and makeover at the moment. However the food offered here does stand out from the rest of the players in Brum whilst being ranked quite high and being one of the leaders in indian cuisine.

Genuinely the best indian food I have had in a long time. Really great service, the chefs even gave us a free sample dish. Such a great vibe and decor, it's such a gem! Will be back again soon, highly recommend.

Some unusual specials available at this busy restaurant with some on street parking. Very attentive staff able to assess potential spice levels and advise customers accordingly. Proved to be a good option for our groups monthly night out

An absolutely amazing meal. Shimla Prawns is one of the best starters I’ve had in a long time . Highly recommend the traditional chicken curry. Great vibe and comfortable seating. Service by staff was second to none. A hidden gem in Hall Green, Birmingham. New branch opened in Harbourne. Will definitely try that out as well.

Went after such a long time for a Birthday meal but was disappointed for a number of reasons. First the positive: 1. The starters; Dosa, Tandoori chicken & Shimla prawns were a treat (as usual). Cooked to perfection & highly recommended! Negatives: 1. When we walked in, we weren't really given the option to choose where we wanted to sit (we wanted to sit in the booth). After a while we requested to be sat in the booth (there were two empty behind us). We were told they have been reserved (mind you this was an hour before closing time so I find it difficult to believe someone would book a table during the last hour). Having said that, even if I accept someone had made a reservation, it was clear no one was turning up by now so they should've really allowed us. There were no 'reservation' signs on the tables either. I asked if we could be sat on the other side in that case since the side next to the kitchen was all free. There was a slight hesitation again from the waiter who said 'it was cold on that side' but we said we don't mind. Eventually when we were moved, it wasn't cold in the least. We stayed till closing time & both booths that were claimed were reserved were still empty! 2. Moving onto the food, we thought we'd try something different in the mains this time around. We gave Murgh makhni a try & in all honesty it was a BIG dissapointment. The sauce used in the dish was almost like a tomatoe puree or something that would be used as a pasta sauce. All in all, the main was disappointing. I've had this dish before from the place it has originated from so I have some idea how it tastes. It was nothing like it. Having said that I wasn't expecting them to replicate the dish but what I wasn't expecting was a poorly made sauce/gravy. Mind you i have been here several times & have never been disappointed with the food except on this occasion unfortunately which is a shame.

Been wanting to go here for a long time and never have got round to it. Finally went a few weeks back and it was worth the wait. Service was top notch - we had 1 more person than booked turn up and they seated us no problem. Had the monkfish which was superb as was the rest of the food at the table. Waiters were regularly coming over asking if we needed anything. Looking forward to my next visit

This was our second visit here, The menu appears limited, but when you take the time to appreciate the food on offer, it is very nice, and delicately cooked, The chicken was very nicely cooked. I chose a chicken wing starter, and my wife had chicken tikka thighs, we both really enjoyed the food and the mains were just as good. The lads that served us were very polite and helpful. The food is a little expensive but we can see what they are trying to achieve here and both myself and my wife agree it's worth a visit.

Food was ok.. ordered 2 chicken recipes and one of it was not close to actual authentic taste.. yogurt was of red color because of too much red chilli powder in it. I am not able to reply to owner response so can say I am ready to show my bank transfer and exact details to prove that I did dine at your restaurant.

First visit to Raja Monkey, after being on my doorstep for many years - we weren't disappointed the service was great and everyone was very attentive. The decor was fabulous inside and we were greated at the door straight away. Parking can be tricky as location is on the busy Stratford Road The menu may look limited at first glance but there is a good variety of dishes to choose from. The Thali was very good value and really tasty. Would recommend a visit and we will be back

Wonderful food for all palates including Vegans/Vegetarians. I would highly recommend a visit, service was also an added bonus, well-done guys I have considered ordering a takeaway meal but the prices are the same as eating in the restaurant which is not cheap.

We had a fantastic meal here earlier this week. The cooking was not only excellent, but out of this world. The service was friendly and very attentive. Will definitely go back again.

We have the signature dish monkfish, chicken chettinad and chicken korma. All are very delicious especially the monkfish. First class cooking. In our opinions, the food is even better than some of the famous Indian restaurants in Birmingham city!!

A bit too noisy for my liking but the food was nice but my wife's Dosa was simply that and it did not come with the sides that you get at other Dosa serving places. Limited choice of beers.

There are no words to describe this place, just go! I’ll try to explain. it’s by far the best food we have ever had at any restaurant. The flavours. The presentation. The service. The atmosphere. The kitchen you can see what everyone is doing. The food is like Michelin star food, the waiter knew everything about every dish. Unbelievable detail. It’s not cheap. But it’s worth every penny. Four of us were all impressed with everything we had, two of us are chefs. If you’re reading this you have to go it’s a real gem of a place.

Our table was booked for 7pm. We ordered starter and main. The starters were served pretty quickly but the main was not brought out to us until nearly 9pm. Staff then put the air conditioning on so it felt as though they were trying to usher us out quickly after we ate our main course. I asked 3 times if the AC could be turned down or redirected and although 3 different colleagues agreed to turn down the air conditioning, the AC remained on and I was absolutely freezing. We also ordered tea and coffee afterwards but this did not warm me up either

This was our first visit which I wish we had been sooner . The manager greeted us and escorted us to our booth which was ideal. He explained the menu and gave us some great information on the food. We ordered some recommended dishes and we wasn’t disappointed. The food was amazing and totally diffrent from your run of the mill indian restaurant. The portions were just right. We had red wine and bottled beer that was lovely. ( shame not draught ) but no problem. We carnt wait to return. We would recommend the Raj Minkey to anyone who appreciates a different curry experience. Great food good drink friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great atmosphere.

Finding ourselves in the area unexpectedly, we managed to get a last minute booking at Raja Monkey. A party of 4, two of us had been to the restaurant before and two were visiting for the first time. We chose to have a selection of starters or small plates to share between us rather than ordering main courses. Everything we had was delicious, representing really high-end Indian food but at a very reasonable price. The Harissa Chicken was so hot it blew our heads off! We really loved the prawns and the scallops in particular.

Hired the restaurant for a private birthday event recently and I had an amazing experience. Excellent food and service and overall I can't fault it. They were super accommodating to food allergens and took really good care of us. My personal favourites from the restaurant are monkfish moilee, aloo chaat, murgh makhani, and the keralan slaw. Worth visiting and highly recommended.

Lovely setting. Attentive and friendly staff. The food was not the normal curry house fare although you can still get a traditional curry. My partner had a traditional curry which he said was one of the best he'd eaten. I went for something less traditional ( paneer kofte) really good and highly recommended. I would highly recommend this restaurant

Visited Raja Monkey for the first time with my husband. We are both huge Indian food lovers and we both loved Raja Monkey. Beautiful interior, excellent customer service, delicious food with great recommendations from the staff. We couldn’t fault anything! Definitely will be coming back. The service was quick and the waiting staff at the location were friendly and very on the hall, they offered drinks before you finished and remembered your drinks orders so would simply say ‘same again’ which was such a good touch.

Lovely meal this evening with sister. Great service, tasty food, friendly staff. Hadn't been since it had moved from the previous space, next door. Will definitely be returning. Sister had salmon for starter - done perfectly, not over cooked, and I had the tandoori chicken which I enjoyed. Both had thalis - mine was with the butter chicken.

Fresh authentic Indian food of exceptionally high quality. Beautifully clean open kitchen which can be seen when you walk in the front door through a glass partition.Staff and service top notch. Pricing is very fair including wine and drinks, a must to visit

A gem in Hall Green. Excellent food and service.

Now been here twice. Both times the food and service was amazing. Sat in a booth and watched the food being cooked. When it arrived, what an experience. The samosas were great and came with a very tasty salad. As a main the smoked mutton is simply amazing and would strongly recommend this. Other dishes are equally as good. Service is very attentive with a smile. Now my favourite Indian. Only small downside is that the price of a small Cobra is £3.99, which is excessive given they’re bought from an off licence

We visited Raja Monkey for the first time yesterday for my partners Birthday. From start the finish the whole experience was excellent. The staff were welcoming, attentive but not intrusive. Our waiter was great fun and helpful with any questions regard the menu. The food was outstanding, by some way the best Indian food we have ever eaten. We will definitely be back and I can’t recommend highly enough! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A authentic Indian restaurant based on the Stratford road, hall green. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the location is fab. Street parking available outside, easily accessible VIA the bus. I recommend the classic curry, chicken madras paired with the chilli naan 😍👌🏼

Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to taste the most incredible local Indian cuisine. The staff can’t do more for you, helping you decide what food would be best and how spicy each dish is. We’ve been coming here for 3 years, we travel from Yorkshire for business and every year we can’t wait to come back. The food is super different from your typical Indian, with a lot of the dishes being family recipes or ‘local’ cuisine. Hats off to the chefs for their creations. Please give this incredible restaurant a visit, you’ll definitely want to return!! If I could eat here every week, I would!

Went with friends who live in the local area and knew about this place, it lived up to their description. We all had the thalidomide which was just the right amount. You got to choose the curry to go with the thalidomide which was a bonus and my mutton jalfrezi was delicious. Nice to have some bonus veg and salad too 😋

I’m updating my previous review after the introduction of the new menu. I have been visiting here for years and the the dining experience here never disappoints. Amazing food coupled with great service that can’t be matched with anything else in the area. On the most recent visit, we tried several dishes that were to us: samphire fries, scallops, dressed crab and malai tikka tigra . All of which were delicious and a great balance of different flavours. I’m excited to visit again soon and try some of the other new dishes.

Food was really rank. The Chicken Spinach had about two strands of spinach in it and tasted awful. The egg fried rice just tasted of coriander and nothing else. The Meat, in the Meat Dosa tasted overcooked and chewy. The Scallops were disgusting. Yuck.

It was an amazing Indian restaurant in Birmingham. After exploring the city, we visited here to have our dinner. The staff was very friendly and kind and all of our meals were very fantastic.

Customer service and atmosphere was brilliant. Feels like a fancy restaurant/bar at the same time. Highlighy recommend their murgh makhani! Alcoholic drinks galore but no mocktail options which is unfortunate. Would come again.
