6 friends arranged to meet here for a few drinks. One of our group had a baby girl who got upset. The owner came over and said “ I’m sorry but if you can’t calm her down I’m going to have to ask you to leave “. As a dad with kids a bit older now I know how this must of felt to the parents. Outrageous. He then went over to carry in his game of cards with a group of about 8. Basically don’t go to this pub if your not a local and 100% not a place for kids.

Have to say this place is a find. If you live in Rugeley you will already know how good the food is here. Family owned and run and what a Delightful and friendly environment. I live outside of Rugeley but will definitely be coming here again for some proper home cooked food and a couple of drinks. Top marks from me.

Boating down the Trent and Mersey canal I had no idea this pub even existed. It's not mentioned in the Pearson's guide. Nor is it visible from the canal. But fortunately the paint shop boys had been out and scrawled the word 'pub' and an arrow unceremoniously on Bridge 65. No real ale but they do have Guinness and everyone is very friendly.

Very good meal small portions are big enough for the average eater, large portion would be a struggle. We got cream potatoe, roast potatoe, fresh carrots, sprouts, garden peas, choice of meats, yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese and gravy. All piping hot and served with a smile to your table real value for money

Popped in one Sunday last year and have been back several times since. Its a small family run pub and they only do hot lunches on a Sunday. All the veg is fresh, and they do a cauliflower cheese to die for, which my husband loves. They do a choice of three meats, you order what you want and they bring it to the table. Staff are friendly and attentive and the food is second to none. As their reputation as grown so as the fight to get a table so i would advise booking in advance its well worth it. The pub itself is spotless and the toilets would give top hotels a run for their money with a selection of soaps and hand creams, the place is immaculate!

Went again for sunday dinner, six of us i asked the other five what they thought of the meal and they all said they could not fault it, if you are in Rugeley on a Sunday it is a must but i would advise you to book, choice of three meats with fresh veg plus cauliflower cheese, as a added bonus the footy will be on picture only.

The best place to go for Sunday lunch by far. All fresh veg, choice of 3 meats, yorkshire puds to die for... and real gravy!! No microwave rubbish. The price is good, usually more than I can eat, well worth a visit and I highly recommend.

Well what can i say, the food was fantastic all fresh vegetables, cooked to perfection, choice of 3 meats beef, gammon, and turkey. You have a choice of 2 meats which came on a big plate with roast and mashed potatoes, the fresh veg came in a tureen (cabbage carrots and peas) and coli-flower cheese in a separate dish the meat melted in your mouth (you did not need any teeth to chew it )and to top it off real gravy. The price is very good for what you get,and a choice of sweets. The beer was very good (john smiths) i was asked to try the worthy cream flow i said i cant stand it but i must admit it to was great, the service was good from start to finish, plus a added bonus they have the footy on quite so you don't have to miss that game, bet you cant wait to go and try it for yourselves,my advise book if its bank-holiday or mothers day.

Unfortunately I now work weekends so for me to have a Sunday off is quite rare; my partner works weekends and was off out after work so I was left with a choice of what to do. Everyone had said how the Mossley Tavern was good for Sunday Lunch so I thought I'd give it a go. I'd gone in the day before to enquire and had been told that booking was a sensible idea but because it was just me it wouldn't be a huge problem so I picked 1:30. I arrived and was greeted by the friendly staff and was given a table by the TV, it isn't a massive pub but was quite clean, and not so busy (at that moment) so I chilled with my Guinness and watched the F1. I was given a choice of Adult or Child portion (the former giving you a choice of two out of 3 meats) as well as cauliflower cheese as well as quite a large gravy boat (you can't have too much gravy!). I didn't wait too long but the food wasn't instant either so I'm more than certain the food was cooked properly rather than popped in a microwave like in Wetherspoons. The choices of meat were Beef, Turkey or Lamb. I chose Beef and wasn't disappointed. It was cooked well and along with Cauliflower Cheese, Roast Potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and Vegetables I was suitably full. Afterwards the waitress came and offered me a dessert which I didn't turn down. Syrup Sponge Pudding and Custard (see my photo) was also great All in all it came to £16.50 for the Lunch, 2 pints of Guiness and Dessert. I will definitely be visiting again when I next have a Sunday off and I advise you do too :)

by the roadside location and appearance of this pub, it doesn't have any airs and graces, or indeed the prices advertised on the sandwich board on the pavement. But, equally, don't be afraid to go inside. Unlike many such establishments the inside is clean and bright though in no way special, the toilets especially are a pleasant surprise, and the friendly faces at the bar and serving the food make for a nice change. And then you should order some food. Four of us were on a canal trip, the canal is immediately behind the Pub, and we were ready for Sunday Lunch. No choice, it wasn't necessary, the dish of the day was a carvery choice of two meats from three plus roast and boiled or mashed potatoes, four vegetables, Yorkshire Pudding, and gravy. Wow! What a surprise, this was possibly the best Sunday Lunch any of us have had this year. The meats were fall-apart tender, the roast potatoes cooked in dripping rather than the standard oil tasted delicious, all the vegetables nicely cooked and presented, the YP and gravy just perfect, and all served on to heated plates. These people know what they are doing! If we had one criticism it was that the price of £6.99 was much too low, this meal was well worth £10 or £12, but we recognise that most people would not expect the quality that these prices suggest. At £6.99 for the quality of meal delivered this pub should have queues at the door. And the beer is pretty good too! We thoroughly recommend boaters to plan canal trips to stop here for lunch. There aren't bollards or rings so pegs are required but there is ample bank for a number of boats on both sides of the bridge (65) (The Mossley Tavern)
