The Moss Trooper in Trafford

Arrived at 7:45 pm only to be refused to order food, website clearly says food served till 8 pm ! Chef refused to accept any more food orders the place was empty !!!

Having driven past many times, decided to try the food. The pub itself is large with plenty of seating options. Greeted on the way in and shown to our table. Recommended to try the Manchester craft ale which was excellent. Food was amazing, good selection and great value. Service was attentive and orders taken and food delivered quickly. Desserts had to be the delicious biscoff cheesecake with honeycomb ice cream. Highly recommended.

I had the best 60th Birthday party at the Moss Trooper. It was fantastic and very memorable. Staff were amazing, Buffet food was gorgeous. The band "The Camdens" were incredible, The landlady Leanne arranged everything and its was perfect. I would 100% recommend this place for your birthday celebration. You wont be disappointed.

We had a nice meal and drinks and the pub did really well to accommodate all 20 of us without any fuss. Well done.

Had a lovely lunch with friends. Good food (Caesar salad, chicken wraps), great atmosphere and excellent service from Izzie.

Quite disappointed with the Christmas lunch in the Moss Trooper for £78pp. Prawn starter was warm, I ordered beef and it was overcooked dry piece of steak, roast potatoes resembled boiled potatoes and the veg was consisted of 2 sprouts and a slice of carrot. I expressed my dissatisfaction and advised they had run out of beef so I accepted a turkey dinner. I was served what looked like a child’s portion as the amount on my plate was less than half the amount of the other diners I was with. :-( We all ordered a cheese board for dessert and all 5 of us received a different combination of cheese, looked like they had dressed the boards with what they had left.

Went there with family in Christmas day. Food was fantastic, and service excellent. Very well done Christmas decor. Would definitely come back!

Had a goats cheese crumpet which sounded wonderful. However, the crumpet was raw, not toasted or warmed in any way and so inedible. The cheese was lovely but no-one can ruin warmed goats cheese. The staff are lovely, however. Had a chicken and leek pie which was also almost inedible due to being heated through in a microwave, which made the pastry soggy and not nice.

Went with my dad on Saturday 30th Oct. Lovely food and very friendly staff. There was a children's Halloween party at the same time and we enjoyed listening to the jokes. He was a very good entertainer. Will visit again.

This pub has been cleverly designed inside so that its large interior is welcomingly and cosily divided up into attractive spaces around a central bar area. The menu for food has many of the pub fare staples but is clever enough ot go beyond that and offer a more interesting range. Service for such a large place was friendly, welcoming and not rushed. Staff were personable and knowledgable. The food was enjoyed by all int he party and rated highly. Well worth a visit fi you are in the area.

It's great to have a quality local that has a good selection of J.W. Lees beers plus many an alternative if beer isn't your thing. Same for the food which is always very tasty whatever your choice. There is also a good selection of either vegetarian or vegan options. Service is usually very quick depending on how busy it is. Dogs are very welcome, they even have treats for them at the bar. Comfortable and spacious surroundings allow you to relax and unwind and there is outside seating if you prefer especially good on those warm days or evenings.

Had a party here yesterday for our son. Really impressed with the service provided by the Moss Trooper. Very efficient. Allowed us in from 10am to add or own decorations to the room we had booked. Kept us fully informed on any developments through the day and were very m accommodating throughout the whole process, from my first enquiry 4 months ago. Would highly recommend for a private party.

After at least 18 months, I came here again with a group of friends for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. It has been quite a while since I last entered a pub but I needn't have worried as the service, table layouts, cleanliness and food were excellent.The only thing I have to say is that I would have liked a choice of sandwiches with salad or fries, hot or cold for the lunch menu.

We popped in for a pint on Friday - had to have the first one outside as pub was full! Staff very kindly found us a table inside afterwards though, and sevice was great - no waiting around for your next pint which is a bonus at the moment & a pet hate. Top Marks!

So Colin sang superbly for two and a half hours, and there was no entry charge.The staff worked tirelessly and happily throughout the evening providing a complete table service, and glasses were refilled as soon as they were emptied The food was excellent quality, and all four of our meals were cooked to perfection.This was a perfect meal , in a perfect place, and a perfect night.Thank you to the Manager and staff- you did an excellent job.

We went for an anniversary meal (18!) on a Monday afternoon in half term and couldn't have felt more taken care of, or safe in the current situation. Thank you so much to all of the staff we met;the meal was delicious, and atmosphere warm and welcoming. So looking forward to coming back.

First time in Altrincham. Had a lovely meal and drinks with friend. Covid regulations all followed. Lovely management and barman named Alex who was extremely attentive. Meal was lovely, had the Ciabatta and messy chips ! Lovely would definitely come again.

Always love Sunday lunch at the Moss Trooper, but this is the first time I've ventured in to eat since March 2020. Glad to say I felt very safe, track and trace is in place, social distancing achieved by the table layout, sanitiser freely available and the staff fully kitted out with PPE. The food as always was excellent! Well done to everyone for their efforts.

Friday family meal to catch up after being on holiday. No greeting on arrival, seated ourselves, service appalling food could have been better. Had to go to the bar to order desserts service was so bad. Will not return even though this used to be a local favourite.

Not been in here for a long time as I was disappointed last time but glad we gave it another chance. Had just walked out of The Gardeners Arms due to the horrendous noise from all the TV screens in the place and came in here again early evening.Walked round to the dining area and it looks lovely and welcoming. I inadvertently chose something that was apparently off the lunch menu, which finished at 3, but the getleman taking our order could not have been more helpful and we were served our choice.The food was delicious, service excellent and I am so glad we called in. We’ll definitely be back!

Not sure of date, but came here after the referb, well the staff were great and helpful, the food portions were huge, wish I didn’t order a huge starter, it was all delicious, called back a few days after it was that good

Rude member of staff that wouldn’t allow our small dog on my lap in case she licked the table..... When I informed him she was nowhere near the table he then said the hairs get on the seats. I said she doesn’t malt, he said customers don’t like them. Why be dog friendly then???Didn’t have these stupid rules before the refurb, was a great local dog friendly pub before they got to posh for pets... (Not 1 person around us disliked her, they all came over to cuddle her and say hi) The member of staff got a very bad attitude with us and was clearly looking for an argument to stamp his authority. Walked away then kept staring at us from behind the bar.How can a pub be dog friendly, if they enforce stupid rules for them such as not touching the seats, and being at floor level only??? Go The Gardner’s Arms at the other end of Ash Grove, if you have a dog as they don’t have stupid rules of where dogs can sit.... they actually have a doggie area with bowls and biscuits. If you want decent food go The Bridge Pub & Dining in Sale. Also JW Lees owned and is actually dog friendly, staff and owners are lovely and have won JWLees pub of the year. Con Club in Altrincham is another great place to take our dog, again no issues sitting on my lap in their either. Actually gutted this encounter occurred this evening, won’t visit here again!

Been several times lately and very happy with the food.Today I selected from the healthy , calorie controlled menu and had fitfrits and a lasagne. Very nice and enough to be satisfying without overloading my stomach.Post Xmas and birthday season for my family so it was nice for me to eat more healthily. Young man who served us was very helpful and pleasant .Going again on the 30th.I like the new decor too and of course very easy parking.

We had a lovely meal this evening. I had fillet steak, cooked exactly to my liking and my wife had scampi , which she thoroughly enjoyed. The wine is great reasonably priced. Well done all the staff at the Moss Trooper for making us so welcome.

Tracy and the team we’re very accommodating to my friends and I on our afternoon tea on several occasions. It tasted amazing with a range of sandwiches and variety of cakes and desserts, not to mention the prosecco. Will definitely be returning such an amazing friendly local. Couldn’t ask for more.

We have eaten at the Moss Trooper several times before but this was the first time since it has been refurbished. The new decor was nice. There were 8 of us booked in for lunch, the serving staff were lovely, our food was good and we did not have to wait long after ordering for it to arrive. The only small negative was there are still no indications on the desserts section of the menu as to what (if any) were suitable for vegetarians (or vegans). I did ask one waitress but she didn’t seem sure & I didn’t want to cause a fuss by asking someone else so in the end I decided not to have one. A note on the menu to confirm all are vegetarian, or an indication (like on the mains and starters) which ones are would be great. I do like a dessert so did feel like I missed out.

Full disclosure. I am a local and have been going to the Moss Trooper on and off for over 10 year. Recently it has has a makeover. The service has always okay and the staff are friendly. However the food is not great. Fairly standard pub grub. However the quality is cheap and when we went last Saturday it was mostly cold. Its okay for a drink but do not eat there.

Ruoka oli hyvää ja annokset riittävän isoja. Tarjoilu oli ystävällistä ja mutkatonta.

Frequented on a Wednesday evening to meet up with old friends that were over from Australia. Table was booked for 15 and most arrived for food. Only had a main course each but there were no complaints. Priced reasonably and the staff were very friendly and attentive.

Haven’t visited The Moss for a few years now although was my local at one point. They’ve recently done it up and have a done a really good job. Great selection of beers and we stayed for a bite to eat. I wasn’t expecting much but it was actually really nice. Couldn’t fault the service or price.

My partner and I went to the Moss Trooper early evening on Saturday. It was not particularly busy and impressed with the new decor and pleasant and helpful young bar staff we decided to stay for something to eat. A waiter came to take our order which was a welcome surprise as we expected to order at the bar. Now, I admit to being slightly fussy being a non meat eater (not vegetarian though) and I expect to have a limited choice on any menu. However NONE of my choices were available (scampi, cheese and onion pie and veggie curry) and the waiter said they had run out on Friday. He was very apologetic although clearly it wasn't his fault and we left to go to the King George where we were served delicious food quickly and pleasantly at approximately £3 per head cheaper than the equivalent dish would have been at the Moss Trooper. Even more importantly they had ordered sufficient supplies to last the weekend!

We visited the Moss Trooper for the first time since it has been refurbished. It was a pleasant space before, and continues to be so. My usual complaint about this (and other bars in the area) is that you can only enjoy the outdoor areas if you are either a smoker or are prepared to be surrounded by smoke. Non-smoking customers aren’t valued enough to provide them with space to eat or drink outside. But on a cooler October evening, we were more than happy to head indoors for dinner with friends. They had made a booking for us, but the staff didn’t seem to know anything about it; fortunately there were a couple of tables that we could choose between. The menu is as expected at a Lees pub, reliable, predictable and good value. I chose the salad with chicken option which was healthy and fresh. Two of our party chose the lamb Henry which they really enjoyed. The vegetarian choices were also pleasing. It was wine Wednesday so as we had ordered several glasses of wine, we found ourselves presented with the rest of the two bottles we had ordered from (buy two glasses, get the rest of the bottle free).

Great night on a Thursday as always with the Dazzler. Great quiz, super friendly surroundings. See you next week.

We have been coming to the Moss Trooper since we moved to Timperley. I was keen to try as they have recently had a refurbishment. To put it simply, it’s lovely. The decor is modern and tastefully done, service was excellent and food was of a great quality. They have a good Sunday lunch menu, and catered well for my two little ones.

We ate at The Moss Trooper last night and for the first time. It was clearly apparent upon arrival that booking a table is necessary, it was so busy. The staff were very attentive on arrival and showed us to our table. The menu offers a superb selection of pub classics but also some not so familiar dishes. I opted for baked smoked haddock on a bed of creamy mash with spinach, soft boiled egg and cheesy sauce. Hubby went for the traditional fish and chips. Table service is a great addition and the waiting staff were exceptionally friendly. Whilst waiting for our food it gave me a perfect opportunity to take in the newly renovated area. It really is beautiful, a good mixture of light and dark walls, various textures and beautiful decor, the ambience is just perfect... our food arrived and it was perfectly presented. Great tastes and good portions, staff continued to be attentive and replenished our drinks at the table. Dessert choices were just as good and they were delicious too. The prices are proportionate and represent good value certainly for what we ate. The only thing I did notice from a constructive perspective is that the vegan options were limited. There were two options on the main menu but I couldn't see any vegan options in the starter or dessert section. I always look at this because my daughter and son in law are vegans so perhaps if we were eating out with them Moss Trooper wouldn't be my first choice. Lots of vegetarian options but not suitable for vegans. Having said that we will be using the venue as our regular weekly pub now as it is also great for drinks only too, all in all a gem of a place in the local community, friendly staff and great food

Came here just over a week ago and I ordered the Minted Lamb and it was so so good! I managed to catch the chef to compliment how amazing our meal was! It was a chef with tattoos all over his arms, didn't quite catch his name but he was really polite and lovely to us, he definitely did your food justice, it was spot on! Loved it! :)

Ordered Crispy Crackling with Apple compote Pork Belly which sounded delicious. However what arrived was a fatty piece of meat covered in gravy (which would of wet any crackling even if crispy). To my astonishment no Apple compote either but few tinned pears thrown on. My partner had Fish & chips safe enough but many of the chips were black. No care went into these. Despite giving feedback to chef twice no compensation made. No care for customer satisfaction. I noticed another table ordered same Pork dish and left most of it also. My partner also was recommended a glass of 'house red' which was undrinkable and tasted like a glass of 'bottle ends'. Staff behind bar tasted it when returned and agreed it was 'disgusting' but at least rectified this. I've attached a picture of a crispy pork belly dinner I ordered elsewhere (not a fine dining restaurant) for comparison. Disappointing dinner at The Moss Trooper. Chef needs to learn to cook, have pride in their work, and understand customer satisfaction.

Stopped after a long day at work for a quick tea/ dinner. It was alright. Had a chicken burger that was pretty average. And a gluten free chicken basket, this was disappointing as it was just half a small chicken and a handful of chips. Assuming th coleslaw and bbq sauce has wheat in.... why would you not add a side salad or a garnish? For £11.75 it was massively overpriced and very tasteless.

Got treated by the kids to a Sunday roast at the moss trooper on father’s day... fab, all dads got a JWLEES pint glass and voucher for a free pint! Nice touch ! Food was great and ales?! What a selection ! I think I managed 3 out of at least 5 on offer! Grandkids got colours for their colour in menus and free ice cream so everyone left very very happy! Keep it up guys

Experience was dreadful. Meal was appalling. Has deteriorated massively prior to the latest makeover which involved the removal of two beautiful wood effect fires and the lighting. Service was indifferent, in some cases rude to the point of being surly.

Drank and ordered one of the sharing platters which was tasted pretty good whereas my friend’s baguette (£11 roughly) looked like something you can get at some cheap sandwich shop for £2.50! Both pints of lagers purchased had a slight taste of metal, perhaps an indicator that they needed to clean the beer lines.

This place is now known as The George Four of us thought we would give it a try, dont bother we ordered Four dinners 2 Lamb/ 1 Beef and 1 chicken they appeared within 5 minutes luke warm food must have been stood for at least 2 hours undercooked veg and undercooked very rough meat at the cost of £8.95 each it was Tastless as well, no wonder the place was empty, Wont be returning again,

A good socialable pub but the food is dry, tasteless and poor quality, typical chain pub ding and deep fried rubbish.

We came here again for our Valentine's meal. We come here all the time and never had a bad meal. The staff are great especially Mario and Sam serving us. Mario is brilliant. Thanks for making the night so special. Thanks Rob & Louise.

This is my local and has been for a good few years now. The staff are amazing and always willing to go the extra mile. I do eat in there occasionally and the food has always been top notch and served with a smile. I don't get some of the more negative comments on here as I'm in there quite a lot and have never seen or experienced any unhappiness with service or quality. This is a well run, friendly pub and I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend it to anyone!

Where do I start. I visited the moss on a solo affair for a few cheeky beverages and maybe even a bite to eat...what an experience. On first appearance, it may seem like any other pub, but I assure you, “the troop” does not disappoint. Perfectly folded napkins, eye candy waiters and might I add, the softest toilet paper my derrier has ever encountered! I will most definitely be retuning with Karen and the kids (if I can keep my hands of the chap behind the bar). Absolutely cracking establishment.

Since my last review I have avoided until this visit. It’s quite local and the friends we met insisted we give it another chance.

As a regular in the Moss Trooper, I have to say its been very disappointing over the past months. Tracy the manager seems to be drinking a lot either on shift or sat in the pub, once shes drunk she will end up causing a problem with a member of staff or a customer shes not fussy just recently, I've witnessed this behaviour on a couple of occasions myself both times Tracy was drinking with Amy ( X assistant manager ) Example: Tracy was shouting and screaming across the pub and over the bar being aggressive and abusive towards Kendal ( assistant manager ) in front of a pub full of customers an called her a skank, then after her disgraceful behaviour, Tracy then started with a married couple who are regulars telling them to get out because she didn't want them in there all because Amy had been having affair with her husband. Tracy's attitude as a manager is appalling towards customers and staff don't really know how the pub has been running to be fair probably good staff not that there seems to be many of them anymore because she can be a bully to. Quite a few of the regulars have been talking about finding somewhere else to go as you never know what to expect when you go in recently. Some regulars haven't being going in as much or just been having a couple where normally they would have stayed longer. It's just a shame that one person can cause such atmosphere. Think somebody higher up than Chris Reece should go and have a look for them self because rumour is, she can and will do as she pleases because shes having an affair with Chris Reece which some customers are aware of like me. ( Tracy has very loose lips when drinking ) As a customer I can see this pub going down hill and think if thing don't change i will have no choice but to go elsewhere.

So I called in with my fiance for food and a few drinks and I'm so glad I chose the moss trooper! I was instantaneously welcomed by staff and was seated by a young lad who was helpful throughout the night. We had the halloumi fries and chicken and food was cooked to perfection. I had the pleasure of meeting the manageress who was a delight to talk to and I can see why the staff take pride in their work. Will be back with friends

Visited the pub for a family meal (party of 11) on New Years Day. We received excellent service from the staff especially Rick for whom nothing was too much trouble.

I have visited this pub for both drinks and meals on many occasions in both small and large groups. My latest visit was for a family meal with 13 others during the Christmas festivities and unfortunately it will be my last. The food was okay; however, I have had better meals there. The service was not the best, the young manageress with dark hair who served us did not once crack a smile and I felt was very abrupt and unfriendly when taking orders and bringing things to the table.

Sat here 45 minutes after trying to pay, still waiting for the card machine to work. Chased a few times; told we will be updated. We've had to check back for any update but nothing has progressed. This follows very insincere service for the starters and mains, and the ovens seemingly being turned off before desserts were served (but after they were ordered). No good will gesture.

Visited this pub with 13 other people for a family Christmas get together. The food was okay and the prices weren’t outrages for that kind of area.

Went for our Christmas meal with a large group and, frankly, wasn't expecting much. However, the food was excellent. The starter was good, the beef and horseradish mash was excellent, with loads of vegetables and a lovely Yorkshire pudding. The food was delicious, hot and plentiful, possibly there was a bit too much on the plate, but I don't have a large appetite and left quite a bit. The price for a 3 course meal was excellent for the standard of the food. I hadn't been for a while, but can definitely recommend this for good pub grub.

This place does the best homemade cheese and onion pie. We always sub the cheese and chive sauce for veggie gravy and it's always been prepared for us without a problem. I would say bring on some more veggie and vegan options on the menu or just offer jacket potatoes throughout the day. The place has a nice atmosphere although it can sometimes get a bit nippy in there. Overall, worth the visit just for the pie!

A pint 🍺 of Carlsberg and a Glass of wine 🍷 £10.45 No wonder this place is empty on a Saturday night inside quite nice but cannot justly these prices so vote with your feet.

Visited for a wake to say farewell to dear relative. The location was just right for the occasion, the atmosphere was great the food provided was just right. There was also a good selections beers and very helpful staff

We went to the Moss Trooper for a meal tonight as it is our local pub and we’ve had some really good value meals there in the past.

This is an honest review which I posted was taken down once. So I’m putting it back so people know what I saw.

Recent family meal; great welcome and prompt service for drinks. waiting staff wearing cheap yellow t- shirts; not a fan looked like staff from a holiday camp.

Lovely lunch , tailor made to our requirements / mood.

We were here two months ago and for pub grub this place did well BUT to say it has gone down is an understatement. The food was hideous. You could tell it was (mostly) the same ingredients but such lazy cooking! The cheesy garlic bread was anaemic and when asked if it could be cooked more it was put back on the grill ON ONE SIDE so came back burnt along one edge. Poor form. Not to mention the raw oven chips under the flavoursome pulled pork.

We popped in for a drink and then decided to stay and eat. I wish we hadn’t.

A Large party of us over 30 having a special celebration ate in the back room food was fantastic service excellent nothing was to much trouble for the lovely staff well done to Tracy and her team. Will definitely be returning

Popped in for tea on the way to the airport as we no longer live in the area. The food was very good and well worth the money. The Salmon was fab! Cracking range of real ales Inc a Manchester craft lager. A great mix with dining in 1 half and a smaller section showing the world cup.

Such a lovely place to visit especially if its a nice day as there is seating available outside. Food arrived in good time and was well presented and hot.

This must be one of the friendliest places I’ve been to. Mario, who was our waiter, first greeted us when we walked in and sat us in a lovely booth, and continued to provide great service throughout our whole visit. The food was amazing and a great selection of drinks to choose from. The award-winning triple cheese pie, the steak pie and fish dishes were absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. I will certainly return to this establishment.

This is our local and we tend to nip in for drinks and tea now and then. We even hosted a party there once. The staff behind the bar are so rude. I have never met people that are so sour faced and rude. There is a lady with long dark hair and a guy with a beard. They honestly need more training on working with people. Im surprised the management haven't approached this yet. They will 100% be loosing custom if they continue to work with the disgusting attitudes they have at the moment. I will 100% be contact the management there.

Visited on a Sunday lunchtime but ate off the normal menu. I did book in advance in case it was busy but it was very quiet. Great welcome. Good choice on the menu and all the food was lovely and well cooked. Great customer service in the eating area. The only very small thing that let it down was poor customer service as we paid the bill. We were a bit of an inconvenience.

Just been to the Moss Trooper this evening for a Tuesday evening birthday tea with my teenage son. Sat outside - Food ok - sun still shining but the evening spoilt by a very ignorant person behind the bar. Did the bearded one think he was too good to serve me? Does he only like to attend to young people? Has he been poorly trained in customer service? I don't know. I do know however that his off handed and rude and dismissive manner really did spoil my evening.This guy has an attitude problem and if I was his manager I would be pushing him to develop a much more personable approach.

Another great Sunday meal at the Trooper. The staff are great and very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere was very relaxing as usual. The roasts are very tasty and reasonably priced and to be recommended.

8 of the family met and had i fantastic lunch the service was very good not rushed the large steak and kidney pudding was great the hot sarnies was enjoyed by others in the family would call in again

We took our 2 young grandchildren for lunch & were disappointed not to find a childrens menu. Our food was really nice but all we could find for the children (aged 3 & 1) were fries as a side order. We wondered if maybe children...

I visited this pub tonight Saturday 16 th December and it will be my last time. The staff were very rude and in no way made you welcome. There were dogs in the bar area where food was being served and people being served alcohol...

Have got to write and say what a lovely meal we had and can recommend the sausage and mash with onion gravy, for dessert I had the meringue filled with red fruits and ice cream and it was amazing

We eat here a fairly regular basis mainly because the Sunday lunches are excellent value. The roast potatoes are usually delicious and the portions are a good size. There is a great selection of starters and desserts. The staff are always attentive and very friendly. Highly recommended.

Late Sunday lunch for group of 6. All the meals were very good. Service quick, friendly and polite. Good value for money.

I was stunned to read some of the reviews of this pub/restaurant after my visit there last Saturday. Some of the other reviews complaining about poor value and poor service sound as though they are referring to a completely different place to the one I visited.The lunch we had here was top quality in every way. The food was superb, the atmosphere was good (if a little quiet but that suited us), the staff were delightful and we got superb value for money. Being a pub I expected a standard pub grub experience but the restaurant section at the back of the pub is away from the busy drinking area and is very comfortable. The menu here is varied and very interesting and caters well for carnivores and vegetarians alike. There were 7 of us in our party, we had 5 different dishes and they were all delicious, well presented, excellent quality food and very filling. Then the bill was less than £100 including drinks which we thought was outstanding value. I would happily eat here again and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting to eat out in Timperley.

Went for Saturday tea with two children. I had the lamb burger with salad which was OK. We also had a scampi and chips and the chips were underdone and the scampi was a small portion for the price. The worts was the two children's meals - popcorn chicken and chips = one small pot of tiny chicken paste filled balls and one pot of thin chips. Might have at least expected some veg. Poor value overall.

Bar Service and Staff very nice but the food

Sometimes it serves nice food , sometimes it does not every visit (3 months apart ) is always a different experience.

Upon arrival we all entered an purchased a beverage. This is when it went downhill. Firstly the bartender was very blunt and not hospitable. Once sat down in the sun outside we were forced to remove our clothes as we had smart sixth form attire on, which apparently gave them a bad reputation. Locals are given superior rights despite us contributing atleast over £1000 in total. In conclusion this pub is like swimming in a pool of mediocrity with a depth restriction, therefore would not recommend.

Dropped in for an evening meal. Four of us plus a 4 month old in pram . Very helpful, friendly, staff found us a quiet table. Two of us had the lamb, pink, which was so tasty and tender. Our other choices, burger and scampi also great value. Enjoyed the beer too. Thank you MT staff. We'll be back :-)

Ordered cheese pie and jacket potato with mushy peas and what I received was a tiny slice of cheese flan, microwaved jacket and a spoonful of mushy peas. Not what I was expecting was most disappointed.

Girls lunch date - very very disappointed! Last few visits have been good. Service was good although wait for food was too long considering place was virtually empty but bar staff helpful! Food awful - Chicken and Bacon BLT - !!! Very sparse amount of chicken and bacon and what there was was dry and tasteless !!! Will leave it for a while before visiting again -

A great Sunday Lunch, 2 of us had the roast pork and 1 the roast beef. Food was beautifully presented, the meat very tender and loads of vegetables followed by wicked puds! The service was excellent and staff very friendly. The restaurant was a bit quiet bt we were very early as we had to be somewhere later but filling up as we were leaving.

Had a hamburger and a steak, both dishes were tasty, pleasant staff,nice ambience. Toilets seemed to be clean but stinking as hell!

My family booked (in advance) a meal for 9 of us last Sunday. A special family occasion to with our father. After an hour and a half we had still not received our main courses and when we asked why it was taking so long we were told "we weren't expecting it to be this busy". (now I know why BTW!) No apologies, no other explanations and as I mentioned, its not like we "sprung" this booking on them. When the food did arrive, the lack of any care was also apparent (a pot of dry coleslaw instead of tartare sauce with the fish dishes for example) In hospitality, things go wrong for a variety of reasons, some can be foreseen, others not so. The true judge of a hospitality provider is in how they deal with things when they do get it wrong. And in this regard, the Moss Trooper fails on epic proportions. Very poor staff service with an astounding lack of courtesy and I can only surmise that this is a result of poor management.

A party of 8 of us visited the Moss Trooper for a meal and drinks. I can honestly say it was one of the most chilled out nights I've had in a long time. The pub wasn't too busy and the atmosphere was so relaxed - ideal for a good catch up with friends. We all had a meal and a pudding and at least 2 drinks each, the bill came to just under £150! The food was absolutely delicious and was served really quickly. The staff were a delight, putting up with all our giggling and were so chilled out about us taking ages to decide on food! Drinks were also well priced. I had the steak and kidney pudding (pictured) which I highly recommend and a friend of mine had the garlic chicken with the messy chips which looked incredible! Will 100% be returning!

Visited with the family - large booking with children. Service excellent . Nothing too much trouble with the children. Good menus all round. Efficient service good quality and price for the early evening visit. Good choice , hot food. What more could we ask. Thanks to the team of workers.

New Years Eve meal. We had home-made lasagne and the 10oz sirloin steak cooked to perfection as usual all washed down with a bottle of Rioja. I think maybe ice cream sundae to finish , although full already as good- sized portions! Love it. Fab food and very good service from all the staff. Thank-you to all and a Happy New Year to y'all

Visited earlier this month, with my daughter -both of us ordering Sunday roast beef.The beef was the toughest most rubbery meat I have ever eaten !I'm fairly sure it was Beef -just uncertain how it was 'cooked'!We would have sent it back, but being hungry and having waited a fair while for it to arrive, we ate the other food on the plate...The ( polite ) waitress looked embarrassed , but didn't offer anything more than a 'sorry'.Otherwise ok...but wouldn't return again..

Friday evening with my wife, for a quick and somewhat inexpensive meal. Must say that we weren't disappointed - the food was okay (in fact I would describe it as slightly more than okay), the service was fine for a pub, but the ale was first class.

This pub seems to fall between two stools. It's not sure if it is a pub which serves food or a restaurant which allows people to go in for a drink. Unfortunately the prices reflect the latter.The prices are quite expensive for the type of standard pub food it serves. The food is generally good, and the service is excellent, so if you don't mind paying a little over the odds, you will enjoy the experience.

Amazing Sunday roast, brilliant service, great atmosphere. Would highly recommend. I was visiting friends for their little boys 1st birthday. They had organised a buffet for friends and family to get together on the Saturday afternoon which was brilliant. Then we went back for a roast on the Sunday. Very impressed.
