Called in on a lunch break, have to say this was honestly the worst fish I have ever had from a chippy, tiny piece of fish and was not at all nice.

Fantastic chippy! Friendly owners and staff who make everyone feel welcome. Exceptional food cooked to order so it is fresh and hot when you get home. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Only an occasional visitor. Service prompt. Food quality is excellent, especially the fish. Prices are good. Have a good selection of alternatives to fish and chips. Certainly recommend.

Fabulous fish and chips. Chunky white fish cooked to perfection with a light batter. Gorgeous freshly cooked chips. Spicy curry sauce and fab mushy peas. Definitely recommend this takeaway!!!!

So much more than a chip shop! Fabulous array of food, including traditional fish and chips but also a wide range of other take away dishes. Staff are lovely too. Food was piping hot, freshly cooked and not greasy. Excellent addition to Sale for take away food.

The food is cooked to order so it is always fresh - that means you will have a short wait. As a regular customer I would recommend.

Horrible chips cold hard and I'm sure they were last nights chips , pudding and meat and potato pie was luke warm . Even the pudding was dry no gravy run out when cut into . Waste of money

Great value fish and chips. Ordered over telephone and picked up 15 mins later. Large chips was really large portion. Fish very white and batter nice. Only £6.50 for fish and £3.70 for large chips. Staff friendly. Will definitely use this take away service again.

Popped in from out of the area. Ordered the salt and Pepper gyro. Gent was lovely and very chatty. Very good customer service and the gyro was delicious and well priced. Highly reccomend this chippy. Service was top notch and so was the food. Ps the item we purchased (reason for in the area) was spot on 👌

My daughter went in yesterday to purchase a chip barm, large sausage and a small portion of chips (as they didn't do cones on asking). £2.40 change from £10??!! The chips weren't very nice at all and a complete rip off at that price. Definitely won't be going back.

Steak sandwich- toasted barm, steak, cheese, mushrooms, onions, peppers. Delicious. Staff- really friendly. Top marks on everything

Went to the store today around 16:30 & ordered fish and chips. They said it would be 5 mins. I was on a call so waited outside- was the only customer in the shop. They had asked me if I want salt and vinegar and I said plenty. After a while the called out my order- trusted them to deliver so did not look when I got home - the cod was freshly done but the chips were barely hot and appeared re- heated . I called the store to complain- the lady who Answered the phone argued with me and basically said I was lying. Instead of listening to me and apologist about my poor experience they argued with me then started discussing me with her colleagues in store while I was on the phone and then hang up. When I called back they did not answer. Beginning to wonder if the reviews about this chippy are genuine or are they just racist 🤔

I loved this place! Excellent fish and chips, mushy peas, and a curry sauce to die for. There were three different choices of curry sauce and I was allowed to try before ordering. I loved chatting to the owners, who were so friendly. They have not been in charge for long and deserve every success in my humble opinion.

I cannot believe that they have any regular customers because they are closed nearly as often as they are open. On numerous occasions I have gone to the shop only to find them shut with a letter of apology stuck to the outside. They never stagger staff holidays, they just walk away and hope that we will come back. This has been once too often and they have lost my family and I as regular customers forever.

Don't mind paying for food buy when you get charged £3 for a chip muffin you expect some chips with the muffin absolutely disgusting see they have a cost of living sheet on the counter get rid of the trays and give a chip muffin ghe muffins are on the small size too

Not sure atmosphere is a needed category for a chippy! Food is good though, flaky fish and crispy/fluffy chips. Only issue is that its cash only, which they didn't tell me til after I had ordered so then had to run for a cash machine.

£3 for in reality a small portion of chips. £5.60 for a cod, that was overcooked again. Parents happy with their’s though, and the Irish curry sauce is excellent.

We just went in to order food for 4 of us and we didn’t get chips we paid for to come with a meat and potato pie for one of our orders and also with the childrens meal we ordered they didn’t put a small drink in the bag with the kids meal as stated on the menu. Not the greatest of service if I’m being honest when you’ve paid for something you expect it to be in the bag. Also the ones of us what manage to get our chips we didn’t end up eating em. Something not right there.

Absolutely appalling sooooo disappointed fish was good but the chips disgusting I don’t know whether they were old reheated ones or they were dry over cooked oven chips!!! Never again!

Tiny portion of chips for a high price, stale sausages and cold pies, not happy, it says in the place they make good quality food at fast pace, however took over 20 minutes for a portion of chips, sausage and pie! I’m not one to complain but for the price this was ridiculous!

Visited 10 minutes before closing, but got exceptional quality fish, chips & peas!!! All beautifully cooked - top quality - will call again soon! Also friendly staff give service with a smile!!!

A good old fashioned chippy with no kebabs, pizzas etc. All freshly cooked so may be a wait, if you phone order through that will save time when you call to collect.

Great food, Great choice great service, friendly staff, Covid secure, 5* hygiene rating. All good. One improvement would be to post the whole menu on the internet, not just the fish offering.

The batter on our fish was so thick it was hard on the outside but mushy on the in side awful. Also didn’t get the peas. I checked with them that I have everything including peas yes she said so paid for something I have not received. Will not return.

Never leave a bad review but I feel this chippy calls for one . Burnt chips , really small portions for really high prices . Stingy . Very slow service . Just all round a bad chippy . The chippy was empty and I still had to wait 15 mins . It would of been okay if it was worth the wait but it certainly wasn’t

The food was excellent. My only complaint is that after I ordered I was asked to wait outside which I duly did. Then 3 workmen followed me in, placed their order and remained inside while they waited. Nothing said to them by any of the staff yet I was told to wait outside for my order. Slightly miffed by this to say the least!! Rules for safe distancing should apply to all.

I love this chipshop. You may have to wait but the food is freshly cooked for you and the staff are very pleasant even though they have to put up with alot of abuse. They are a busy chipshop due to the quality of the food and also take telephone orders so you may have to wait. The shop is spotlessly clean.

Wanted lightly battered fish. Batter so thick coulnt eat it makes me ill. A shame love this chippy.

Just went for a fish supper for myself and my mother. Superb quality, shop is clean and staff were lovely. Cash only, though, but there is a cashpoint on the parade of shops. Recommended!

So bad, how, just how are they still trading? Ordered a large portion of chips to take home, really well cooked, tasted burnt, thrown A few years ago, bad experience, though, well they can't do wrong with chips, proven wrong, they can Would I go again...........NOPE

The chips and fish were all rather soggy with too much oil left on them so the predominant flavour, which lingered long after, was of chip oil. Not nice.

Excellent food. Im a carer so eat on the go. Even go for my elderly clients, delicious, light batter. Found this fish & chip shop on my round. Don't go anywhere else. Good menu. Good service. Food always excellent. Every time. Can also ring for my order .

Always fresh and excellent quality. I really like their popular smaller portion of fish and chips as a "normal" portion these days are just feeding our obesity problem (And I'm almost 6' tall), unless you are going to share of course :-) SADLY I've had to stop going as it's cash only and I never carry cash. I'm not prepared to draw out just for takeaway :-(

Very poor, went at lunchtime 1pm, very small portion for a regular portion of chips, the chips were hard and too crispy and were obviously warm ups from the previous nights fry up. Over half of the chips had black bits in them which I could not eat, these should have been removed after peeling and before frying. Laziness' I will most certainly going to this Fish and Chip shop again

1st time visiting this chip shop, never again, my husband ordered fish and chips and I had a small portion of fish and chips. I couldn’t believe it when I unwrapped my meal, the fish was just a small portion of batter, over cooked, inside was a tiny live of dried fish. Worse fish I have ever had. On reflection we should have returned the meals but didn’t want to go back.

Been here a few times and food has been great,really impressed until tonight. Bought a large portion of chips they were no bigger than an ordinary portion and the chips were absolutely horrible all burnt and dry looking. Straight In the bin.

Poor portion size chips at £3 for a large. We have tried this place again since our chip review and again the poor quality food for the large price tag is simply not acceptable

We had fish and chips and a couple patato scollops, they were delicious !! Service was good, I had previously ordered the meal , it was just about ready when I arrived.Staff were pleasant. No problems. I don't understand some of the poor reviews, I go there quite often and have never been let down.

A chippy isn't fast food if it's freshly cooked so there's always a wait because the food is cooked to order. I love the fact I can enjoy maintaining a healthy weight by having the option of small portion fish and chips roughly 600 calories instead of a greedy overweight inducing 1200 calories of a typical unhealthy portion. I also like that they don't use polystyrene packaging but but card boxes. Excellent chip shop for the discerning.

This is first time I have been in this fish & chip shop, and it certainly wont be the last! The fish & chips were absolutely divine, exceptionally clean and very welcoming staff. I will certainly be recommending The Lighthouse Fish bar as the best chippy in Sale.

The slowest staff ever, food ok though

Cash only during the pandemic is not really acceptable. Businesses shouldn’t be insisting people exchange cash and add risk. I went to Gold Lion next door and they accepted contactless payment and had great chips, sausage and curry.
