I travelled all the way from Birmingham to try The Mosque Kitchen, and it was absolutely worth it. The lamb curry and rice were simply delicious. It was full of rich flavours and cooked to perfection (just like Maa's cooking). The portion sizes were generous, making it excellent value for money. I also tried the chicken burger and fries, which were fresh and tasty. Beyond the amazing food, the environment was relaxed and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere had a warm, inviting feel. If you're in Edinburgh and looking for authentic, flavourful food in a great setting, I highly recommend The Mosque Kitchen. I’ll definitely be coming back. Thank you for a fantastic meal. 😊

It looks a bit like a canteen but the spartan room is compensated by the excellent, well-prepared and abundant dishes.

The high chairs were so disgusting, sticky and full of old food that we walked out before we had sat down. I tried to use my own antibacterial wipes to clean the chair but it was just horrendous. The staff were not welcoming as had always been the case here. I absolutely will not be going back.

I wanted to love this place, and had been looking forward to visiting for some time after reading reviews, but sadly the flavours weren't developed enough. Huge portions, cheap prices, and very relaxed atmosphere, but its all about the taste!

Food was amazing, the family are so welcoming and oozes a community feel. Just relaxed, friendly environment and the food is served straight away so great when your hungry. Portion size is amazing and definitely worth the money. We ordered a "small" kids portion and there was enough to take home for dinner later. We will certainly be back again.

Kushis held a spot in my psyche for years. I've only managed to get here 3 times over a decade but my new ears resolution is to take more mosque kitchen breaks. Value for money,tasty as f and a great asset to the whole community of Edinburgh. Wish there was one in Alloa/ Stirling

Very good self-service style restaurant! We loved our dishes (especially the biryani)

Worst place we ever had food. Food was dry and also tasted bad. Food tasted old. We wasted our time and money both! The doner kebab was dry you can see it yourself in pictures! 😑

You can easily get two servings of good quality curry and rice for under £10. It will be heavier on the rice side though

This resturant was fairly average, with a buffet service, I thought chicken biryani was expensive at £12.99, we had extra lamb curry bill was £29. Staff service wasn't great very slow.

This place has to have the WORST curry I have ever tasted , ordered chicke tikka Masala with rice and chicken curry with rice , both were horrendous .. raw chicken, disgusting boiled rice which tasted salty and it was all soggy . Inedible and left basically all of it. The shop itself was dirty, the area behind where you’re given curry and a plate looked filthy , boxed stacked everywhere , dirty radiator , dust.. Also got Food poisoning. I don’t know how this place has achieved its 4.1 star rating, it must be family members or something that have been told to rate highly.. or people have been paid off. Genuinely terrible , avoid at all costs.

The five stars is just because it's very affordable and filling for the quantity and quality of food simultaneously. I ate once and I was full for 12hrs. The naan is made out of wheat so it doesn't taste as authentic and the £2 charge to it is not justified because you can get way better elsewhere But it's a good option for students and it's more of a memory based place for students than a restaurant

This is not the original mosque kitchen. The food here is poor quality and too expensive for what you get. Don't bother eating here and go elsewhere if you want better quality food.

Not really the best experience, and for the prices there's way better options. Food is average at best. The servers also try to overcharge you so be wary.

Good place for authentic Indian pakistani food. Prices are very reasonable and portions are generous. Service staff is also really nice to customers. Recommended for eat in or take away.

Had the Worst biriyani in my life there. It doesn’t even deserve one star for that. They just mixed a bland chicken curry with white rice that’s it. Stuff and atmosphere was good but food is way toooo bad

Tasty and delicious food. Must try once

Customer service is not good at all if your looking what to order staff will think it's funny and start making funny faces towards you mocking the customers, I don't think what they found funny in that can't tell anything about food but staff itself on the counter is really bad and rude, was visiting from England to Scotland wanted some desi food but turned away can't be spending money where you ain't respected properly please work on your customer service and train your staff how to treat customers respectfully.

Sorry but not that cheap, cold food, and didn't really taste that nice. The food is sat in trays for sometime. Not sure how cheap, as previous day we were in a restaurant and spent the same amount. Also we intended to go the mosque kitchen. There are two. One is called the original mosque kitchen. Not sure if either supports the mosque. But the original one is within the mosque car park. Desi tea was nice.

Used to come here when studying in Edinburgh. After all these years, it still tastes amazing! Not just the food, but brings a lot of memories.

Service and behaviour 0 . There food quality was 6 out of 10. As a Muslim we always looking for halal restaurants. We all was very excited when we found this restaurant. But there behaviour specially 2 girls * was very rude they use there language for mocking us also others people for taking time for place the order .they have no idea that we know there language very well . We understand everything that they said . One of staff infront of us continously kick all chair's for moving. Even they kind of like gave order us to place the leftover dish. No please or No thankyou. We all feel like we spending our money and time for face those types of behaviour.

Such a convenient spot for affordable and delicious Pakistani/Indian food being budget-friendly with generous portions as you fancy fresh South Eastern Cuisine in the heart of the City. Its buffet style serving is perfect for a quick or casual dining to sit in wherever you like vibe with a lovely home made Pakistani tea to top it off.

Donner and fries was a proper let down also the flafal tasted so dry.

The best Lamb curry you can ever have in Edinburgh without hurting you taste buds with the spices and flavour it had and how tender the lamb be with savoury basmati rice and their garlic naan. Worth the trip coming here as tourists from Sweden. Only that, we were there on Sunday and was over crowded and would have been great if table with customers who were done eating should have been considerate enough to stand & leave and let others have the chance to have their seats to have their meal. The place was canteen style and table reservation do not work in this place, so its first come first served. And weekends this place is packed.

The food here is great. I like the vibe too, feels like you are visiting a sort of community place. Staff are really knowledgeable, can tell you all about the options. Last time I went I had the veg pakora and the chilli chicken. Was absolutely amazing.

Over rated restaurant, the food was nauseating. Not worth your money

This has to be one of the best value places in Edinburgh. Very good quality for the money. I've visited virtually every time I've been in Edinburgh. I find that the veggie curries sit better on my stomach so generally go for 3 x veggies plus pilau rice for £9.95. Tbh in Scotland during Fringe trips the veggie intake can be fairly minimal, this more than addresses the balance and injects a healthy dose of vitamins. My friends opted for the meat options and they tasted really good. I really like the canteen feel and sometimes plain good fun to be packed closely into strangers during busy times. I love this. If you want 3 course a-la-Carte or technical fusion cooking this is not for you. If you want affordable, decent nutrition, fast and affordable you'll love it.

Proper home cooked Indian food that is reasonably priced. LOVED it. Also chai that is made as indians intended and not with syrup (just be patient while they make it). Please try this place if you are coming to Edinburgh, but be aware its not 5 star dining its self service / buffet - grab a seat where you can and tuck in.

Es un poco como comer en una cantina: subes al mostrador con tu plato, muchas mesas están en filas y te sientas donde puedes. Tuve la opción vegetariana de curry vegetal y chana. El arroz era muy agradable, pero me pareció que los currys eran desagradablemente calientes / picantes, a pesar de que soy de origen punjabi y crecí comiendo comida india! Las porciones son generosas y el precio no era tan malo, por lo que diría que a mucha gente realmente le gustaría, pero no elegiría ir de nuevo.

Child friendly place. Great service. I had to go out and asked the cashier to look after my two kids. She was very nice to them and when i came back she asked me if i could give them free ice cream. Also you get your food immediately and staff are really nice

Nothing fancy but easily the best food you can get for the price in Edinburgh. Looking for the heartiest, best south Asian meal? Look no further. This will satisfy. The biryani and tikka masala are better than the standard curries so go for those if they’re available. Great value, lovely staff and perfect no nonsense quick food.

11 years ago I was a regular here and visited again after so long...it's still the same humble home cooked style.. good portions..good quality meat and fresh naan..and it's much cheaper for the area..

Loved the food, the price is excellent and the best in the area for a big portion. We weren’t very hungry and shared one meal (lamb curry) with some appetizers and mango lassi. We’re coming back for the chicken tikka soon enough. Highly recommend!

Service was absolutely horrendous and inattentive. Completely ignored customer requests and put their own needs before the customers. Food quality was not worth the money spent; it was bland, dry, mediocre and the sauces were inedible, funky. Milkshakes were artificial and took FOREVER to come out. Will definitely not be coming back here, not worth the money at all and some portions are too small for the money spent. Absolutely disgraceful overall. Only good thing was the chips.

It was my first time eating curries and Indian-type things and how wonderful. I spent 13 days in Edinburgh and ate here around 6 times. The main thing, in my opinion, about this site is the quality-price ratio. Also note that, since I ate here I have become an Indian food geek.

My family's favourite place for Indian food in Edinburgh since we first came here in 2011. All items taste excellent, reasonable price. If you want good quality food at decent price please visit this place.

We went while in Edinburgh on the recommendation of a friend who's a local a few weeks ago and I've been thinking about it ever since. The food was delicious, the portions were huge, the service was quick and efficient, and the prices were very low for what we received. One of the best meals I had on my trip to the UK. They were also very patient with our group hanging out after we finished eating because we were waiting for our hotel check in time and had our bags with us. If only we had a similar restaurant where I live in Colorado I would go there often!
