I really dont like anything here. Food was tasteless plate of chicken is for £9.50 n no taste it was just like watery. I will not recommend

My favourite place to eat in Edinburgh

The food here is great. I like the vibe too, feels like you are visiting a sort of community place. Staff are really knowledgeable, can tell you all about the options. Last time I went I had the veg pakora and the chilli chicken. Was absolutely amazing.

Over rated restaurant, the food was nauseating. Not worth your money

This has to be one of the best value places in Edinburgh. Very good quality for the money. I've visited virtually every time I've been in Edinburgh. I find that the veggie curries sit better on my stomach so generally go for 3 x veggies plus pilau rice for £9.95. Tbh in Scotland during Fringe trips the veggie intake can be fairly minimal, this more than addresses the balance and injects a healthy dose of vitamins. My friends opted for the meat options and they tasted really good. I really like the canteen feel and sometimes plain good fun to be packed closely into strangers during busy times. I love this. If you want 3 course a-la-Carte or technical fusion cooking this is not for you. If you want affordable, decent nutrition, fast and affordable you'll love it.

Nice variety for business dinner and variety of people in team. Good range of choices for everyone. This included for carnivores and veggies.

Came here between Fringe shows. I'm local but, surprisingly, this was my first time at Mosque Kitchen. It's a bit like eating at a canteen - you go up to the counter with your plate many tables are in rows and you just sit where you can. I had the vegetarian choice of vegetable curry and chana. The rice was very nice but I found the curries unpleasantly hot/spicy, even though I'm from a Punjabi background and grew up eating Indian food! Portions are generous and the price wasn't too bad, so I would say that many folk would really like it but I wouldn't choose to go again.

Proper home cooked Indian food that is reasonably priced. LOVED it. Also chai that is made as indians intended and not with syrup (just be patient while they make it). Please try this place if you are coming to Edinburgh, but be aware its not 5 star dining its self service / buffet - grab a seat where you can and tuck in.

No stay in Edinburgh is complete without a trip to The Mosque Kitchen, a local institution that is a favourite of students and Fringe-goers alike. A huge corner restaurant with opening side windows that let in a cooling breeze, The Mosque Kitchen is busy at all times of day but never gets completely full. It’s similar in style to a college refectory that never runs out of freshly made delicious meals. I’ve just returned home from my 13th Fringe and am already longing for an excuse to return! If you love simple Indian street food with flavours to die for, served in generous portions in a bustling communal setting, you’ll love The Mosque Kitchen. A chicken biriani or a lamb curry (my favourite go-to dishes, though there is a wider selection) are just £9, with loads of meat in a huge pile of rice to satisfy any hungry stomach. The Mosque Kitchen is unique. Authentic food, simply served, with reasonable prices and a huge fanbase who return here year after year. If I could give it six stars, I would.

Child friendly place. Great service. I had to go out and asked the cashier to look after my two kids. She was very nice to them and when i came back she asked me if i could give them free ice cream. Also you get your food immediately and staff are really nice

Came here for a quick takeaway snack. Had rice and lentils and a chicken wing. Both were very tasty. Overall reasonably priced - £7 for a generous portion. Would definitely come again for cheap eats.

A Must Go Spot in Edinburgh! Delicious halal food!

Nothing fancy but easily the best food you can get for the price in Edinburgh. Looking for the heartiest, best south Asian meal? Look no further. This will satisfy. The biryani and tikka masala are better than the standard curries so go for those if they’re available. Great value, lovely staff and perfect no nonsense quick food.

Below average. Okay place to come in to have quick halal chicken curry and rice but everything else is sub par from snacks to cake and drinks. The naan’s, doner’s and burgers are subpar too.

11 years ago I was a regular here and visited again after so long...it's still the same humble home cooked style.. good portions..good quality meat and fresh naan..and it's much cheaper for the area..

Loved the food, the price is excellent and the best in the area for a big portion. We weren’t very hungry and shared one meal (lamb curry) with some appetizers and mango lassi. We’re coming back for the chicken tikka soon enough. Highly recommend!

Food was nice and worthy. Big portion and cheap price and quality good.

Service was absolutely horrendous and inattentive. Completely ignored customer requests and put their own needs before the customers. Food quality was not worth the money spent; it was bland, dry, mediocre and the sauces were inedible, funky. Milkshakes were artificial and took FOREVER to come out. Will definitely not be coming back here, not worth the money at all and some portions are too small for the money spent. Absolutely disgraceful overall. Only good thing was the chips.

For us it was a good experience. The food is delicious and appetizing. You have to go to the counter to order, collect the desired dish and then sit at one of the tables in the room. Nice and clean environment. Excellent prices,

It was my first time eating curries and Indian-type things and how wonderful. I spent 13 days in Edinburgh and ate here around 6 times. The main thing, in my opinion, about this site is the quality-price ratio. Also note that, since I ate here I have become an Indian food geek.

Good hearty food at reasonable price...

The taste was good, but at the time of eating, my friends and I went to the bathroom at the same moment. i don't know why. I saw death after eating from this restaurant.

Food was ok unfortunately it is not suitable for Pakistani people it is too bland no spices would recommend Lahori or kebabish in edinburgh

My family's favourite place for Indian food in Edinburgh since we first came here in 2011. All items taste excellent, reasonable price. If you want good quality food at decent price please visit this place.

We went while in Edinburgh on the recommendation of a friend who's a local a few weeks ago and I've been thinking about it ever since. The food was delicious, the portions were huge, the service was quick and efficient, and the prices were very low for what we received. One of the best meals I had on my trip to the UK. They were also very patient with our group hanging out after we finished eating because we were waiting for our hotel check in time and had our bags with us. If only we had a similar restaurant where I live in Colorado I would go there often!

If you wanna get the most amount of food for your hard earned pounds in Edinburgh this is the place to be. I did struggle to eat all the food that I got but I finished every bit of it! The staff is nice too :)

The mosque kitchen is one of my favourite places to eat in Edinburgh. Great affordable food, friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend it.

Great price for last moment dine in or quick takeaway for work/ after work

Quick service with very affordable options. No table service. Their curries are very tasty along with fresh naan or pilau rice. I have also tried their Falooda is sometimes very refreshing after a meal. Good place for students who crave for desi food and want a fulfilling meal for a good price. I haven’t tried much vegetarian options but their lamb curry is very good. We also like their samosas when they are fresh.

Cheap and cheerful, canteen style Indian fast food restaurant. Tonight I had aubergine/pepper curry (slightly spicy), saag aloo (lots of spinach) with a huge mound of rice and a garlic nan for £9.50 Great value, great taste, no waiting

Amazing food with amazing prices

Toilet floor was soaked, seat was covered in urine.No soap and no toilet paper. Couldnt use it. Food was average, with cheap fatty lamb cuts and chicken thighs.Used to be good gone downhill.

For what it's worth, it's a decent place for it's price. You don't get service but it's not an overcrowded business. Which I like. The food is nice and it's community based, rather than another corporate machine. For travellers, local minorities and students it is perfect. They also serve chai which is nice.

The food was great we had a munchy box which was fantastic, and we also had chips cheese and donner meat which was great the prices are great, I’d go here over McDonald’s any day of the week they were very kind to the kids and there was great customer service it is a perfect restaurant for anyone

Don’t ask questions just come eat here. Don’t let your eyes deceive you. It might not look like much from the outside but this place is an absolute banger. Go for the chicken biryani, try the sauces, and love life.

The lady at the counter with the glasses was so rude. She had an attitude problem which ruined my experience even though the food was so tasty espscially the lamb.

I was harassed today as I sat alone for lunch, on my first visit to a place I had been wanting to try for a while. Canteen set up, but when I made it obvious to a bloke trying clearly to engage in conversation wanting my attention while I was eating, that I just wanted to eat lunch, he became fowl mouthed and aggressive . While the young spectacled waitress apologised and brought me water, her attitude was appalling, as her words were that since this chap was a regular “He is fine” Well he certainly was not to me and sadly I will not be back to the mosque kitchen anytime soon, which is a shame as the food was tasty.

Excellent food service and everything is nice and hot to beat Edinburgh’s cold weather. It’s not very spicy, but is delicious and the service team also is good. Although, the masala tea was not having much of a taste and the Fanta, (and probably every other drink here,) was 1.7 pounds.. quite a lot for just one small can of Fanta. The rest was awesome. We ordered Tandoori chicken, chicken biryani and garlic naan. It was definitely the best halal food we’ve ever eaten here in Edinburgh. Highly recommended!

Would highly recommend this place, on a evening out it was worth going here and get to try their very delicious karahi dishes... would definitely go back again even from so many miles away.

The place was quite dirty, sticky floors, old looking. Staff are very rude, extremely poor service, they really couldn’t give a monkeys about you being there, they looked so unbothered, unfriendly and looked like they just couldn’t wait for everyone to leave. Food tasted nice but was cold, maybe best getting the food to go and eating in the comfort of your home. Prices are reasonable.

Canteen-style restaurant, very simple, basic environment. Food excellent, limited but adequate choice, chicken and lamb meat dishes, good selection of vegetarian options. Rice included but ask for their excellent chapatis. My favourite pull-in for a quick lunch.

Went for lunch with a friend I had a lamb curry which was very dry (not enough sauce) which along with rice was difficult to swallow, so only ate some of the lamb kn it's own which in itself was tasty but really needed sauce, my friend had a chicken dish which unfortunately was the same, the issue being there was plenty sauce in the food containers we just thought that that was the way it was served, the staff were polite, the service was on point, the place was extremely clean, it was just sad that the food was so very dry, if I were to go back I would certainly ask for extra sauce on my dish..

Unsatisfied with the cleanliness. Toilets, very low standards of maintenance.

I had a Donner Pizza, which needed around 90 minutes to be served. The pizza itself had more than enough cheese but it was little meat. the Donner meat wasn't really tasty. combined with other Experiences I made, it may is because Scottish people don't use any spices at all. The Pizza crust was very thin and soft. all in all it was a OK Pizza but not worth 90 minute wait.
