This restaurant does not live up to its reputation. We had the set menu and the food was completely tasteless. The daal tasted like nothing it was literally like swallowing oxygen. We told the manager/waiters make it spicy and flavoursome, they did the opposite and just made it terribly spicy and tasteless. I do not know where their chefs are from but they seriously need some training as I work in a restaurant myself and this was unbelievable. The chicken jalfriezi had no onion and peppers in it or any flavour, just some pre made sauce and chicken slumped together. Please can you guys review what you are doing because a restaurant that claims to be open from the 1900’s feels like it only opened yesterday with amateurs. I would advise to stay away from here until you guys start seeing some genuine good reviews. Enjoy. Disappointed because we flew from Milton Keynes all the way to Edinburgh. Should of just got a pizza instead.

We went to this place on Monday evening for dinner with work colleagues all the way from Milton Keynes. We were a large group of 21. As I used to live locally for years, I knew how famous was this restaurant and how tasty was the food. I myself had experience the authentic taste of food several times. That’s why I recommended this restaurant for dinner but I never expected such a huge change in food taste in few years. The taste of food gone worst. We had a set meal. Starters were not tasty. Kebab was too dry and rest were oily. Mains were terribly spicy and not taste at all. Daal was totally bland but spicy. We all were hungry after a day tour but no one enjoyed food at all. Service was good, we were looked after and staff were friendly. I especially recommended this restaurant but I was really disappointed after having food. Being such a reputed restaurant, they should have maintain their quality of food.

Visited khushi's after a long time, my first experience was not good, the food was bland. However I thought I will give it a go again after 10 years and the family might enjoy it. Unfortunately I wish I had not gone. The sizzling grill was far from sizzling it was cold. We had to send it back. It was once again served with the rest of the order. The mix vegetables was just potatoes and coliflower also Luke warm. The lamb Kari was so bland and I was told all the sources are pre-made and they just Chuck in chicken or lamb. This is not called freshly made. Naans are also pre cooked and just warmed up. Grill meat shish kebaab had a funny smell. This is the worst experience we had. Our family go out for meals quite often. I do not usually review. But I had warn others to stay away for khushi's awful bland, Pre cooked food. We ended up getting pizza's from khybers. Delicious and hot.

A friend and I had a meal booked for 5.30 on a week day. Firstly she wasn't told on booking that there was no pre theatre menu in December. We arrived separately and it appeared when we did see each other that they didn't realise both had arrived and so were about to seat us at separate tables! The meal came promptly (although originally it wasn't ours) and was tasty. However very soon after we had finished they came with the bill - which we hadn't asked for. There was no offer of pudding or coffee and they were very quick to look for payment. The restaurant wasn't full by any means and there had been no prior warning that the table needed to be vacated at a certain time. A disappointing experience!

Was here with a work night out. Yes there was a large group and a few folks that had a few however not everyone had! Food is not awful but it’s not great either. Average is what I describe it. I put this down to being a large group but what took the biscuit was the waiter furiously waving at me to hand over my plate because he couldn’t be bothered to reach for it. He then furiously waved for me to pass the persons next to me. How bloody rude!!! This was my first time here and if this is what you are like with a group then I won’t be back as an individual booking. Learn some manners and treat a group booking as you would with a regular table.

The food was very good as I had the Butter Chicken that was excellent and my companions all said that their meals were also very tasty during our 2 hour slot in Khushi’s . The downsides were that some of the tables were too close and your chair got continually bumped by other diners/ staff and when the restaurants full it’s very noisy . First impressions , it is a modern, stylish and well presented establishment and the staff were very welcoming. We were shown to our table and provided with glasses and a wine cooler for the bottle that we had taken. Started with poppadums and pickle tray, five tasty pickles. Starters were very well presented and portions were good, mains were just as good and again, good portions. We were served throughout by the same waiter (Sam ) and he was very professional and did a good job in making our meal as pleasant as possible. Dinner for one on a solo trip to Edinburgh. Not licensed so I ordered a spiced mango lassi instead of the usual beer - it was thick, creamy and had just enough ginger to be spicy without overpowering. Really good. Opted just for poppadoms and the pickle tray to start - crisp poppadums and nicely flavoured pickles and dips. The paneer karahi main was really tasty, beautifully spiced, and the tarka dal (by which I always judge an Indian restaurant) was excellent. Service a little hurried perhaps. Wish I'd been in town longer to visit again and try some of the other vegetarian options on the menu, several sounded interesting.

Visited this restaurant with three friends on a busy Thursday evening. While there seem to be an abundance of waiters on the floor, it took ages for anyone to actually ask us if we wanted a drink. We then had to catch their eye again, after about 20 minutes, to order our food. Then again when it was time to get the bill. No-one asked us if everything was ok with our food and although it was quite nice (but definitely nothing special) the poor service means we’d be very unlikely to go back there again, it put us all of.

We were seated, orders taken and food delivered all in about 10 minutes, I have never seen food delivered so fast! The mains were delivered before we had finished our starters! They have no idea of customer service and hell bent on speed! There are several Indian restaurants in this area. We were disappointed with our experience at Khushi's, due to the quality of the food. We had to send back a poppadum with a hair firmly attached to it, and yes, the whole batch were replaced. The mains were generally flavourless, just hot, and one chicken dish really left a question over whether it was chicken being served or something else. We were offered an exchange or alternative dish, but by this time the meal was not really enjoyable. The management took the one main dish off the bill which was good, and as expected. We would not dine at Khushi's again.

Novel to be charged extra for relishes with poppadums and no one explained which was which, both are, to us, unexpected. The big disappointment was pudding. It has long lost the reputation and character it once had many years ago and now trades on past glories. It once used to be a very well respected establishment for its food and service in Edinburgh, however it now has traded good food for bland generic dishes which are no better than those a reasonable cook could make at home using a supermarket cook in sauce, sadly below par. When I visited it was not busy by far for a Sunday lunch and the service was slow, and orders got mixed up. The food although acceptable was nothing special. I would not recommend going here.

The restaurant is quite large with a lovely front dining area. Unfortunately, we did not make reservations and were seated in the cafeteria-like back room. Make sure to make a reservation, if you want to sit in the nicer front area. This is one of the many restaurants in Edinburgh that does not sell wine or beer but permits you to bring your own with you. They even provide an ice bucket to keep the wine or beer cold. Make sure to bring some with you.

Sunday evening visit - I’m afraid the service was nothing short of terrible. It’s a byob place - we waited 25 minutes for glasses having asked two staff for them. The salad was repulsive - check the pics. The noise as staff clattered down plates and cutlery suggests an unhappy staff; tossing down serviettes in the middle of the table. The food was OK - perhaps it was better, but its quality was coloured by the experience. Shan’t be visiting again.

They have a set menu at about £12 per person which we had, allowing us to try various menu items. Chicken pakora, aloo Gobi and naan were good. Chose this restaurant based on reviews on Google.

First impressions not great, dog poo all over the outside step in the front entrance. Then, when we were shown to our booked table, before we even sat down we were told we had to be ‘out and free up the table by 7.45’ ! We certainly didn’t feel very welcome at all, we felt rushed and as if we were an inconvenience. Then we were told it was bring your own bottle which we didn’t know. As for the food, it’s the first time I have left an Indian restaurant still hungry. I had a lamb dish and there was hardly any lamb. Partners chicken was plentiful but tough. Naan bread was tiny. Bottle of drinking water was warm. Bill was huge! Had better curry out of my local supermarket.

Very busy for a Wednesday night (close to the theatre) so you're best to book if you want a table at a specific time. Great food, but very sub-par service; rushed and certainly not with a smile! We didn't realise it was BYOB (with no corkage fee) so that's why there was a bit of a premium pricing on the food for the volume that you receive. No wine/beers on the menu. Excellent curries, can't fault them - but probably wont be back in a rush. Would be a perfect pre-show meal though!

...then Khushi's is the place to go. If you want a relaxed, enjoyable dining experience, then sadly, it is not.

In this neighborhood, it's hard to pick an Indian restaurant as there are quite a few. We picked Khushi's based on looking in the window and actually seeing people eating there.

My partner and I ate here for lunch after our hotel's recommendation. The food was great, service excellent, and the serving portions were substantial. We each got the lunch special (chicken korma for me and lamb curry for him) that included two starters and a main for a great price. We wished we had somewhere to take the leftovers- I would recommend the lunch special for sure!

I've been here a few times since it opened but this was the first time for about a year. The food was very good but for a Saturday night the place was empty: no more than 2 tables being used at a time during the whole time we were there, although it did do a steady trade in carry-outs. Even although it was quiet the service was less than attentive. There were 2 waiters and someone who appeared to be the manager but who seemed to do very little. We were not made to feel welcome. The food was very good, not too spicy hot like I find with some restaurants. It's such a shame about the atmosphere and service and I wonder why it was so quiet.

We have enjoyed many meals at the Ronaq both in Market Street and in Comely Bank, but I am afraid our experience on Sunday evening was terrible. My husband had the fish tikka and after eating we headed for the bus. On travelling back home he became really ill, burning and sickness. When we did manage to get home he was sick all night and most of Sunday. Don’t know what has happened to this restaurant but I definitely won’t return. I called the Manager on Monday to raise a complaint but it was as though he wasn’t interested. There are better places to eat in Edinburgh. Shocking.
