The staff are fantastic. They look after you. The food is great, good selection of beverages alcoholic or otherwise. The regular staff are great in terms of their hospitality. Good pub for if you’re nipping in for a drink/food or perfect if you want to make it your local.

Called in for dinner as we were passing by. Big pub with plenty of space. Good menu and lots of choice for veggies too. Food served quickly and the Mac n cheese was good. Plenty of drinks choice too. Loud in the main bar so had to shout to have a conversation but found a table away from the buzz.

Disappointing salad. ‘With new potatoes’ = one small potato cut into four slices, ‘with pickled water melon’ = one small teaspoonful, three tiny slices of cucumber, but a plate full of lovely rocket and dressing. Haloumi was extra. 😕

Didn’t visit. Tried calling them for a booking. Phone just rang and rang and eventually a message told me to ring back later and that I can’t leave a message. Tried calling again several times but just got the same message. Emailed them from their site but still no response. Gave up and booked another place nearby. What sort of business runs itself like this ?? The answer is a poor one and one to avoid, which I did.

Popped in towards latter hours of Marathon on Sunday - lovely atmosphere, lovely people , lovely staff. Drinks were being served in plastic but we understood due to volume of customers for the day. Liked it so much I have booked for dinner after our TCT charity walk on 4th May. Hoping to have a large blush /rosé in a glass to celebrate 😊 Menu looks promising!

Took my niece to lunch on Friday 16th Feb. The two ladies behind the bar were friendly and polite. Food was excellent and drinks were reasonably priced considering the pub is next to a sightseeing icon. Always go to The Monument when I visit London.

I've stayed up the road in the Bank Premier Inn a number of times when visiting London - I used to live in London before moving to Glasgow & have been to The Monument a number of times. I was there again a couple of weekends ago with my sister which was her 1st time of visiting and we both said we had to post a great review! The location is where I like to stay - it's away from the main tourist drags of Covent Garden, Leicester Sq but easy to reach from the mainline stations. "The Monument" pub is fabulous for great food & friendly service with a great mix of customers. There are tourists seeing The Monument but also folk from the nearby City of London (Leadenhall Market is only 5 mins away but so pricey!) and families - Mums & Dad's with kids in school uniforms from earlier on in the day. My sister said she would feel so comfortable just being there on her own reading with a glass of wine & I would really recommend this as a great space away from obvious tourist traps in London. The food was fantastic and, for 2 people, I would recommend the 3 plates option for a substantial evening meal, maybe with the addition of some chips if you'v had a busy day sightseeing. We ate there two nights in a row as we liked it so much and thanks so much to Zaneta for your lovely attentive service - we will be back! And - not about this venue but the location! The Premier Inn Bank is 5 mins one way to the Tower of London and 2 mins the other way to Monument Station which is very well connected so everything is an all-in win! Thanks again Zaneta for your fabulous and attentive service!

1st & last visit here. Bar service was terrible,they have no idea at all. Waited at a fairly empty bar and a lady came across and served the guy next to me who arrived after me didn’t ask who is next.landlord then arrived and equally useless walked straight past me and went to another guy who had just rocked up. If you are looking for good bar service give this place a wide birth. If the boss cannot get his act together what hope is there. These are basic skills if working on a bar, not difficult, level 1 at best. Do t k ow what sort of training you have received but it’s basic to ask who is next. Avoid at all costs. Oyster shed so much better and river view.

Das Pub wäre sehr gemütlich und einladend, jedoch ist das Personal äusserst unfreundlich. Weder sind die beiden Damen in der Lage eine Bestellung aufzunehmen ohne zu motzen, noch nehmen sie Trinkgeld an. Ausserdem wäre es ratsam, die Kunden vorgängig zu fragen, ob sie cash oder mit Karte bezahlen möchten und sie nicht anzublaffen, wenn sie bar bezahlen möchten. Ein weiterer Besuch ist sicherlich ausgeschlossen.

This pub is fast becoming our London “local”. As always, the staff were friendly, the pub loos was clean, the tables and menus were clean and the food was nice. The only downside - but is not the pubs fault - is the price of drinks. We would have stayed longer but cannot justify spending so much money on drink.

Dropped in for lunch with some friends. Good beer and pub food. One problem with my order, but excellent service from the staff to correct this. Ability to handle situations like this is a test of good service. Would definitely visit again.

We had a fabulous time! Not only did Sandra and her colleagues reserve a great area for the 10 of us but the service was second to none. Everyone was so polite and helpful, efficient and welcoming too. What more could you ask for? Oh yes. Good food too! Highly recommend.

We usually find Greene King pubs / restaurants to be good and reliable but this one doesn't do the brand any favours. We called in on 2/7/2022 and I went to the bar to order drinks and two gammon, chips and peas- one with eggs and one with pineapple... only they didn't have any pineapple ! My wife cannot eat eggs so she had to make do without pineapple. The meals came quickly and looked nice. The chips and garden peas were good and my eggs were good. However, then we come to the gammon. They were terrible. The worst gammon either of us had experienced. Never have we tasted such grossly over-salty gammon. It was also very undercooked, raw in the middle, very chewy and inedible. A waitress came to ask if everything was alright and we told her about the gammon. The response was, oh dear, very sorry, have a free tea or coffee. Not good enough ! We ate everything on our plates but had to leave the gammon as it was so awful. Another chap came after we had finished and stared at the gammon on our plates. We repeated our concerns about the gammon and he spoke to another chap who immediately offered a refund for the meals, which we accepted, and just charged for our two J20s. We were both thirsty for the rest of our day because of the excessive salt in the gammon. We wondered if the "chef" is actually qualified as the gammon was so badly cooked, aside from being over salty ? It is only because the chips, eggs and peas were fine that I have been generous in giving two stars. "Chef" and meat suppliers need addressing.

What a great place ! I haven't been in such a long time! The food is so delicious that I will definitely come back!I highly recommend it! Fantastic atmosphere, great people! Nothing else is needed to be happy :)

Having worked in the area for 5 years I have been in the pub a few times , I thought I would pop in to watch the cricket and a couple of beers after work.while I was there I decided to have something to eat , I ordered the chicken burger with meaty fries , around £14 What I received was nothing short of disgusting. First of all the food arrived on a tray , fries in a takeaway bag and burger in tin foil ! The fries were a pile of congealed crap consisting of chips , cheese and a few flakes of something resembling pieces of unknown meat all stuck together in a blob in the takeaway bag, I then moved on to the burger. After carefully peeling away the tin foil I found a chicken breast burger the size of a 50 p piece , this had the texture of a rubber power ball , wrapped around this was what was supposed to be bacon . More like some extra salted soggy stuff I have never seen before, the whole meal if you can call it that was swimming in fat like it had been thrown in the deep fryer together, Wetherspoons make this food look like high class French cuisine, Will not be ever going back and strongly advise anyone else to do so

Due to current restrictions I had to order a meal. Sausage and mash was ordered. It had obviously been cooked several hours previous, the sausages were like rubber dry and rock hard in places I should have sent it back but to hungry. Pub and staff nice though

Went here a few weeks ago with my wife and daughter and enjoyed our meal here. The location was brilliant and the food and service was good. Will definitely go back when in London and would also recommend.

El servicio fue excelente, sin embargo, la comida! ! Además de tener buenas críticas en su asado del domingo, solo tenían 4 disponibles los domingos. This was a great place for dinner, and an opportunity to watch a match. The dinner menu has lots to offer—vegetarian and vegan well labeled; however GF was difficult to ID. The bar is well stocked and does offer some GF ciders and ginger beer. This is a pub, so if you are from the states don’t forget that you must order at the bar. There is plenty of seating on the inside, but limited outside seating.

Good spacious pub with plenty of tables for socialising and eating. We dropped in for a late lunch and the food arrived in good time but was not piping hot; standard fare, nothing special to write home about. Good selection of drinks and the staff not overly friendly.

This pub is on the corner by The Monument. At first you don't realise it is a pub. Inside it is well set out and spacious. Good selection of drinks. Again a sports pub with TVs all around. But no sound though. The food looked nice although we just had drinks. Nice staff. We were there at the weekend but I would think it is busy in the week with the financial district just around the corner.

This is simply a traditional and typical English pub. Very well decorated, nice staff and good food. If you want to eat a tasty fish&chips meal, I'd advice you this pub!

When we arrived there seemed to be only 1 staff member working, she was serving food and serving behind the bar. She was really nice but as you would expect when it got busy at the bar she got a little stressed.....fair enough and credit to her because she was always polite. I ordered food 3 starter dishes for I think £12. Food took a long time to arrive and when it did it was cold. Another staff member delivered our food and when I advised our food must have been sat waiting to be delivered to us, because the poor lady behind the bar was busy, her response was ‘I don’t know I’ve just come off lunch’. We got a refund and left not wanting the food reheated and given back to us. Not worth the risk. So a disappointing visit. And maybe staff should work out their breaks better to give a better service to the public.

Visited for good and drink, gas went on the bar so no lager for 20 minutes or so then one of the barmaids got stroppy when she informed me that one till only took cards when I only had cash on me. I ordered what they proclaimed to be the “Big” Fish and Chips for £15.95 (as opposed to the advertised “normal/regular” portion. The fish portion was pretty small, about ¾ the size of your hand, the bread was incredibly stale, there was one picked onion in a cup, a handful of peas in another and what was purported to be “triple-cooked” chips, the reality of which was some very cheap tasting, bone dry oven chips in a small paper bag. It was the kind of dinner a ten year old could put together. I have visited the pub several times, the staff are hit and miss as is the pub. Sometimes its dead, sometimes its noisy but there is rarely much of an atmosphere and the staff do little to improve that or make you feel welcome in any way, much like you would expect from any chain pub.Overall, it’s convenient, but there is little else to recommend it in any way shape or form. Needs a big overhaul as it is a long way behind what you can find in that area…

Visited last Saturday with my friend Kelly, had such a fabulous visit. We both fancied a gin with some food so I went to the bar and met a lovely lady called Bianca who told us about the gin flights ( great value for money ) she told us what gins to go for which we went with and was very glad as we enjoyed them, we got 3 gins and 2 tonics for £12.00, not only was she informative but she saved us some money too. She was very attentive and took the time and put great effort into making our drinks which I really appreciated. We wont forget her. The food was devine. Bianca checked on us several times and made us feel very welcomed, the next time I visit London I will definitely re-visit The Monument!!!

Necesitábamos un lugar para comer y ver fútbol y con dos niños que acababan de visitar la Torre de Londres. Este fue el hallazgo ideal, un poco desgastado pero limpio y ordenado, el personal del bar no podría haber sido más servicial o amable, había un gran ambiente y se sentía muy amable a pesar de que nuestro equipo del norte (Liverpool) jugaba con un rival más local (Chelsea ) La comida no era lujosa, pero era buena y una excelente relación calidad-precio, y el Gin Flyer fue una ganga absoluta a las 12 por 3 ginebras, ¡incluido el tónico! Después de un par de días en Londres, ¡la factura fue un sueño! Recomendaría.

During a visit to our friends on the bank holiday we stopped in as we enjoy other greene king pubs. Pint of fosters and a bowl of chips. Can't go wrong. Friendly service. Would come back.

Good selection of beers and spirits reasonable prices. We ordered some sharing platters, three between 5 of us and there was plenty to go round. Vary spacious bar area and staff lovely food was great and came out quickly.

Went Here for lunch, have a special lunch time offer. Had the philly steak sandwich with a side and drink for £9. Quite tasty, service quite quick, have booths for bigger parties. Decent range of beers including a few real ales.

After a long thinking time I visited this restaurant/bar for having my first Fish and chips dinner since I never have eating that in combo. Food comes very fast and beer was my choise to have as drink to. I enjoyed the meal and had one eye on the big screen that have strange quality on the Westham - Newcastle match. Very friendly staff. Good beer. I was there over 2 hours and had a good saturday time. Took a couple of beer after dinner and was happy that I went into this restaurant.

Came here on valentines and managed to get a quiet little booth, bar staff were friendly food was great. Music wasn’t too intrusive. Definitely recommend

Not a bad pub but not memorable. Called in for a quick pint. 6 of us and the bill was £30.50P. There's nothing wrong with the place and I'd go back, it's just nothing exceptional.

Hora feliz termina a las 6 de la tarde, no es genial como todo el mundo en la ciudad termina más tarde de eso, pero si se puede hacer, es bastante bueno. Después de la hora feliz no son caros, especialmente para esta parte de la ciudad.

Been here a few times and always friendly welcome and pleasant staff. 10 of us met here and were happy with service and drinks which are good prices. Plenty of seating with large screen tv as well. Didn't eat on this occasion but have done previously. Well worth a visit.

Visited the pub for evening drinks, we had sectioned off a bit of the pub as there was around 15 of us, the staff were very good and a fun evening was had, very busy and lively on a damp Friday evening in #London, we didn’t eat, we stayed till close and memories were made, thank you

Had one of the most disappointing chicken burgers at The Monument Pub for lunch today. The chicken was literally 1/3 size of an average chicken breast with a very light coating. I feel very cheated- and it wasn't cheap either.

My friend waited half an hour for a drink even though staff knew she'd been waiting longer than others they were serving first. When the drinks eventually came they were the wrong cocktails so she told them not to bother. Barman was very rude to her about this. Another bartender came over 15 minutes later and tried to charge her for the drinks she never received. Poor service especially since it was Saturday around 5pm so not busy at all. Do not bother, take your business elsewhere

Después de subir la maravillosa monumento encontramos el pub y tenía que recuperarse con un encantador pub inglés almuerzo. Las buenas salchichas y puré. . . . Con un frío vaso de cerveza de jengibre. Ambiente encantador y ambiente tradicional. . . Ciertamente, los días de excursión. completado . . . .

Nos detuvimos en el pub monumento en nuestro camino a casa sobre las 5. 15:00 el sábado mientras toma un día en familia en Londres con nuestro hijo de 14 años. En la 5. 58:00 se pidió era dejar el pub ya teníamos un niño porque los niños no son aparentemente después de 6. 00:00 h. Aunque todavía tenía la mitad de una botella de vino para beber y nadie había mencionado que no se admiten niños después de 6. 00:00 h.

Estado aquí un par de veces ahora, esta vez pedimos una ensalada Las ensaladas son siempre un poco caro para un poco de pollo y lechuga , pero en general, la comida fue buena.

Mi pareja y yo fuimos a caminar cerca de nuestro hotel y encontré este pub para un almuerzo. El pub era grande pero no ocupados, nuestra orden fue tomada rápidamente y llegó unos 10 minutos más tarde, nos quedamos con macarrones, pan de ajo y hamburguesa con patatas fritas, la comida era lo suficientemente agradable para un almuerzo rápido y el precio era razonable.

Een chille pub met een relaxte atmosfeer, echter was de service niet om over naar huis te schrijven. Toen wij aan de bar onze bestelling wilden plaatsen, werden wij om identificatiebewijs gevraagd. Uiteraard was dit geen probleem totdat een van de barmedewerkers net iets te veel theater probeerde te maken vanwege het feit dat sommige van ons jonger oogden dan dat ze daadwerkelijk waren. Laten we verder gaan naar de drankjes: Twee San Miguels met de nasmaak van Surinaamse sopropo. Uiteraard gingen wij hier niet mee akkoord en retourneerden wij de twee biertjes naar de bar. Hier werd ons duidelijk gemaakt dat het aan ons lag en werd er nog even fijn aan een vaste gast gevraagd of het anders smaakte dan normaal. Als we nu gaan kijken naar gastvrijheid, was deze in de omschreven situatie niet terug te vinden. We moesten het er maar mee doen, óf een nieuw biertje kopen. Want uiteraard was het te duur om een nieuw biertje te tappen. Nu kan ik heel cliché het kostenplaatje van een getapt biertje voor u opschrijven, maar dat is totaal niet belangrijk voor deze recensie. Een lach en een cursus klachtenafhandelen zou deze pub sieren. Kortom een bittere ervaring op een zonnige middag.

This place is a popular place for any events that are held by my place of work. Drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is generally great.

Pub très convivial, il, faut profiter des HAPPY OURS (16/18H) vous recevez deux consomations au prix d'une. En general; les anglais aiment aller boire un verre après le boulot et de 17 à 19H le pub est bondé mais sans l'être, il y a une chouette ambiance et la lumière est diffuse à souhait pour un moment de degustation entre amis. Comme dans la plupart des pub ce dernier offre un choix de bières et d'alcools mais il faut essayer les cocktails .... délicieux, il y a plusieurs écrans géants pour les match de foot ou pour diverses manifestations televisées.

We visited this pub tonight and our initial thoughts were how lovely it was inside, nice and comfy with private little areas and the football on the TV. That's where the good bit of this review ends. I ordered the sausage and mash with buttered greens. When it arrived there was nothing green to be seen. So I mentioned this to the miserable looking waitress who took my meal back to the kitchen. When she returned my dinner had raw chopped up cabbage sprinkled over the top! I was so hungry I ate it. I was a little amused at the ridiculousness of it to be honest! Then comes dessert, three out of four of us ordered the plum crumble with Cornish clotted cream ice cream. What did we get? Plum crumble with mint and choc chip icecream, no explanation, by the way this is a gross combination! To top it off the crumble was pure sugar. We all managed one spoonful it was that awful, we sent it back. Maybe the staff should have a read of their menu to see what should be appearing on the plates they serve, if they dont have something that people have paid for they should advise their customers, not just turn out any old rubbish. The waitress was dreadful, so full of attitude and really miserable not an ounce of customer care. Steer clear people, the previous poor reviews are spot on.

We were strolling around the area with family and friends after the visit to the towers of London, and we found this nice pub for lunch. Great atmosphere on Saturday at noon, you really feel the London mood! Great hamburgers and one of the best fish&chip with amazing beers!!! Even if it is front of the "monument" not a tourists place!!!

Do not eat in here unless you like your food nuked into oblivion in the microwave so it ends up dry and rubbery. THE worst meal out I have had in a very long time. I only ate my burger as I was incredibly hungry rather than out of enjoyment. We told the manager we thought the food was poor and we got a refund on the nachos with pulled pork that had been nuked so the pork ended up so dry and resembling tinned tuna. Avoid.

Again, used this pub whilst staying at the nearby Premier Inn Hotel. Very nice looking pub inside, so don't be put off by the bland looking exterior.We didn't eat but the menu looked varied. Very quiet at the weekend and seemed to close really early - although later than their website stated, so please check if you want to visit - especially if you require food.Service and drinks were OK, big screens on showing England playing but because of the area, still really quiet.Right next to Monument Station and the Monument (do you see the pattern forming here!) to the Great Fire of London, which you can climb if you feel energetic. All in all, a pleasant few drinks on a Sunday afternoon, would use again if I was close by.

After reading the reviews about this place I was pleasantly surprised, sure they offer pub food but it´s far better than most, the waitress was super friendly and charming and I´ll definitely be back if ever I´m visiting the area again.

To start with only half the menu was available to choose on an early Saturday evening.The food when it arrived was to be frank awful, no vegetables were available as per menu, also the meat pie was dry and not fit to eat together with the fact the chips were cold. The order was very slow to arrive and poor quality and when a request for the manager to complain to nobody could raise them.Certainly would not visit another Green King pub again if this is the type of experience you get if you purchase food there.However, the staff on duty were considerate in the circumstances.

Came here with my mother in law and my dog. We asked the staff if they would allow our dog in,they said yes if course so we happily bought some drinks and took a menu to our table. We ordered the mac burger and then told they didn't have any burgers in stock, disappointed but I wasn't that bothered so ordered the hunters chicken instead. A while passed and a waitress offered us sauces for our meal and then looked at our dog.To my shock she said that she doesn't allow dogs in the pub, we explained that the other staff said it wasn't a problem and she walked off.... she later returned with a refund for the meals and asked to leave! I'm sorry but surely the staff should know if dogs are welcome or if they aren't. Maybe bring it up in staff meeting to avoid reviews like this one!

First of all, go to The Hydrant, which is across the street. It is where I drink and their beer selection is much better.Secondly, they had a Christmas beer apparently on tap in February. Biggest problem was I knew my football match clashed with the Six Nations so I tweeted them to ask if they would show both. They promised they would and said if it wasn't on when I arrived, they would put it on. So I went and they wouldn't put it on, despite the fact there was a screen being watched by only two people who weren't even watchinf the rugby. So they basically enticed me to come and then wouldn't do the thing they promised to do. To be fair to the staff, they had been left in the lurch by the manager or whoever controls the Twitter account and after I explained why I was annoyed, they offered me a free drink. Which I appreciated but turned down.

Went in for lunch with a friend and ordered the 'prime steak' burger with cheese and bacon. It was not a good quality burger and it was really dry and only barely warm so I sent it back. The waiter was helpful and brought me out a fresh burger which was hot but still not good quality (definitely not 'prime steak') and really dry despite being served in a brioche bun with bacon and cheese!

Great option in London for a pub visit. Good selection of ales and loads of TV's if sport is your thing. Food portions are generous and well priced. Definitely worth the visit.

It is in a convenient location and is popular with local workers on lunch. Food is too heavy and overpriced for what you have. Two burger meals came out cold, one was returned with minimum fuss (other couldn't be bothered to rtn meal) edible but not great was general opinion.

We stopped off there on our way home after taking my son and his friend (both 12) to see a football match.We got them a coke and got a guiness ourselves and settled down to watch the football on tv. After about 15 minutes the barmaid came over and told us we had to leave as they didn't allow children on the premises! This was at 5.45pm....the 2003 act changed the law so it is up to the management of the pub itself....so if you've got children avoid this place!

Busy pub, very efficient service and great value. Wide range of draught beers and excellent pub grub.

We called in here on route to meet friends nearby, attracted by the large sign outside declaring that mulled wine was available - just what we needed on a cold foggy morning! Imagine our disappointment when the chap at the bar told us it wasn't available. Surely it wouldn't have taken many minutes to heat some up, since I don't suppose it was homemade, and we were virtually the only customers? We had to settle for a cup of tea, which was perfectly fine and the milk came in cute miniature churns.Later that day we found ourselves at the Monument again and decided to see if the mulled wine was back on - and it was! However, it was a bit of a let-down as we only got a small amount for £4.95 and it wasn't brilliant. The pub was mad busy and very hot by this stage so we only stayed for one.

Paramos en este pub porque era un poco tarde para comer, así que decidimos no seguir buscando, pedimos dos hamburguesas que estaban bastantes ricas pero el lugar no es barato, alrededor de 12 libras cada hamburguesa con patatas. Lo mejor del restaurante los camareros, muy agradables y atentos, especialmente un camarero español que fue un encanto con nosotros.

I had lunch here with 2 work colleagues this week. I work just opposite but it is the sort of place I wouldn't usually go near - a very basic looking pub offering Sky Sports. Anyway, lots of other places were full so we gave it a try. I had the "Buttermilk chicken burger" minus the bun. It consisted of a tiny piece of chicken in rather soggy breadcrumbs (which I scraped off), 3 pieces of lettuce, 2 slices of raw onion, 2 slices of gherkin and a small container with very dry, completely tasteless french fries. A complete rip off at £11.45. Afterwards I went round the corner to Pret and got something tasty and filling!

Really great staff make this a cut above the rest. Good selection of beer and guest ales. Busy location but more bearable after nine pm.

I arrange to meet a couple of friends here before going on to a private party. We didn't eat and only had a couple of drinks, but it was a great place to meet. Even for someone who didn't know London, just say the pub next to The Monument.There was a good atmosphere and the staff were friendly. The place is deceptively large but we got served quickly even though the place was busy.

I arrived here extremely hungover on a Sunday at around midday because I saw that they were showing the North London derby on their big screen. The place is very nicely furnished and had a relaxed atmosphere . I was starving so ordered one of the specials which was chicken schnitzel (wasn't expecting much) and a coke. The woman behind the bar and both food servers were extremely attentive and smiley. When the food finally came , it was very delicious. I haven't had a chicken schnitzel that good since I was in Austria last year! Overall , this is clearly a very well run establishment! Clean, great food and excellent customer service!

Very good pub. Warm atmosphere, good food and professional friendly service. Definitely come backs again!
