The old waiter felt offended when I asked him to clean the table I approached with a children to have a lunch. Started screaming that he's to busy. Barmaid (black female) on the other hand informed us about the "backlog" in the kitchen and the fact that we won't be able to put any order for another 45-60 minutes and if we want to eat we can go somewhere else. Never again! Do not visit that place. Thank you

The employee did not interact in a good way and started shouting and was racist because we found a table outside and changed our place. We informed the employee that we had changed our place and she said it is not a problem, you can change the place and the waiter started shouting without any respect. I do not like this behavior and I hope he learns politeness and how to deal with respectable people

One of the members of staff, I think she may have been the manager, was unbelievably rude. The service was slow and they didn’t bring out a few dishes and still charged us for them and showed no sign of apology when we pointed out the mistake. The most beautiful building totally let down by the restaurant inside.

The price is high, the coffee is good and the lemon cake is delicious

Order came late and it was not whole order.We have to waite for our soup andvdrink.No cutlary was provided. asked for it still it was not enough.Staff is blaming each others.Service was very poor.

I liked the atmosphere and building, but the food took a long time, and you could tell it had been sitting there. The food was over cooked, and the steak was laughable. I don't recommend, especially considering the prices.

The space was beautiful, the food was ok, the waitstaff were downright rude. There was one lady in particular who had bad energy right from the start. The salad I ordered was overdressed and I asked for a few more pieces of lettuce. She took it to the cook and they blatantly made fun of my request as I waited and watched. It made for a terrible eating experience at Hyde Park.

Had avocado on toast. Poached eggs were OVERCOOKED. Avocado was more like guacamole. Salad was going off. Water was good. Napkins were also good.

I’m writing this because while the food and coffee are good, they are constantly closing for events without putting anything on their website. For locals who make a long walk through the park expecting to then have coffee before going back, it’s becoming irritating. Naturally they have a lot of events, it’s a great place. But if locals can’t count on knowing it they’re open, either we will start bothering them with endless phone calls before going or we just won’t bother anymore- there are other nice cafes on the north side of the park. The other one in the park is not remotely the same thing- always chaotic, no table service and more of a place for tourists passing by. Magazine is a place we all come to meet friends, work remotely, get coffee on a walk through the centre. Magazine, be more thoughtful to your local customers.

Nice design and beautiful architecture from the well-known Zaha Hadid It is at the end of Kensington Park, before Hyde Park, you can take rest before moving to the next park.

Staff huffing at me. A simple salad came after 20min even though it's not busy and there is plenty of staff. Food quality was good though and lovely setting. Go to the Serpentine gallery which is amazing!

Dont recommend this place at all, high prices with low food quality abd they charge you more on you food without your consent. Be careful!!! Sticky tables, cold croissants, dishes not available and napkins that leave white bits all over your black clothes, very disappointing.

For a special occasion we had planned to combine two great shows at the Serpentine Galleries with lunch together and we had a fully confirmed lunch booking for 2pm. When we arrived we found the restaurant closed.! There were a couple of staff inside who were mildly apologetic saying they’d had a lot of big functions and the kitchen wasn’t opening. But they weren’t really sure why. They offered that the restaurant was open the next day. We laughed - obviously none of us would dream of ever going back! There was no indication via email or otherwise that the restaurant couldn’t honour the booking. Let alone an apology.

I never usually write negative reviews, but what a poor experience! I wanted to see the gallery, but when I asked at the café how to get in, I was told "it's closed" with no apology or explanation (it should have been open on a Wednesday). I stayed for a drink and to check emails etc. instead, paid £3.20 for a lemonade and while the bartender searched for a long while for a bottle opener, another member of staff said "yeah?" I said, "excuse me?" and he grunted "yeah?" again. I just explained I was waiting for a lemonade and he grunted and walked away. It was bizarre. When I finally got the lemonade with no apology for the odd delay, it was served in a paper coffee cup and lid (eh?) even though other people were drinking from glasses, as is customary for a soft drink. I don't usually like to pay £3.20 for a lemonade from a paper coffee cup. Again, no explanation. I didn't bother to say anything. All in all, a strange, hostile experience that prompted me to write this review. At least the WiFi was good.

Very bad service👎🏼 There is a sign on wait before being seated and you could wait 10 minutes and no one would answer. Food quality is average The utensils are unclean. Not worth .

We popped into The Magazine for a very light lunch and were greeted by a friendly staff member and told to choose a table. We were told to order at the counter but a staff member came and took our order. The place was rather quiet at this stage. My wife's latte was fine; my chai wasn't a full cup and by the time I'd worked through the froth it was only a bit more than half a cup of actual liquid. It was made with powder rather than proper leaves but I've come to expect that in the UK. I asked for the souffle - I said we were after a light lunch - but it was unavailable that day (a Saturday). I went with the crab cake instead and it was very tasty if a tad expensive.

Bad service, rude staff, felt like unwelcome I came in a want to have lunch and coffee as well as my friend is coming. Came also to do some work and the waiter she refused that I used the electricity socket and was just next to me I saw the electricity extension there, she also didn’t want me to set on the couch seating….bad impression! Many people told me it is a bad place but my fault I didn’t listen to them. Don’t waste your time and mood going to such coffee place at all!!!

it was an amazing experience ! a must see if you're in London. such a lovely place and everything tasted 10/10 !!! maybe id suggest to add a possibility to order while sitting outside but it's just a minor thing :) will definitelly be back when in London

This is a place I will visit again as I went only for coffee. So I will re rate at a future time more thoroughly. From what I experienced, the service is up to par, the design is excellent and the place is clean.

The Sackler gallery was closed the day we were here. After looking around an exhibition in the serpentine gallery we admired the thundery sky from the bridge then found welcome shelter from the wind and rain in the glass 'nose' of this amazing space. The loos are so modern I had to think hard how to use.the tap. They let us linger all afternoon cosy and chatting and watching the world go by. Gardens behind are beautiful.

Great place for Saturday brunch with kiddos

We went to this restaurant for lunch during a stay in London. The restaurant is located in the central area of ​​the beautiful Hyde Park. The structure is very cute and artistic. The service excellent. The food we ate was quite good. We had a cesar salad, a cheeseburger, a sandwich with hamburger, bacon, cheese, salad and sauce and a vegan risotto with vegetables and herbs. All quite good. Average prices.

The Magazine British restaurant is located next to the Serpentine gallery at the junction of Hyde Park and Kensington Park. While drinking coffee, I went to this restaurant designed by Zaha Hadid in Hyde Park. The works designed by female designers have soft and smooth lines and excellent visual effects.

9/10 delicious carrots cinnamon cake 👌🏻 And 2 American coffee it costs 15£ The architecture was great by zaha hadid ✔️

Beautiful building but the absolute rudest staff I have ever come across. The maitre d was an absolute bellend

We went in for lunch after a walk in the park. The architecture of the place is amazing. We walked in and while it was busy, there were clearly at least 3-4 tables where people were getting up. The hostess was incredibly cold and rude. She almost yelled at us that were were no empty tables and then after we asked further, said we could sit on the side tables for tea while waiting for a table. Then, no one ever came to take our order for tea for 15 min. Meanwhile, all 4 tables freed up. We went back to the hostess who told us to 'sit back down'. I was already very annoyed at that point and this comment was infuriating. We did sit down eventually because we were hungry and then it took another 10 minutes for a waitress to come. She took our order and then ...after a considerable wait, the food came without drinks. When the drinks finally came, the tea was cold. It had been sitting somewhere for a while. There were a number of other interactions with the staff which left us annoyed and slightly stressed. They knew they did terribly, too because they took the tip off the bill before we even asked. On the plus side, the food was good although portions are on the small side.

Utter chaos! With a half empty cafe the staff of six are disorganised and process-less and are unable to cope. Our food order was missed and staff didn’t even care. We had chase the staff for our order to be completed. Cups were dirty. Atrocious…. Staff seem to be working hard but ultimately: great venue, bad service.

Please folks don’t go there, the coffee was awful because of cheap coffee beans, my heart still beats crazy and the service was even worse we had to wait in front of the door 15 mins while the cafe wasn’t even a quarter full

The food is beyond awful, couldn’t even swallow the only bite I took from the burger (we were 3 people and ordered 3 mains and 3 sides, nearly all the food in the menu I mean) and the service is so slow.

Food is okay but not amazing. The whole architecture is interesting, big space inside. It was very hard to make eye contact with the waitress. I failed to get tap water once because the lady forgot my request. Finally got the tap water I asked another lady. Generous ice for the iced chai latte, I appreciate that.

We had a reservation, and it was cancelled prematurely at the last minute. When we turned up, they said they had no availability and no waiting list. We were with our toddler who was hungry, really really appalling service. Avoid at all costs.

Sadly the nice architecture doesn’t make up for slow, yet angry service, incredibly overpriced drinks (200mls of Coke for £4!?) and being ignored for the first 20 mins of being sat. The place inside Hyde Park has a distinctive design, nice seating, and next to an art gallery. Entrance is free. I ordered shakshuka from them, but you have to add extra bread and, frankly, excellent tea and coffee.

Just came for coffee and cakes. It was not busy when we came and food and service is just your regular cafe but what stood our was the awe and almost futuristic design of the architecture. Worth a coffee break.

Got stuck in horrendous traffic so decided to escape it by stopping here for lunch. Was quite busy but enough staff to cope. Slightly disappointed that one young server was dressed extremely casual, I actually thought she was a customer at first as she was sitting at one of the tables. I do think staff should wear smart uniforms but that’s my opinion I suppose! The extractor fan wasn’t working so couldn’t serve burgers which was disappointing. The food was ok, pasta a bit boring. Sadly it was the slow service that annoyed me, especially when I noticed that the lady behind the bar had time to stand there eating on full show of everyone! Very unprofessional!

Beautiful location. Bad service. We were waiting to be seated 'as the sign said so' someone behind the counter noticed us but no one came. So I went and asked if we can seat ourselves and the waiter just go "pick the table you want and I will be with you in a minute" after that I was fine but when we wanted the bill I waited and waved for a while and they were enjoying talking to each while ignoring our table. "Not a busy day"

Came across the cafe somewhere online and immediately knew I’d want to visit. Set up a brunch with friends and made a reservation. We arrived to an Italian host cannot remember his name. He was very pleasant and helpful. We sat, looked at the menus ordered drinks I loved my ginger apple carrot drink. And although it was a bit hard for me to order from the menu. As I wanted pasta and they only had vegan pasta he suggested he’d speak with the chef to add some chicken in it for me. As a Nigerian who loves rich flavour and spicy food. I did enjoy the pasta and would definitely try it again sometime soon. It was wholesome being there. I’ll visit again x

Great location but food embarrassingly dreadful. Booked for Brunch. Omelettes flat and rubbery. My scrambled eggs nothing like scrambled eggs! Just another rubbery omelette. Toasted Sourdough soggy and unappealing. Shame - great opportunity to do simple food really well as the menu was unambitious… but it was a real disappointment. Orange juice and coffees were good - stick to those!

A great restaurant with tall walls and a contemporary design. The ambiance is a perfect blend of cozy and futuristic. Each dish we ordered was delectable, particularly the pasta (regrettably, I forgot the name), which had unique flavors bursting through. The staff was incredibly friendly and even gifted a wine glass for my friend to celebrate her birthday.

A complete joke! Sides - one plum tomato cut into four pieces a tomato salad at this place. £4.95 for one tomato! Beyond ridiculous. The second side also £4.95 was two tender stem broccoli pieces with two toasted almonds crushed and thrown on top! Really!!! Avoid this place if you are hungry and don’t have money to waste. The burger was bite size and £16! Complete rubbish and explains why it was many empty tables on the hottest day of 2023 in Hyde park which was heaving!

I don't know what the food is like because we never got to eat here: I booked 2 weeks in advance with OpenTable, got an email the day before asking me to let the restaurant know that I'm still coming, which I did. When we arrived yesterday in time for our booking, we found that the restaurant was closed for a private function! The manager blamed Opentable, and apologised. We ended up having a plastic-wrapped sandwich from the cafe at the other end of Hyde Park, before the concert.

Honestly a really cool venue, just popped along for a few drinks. However service was so horrendously slow. Was here for almost 2 hours and spent 45 minutes waiting for someone to come over to us to order more drinks. Bit annoying!

What sort of service is this that asks customers to wait to be seated and 6 staff walk past you for 5 minutes ignoring you as if you were invisible? I sat down and kept being ignored until I managed to speak to someone to ask for the menu. The waitress seemed surprised and asked if I had waited at the door to which I had replied I did but nobody cared about me. Honestly, is this place even managed by anyone with a brain?

Absolutely outstanding, architecture, service, food and sounds plus service all blend into a beautiful experience, one of a kind. The whole building is awe inspiring. One does not know where to look. I was impress with the standard of the food and the low prices plus sufficient service. Thank you Maria, Simon, Florian and Mekija. We will definitely return.

Beautiful spot outside in the sun, the interior is also clean and modern. We could taste the quality of the fresh ingredients. We had a nice quiet time.

Spacious, light a d stylish place to experience a top quality meal or simple coffee and cake. Set near tbe Serpent in Hyde Park, this place is ideal for a lunch or break while exploring the surrounding area's many exhibits. Ideal for couples, soli or families. Service is excellent and a mouthwatering menu is on offer. Dietary needs including gluten free, vegetarian and vegan are well catered for. Worth a visit.

Stumbled across this during a day in London. I understand from my friend that this architect is famous for a style that she uses constantly (the architects that impress me most are the one who are making many different styles in their work look great) but this was eye-catching and cool. Enjoyed my coffee there. Worth a visit.

Arrived for lunch about 12. After being seated and order taken it became clear that the service was overstretched and pretty disorganised. Head waitress spent ages talking to guided tour groups who seemed to have priority, and avoiding eye contact when I tried to find out how longer I would have to wait. Kale salad with chicken , when it eventually arrived,was ok, but huge helping and some pretty scraggy bits of chicken. Overall disappointed as it’s a lovely place and could so easily be brought up to scratch with decent management.

Came here with my partner for some lunch. Ordered the pork and salad. Food was pretty average, pork was a little dry. Definitely paying for the atmosphere and location more than the food and service. Might not visit again.

Great place and location and really nice staff but -sorry- the menu is very disappointing. At a first glance you might be fooled and think you can find gluten-free and dairy-free options, however, that's not really the case. Especially if you have both allergies...forget it! Best eat somewhere else to spare yourself the aggravation and come here for a coffee or tea or drinks. Although I really wouldn't recommend this place for the food, the staff are amazing. We were very impressed by the service, especially having gone there on a sunny day when the place was absolutely packed and everyone was rushed off their feet. A very special thank you to SOFIA from Portugal who was ever so helpful to us throughout, courteous and so quick on her feet on what what was a crazy busy day.

Very funky restaurant, wonderfully designed building and nice menu. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience especially my hash browns and my virgin mary. However, they were limited on dishes and also not so accommodating to people’s needs. I would return though as the experience was overall good.

We went here with some friends and their kids as well. We arrived around 12.30pm. We were seated and from here on the experience got worst. They came for our order and it was this point we were told they had no chips. We had geared the kids up for fish and chips. Who runs out of chips at the start of the meal service? We were then asked if instead of chips we wanted mushrooms. I don’t know any 3 year old that likes mushrooms never the less order them. We then ordered a bottle of wine which they confused and did a glass. She even stated that her manager did mention 4 glasses. For pudding the staff didn’t know what flavour ice cream they had. I feel that the restaurant needs to train their staff so much better. If they did the meal would have been quite pleasant.

How many times have readers of Tripadvisor had an enjoyable time at a restaurant only to return on a later date to find that it’s closed for a private function? That was our experience on the afternoon of 11 September 2021 when we thought we’d return to The Magazine to repeat the great experience we’d had there on 4 September 2021. Although we could see people sitting outside, eating and drinking, a hand-written notice told us that The Magazine was closed. This message was reinforced by an employee of the restaurant who, when I asked why it was closed, replied that the closure was for a private event. The Magazine is run by Benugo and provides very high quality food and drink pleasantly served and at an affordable price. I’ve been there several times both for lunch and tea and will probably return. However, planning a visit and then finding that the chosen restaurant is closed plants a doubt in ones mind about its reliability as a place for a meal or a cup of tea and a slice of one of Benugo’s delicious cakes. The question will always be asked, “If I choose this restaurant will I be disappointed and find it’s closed when I get there?” I can’t deny the fact that all hospitality venues have been through a difficult time during the public health crisis created by Covid-19. Also, that a private event will yield more revenue than customers who just want lunch or a cup of tea. Nonetheless, eateries such as The Magazine must decide what they are there for: are they restaurants catering for the general public or venues for hosting exclusive private parties?

We popped in here on a Sunday morning and were met with some of the worst service imaginable. Despite there only being 2 other tables taken, and a handful marked as reserved, they tried to put us - with a sleeping baby - right next to the loud kitchen. When I asked to move they accommodated us but were fairly unpleasant about it. They then basically ignored us - I had to go up and get their attention repeatedly both to order our food and to get the bill. (And at this point we were the only table in the restaurant!) The food was fine, but the virgin marys were terrible - just tomato juice and ice with celery that had gone off. I’ve been before and it’s been good, but this time we had such a poor experience and that was sadly down to the staff and management.

Went for lunch after the Van Goch exhibition in Hyde Park. Small plates were excellent and flavoursome. Service very good. Highly recommend.

I went there for Sunday lunch with an old friend, our second visit to this amazing building. Designed by Zaha Hadid, from the outside the restaurant looks like an undulating canvas marquee, but the inside is stunning with large white pillars expanding at the top to join the arched roof. With glass on three sides, the restaurant has an airy feeling, and there is also outdoor seating on three side of the building. The restaurant has re-opened only recently under new management as 'The Magazine', and the fairly short menu concentrates on freshly sourced ingredients with several vegan items. Perhaps because it was a Sunday, there were only two main dishes and three 'small plates' on offer, compared with four and five listed on the internet. However, we were not disappointed as the food was very tasty and the recipes were unusual and interesting. I chose two small plates instead of a main and the quantity was equivalent to a main course. One plate was harissa aubergines with braised tomatoes crushed pistaccio and herbs; the other was flatbread, zuccini and ricotta, costing £14 for the two. My friend chose Norfolk chicken caesar with grilled gem lettuce, egg yolk and split butter milk dressing costing £16. Although we were sitting outside, service was attentive and well informed as to the ingredients. We also had a bottle of the Primitivo red and shared some olives and a dessert. My only observation is that the choice on the menu could have been larger, but a limited choice with fresh ingredients is better than a long menu. Provided that you do not want traditional English fare, I recommend that you try this place. You can also visit the adjacent art gallery in the original magazine building and also this year's temporary pavilion located halfway between the restaurant and the Albert Memorial.

Revisiting after four years, feeling the same pleasure to enter this clean bright restaurant in the middle of the parks, with good service - but it's all downhill now as the food rapidly disappoints. Mussels not fresh and why serve so many that have not...

We visited for the soft opening of The Magazine in the impressive Zaha Hadid building of the Serpentine Galleries. Just beautiful! Hats off to the whole team. Welcoming and knowledgeable service, outstanding food which we were told is zero waste. We loved the small plates...

this was a very nice place and the staff were polite and friendly the coffee was perfect and the home made caked were divine

Long wait for a simple salad and kids burger -40min. Poor service thereafter. Bill came with numerous additional items not ordered. Not done. Sorry. Avoid. Or just continue to fleece the tourists.

Estaba lleno cuando llegamos pero la espera fue corta. El lugar está magníficamente diseñado, a partir de un antiguo almacén de pólvora de 1805, por la arquitecta iraquí Zaha Hadid. Los colores, las formas onduladas, la luz que entra por sus paredes completamente vidriadas, las columnas serpenteantes que te hacen sentir en el interior de una flor. La atención fue sumamente amable y cordial. El té delicioso y la carrot cake de las mejores que probé. Y, como si fuera poco, música en vivo. Un lugar al que volvería sin dudas y recomiendo para que vayan. No se van a arrepentir.

It is a little while since I’ve been here. What has been done to it? The stylish restaurant with interesting food, charming service and modern, intriguing furniture is gone. (The chairs get caught in the carpet so it’s tricky to manoeuvre in and out.) Only...

This restaurant is expensive, slow and obviously overrated because of its nice location on Hyde Park, but the head waiter needs to go back to waiter school: they got our order mixed up with some other customers', so he refused to give it to us...

Staff vraiment décevant et désagréable. Ils devraient travailler à Paris pour ceux qui ont déjà vécu la désagréable sensation parisienne de gêner tout en payant très cher. À fuir, malgré une cuisine attirante mais on n'a dépassé le stade de la bière en terrasse...

I stopped here for coffee with my husband and baby during a winter walk in Hyde Park, it was a great place to stop instead of having a coffee from a kiosk outside in the cold, warm and comfortable. Coffee was good and reasonably priced....

We tried to find a place several times, it was fully booked, finally we managed. The food is good, though not too special. The location, the building itself, the atmosphere, it all complements one another, cool place
