Wow, our Deans afternoon tea was amazing ! Fresh everything and tasted amazing . The quiche was warm as were the scones , our sandwiches were fresh and well filled . We had a choice of great untypical fillings for the sandwiches and we settled for egg mayonnaise for one and Stilton, cranberry and walnut for the other. Our coffees were also excellent . There was friendly , pleasant service too , we did luck out with the cathedral and restaurant being quiet 😍 Thanks for a lovely time x

I highly recommend a visit to the monks kitchen if you are visiting the cathedral or even just in the city. The staff were helpful and friendly and it's all covid secure. I recommend the sausage and egg baps and the sausage rolls. See you again soon lovely people.

Welcoming staff. Nice cake. Nice tea. Plenty of space, inside and out. Next to one of the best cathedrals in England. What more do you want?

We are regulars here and can say for sure the coffee is the best in Gloucester.Sometimes we lunch and did so on the last visit. My wife enjoyed big fried eggs on toast whilst my choice was a delicious ommlette, cooked just as it should be. The latter was served with a large portion of dressed sald, a good size meal.Quality and good portion sizes!!Plus despite the awkward steps, there is good wheelchair access.

This is a great little cafe inside Gloucester Cathedral. It has a cosy atmosphere with wooden tables or sofas, if you want to be more relaxed. There's a great menu with lots of choice of meals, pies, quiche, paninis, toasties, jackets, plus lots of lovely cakes and pastries and excellent coffee. The staff are pleasant and friendly as well. Well worth a visit.

Called in before visiting the cathedral. Friendly service. Ordered 2 sausage rolls (1 vegan), cup of tea, 2 soy lattes and a pecan and maple choc slice. All lovely. £22.25. Toilets up a short flight of steps. Access to the cathedral through a side door. Several seating areas, one as you access from the street, one where you order and one next to the kitchen.

A nice helping of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding together with mixed vegetables. The meat slices were thicker than the usual roast beef but were tasty and tender. It cost GBP 9.50 for this Sunday lunch.

The roast lunch on a Sunday had a choice of chicken or beef. We tried the beef which was ok. There were a few thickly cut slices of beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and vegetables. There were also various pies on offer which sounded very good- will have to try that next time, as well a choice of coffee and cakes. Worth a visit, especially if you are in the area of the Cathedral.

I was ignored at the order point, whilst the manager & chef (?) eventually served where I ordered a simple cream tea and green tea for one. it took the counter assistant three times to understand this, then she wandered off for five minutes, and promptly got the two item order wrong. Unbelievable. Maybe it was just an off day, either way,I was not made very welcome.

I come here for lunch on a day visit to the Cathedral. There is a good selection of food, and I really enjoy my soup with buttered rolls. The serving lady is friendly and asks all the right questions! Cathedral cafés are usually a good place to eat, and this one is no exception. My only reservation here is the rather cramped space. The monks’ kitchen could really do with a monks’ dining room attached!

The restaurant is inside the cathedral so if you get tired or you are waiting for the crypt or Tower tour, this is the place to rest and eat. The food was great. For 8.95pounds, not only do you have the pilgrims pie(lamb), but also lots of veges and the sauce is well seasoned.

Any eating establishment attached to such a well known or popular venue like a cathedral is not going to be cheap but what we had was reasonable value and it tasted good. The service was first class and we had mushroom soup followed up with a brown toastie mayo tuna sandwich.

We decided to visit Gloucester. There are all the usual chain eateries there and many other places that resemble them. However, we headed for the Cathedral, as cathedrals often have great eateries and serve honest home prepared food. The Monk's Kitchen in Gloucester Cathedral did not disappoint. For a start the ambience and atmosphere is totally genuine, historical and free of gimmickry. We received a very friendly welcome followed by excellent service. There was a wide choice of food; drinks, cakes, pastries and main courses which included homemade pies, salads, quiches etc. Carnivores and vegans and all those in between are catered for. One of us ordered chicken pie. This came with three fresh vegetables (broccoli, savoy cabbage and carrots). These were all cooked to perfection, al dente. The pie chicken with vegetables was as tasty as I have had in years. So we went to a beautiful place and had a heavenly lunch which set us up for exploring the magnificent cathedral afterwards. And it was superb value for money.

Whenever we visit Gloucester, we tend to have lunch at The Monks Kitchen. The food is lovely, we really enjoy the soups, which I have replicated at home. The baked potatoes are properly baked and not microwaved. Salads lovely and we always leave room for the cakes, there is always a nice selection. Staff happy and helpful, definitely a place we would recommend.

We stopped here for lunch after visiting the cathedral. There was a good selection of sandwiches and other lunch options, like pies and salads. I had a Stilton, walnut and cranberry sandwich, which I have never seen on offer anywhere else. There is gluten free bread available for sandwiches, and the staff are allergy aware. There is drinking water available for customers to help themselves - always good! We were served quickly. The café was starting to fill up by the time we left, but it did not feel crowded. As a major tourist attraction for Gloucester (cathedral) the cafe within here was very poor. My family had pannis, ok but basic. My choice of meal was the worst, a chicken and bacon salad. A small pot of chicken and bacon smothered in mayo! A lump of coleslaw, some lettuce, lump of the most tasteless red cabbage and I really mean tasteless! A small random pile of kidney beans again tasteless.

Just off the cloisters this is a lovely cafe serving a good range of food, including their "signature dish" the Pilgrim's Pie (and the Monk's Pie for vegetarians). Previous visits have been excellent, however they were totally unprepared for the festival traffic today. Kept accepting food orders and more and more customers, despite having a kitchen that is not equipped for the numbers. Was told a half hour wait for food, fair enough, however our drinks took 25mins to arrive and the food, 50mins. Bacon sandwiches used to be amazing here, but greasy bread with undercooked bacon that looked like it had been pinged in the microwave was a massive turn off. Won’t bother again, will stop somewhere else en -route in future
